This document discusses BCNET's peering connections at the Seattle Internet Exchange (SIX). It provides benefits for BCNET members by allowing direct connections to large content providers like Google and YouTube, resulting in significant transit cost savings compared to traditional transit. BCNET's connection includes a shared 10Gbps link to Seattle and a dedicated 1Gbps private peering connection directly to Google. Initial results show that 95% of traffic is now carried over the peering connections rather than transit links, improving performance and reliability for BCNET members. Future plans include extending the peering model to other locations and improving redundancy.
