Bauhinia racemosa is a deciduous tree found in parts of Asia including India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and Pakistan. It grows 3-5 meters tall with dark brown, rough bark and suborbicular leaves that are 2-5 cm long and bilobed or divided halfway. The plant produces creamy yellow flowers in terminal or leaf-opposed racemes from January to June. The pods are 12.5-25 cm long and contain 12-20 oblong, compressed black seeds. In Ayurveda, the bark is used to treat malaria, dysentery, and diarrhea, and the leaves are eaten by cattle.
