Understand the importance of self-care
Identify the five basics of Self-Care and
its significance to our well-being
Recognize the benefits of self-care
Notice how your body reacts when a request is made.
If you’re like some of us, your mind will say yes while
your body is screaming “NO! NO! NO!” That would be
a significant boundary worth paying attention to.
“The beautiful thing about boundaries is that your body
always tells you just where they are, even if you don’t
always agree.”
“Does Your Self-Care Truly Support You?”
“Please answer the following questions as honestly as possible. This is
the best way to find out how you are doing and what you need.”
The best phrase I could use right now to describe myself is
a. On fire!
b. Content
c. Clouded and somewhat distracted
d. Downright cranky or depressed
e. Stressed out and completely overwhelmed

“I would describe my energy in general as”
“a. Abundant
b. Pretty good

Assess Your Responses
“Mostly a’s: You are in a place of abundant self-care. Congratulations! What can you do to
make sure you keep up with your good habits?
Mostly b’s: What kind of self-care best supports this great expansion you are in right now?”
“Mostly c’s: It is easy to be overwhelmed by life, isn’t it? But you know there is work to do in
your self-care. Has the time finally come?
Mostly d’s: It’s hard to give yourself permission to stop and reflect, and there is a lot to reflect
on here. Can you give yourself permission to rest for a while?
Mostly e’s: Sometimes we get to a point in life where all we can do is fall apart. But on the
other side of that falling apart is pure gold. The trick is to fall apart in a way that is really
supported, with the help of a therapist, support groups, or the loving care of people who
understand you. Most importantly, you have the opportunity right now to grow—and to come
back to yourself.

Mostly b’s: What kind of self-care best supports this great expansion you are in right now?” “Mostly c’s: It is easy to be overwhelmed by life, isn’t it? But you know there is work to do in your self-care. Has the time finally come? Mostly d’s: It’s hard to give yourself permission to stop and reflect, and there is a lot to reflect on here. Can you give yourself permission to rest for a while? Mostly e’s: Sometimes we get to a point in life where all we can do is fall apart. But on the other side of that falling apart is pure gold. The trick is to fall apart in a way that is really supported, with the help of a therapist, support groups, or the loving care of people who understand you. Most importantly, you have the opportunity right now to grow—and to come back to yourself.
