Bees and other pollinators play a vital role in agriculture and ecosystems by maintaining food supplies and biodiversity. However, many pollinator populations are declining due to threats like intensive monoculture farming and improper pesticide use. World Bee Day on May 20th aims to raise awareness of this issue and promote pollinator-friendly agricultural practices. The 2023 theme encourages adopting such practices to protect pollinators and ensure sustainable food systems. All sectors of society have a role to play in supporting pollinators through various actions and World Bee Day materials provide information to get involved.
