This document discusses inexpensive mobile mapping solutions that are compatible with both Android and iOS platforms. It introduces the Avenza PDF Maps, OruxMaps, and CarryMap Observer applications. Avenza PDF Maps allows users to load georeferenced maps and record location data. OruxMaps enables users to create waypoints, tracks, and share locations between devices. 2. GIS Professionals are presented with a dilemma as demand for mobile GIS is on the rise and budgets seem to be shrinking. Data is more prevalent than it ever has been in GIS. Use of traditional consumer-grade GPS units is being replaced by mobile devices. One major challenge has been finding applications which are compatible with both IOS and Android platforms to collect and display data. Carbon County GIS would like to share some applications that are simple to use and compatible with both platforms that will get your data out of the database and into the hands of the users we all serve.
