Pollution Monitoring System using Arduino and various gas sensor
Now-a-days air pollution is one of the most important concern of the world. Air pollution may evolve from anthropogenic or natural sources. Air pollutants of atmospheric substances like CO, CO2, SO2, NO2, and O3 suspended particulate matter (SPM), repairable suspended particulate matter (RSPM), and volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) have a great effect on the people health. Most of the major cities in developing countries and most cities of the developed countries are suffering from it. Thus to develop a real time air quality and pollution monitoring system is critical. We have developed an arduino based air pollution detector which combined a small-sized, minimum-cost sensor to an arduino micro-controller unit.

In our project, the main objective is the measurement of the pollutants in nature and store the data in a “Cloud Server” which would be integrated with Raspberry pi so that, anyone can have access to read the data of various parameters which are responsible for environment pollution using laptops, computers, smartphones or any kind of smart devices through the internet.
• Why Important?
It is important for us to keep track of the pollution levels because once they cross the safe limits, it will be detrimental to our surroundings. Moreover, Dhaka is one of the most populated cities around the world, and this is why this measurement of Environment Pollution will come in handy as the system we are setting up will collect data and send it to store them in a cloud which would be sent to the authorities so that they can take the measures to control the damage.
• Utility (Service)
Cloud IoT platforms provides several kinds of services that are very useful. Cloud data storage system enables users to store data sent from different boards (like Arduino or Raspberry pi). The data can be accessed from anywhere around the world, so that they can be analyzed later for future purposes. The data collected is a real time scenario, so that people can see it on the website the condition of the environment by seeing the data and the responsible authority can compare these at different locations.
In our work so far, we have used Arduino, which is an open source electronic platform based on easy-to-hardware and software. Arduino boards can read inputs from a sensor and turn them into outputs by obeying the set of instructions given to the microcontroller on the board. This has been achieved by using the Arduino programming language and Arduino programming software.
The sole purpose of using Arduino as a medium and not directly send it to the cloud using Raspberry pi is because the sensors in Arduino are analogue but, raspberry pi has all digital ports. Arduino has both digital and analogue pins.

Environment pollution monitoring system using internet of things
Environment pollution is one of the core problems which is hampering the natural inhabitants. The most common examples of environment pollutions are massive emissions of Carbon-dioxide (CO2) gas, smoke from chimneys, which basically fall under Air pollution, and then there are also Sound pollution and Water pollution which adds to the list. In our project, the main objective is the measurement of the pollutants in nature and store the data in a “Cloud Server” which would be integrated with Raspberry pi so that, anyone can have access to read the data of various parameters which are responsible for environment pollution using laptops, computers, smartphones or any kind of smart devices through the internet.
• Why Important?
It is important for us to keep track of the pollution levels because once they cross the safe limits, it will be detrimental to our surroundings. Moreover, Dhaka is one of the most populated cities around the world, and this is why this measurement of Environment Pollution will come in handy as the system we are setting up will collect data and send it to store them in a cloud which would be sent to the authorities so that they can take the measures to control the damage.
• Utility (Service)
Cloud IoT platforms provides several kinds of services that are very useful. Cloud data storage system enables users to store data sent from different boards (like Arduino or Raspberry pi). The data can be accessed from anywhere around the world, so that they can be analyzed later for future purposes. The data collected is a real time scenario, so that people can see it on the website the condition of the environment by seeing the data and the responsible authority can compare these at different locations.
In our work so far, we have used Arduino, which is an open source electronic platform based on easy-to-hardware and software. Arduino boards can read inputs from a sensor and turn them into outputs by obeying the set of instructions given to the microcontroller on the board. This has been achieved by using the Arduino programming language and Arduino programming software.
The sole purpose of using Arduino as a medium and not directly send it to the cloud using Raspberry pi is because the sensors in Arduino are analogue but, raspberry pi has all digital ports. Arduino has both digital and analogue pins.

The world we live in had evolved into a world where almost every family has at least one vehicle in their possession to be safe we could assume that each family has on average two vehicles. Now due to the increase in the number of vehicles in the road there is that much of an increase in the pollutant levels being increased onto the environment. The major sources of air pollution are CO, NOx and HC and these are a major degradation factor to the environment. To tackle this problem this paper talks about a monitoring system which is placed on the automobile to measure the pollutant levels emerging from the vehicle. On top of that some safety features have been added as well for the driver and all of the people traveling in the vehicle in the form of an alcohol sensor and a seat belt sensor. How this works is that the sensors are placed on the vehicle and can be connected through the users android device. The android device through a WiFi connection is connected to the server, the server is connected to a database and that database has the administrator PC to view and monitor the data. The safety feature is the addition of the alcohol sensor which is connected to the ignition of the vehicle and how it works is that if the driver has any alcohol and it is detected by the sensor then automobile will not start, hence adding an additional safety measure to the vehicle on top of pollution monitoring. This project works on an IoT environment and there is a lot of scope with smart devices in the future.

Recently, there is increasing public awareness of the real time air quality due to air pollution can cause severe effects to human health and environments. The Air Pollutant Index (API) in Malaysia is measured by Department of Environment (DOE) using stationary and expensive monitoring station called Continuous Air Quality Monitoring stations (CAQMs) that are only placed in areas that have high population densities and high industrial activities. Moreover, Malaysia did not include particulate matter with the size of less than 2.5µm (PM2.5) in the API measurement system. In this paper, we present a cost effective and portable air quality measurement system using Arduino Uno microcontroller and four low cost sensors. This device allows people to measure API in any place they want. It is capable to measure the concentration of carbon monoxide (CO), ground level ozone (O3) and particulate matters (PM10 & PM2.5) in the air and convert the readings to API value. This system has been tested by comparing the API measured from this device to the current API measured by DOE at several locations. Based on the results from the experiment, this air quality measurement system is proved to be reliable and efficient.

Rapid urbanization, industrialization, and a rise in vehicular pollution have severely affected air quality in cities. With growing concerns about air pollution and cascading effects across the population, air pollution is emerging as a significant problem. Vehicular pollution, road dust, construction, and industrial pollution are some of the major sources responsible for air pollution in Indian cities. Urban air quality is particularly difficult to measure owing to highly heterogeneous pollution distribution. Therefore, it is very crucial to create a dense air quality monitoring network in order to effectively record the spatial variation of pollutant concentration. Monitoring air quality at such a scale with (first and second generation) continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations (CAAQMS) is very expensive. As a result, they are not deployed at a spatial density sufficient for measuring air quality with high spatiotemporal details. In recent times, low-cost sensor-based systems have evolved as a highly reliable and scalable solution for real-time ambient air quality monitoring. However, calibration is crucial for sensor accuracy. Hybrid air quality networks provide the best of both worlds. It is a network of air quality monitors in which traditional air quality stations are supported with the deployment of multiple sensor-based air quality monitors. The hybrid network complements the data gaps of CAAQMS by incorporating spatially dense data inputs from low-cost sensor-based air quality monitors. This paper explains hybrid air quality monitoring networks and how to design and develop it. It also serves as a guide for setting up a hybrid monitoring network. Such a hybrid network with densely located monitors are capable of providing air pollution information at the spatial resolution as good as 100 x 100 m. Hybrid monitoring network serves all the stakeholders of urban air quality. It is a very economical and effective approach of air quality monitoring and can be easily implemented at any urban location. It significantly improves the capacity of any urban air quality monitoring scheme.

In this presentation, we discussed a case study of how an Air Quality Monitoring System helped Freyssinet Saudi Arabia Co. Ltd. (FSAC) safeguard their workers' health and security in a high traffic construction site in Riyadh. FSAC needed an Air Quality Monitoring System that could detect and notify the authorities whenever air pollutant levels exceed a particular safety threshold, and be portable enough to move to different locations. Oizom with ETCLO offered Polludrone, a compact, smart and lightweight air quality monitoring system that could monitor air pollutants on a real-time basis, along with temperature, humidity, and noise levels. The system is also capable of detecting the direction of pollution through wind direction and wind speed detection. Oizom's cloud computing software, Envizom, can analyse data and create historical trend reports to show comprehensive reports on air pollutant levels. The authorities can be notified of any potential threat to workers' health. As a result, FSAC is now able to access historical trend reports on pollution, traffic, and wind direction, and make informed decisions to safeguard their workers' health.
