A STUDY ON THE ABRASION RESISTANCE, COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH AND HARDNESS OF BANA...IAEME Publication
The abundance of natural fibres, particularly banana fibres in India as an agricultural waste and the good properties offered by them like tensile strength, wear resistance, hardness, bio-degradability and eco-friendliness make it a good substitute to the non-biodegradable, toxic and costly synthetic fibres in many engineering applications. India is a lead producer of Banana fibre. The main challenge faced by researchers in the development of natural fibre composites is the attainment of a good interfacial bonding, so as to transfer the load effectively from matrix to fibre. To achieve the desired level of fibre-matrix interphase strength, the fibres are given four different surface treatments- alkalization, benzoylation, permanganate treatment and fibre surface impregnation with rubber.

Effect of High Temperature Curative and Moulding Temperatures on Tensile and ...IOSR Journals
This document summarizes research on engineering thermoplastic ABS composites reinforced with kenaf fibers that have been surface treated and coated with epoxy resin at varying temperatures. The key findings are:
1) Tensile strength increased with increasing epoxy curative loading up to an optimum of 4 wt.%, but then decreased with more curative due to excessive crosslinking.
2) Optimum moulding temperature for tensile strength was 210°C, as higher temperatures started degrading the fibers while lower temperatures provided insufficient melting.
3) Both tensile strain and modulus generally decreased with more epoxy curative or higher moulding temperatures, as the extra processing weakened the fiber
Dental composite resins have evolved significantly since their introduction in the 1960s. Early composites had large filler particles and exhibited high polymerization shrinkage, discoloration, and poor mechanical properties. Researchers developed smaller filler particles and introduced resin chemistry modifications to improve properties. Current composites include microfilled, microhybrid, and nanofilled types. While composites can provide esthetic posterior restorations, clinicians must take care with technique and moisture control for success. Composite properties continue advancing, but their performance still depends greatly on the skills and care of the applying dentist.

Evaluation on a Promising Natural Cellulose Fiber- Calotropis Gigantea FiberCrimsonpublishersTTEFT
Calotropis gigantea fiber is a kind of natural cellulose fiber that regains increasing attention nowadays, thus it is evaluated here aiming to replace cotton or kapok fibers to some extent. New discoveries are found about its morphological structure, indicating that it has sharper, closed tip and coarser, open end, and that it usually has 4-6 grooves along its longitudinal axis, with fully distributed microvillus on its surface. The FTIR spectrum shows the fiber mainly contain cellulose, lignin and hemi-cellulose component. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the fiber has higher crystallinity in comparison with kapok fiber. In term of breaking strength, the fiber is obvious lower than cotton fiber and a little higher than kapok fiber. Furthermore, the fiber has good water absorbing and releasing capability, implying it has excellent water transmissivity.
Green Processing of Dyes: Influence on Physico- Mechanical Properties, Color ...CrimsonpublishersTTEFT
The present article describes the role of dyes in enhancing the various properties of fibers along with their brief history and the recent methodologies used to minimize their negative impact on environmental safety. Since primitive age, natural dyes were used as coloring agents in textile industry. Later, in nineteenth century, synthetic dyes due to their high dyeability, varying shades ability, and comparatively low cost have replaced natural dyes. However, environmental concerns like water and marine pollutions forced the textile industry to develop new methodologies for the utilization of natural dyes with improved properties. Literature reveals that the use of new and advanced techniques have enhanced the dyeability, strength, softness, antimicrobial and other properties of textiles. These are mainly classified in to; a) the chemical modifications of natural dyes, and b) the surface modification of fabrics. In addition to these, the negative and positive impacts of these methods along with the future scope of research have also been discussed.
