Bartender
Bar Boy
• Acts as a runner and
helper in the bar
Waiter
• Take and serve beverages
and other orders according
to prescribed.
One who mixes and serves alcoholic drinks at a bar.
Also called a Barkeeper.
Bar Receptionist – Welcome and greets customer at
the entrance and escort them to their tables.
Bar Manager – Plans, direct, monitors the set-up and
delivery of service in the bar, ensuring the service
standards are consistently complied with.
The Bar
• A counter on which alcoholic drinks are
served such as beer, wine, liquor and
cocktails.

Cocktail Lounge
• Is an upscale bar that is
typically located within a
hotel, restaurant or
airport.
Full Bar
• Serves liquor, cocktails,
wine and beer.

• Is an elegant bar that
focuses on wine rather
than on beer or liquor.
• Some wine bars also
serve small plates of food
or other snacks

• Focuses on beer,
particularly craft beer,
rather than on wine or
liquor.

• Is a bar that presents live
music as an attraction.
Dive Bar
• Often reffered to simply
as a “dive”, is a very
informal bar which may
be considerd by some to
be disreputable.

Stand Up Bar
• a bar counter inside a

• Forms the basis for all
beverages both alcoholic
and non alcoholic. One of
the most stable water
sold in bars and food
outlets is the Mineral
Water.
Soda and Carbonated Drinks
• Include soft drinks either in a
bottle or in can.
Locally called soft drinks.
• Are obtained from juice or
extract of fresh fruits. They
contain natural vitamins such
as Citric acid.

  • 3. Bartender Bar Boy • Acts as a runner and helper in the bar Waiter • Take and serve beverages and other orders according to prescribed. One who mixes and serves alcoholic drinks at a bar. Also called a Barkeeper. Bar Receptionist – Welcome and greets customer at the entrance and escort them to their tables. Bar Manager – Plans, direct, monitors the set-up and delivery of service in the bar, ensuring the service standards are consistently complied with.
  • 4. The Bar • A counter on which alcoholic drinks are served such as beer, wine, liquor and cocktails.
  • 5. Types of Bar Cocktail Lounge • Is an upscale bar that is typically located within a hotel, restaurant or airport. Full Bar • Serves liquor, cocktails, wine and beer.
  • 6. Types of Bar Wine Bar • Is an elegant bar that focuses on wine rather than on beer or liquor. • Some wine bars also serve small plates of food or other snacks Beer Bar • Focuses on beer, particularly craft beer, rather than on wine or liquor.
  • 7. Types of Bar Music Bar • Is a bar that presents live music as an attraction. Dive Bar • Often reffered to simply as a “dive”, is a very informal bar which may be considerd by some to be disreputable.
  • 8. Types of Bar Non-Alcoholic Bar • A bar that does not serve alcoholic beverages. Stand Up Bar • a bar counter inside a food outlet were drink orders are prepared.
  • 9. Types of Bar Mobile or Portable Bar • Movable bar, can be transferred from one place to another.

Alcoholic and Non Alcoholic Beverages Alcoholic Beverage • Any drinks containing ethyl alcohol. • Cocktail – mixing of beverage with alcoholic content. • A alcohol free and non alcoholic versions of some alcoholic beverages. • Mocktail – mixing of beverages without alcoholic content Non Alcoholic Beverage

  • 13. Alcoholic Beverages Beer • Also known as “malt beverage” and associated with ales, malted grains, hops and yeast. Spirits • Alcoholic Beverage that are obtained by distillation, after their fermentation from vegetables, grains, plants and other substances which are sugar or starch. • Whisky, Rum, Vodka, Brandy, Tequila, Gin, Liquor/Liqueur

  • 15. Spirits Vodka • Derived from the Russian word “Voda” w/c means water. This type of spirit is made from potatoes. • Examples of flavors • Herbs • Lemon • Fruits • Peel Brandy • Distilled from fermented juice of ripe grapes or other fruits. • Distilled from fermented sap of the maguey plant from mexico. Spirits Gin • A spirit flavored with juniper berries. • Examples of Liqueurs • Baileys • Triple Sec • Crème de Cacao Liquor/Liqueur • Liquor is an alcoholic beverage made of grains or other plants which is fermented into a potent drink. • Liqueur are sweetened spirit with various flavors, oils and extracts.
  • 17. Non Alcoholic Beverages Water • Forms the basis for all beverages both alcoholic and non alcoholic. One of the most stable water sold in bars and food outlets is the Mineral Water. Soda and Carbonated Drinks • Include soft drinks either in a bottle or in can. Locally called soft drinks. • Are obtained from juice or extract of fresh fruits.
