This document discusses what it means to be a servant of God. It begins by looking at Jesus Christ as the ultimate example of servanthood, washing his disciples' feet before his crucifixion. Second, it encourages believers by reminding them that God promises to never leave them and strengthen them. Finally, it notes that serving others enriches our lives spiritually and brings satisfaction, as we are blessed to become a blessing to others. The overall message is that Christians should desire to serve God and others humbly as Jesus did.
John 3:1-5. A New Life In Christ. In the new life we have been born again. In the new life we are a new creation. In the new life we crucify the flesh with its passions and desires. In the new life we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. In the new life we are renewed by the Holy Spirit. In the new life we are dead to sin but alive to God. In the new life we are washed from our sins. in the new life we put to death the old man and put on the new man. In the new life we died and our life is hidden with Christ in God. In the new life we were brought back from death in sin.
“Being used by God
is not confined to pastors, preachers or teachers. Anybody can be an instrument
in God's hands.”
God can use anybody, believer or nonbeliever.
Tithing and offerings are two interesting subjects, which many people have different meanings and applications. While tithing and offering are certainly biblical concepts, some people teaches that tithe is a command and offering is a sacrificial ‘will’ of a Christian; some also teaches that these are not so. What does the Bible teaches regarding tithing and offerings under the New Covenant?
In order to understand how tithing fits (or doesn't fit) into the life of a Christian or a religious person, we must first examine tithing as it was originally commanded, its meaning, and its purpose. Offerings which sometimes interchangeably defined to be tithes; one needs to understand the meaning of sacrifice, free will, giving, and sharing.
This book explains in detail: the doctrines, the command, the culture, the principles, and giving of tithes and offerings. It also outlines the most frequently asked questions on tithing, offerings, and giving.

Sermon Slide Deck: "Life is Short..." (Luke 13:1-9)New City Church
There may be no more important time to turn to God than when things are going well in your life.
This message was given on May 1, 2016 at New City Church in Caglary by Pastor John Ferguson. For more info, please visit: www.newcitychurch.ca
Tomorrow we are starting a new series of study:
“The New Man” is a seminar that will focus on the spirit of man, its soul and its body.
We will learn the properties of each one of these three parts of man.
Our spirit is called to be the ruling part of us, actually, our spirit is the main part of our being, and is the place where the spirit of God dwells in.
We meet in Room #3 at CTF Toronto Wednesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. I invite you to come and participate with us in this discovery of how to let our spirit become the ruler of our life.
It is common to refer to the process of maturing as a disciple as spiritual formation. Here, based upon work by Greg Ogden, I give a four stage process for growing into maturity, and fruitfulness, as a follower of King Jesus.
God gave us His Word for a purpose. God wants us to be with Him in heaven. To do this we must change from serving Satan to serving God. God gave His Word so we would know how to live our lives. God gave His Word so we would change.

Make Me A Servant
Make me a servant Lord, make me like you
For you are a servant, make me one, too.
Make me a servant, do what you must do
To make me a servant, make me like you.
To love my brother, to serve like you do.
I humble my spirit, I bow before yo.
And through my service, I'll be just like you.
So make me a servant, make me like you.
Open my hands Lord and teach me to share
Open my heart Lord and teach me to care,
For service to others is service to you.
Make me a servant, make me like you.
This presentation is about Stewardship. God entrusted many things to every believer, and all things that we have must be used for the Glory of God. It also encourages us that we must choose to be the best for God, to have the life pleasing, honoring and serving the true and living God.
We usually hear some nice words about mothers in churches on Mother's Day Sunday, but what does the Lord think about mothers? This exhortation sheds light on the answer from Leviticus 19:3.
Becoming A Servant of the Most High GodAlbert Kang
From the life of Moses, we are able to glean spiritual truths and principles that will help us to grow to become true servants of the Most High God. From a self-sufficient man, Moses became a trusted servant of God. Being humbled for 40 years, he was able to stand before the highest ruler of Egypt and made demands that few mortals dared to utter.

Psalm 100 encourages us to "Serve the Lord with gladness!" First of all, how do I even serve the LORD? What does He need from me? What does He require of me?
Our God humbled Himself such as to bend down washing dirty feet - and He did it gladly:because His love for us is sooooo big! :-)
...and just as God loved and served we too are expected to love and serve and when we do?
...when we do then we have the Joy of Christ in our hearts for as st.Francis said: it is in giving that we recieve!
(today 18th oct 2009 also happens to be Mission Sunday so let us remember the people living in these countries and those serving them in these lands :-)

Let this be a starting point and not a stopping point for us! This is our 5th and final lesson! Act 17:6 But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, "These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.
Mt 23:3-4 "Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. "For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers."
Phil. 3:12-14 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Act 20:35 "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Act 20:35 "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive."
"The New Frontier I speak of is not a set of promises -- it is a set of challenges. It sums up not what I intend to offer the American people, but what I intent to ask of them"
— John F. Kennedy
Today's SS lesson, "Living As Strangers". We Christians are to be in the world, looking to love and point people to God's grace by our examples and our genuine good deeds. We first must reject falseness (the old life) in our own lives, then we will be free to be Jesus servants by others
John 13:34-35 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
Mt 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mk 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Act 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Mt 13:15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.'
Tit 2:11-14 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Rom 8:5-8 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Heb 2:3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him.
Jn 12:42-43 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
Col 3:1-2 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
Mt 17:20 So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

Being A Servant of God!
Rom 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ,
called to be an apostle, separated unto the
gospel of God. (KJV)
Rom 1:1 Paul, a bondservant of Jesus
Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to
the gospel of God (NKJV)

How many of us here have been to
a restaurant?
When we sit down the server comes over,
we call them a waiter or waitess, now what
is their job?
●This is easy to understand when we are
speaking about restaurants, but what about
when we are speaking about being “a
servant of God?”
●Mk 10:44 And whosoever of you will be
the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
5. **0
What does it mean to be a servant
of God?
(Lk. 17:7-10 cf. Phil. 2:5-8)
●We must be willing to submit!
●We must be willing to serve!
●We must be willing to sacrifice!
●There are two very different words translated
“servant” here.
−Doulos = bond-servant/slave
−Diakonos = attendant, waiter, servant,
minister
6. **0
In Luke 17:7-10 we find the function
of being a servant, but tonight I want
to study the focus!
●Tonight we want to come to see our need
to “desire” to become a servant of God!
●When we move from the function to the
focus we are dealing with our attitude and
appetite for becoming a servant of God!
−2 Tim. 3:12 Yes, and all who desire to live
godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
7. **0
I. The Greatest Example!
●There truly is no better example than the Lord Jesus
Christ! Jesus is our God-given example of how to live
our lives!
−1 Cor 11:1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
−Eph 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear
children.
−1 Pet 2:21 For to this you were called, because
Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example,
that you should follow His steps:
−1 Jn 2:6 He who says he abides in Him ought
himself also to walk just as He walked.
8. **0
The example of Jesus as a servant!
(Jn. 13:1-17)
●This is done on His last night on earth before
His crucifixion! This was going to stick in their
minds for sometime!
●Jesus states that this is done “for an example!”
(Jn. 13:15) That we are to now do what He has
done!
●We need to see to the needs of others!
●God is not asking us to do something that He
Himself was not willing to do!
9. **0
II. The Greatest Encouragement!
●One of the greatest blessing of being a Christian
is to know that Christ is with us!
●When Jesus gives the Great Commission, He
promised to always be with us!
−Mt 28:20 "teaching them to observe all things
that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you
always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
−Heb 13:5 Let your conduct be without
covetousness; be content with such things as you
have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave
you nor forsake you."
10. **0 When we go out as a servant of God, God
goes with us!
Knowing this should be encouraging!
●He doesn’t leave us alone and we don't have to do it
on our own!
●Paul declared “I can do all things...”
−Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who
strengthens me.
●When we meet someone that serves in the military
or law enforcement they will tell you “it is a honor to
serve!”
−We need to understand that “it is a honor to serve
in the kingdom of God!”
11. **0
III. The Greatest Enrichment!
Act. 20:35 "I have shown you in every way, by
laboring like this, that you must support the weak.
And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that
He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to
receive.”
●This doesn’t only apply to our money!
●We can give in three ways!
−Our time!
−Our talents!
−Our treasures!
12. **0
There is an enrichment in serving
others!
It is a blessing to bless others!
●We are blessed to become a blessing, forgiven
to become forgiving, comforted to comfort
others!
●Have you ever noticed how you feel when you
didn’t help someone that you know you should
have? The way it makes us feel ashamed &
uneasy, now the opposite is true as well, there is
satisfaction & enrichment in helping others!
13. **0
Conclusion:
●There is a youth song I really like “Lord make
me a servant” that I believe is very fitting for
our lesson tonight!
●May we all learn to “desire” to be a servant of
the Lord! May we learn to find joy in service!
●Have you become a servant of the Lord, have
you come to love serving God and serving
others?
●Have we been living as a servant or living as
one that wants others to serve us?

Lord Make Me A Servant
To love my brother, to serve like you do. I
humble my spirit, I bow before you. And
through my service, I'll be just like you. So

Open my heart Lord and teach me to care, For
service to others is service to you. Make me a
