and Johann van Beethoven. Beethovens father was a musician himself who seen what musical
possibilities his son had at such a young age. Beethoven was waken up all times of the night just to
practice the keyboard until the sun had rose. Unlike his father, beethovens grandfather Kapellmeister
Ludwig van Beethoven was also a musician himself who had endless pride in his grandchild.

connection to Melancholia. It is stating that one suffering with depression will act before thinking

Through these various resources critics seemed to glean a good understanding of how Keats used
imagination in various ways. The first defines imagination as "its capacity to discover, prefigure, or
create an unseen truth or reality" (ix). Keats would have been exposed to the classics of ancient
Greece as a schoolboy. He was influenced and inspired by classic Greek art and mythology. Also, in

The oil on canvas "Tears of Joy in the Garden of Giants" by Michael Zancan was created in south
west France back in January of 2011. This surreal artist plunges into his fantasies creating mystical

My Torah portion is called Vayigash from the book of genesis. Vayigash is about Joseph's story. If
you don't know Joseph's story, Joseph's father favored him the most out of his other 10 brothers at
the time. Joseph was a dream interpreter. After Joseph dreamt about his brothers bowing down to
him, they sold Joseph into slavery out of jealousy, and told Joseph's father he was eaten by animals.
In Egypt, Joseph was thrown into jail and interpreted two prison mates dreams. One of the two told
the pharaoh about his skill and Joseph interpreted the pharaoh's dream Joseph predicted seven years
of plenty and than seven years of famine. He became the pharaoh's second in command. During the
famine Joseph was in charge of rationing food. One day Joseph's 10 brothers that sold him into
slavery and they came with a new person, Benjamin, Joseph's unknown baby brother. That brings us
to my portion. In my portion Joseph reveals himself. Joseph "forgives" his brothers. Joseph cried
out, "send everyone away!" when he saw his brothers. Joseph yelled this so loud, the whole of Egypt
heard him. What Joseph said next is like it was said from a different person. Joseph could have just
waved everyone away but he showed emotion and cried out. Joseph then calmly revealed that he
was their brother, and told his brothers that him being sold into slavery needed to happen. Joseph

The four movement had written with presto – allegro assai type. It began with fast melody, strong
and loud. Sometime in the beginning of the movement, I heard the similar sound with the first
movement, second movement, and the third movement. Would Beethoven actually have inserted a
tiny piece of music from each movement into this final movement to recall for the entire of
symphony? Before the movement get to the point of choral, there is a same melody keep playing
with different tempo. It was louder and louder until the sudden point, it just repeats the same melody
and same tempo. The moment baritone sang was surprise me. His voice is strong, deep, warm, and
loud; the sound from all the instruments was not overwhelm him. The instruments are a perfect
background to make his voice become brighter. Soprano voice is another voice make me love. I like
the way she sang, the sound from her voice could every other voices in the concert hall. Soprano
voice is extremely high, but it does not make me feel uncomfortable. She also knows how to control
her voice to make it implement into the group of people to make the movement become remarkable.
Once the last piece of music end, there is a longest clap I had ever seen in my life. The audience
appreciated for all the work of these musician had done, for the beautiful music, and for a greatest

PDQ Bach – Beethoven Symphony No. 5 I was able to hear his use of themes. My overall
impression was that it was hilarious and educating at the same time. At first I was a bit confused on
why I was listening to this, but then I heard it all and it made sense. Also, we normally do not listen
to these songs, but it was more entertaining because it made me laugh. The keys used in this theme
was still in C minor. How it relates to the works of Mozart is they both use the same instruments in

Literature often reflects real life. The world of imagination is a euphoric release from the world of

than what it is. Human life is often full of conflicts for example, the interconnection or mixture of
pain/joy, intensity of feeling/numbness or lack of feeling, life/death, the actual/the ideal, and
separation/connection. In the poem "Ode to a Nightingale" written by John Keats, the poet seems to
be praising the nightingale for its melodious tune but upon further investigation it is revealed that he

It was a road block for the musical genius and it became nearly impossible for him to perform again.
Beethoven stopped creating new composition; he obviously was very disappointed and became
constantly more frustrated. It had been said that he even wrote letters to his brothers telling them
how he felt like it was an end of his life. During this period when Beethoven had almost stopped
working on music creation, he was living off funds from his earlier compositions, and symphonies.
Those funds soon proved to be no enough to support Beethoven, and he feel deeper and deeper into
an economic slump.
Tragically on March 26, 1827, due to his dimensioning health, and lack of funds to provide care,

which is old is obsolete, we are everyday reminded that this is not true. "Symphony No. 9", better

Analysis Of Beethoven's 9th Symphony
For the second and final concert report, I listened to the performance of Beethoven's 9th symphony,
as played by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Beethoven lived in Germany during the late 16th
and early 17th centuries, and was an influential figure in the transition between the Classical and
Romantic eras in western music. The performance requires a large number of instruments, with
woodwinds, brass, percussion, strings, and even a choir during the 4th movement. The first
movement of Beethoven's 9th is quick, driving forward and at times giving the feeling of rushed
urgency, while maintaining a composed majesty beneath the surface. This is reflected in the original
tempo marking of allegro ma non troppo, un poco maestoso, meaning literally "quickly but not too
fast, a little majestic". The movement begins with a the strings playing intervals over a quiet string
tremolo, reminiscent of an orchestra tuning themselves before a performance. This crescendos to a
loud and bombastic introduction of the first movement's main theme and the introduction of the
brass section. The first movement also makes heavy use of dynamic contrast, with large crescendos
that swell in time with the music and diminuendos that quickly reign in the impressive power of the

Creativity can sometimes be the result of torment. Ludwig van Beethoven was a famous classical
composer with a hard life. Throughout his entire life, he suffered from various diseases, hearing
difficulties, mental disorders and social problems, (Russell and Nibley 25 ). Yet despite all of these
terrible ailments, he was able to compose music that is considered some of the best ever composed,
and that is still appreciated today.
Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany on December 17, 1770 (F.C.C). His father, Johann, was an

This essay will apply a Classical perspective to John Keats' Odes. I will examine how John Keats

is not the same as being wise. A person can be smart, he or she can have many degrees and

Hopewell think that they have the world figured out, but when they encounter Manley Pointer, a

BASIC FACTS The oil on canvas "Tears of Joy in the Garden of Giants" by Michael Zancan was
created in south west France back in January of 2011. This surreal artist plunges into his fantasies
creating mystical worlds filled with vivid hues and outstanding details. A long process awaited this
particular piece. During one of his travels, the first draft got misplaced at a metro station for many
months. Filled with hope, Zancan continued his research of varying structural forms that 1900's

"It is not difficult to see O'Connor exploring the terrain of her own life" (O'Donnell). Undoubtedly,
Flannery O'Connor drew inspiration from the dynamic of her everyday life living with a fatal
disease. This forced her to see the world and herself as they truly are for there was no time to beat
around the bush. Flannery O'Connor uses specific characters to reflect symbolism and irony in her
life. Her characters are straightforward connections to real life people and blunt portrayals of the
societal pressures in the 1950's.
In Good Country People, Flannery O'Connor uses some aspects of Joy to represent her own life.
Much like O'Connor, Joy is homebound with her mother due to her health. Instead of lupus, Joy
wears a wooden leg in lieu of a leg that used to be. The health that cripples Joy and O'Connor from
leaving the house very far is a clear parallel between the two young women. Another correlation
between the character and the author is their mothers' criticism. Found in a biography of O'Connor
by Melissa Simpson, "While 'proper' girls were partial to piano or dancing lessons and boys,
O'Connor was not. In fact, it was only after Regina forced her into piano and dancing lessons that
she begrudgingly complied" (6). Likewise, Mrs. Hopewell was dissatisfied with Joy's fascination
with philosophy. Subtly, the disapproval of their daughters' activities is a common link between Joy

Classicism, which expresses harmony, order, and rationality, Romanticism expresses individuality,
emotion, and imagination. It ran from the late eighteenth century through the nineteenth century.
Ludwig van Beethoven was known as the bridge between the Classic era and the Romantic era. He
is often called the greatest music revolutionary of all time. Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany,
on December 16, 1770. His father was his first music teacher, instructing him in playing the violin
and piano. In 1779, Beethoven began studying with Christian Gottlob Neefe, the court organist, who
helped him write his first composition, a set of keyboard pieces. Beethoven soon began working
with Neefe as the assistant organist. He traveled to Vienna to seek out Mozart as a teacher, but the
details of his meeting with Mozart are unknown. Beethoven also studied under Joseph Haydn in
1792. He developed a reputation as a piano virtuoso, and his first published works were released in
1795. Beethoven began to lose his hearing in 1802, and he became almost completely deaf by 1816.
He became very irritable, but his loss of hearing did not stop him from composing. Many of his

If there is one piece of music that has been discussed and used more than any other is Beethoven's
ninth Symphony. From political meetings to sport matches, Beethoven's piece has been used for all
kinds of purposes and by a wide variety of people, and it always seems to be supporting whatever
ideas whoever uses it has. In this essay I intend to deepen into the various ideological and political
environments in which the piece has been played and to explain why it has been a reference for
several different ideologies and ideas, especially focusing on the 20th Century.
After a seven–year hiatus, including the war, in 1953 a significant number of the most important
politicians in Europe gathered together in West Germany to hear the re–opening of the Bayreuth
Festival. The piece played that night was Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, and it doesn't seem to be a
