Slavery, Slavery And End The Most Brutal Piece Of American...
Slavery began in the United States as soon as the first Europeans stepped foot on the land. Many
people had numerous hardships and losses because of this brutal part of American history. These
slaves would lose every aspect of their lives including their spouses, children, and religion, and the
only thing they gained was the scars on their backs from the beatings their owners brought upon
them. Slaverylasted for over a century in the United States, and it was not until Thomas Jefferson s
Northwest Ordinance that any change was attempted. Preceding Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln
contributed to end slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment,
Andrew Johnson followed with the Fourteenth Amendment, and finally, Ulysses... Show more

However, they did have black slaves, especially in Maryland, Missouri, Kentucky, and Delaware.
Even the states that everyone knows to be against slavery quietly took part in it in their northern
factories.
The south is the slavery that everyone knows of with slaves from Africa who are born into their
lives of torture. These slaves worked on the plantations and were never able to gain freedom from
their lives as slaves. They worked in treacherous working conditions and masters owned them.
Their masters could sell them whenever they wanted to and whipped them constantly, sometimes
for no reason. Families split up, religion was lost, and scars spread across the slaves backs from
the harsh whips. Thomas Jefferson wanted to put an end to this form of slavery, so he proposed a
document that would do so.
The first sign of free lives in the United States began in the 1787 with the Northwest Ordinance.
Thomas Jefferson proposed the document that stated that any state northwest of the Ohio River
would be equal to the original thirteen states and would not permit slavery ( Primary Documents,
2015a). This document also allowed settlers to expand their territories and make profits to help
with national debt. The northerners were happy with this new Ordinance because they would not
have to compete with slave labor while the southerners were happy because it would lead to slave

Persuasive Essay On Secondhand Smoke
Introduction The federal government should pass a nationwide smoking ban from all indoor
facilities. There are many controversial statements out there, but indoor smoking should not be one
of them. There are many lives being affected by people smoking in public facilities. As this puts
others at risk for severe health problems.
Main Point #1 Many may ask what secondhand smoke is. Or many may ask is it harmful? Some
may think, just because I don t actually smoke cigarettes then it can t be dangerous. This is where
people need to be informed on just exactly what secondhand smoke is. According to the CDC
website Secondhand smoke comes from tobacco smoke such as cigarettes, and there are over 4,000
chemicals in them while over 250 are the ones that they actually know that can cause deadly
diseases. The CDC website also states how many deaths are caused form secondhand exposure in
the U.S every year, and that is around 34,000. To think a lot of these deaths could have been

According to the CDC website Tobacco smoke contains a deadly mix of more than 7,000

bodies by secondhand smoke without a choice. Smoking also has an effect as narrowing blood
vessels added strain to your heart, as well as harming almost every organ in the human body.
Why should someone that doesn t want to be around smoking have to be exposed to it? What
about the children? Being exposed to secondhand smoke increases their risk for SIDS, chronic
cough, asthma attacks, respiratory and ear infections. Their bodies are still developing at such a
young age, and to think of their bodies being harmed at such a crucial growing stage. This is very

Us Vs Us Healthcare System
The United States and the United Kingdom are very different countries. They have fish n chips,
we have a burger and fries. They drink tea and we drink coffee. They follow football and we
follow (American) football. In terms of healthcare, we are still just as different. The United States
healthcare is run by private sectors and the United Kingdomhealthcare system is run by the
government. People are able to make money off of insurancecompanies in the U.S. and you can t
make money off the healthcare system of the U.K.. This is why, economically speaking, the United
States healthcare system is better. In terms of economics, the United States is a better healthcare
system because how it is run.
First of all, the United States, people have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These benefits are great in terms of economy.but they also have drawback like coverage plans
don t always work in every hospital and insurance can be expensive and it is getting worse. In
some states insurance rates are going up by 50% and even higher. In the UK there are also
benefits that are good economically speaking. For example, it is mostly convenient when you
get there with minimal paperwork and you get preventative care which stops things before they
could get worse and could save everybody money and everybody has insurance. But the
drawbacks are not very good in terms of economics because it is a command based system, 9%
of your taxes is for healthcare so that is a big chunk of change, the wait times tends to be longer,
and there isn t a lot of advanced medical equipment. For producers in the United States the benefits
would be the ability to market their service but a drawback would be the competition of other
insurance companies. In the UK the producer has a benefit of no competition but funding for a
whole country can be very difficult to accomplish. The benefits and drawbacks that encourage
economic growth would be the United States because the competition is appealing to consumers
and people like to choose what they want but the prices are getting high and these prices are
determined by age, location, family vs. individual enrollment, and plan category. In

The Significance Of The Title Of The Catcher In The Rye

Mr. Gott
Scale English 4
30 October 2017
In many novels the title of the story is more important than most people initially think. It often
reveals important information about the story. The Catcher in the Rye is a title whose significance
gradually becomes apparent as the novel progresses. Written by JD Salinger, The Catcher in the
Rye is a coming of age novel in which the main character, Holden Caulfield, wishes to preserve the
innocence of children. Through the title, this theme is portrayed and emphasized. The title of this
novel takes its name from a line in a poem by the poet Robert Burns.
In the novel, the first clue to the significance of the title that you are introduced to is when a
little boy is singing as he strolls through the park. In chapter 16, Holden listens to a child singing
to himself If a body catch a body coming through the Rye. Holden describes the little boy in terms
of innocence: The kid was swell. He was walking in the street, instead of on the sidewalk, but right
next to the curb. He was making out like he was walking a very straight line, the way kids do, and
the whole time he kept singing and humming. Holden also comments on how the child s parents are
paying no attention to him. To Holden the little boy represents innocence and youth untouched by
adult corruption. Listening to the boy sing makes Holden feel less depressed.
The Next time the title is mentioned is in chapter 22. Holden s sister Phoebe asks him what he

12 Year a Slave Essay
Twelve Years A Slave Essay During a time of cruel punishment and harsh conditions of life as a
slave in the 19th century South, there was a book that shed a light on the life of a slave
unparalleled in past as well as in modern literature. That book was entitled Twelve Years a Slave
by Solomon Northup. Northup was born a freeman that was obtained from his father after being
freed by the Northup family due to loyal service. Growing up in the free state of New York,
Solomon was allowed an education that was rare because of the sad disposition of the majority of
his race. Solomon gained much knowledge of industry and hard work from his father. As a free

Northup and others were to be shipped to New Orleans. New Orleans had the biggest slave
market in the South. It was a place no slave ever wanted to encounter. Before arriving in New
Orleans, they made frequent stops at other slave pens to resupply goods and acquire more
slaves. Escape always came to mind while on the ship but never came to fruition, as opportunity
was lost. Arriving in New Orleans Northup was given the name Platt and placed in another slave
pen similar to that in Washington. While in the pen they were to be kept in a presentable
manner, washed, shaved and dressed in a cheap suit everyday. Slaves were instructed in moving
to their spots and looking smart . Each slave was to stand in their spot while potential buyers
viewed and analyzed them thoroughly. Northup became well known for his violin skills, so
much so that Freeman was able to exploit such skills in pricing. However, after being exposed to
small pox earlier from another slave, Northup got deathly ill and was rushed to the hospital,
decreasing his value. Though still weak, he returned to the slave pen where he was sold to Mr.
William Ford. Many different masters owned Northup, but two to be discussed are William Ford
and Edwin Epps. William Ford, a future Baptist preacher and owner of a lumberyard, purchased
Northup in the New Orleans. Ford lived in the Great Pine Woods of Avoyelles Parish by the

How Did Ngo Dinh Diem Left Vietnam
Ngo Dinh Diem (1901 1963) was a staunchly against confidant Vietnamese statesman who declined
to band together with Ho Chi Minh after the Franco Vietnamese War. With the support of the
United States government, Diem drove South Vietnam from 1954 to 1963, when he was
slaughtered close by his kin in a military oust.
Ngo Dinh Diem was imagined in Vietnam in 1901. His ancestors had been changed over to
Christianity by Catholic evangelists in the 17th Century. Diem, as past times of his family, was
taught in French Catholic schools. After he graduated he was arranged as an executive for the

The French battled against this stating that Diem was insufficient and also berserk . Regardless,
over the long haul it was picked that Diem showed the most obvious opportunity to keep South
Vietnam from falling under the control of communism.
Once in power, the Americans discovered that Diem was unwilling to be a puppet ruler. He
persistently rejects their suggestion and settled on decisions that wonder the South Vietnamese
people. A couple tries were made to topple Diem yet regardless of the way that the Americans were
sad with his execution as president, they felt they had no genuine alternative but to support him.
In October, 1955, the South Vietnamese people were asked for that pick between Bo Dai, the past
Emperor of Vietnam, and Diem for the activity of the country. Colonel Edward Lansdale suggested
that Diem should give two vote papers, red for Diem and green for Bao Dai. Lansdale assumed that
the Vietnamese conviction that red implied favorable circumstances whilst green demonstrated

Essay on How to Avoid Plagiarism
How to Avoid Plagiarism
Plagiarism is a growing problem in universities (Matheson Starr 2013) and becoming too common
in the scientific world (Ober et al. 2012). Hence it is important for students as well as researchers to
know how to avoid plagiarism. Before discussing the ways to avoid plagiarism, this paper discusses
the definition, the types and reasons for plagiarism. Copying or borrowing someone else s words
or ideas may perhaps be the more inoffensive way of explaining plagiarism. However, these two
terms may deliver a connotation that plagiarism is not much of a serious offense. Whether the act
of plagiarising is intentional or unintentional, it is considered as a fraud. In an academic setting
plagiarism may even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are surely many other ways of avoiding plagiarism but there are five simple rules suggested
by Ober et al. (2012).
Rule 1: Do not copy It is not a good practice to simply copy what is found in other people s work,
books or even your own writing. If you have to do so, do it properly by copying it with quotation
marks and appropriate citation. In addition to this, it is good to have a proper time management in
which you would have enough time to cite your sources properly.
Rule 2: Write in your own words Paraphrasing means putting someone else s ideas into your own
words but care must be taken as changing a few words and rearranging the original sentence is
still considered as copying . Hence, though paraphrasing is commonly suggested as one of the
ways to avoid plagiarism it is much better to avoid paraphrasing and rather use your own original
voice .
Rule 3: When in doubt, cite This is one of the ways to avoid plagiarism but it should not be done
excessively. Otherwise you would end up with excessive citation in your piece of writing and lack
of writing in your own words. This is an indication for you to consider rewriting the paper.
Rule 4: Don t recycle images, figures, tables or text from one of your previously published papers
without citing This is the case of self plagiarising when you republish a figure from earlier
publication but fail to cite the original and obtain

The Walking Dead Season One Game
About four years ago, I started watching the Walking Dead to impress a guy that I liked. Luckily,
I dropped the boy and started avidly watching the show without his influence. Presently, I still
watch the series religiously and have not heard from said boy in years. It s probably for the best.
While I have dedicated a plethora of my time to watching the televisionshow, I had hardly
immersed my self in the other mediums of the story. I had never picked up a comic that the show
was based off of and did not know that a gamehad been released until I played the Wolf Among Us,
another game from Telltale Games based off of a comic series. Since I was a huge fan of video
games in general, I decided to playan episode of the Walking Dead season one game. Overall, I
was impressed with the game and the storyline. I enjoyed the comic like graphics of the game; it
made me want to read the actual comics, even though I am by no means an avid comic book
reader. I also enjoyed the method in which they told the story. Instead of going with a linear plot,
like a television series, they left most of the key decisions up to the user. In many situations, I
was choosing actions that deeply effected the relationships I had with the people around me either
in a negative or positive manner; also, it seemed I spent a lot of the time deciding between who
lived and who died, which was just as nerve wracking as watching these decisions play out on the
show. By placing these huge responsibilities

Essay On Standing Tall
The book, Standing Tall: The Kevin Everett Story (Published in 2008) written by Sam Carchidi
is about a former NFL player overcoming a seemingly irreversible injury during his professional
career. I selected this book because it reminds me of the days when I played football in high
school and how fortunate I was to be able to walk away from the sport with no severe injuries. I
constantly read about the freak accidents in football that either left an athlete with a lifelong
injury or sometimes even death. This book stood out to me because it is about a player who went
against the odds and was able to somewhat recover from what seemed like an injury that would
have left him disabled for the rest of his life. The book begins conversation about how Kevin Everett
was entering his third year as a tight end and special team s player for the Buffalo Bills
organization with a promising future ahead of him. This was all about to change in the season
opening game for Keven against the Denver Broncos. During the opening game Kevin was
making special teams tackle after a punt to put the Broncos far back into their own territory, but
that tackle was about to change Kevin s life. After taking down the opposing player Kevin was left
in the ground motionless and not responding. Kevin was carted off the field and taken to one of the
nearest hospitals. After... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

likes a good read about someone who defeats adversity. This book has defiantly impacted me in the

Gender Wage Inequality
One cannot begin the discussion of gender pay gap without defining it. Simply put, gender pay gap
is the inequality between men and women wages. Gender pay gap is a constant international
problem, in which women are paid, on average, less than that of their male counterpart. As to if
gender pay gap still exist, its exactness fluctuates depending on numerous factors such as
professional status, country and regional location, gender, and age. In regards to gender, in some
cases, both men and women have stated that the gap does not exist. Due to various countries
initiatives to shrink the wage inequality between men and women wages in the work force, the gap
has narrowed, respectively, which may have helped form such opinion. However, stating... Show

It would seem that these states would have the least gender inequality, but this is not the case.
The bar graph shows the percent of gender wage gap in OECD countries. As of 2010, the average
gender gap is at 15 percent. Since 2000, the gap has narrowed. In many countries, the gap has
shrunken considerable yet in some countries, the gap only increased. Much research shows that
eastern Asian countries have and Middle Eastern countries have the largest gender wage gap.
Countries such as democratic South Korea and many Middle Eastern countries are relatively
economically stable, similar to that of the United States and some European countries, yet these
countries gender wage gap percent are not up to par in comparison the U.S. or E.U percent.
The United States began its focus on wage inequality in 1963, when the United States Congress
introduced the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. In hopes to strengthen the new legislation, the United
States Congress also passed the Fairness Paycheck Act, which had help better prevent employers
from committing wage discrimination. Before both Acts, women on average earned 59 cents for
every dollar a man made. After these laws were legislated, women s relative earnings steadily
increased during the 70s and 80s. Besides governmental laws and regulations help in narrowing

Depression was an economic slump in North America and Europe. The industrialized Western
world had experienced the most ruthless and prolonged depression. Cinderella Man is only one

financial. For example economic factors where, poor distribution of wealth, many consumers relied

In view of the fact that consumers are not purchasing as much food, farmers are struggling in
saving their farms. Also, the drought or also known as the dust storms are contributing to this
reason. Since people were not buying as much the farmers could not afford to keep the farms,

6. How does the king assist Santiago in recognizing omens? When does Santiago use this help?
Omens were a guide for Santiago in his journey. The king assist Santiago in recognizing omens
by giving his two stones for making decision. They are called Urim and Thummim. The black
signifies yes , and the white no . When you are unable to read the omens, they will help you to

he was robbed by the boy. Am I going to find my treasure? he asked (Coelho 44). He had learned
that there were certain things one shouldn t ask about, so as not to flee from one s personal
legend. I promised that I would make my own decisions, he said no to himself (Coelho 44).
Santiago is trying to ask the stones for an answer of his question. Santiago s personal legend is
to find treasures. But then the question he had asked is not objective and it s not a yes or no
question. If the stones have given the answer, then it s end of the journey and it would give it

not easy to track down an accurate definition of its boundaries. Estimation of the global value of the
industry present significant discrepancies. It can be agreed, however, that the Space industry
generates important revenues: SIA estimates USD 322.7 billion of global revenues for the industry
in 2014, while the Space Foundation estimates USD 330 billion.
The space economy has presented a constant and sustained growth over the last 40 years. As we

In broad terms, the literature distinguishes between three different sectors: scientific, military, and
commercial.
The scientific sector aims to develop new academic and technological knowledge, providing other
sectors the capabilities needed for their activities. Universities and research institutes are important
scientific and technological actors. The military sector, on the other hand, provides the conditions
required to secure national assets. Last but not least, the commercial sector aims to create richness
and business growth out of the Space industry. It is of fundamental importance for the
sustainability of the Space sector as a whole, as, differently from the scientific and military, is the
only one specifically designed to be profitable.
As the final objective is to provide an overview for the development of a sustainable Space
strategy in South Australia, the commercial sector will be the crucial unit of analysis of the paper,
but not the only one, as each sector is closely linked with the others, and has no chance to survive in
isolation.
SPACE INDUSTRY S VALUE CHAIN
When asked about space activities, most people tend to think about big government and public

David Robert Mitchell s It Follows
In It Follows, director David Robert Mitchell combines the tale of ordinary adolescents coming to
age with a shapeshifting antagonist, as he masterfully blends the paradoxical topics of youthful,
romantic realism and paranormal horror. While more subtle than the stereotypical slasher horror
film, exploring loftier themes such as existentialism, sexual socialization, mortality, and sexual
morality, it never strays from its main purpose: bringing fear and terror to the audience. Mitchell
uses a number of ambitious and creative techniques to navigate this movie of contrast, none more

Not only is there a conflicting dissonance between the diegetic and non diegetic sound as discussed
previously, this element is equally present within the incidental music itself. Quite frequently a
single beat or rhythm is introduced and subsequently grouped with differing, often incongruent
beats, sound effects, noises, and tones. Combining a huge assortment of audio techniques, varying
greatly in style, tone, and tempo, the background score is erratic and unpredictable and it injects the
film with a volatile, unrelenting feel. Futuristic melodies, distorted and muffled noise, screeching
static sounds, pulsating beats, siren like music, pounding, banging, grating, and soft, echoing tunes
are all combined and jumbled together at different times, never letting the audience get comfortable
with anything it hears. This effect is amplified by suddenly starting and stopping, changing speeds,
and alternating levels of volume to the already perplexing and unnerving soundtrack. These
strategies, much like the foreboding antagonist, constantly remind the audience of the looming,
impending doom the characters face, even in the safest of settings and in the most mundane

The Rights Of An International Human Right
The right to be forgotten is a concept discussed and put into practice in the European Union since
2006. In May 2014, the European Court of Justice ruled that EU citizens have a right to be
forgotten, that they could request that search engines remove links to pages deemed private, even
if the pages themselves remain on the Internet. Originally this law was planned in 1995 but called
differently and didn t have that much effect until today. The issue has arisen from desires of people
to determine the development of their life in an autonomous way, without being perpetually or
periodically stigmatized as a consequence of a specific action performed in the past. However,
there has been controversy about the practicality of establishing a... Show more content on

Google is expanding the number of websites it will censor under Europe s right to be forgotten

close that loophole for European users. The websites will be censored results when they search
on google.com as well as a local, national version of the site. The new policy is unlikely to have
many practical effects, but the case still has symbolic importance as Google tangles with national
governments over how far local censorship orders should extend. In Canada, for instance, the
country s Supreme Court is taking up a case in which a provincial judge ordered Google to delete

Why Do We Celebrate Columbus Day
In the U.S and most Latin American countries, Christopher Columbus has been portrayed as a
symbol of heroism because of his discovery of the Americas. Thus, many countries have
proclaimed Columbus Day as a national holiday to celebrate the anniversary of Columbus s arrival
to the Americas in 1492. However, in the U.S, Columbus Day started as a celebration of the Italian
American heritage and in 1937; however, President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed Columbus
Day a federal holiday after intense lobbying by a Catholic service organization consisting largely of
Italian Americans (Phillips, 2016). Particularly most of the Italian American communities celebrate
their heritage in Columbus Day.
Nevertheless, for most Italian Americans, Christopher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also gives a completely wrong impression to say that Columbus discovered America; as
Indigenous people, we often say that he invaded America (Mitchell,2017). Another point to mention
is that Christopher Columbus never discovered America. There is historical evidence that suggests
that Vinkings explorers landed in the Americasbefore Columbus, The Vikings early expeditions
to North America are well documented and accepted as historical fact by most scholars. Around
the year 1000 A.D., the Viking explorer Leif Erikson, son of Erik the Red, sailed to a place he
called Vinland, in what is now the Canadian province of Newfoundland (Weiner, 2007). However,
despite the historical evidence that there may be nothing honor about Columbus, in many countries,
he continues to be portrayed as a hero who discovered America. Also, many history books around
the world continues giving him credit for discovering

However according to the researches organizations must be careful in choosing the type of the
employee involvement. In order to choose the right type of employee involvement in the process of
change organizations should pay attention to the criteria s as follows; roles, skills, resource,
commitment, outputs, and data (Vidal, 2007). Furthermore the author argues that choosing the
right type of employee involvement effects positively in the process of change, commitment and
also reduces cost. Whereas choosing the wrong employee involvement type will negative impact in

that in order to gain the level of the commitment during the change, the organizations should highly
consider to use some of the other involvement tools such as; communication, education, group

Logical And Physical Network Design Diagrams
IT IS important to have logical and physical network design diagrams. These diagrams help us in
understanding of the entire network with its functionalities. Physical layout diagrams of the
network shows connections between network devices and their physical location on the
network. Workstations are represented by use of small computer icons, severs are shown with
full tower cases. Switches and other network devices can be shown by use small rectangular
boxes with their RJ 45 points. Sometimes switches are not displayed with their ports depending
with their angle of view on the page. It is advisable to give more details as possible without
overcrowding the diagrams. Logical aspects of the network are shown by the logical layout
diagrams. Logical network may include assigned IP addresses to various hosts and devices,
routing table might also be shown. When designing logical devices we are not interested with
any physical cable or actual interface so we omit such kind of details. Physical and logical
layouts are important because they help in security issues, management and for troubleshooting
reasons. In case a problem arises such as link been down we use the physical layout and we are
able to locate where problem is located. This helps a lot because it avoids waste of time. Logical
and physical view of the network helps administrators and engineer to identify possible security
issues. Hackers try to obtain access to highly sensitive data by first creating map of the network

Some of the animals in the badger s diet include woodrats, prairie dogs, kangaroo rats, pika,
pocket gophers, marmots, moles, ground squirrels, deer mice, and voles. The badger is also a
huge consumer of snakes. In South Dakota the badger is the most dominant predator of
rattlesnakes, making the badger very important to the ecosystem. They also prey on ground
nesting birds like burrowing owls, and bank swallow. Some of the smaller things the badger preys
on would be insects such as bees, and reptiles like lizards, and fish and skunks.
Mutualism:
The coyote and badger is a great example of mutualism. Coyotes normally don t hunt in packs or in
tight knit groups but is often found hunting with the badger. The best example would be hunting in
prairie dog fields. The coyote takes the prairie dogs on the ground while scaring other dogs into
their holes where the badger is. When the badger hunts underground catching it s prey it also
scares dogs up to the ground where the coyote is. So basically the badger and coyote work
together to corner up the prairie dogs and eat until they get their fill.

The American Marketing Association ( Ama )
Introduction
According to the definition from the American Marketing Association (AMA), a brand is a name,
term, sign or combination of them intended to identify goods and services of one or a group of
sellers and distinguish it from competitors.
Brands play different roles in the lives of individuals (Ajgaonkar, 2012). But the roles they play
depends on the individual (Kardes et. al, 2011), due to the fact that we are not all the same.
According to Belk (1988), an individual may use personal possessions such as jewelry or clothing
to help define an individual s sense of self
Levy (1959) and Holam (1981) also support the statement by arguing that clothing has a
symbolic attribute, which is used as a form of social interaction. The aim of this essay is to
define the roles that brands play in my life and how they contribute to my sense of self. This will
be accomplished by drawing on my personal experience with brands and with the support of
academic material. To suit the purpose of this essay, I decided to use three brands; Converses,
Playstation and Kurt Geiger.
The Brands
Converses is one of the oldest footwear brands. The brand initially produced shoes for basketball
players but eventually converted to mass market. Converses portray a tough, masculine appeal that
customers would associate with the shoe brand. The brand also falls under the excitement
dimension, which portrays, a spirited, imaginative and daring characteristic (Aaker,

Summary Of The Liebeck V. Mcdonald s Restaurants Case
The Liebeck vs. McDonald s Restaurants case was one of the biggest tort reform cases. A tort is
a term used for a personal injury, which allows the injured party to receive compensation for
injuries and damages. The American legal system allows anyone in accordance to the law taking
the proper steps to sue a person or corporation that may be responsible for his or her injuries. This
case is still one that people argue today about whether this was negligenceon behalf of the plaintiff,
while some argue this was a product liability case. After this famous case was over and utilizing
comparative negligence principles, state bills were created that limited the monetary amount that
could be sought in corporate lawsuits.
On February 27, 1992, seventy nine year old Ms. Stella Liebeck placed a cup of coffee between her

dance team of young girls, their mothers, and their teacher. Earlier on in the program s years, the
show focused more on the life of a dancer, and the commitment the each dancer had to make to
compete. However in the most recent episodes, such as the one I watched entitled Another One
Bits the Dust the 28th episode in season four, the focus seems to have shifted to more surface
level cat fights between the adults. Once one is able to get to know the characters, the drama
created from these altercations is absorbing and overpowering to the point where the reality part
of the show seems overly influenced by the conducts of the show s producers and directors. With
the use of classic character roles, creative filming, and clever scene selections, the creators of Dance
Moms tell a manipulated story of competitive danceand all its participants, and direct the way they
all are perceived in order to keep the intended audience engaged, excited, and entertained with the
show.
From the moment the episode starts, the classic good versus evil narrative begins, and the
characters are quickly established for those who might not be loyal watchers. The opening few
minutes showcase Abby Lee Miller. As the owner and director of the Abby Lee Dance Company,
Abby tells her students and their mothers who did the best at the most recent competition, and who
did the worst. She posts their faces in a

Jacqueline Lee Bouvier was born on July 28th, 1929 in East Hampton, Long Island. Jacqueline s

family also, her father had been chairman of the board of Chase National Bank.

At first Janet did not know that her husband was still playing his role as a ladies man but when she
found out she immediately demanded Jack s fidelity. Jack didn t know the meaning of the word.
Several months after Jackie s 7th birthday in 1936, her parents separated. When their separation
agreement ran out six months later, the Bouviers gave the marriage another try. It lasted for five
months. Then at the end of august 1937, Jack and Janet separated permanently, although they did
not get divorced until 1940. (Guthrie)
Janet won custody of her two daughters. Jackie and Lee considered living with their mother
quot;humdrum quot; while visiting their father was a quot;treat quot;. Jack had great influence
over his daughters. He taught them about personal style and what men looked for in women.
Whatever their father considered good, these girls did.(Guthrie)
Janet did not stay single for long. Two years after her divorce from Jack, Janet remarried Hugh
Auchincloss. Auchincloss was a Scottish man with good values and work ethics. Not only was
Auchincloss a hard working man but his family had an equally high social standing as the
Bouviers. Auchincloss s fortune was also greater than the Bouviers. Hugh owned a large estate,
Merrywood, in Virginia. At Merrywood he lived with Janet, his three children, Jackie and Lee, and
soon the two children that Janet and he would have together,

Specifically, this article reports on: (a) the use of social media by students and faculty; (b) the
use of social media for academic practice in both traditional and distance learning formats; and
(c) the pros and cons of using social media for academic practice. Previous reviews of the
literature have suggested that access to technology is inequitable (Jackson, Ervin, Gardner,
Schmitt, 2001; Morgan VanLegen, 2005) and that students of color are less likely to use
technology, and therefore, have fewer opportunities to use social media tools than their white
peers (Volman van Eck, 2001). As such, this article reviews recent research on the use of
technology and social media by students of color, and potential inequities in the use of social
media for academic practice. Social Media Use by Students Today s college students (which
consist of Baby Boomers, Generation Xers, and Millennials) are exposed to all types of
technologies in many aspects of their lives (Browning, Gerlich, Westermann, 2011). On a daily

The Economic Failure Of Regina s Economic Boom In Canada
Regina s economic boom. Even though the American economy declined in 2008, the
Saskatchewan fortunes rose significantly. The high demand for natural resources such as potash
and natural gas fueled the economic boom. In 2011, Saskatchewan bragged about having the
lowest unemployment rate in Canada at 4.5 per cent. Regina tied with Guelph, Ontario with a 4.7
per cent in Canada and Saskatoon, SK came in fourth place with a 5.1 per cent. The
Saskatchewan Government reported in the fall of 2011 that there were more people working full
time than ever before in the province s history (Woodwark Wong, 2013, p. 191). Saskatchewan was
leading all provinces in economic indicators such as housing starts, value of building permits, retail

Murray Darling Basin Analysis
Murray Darling Basin
The Murray Darling Basin is a river catchment located in Victoria, Queensland and New South
Wales. It is one of the most iconic basins in Australia. Today we will be talking about the history of
the basin and the people who live there.
Over 2 million people live in the Basin but, people who live outside the Basin still heavily rely
on the water from it, so over a total of 3.3 million people need water from the Basin. The basin
also supplies food for these aboriginal people, like the native fish in the area for all of the nations.
There are 45 aboriginal nations in the basin, compared to Australia having over 500 nations.
It hasn t always been aboriginals living in the basin, European settlers have used the river system

Satire of the Knight in the Prologue and Knight s Tale of...
Satire. Satire is a biting literary tool, one that Geoffery Chaucer used liberally when he wrote his
Canterbury Tales. Webster s New World Dictionary says that satire is the use of ridicule, sarcasm,
etc. to attack vices, follies, etc. Using that definition, I think that all of the pilgrims in the
Canterbury Talesare satirized to some extent; some of the satirizations are more subtle than others.
The Knight is one of the pilgrims that is more subtly satirized.
Chaucer satirizes knights and chivalry in two different ways: in the prologue and in the Knight s
Tale. The first way in the prologue is with the pilgrim Knight s character. Chaucer wanted to present
a realistic knight, but he also wanted to give the Knight some very ... Show more content on

Hodges, featured in April 1995 edition of The Chaucer Review, Hodges examines the reasons
behind Chaucer s decisions on the clothing of his Knight. After examining the introduction of the
Knight s character in the General Prologue of the Canterbury Tales, Ms. Hodges said that Chaucer
intended his Knight to be the one true to life portrait of a knight of the 14th century an every
knight of sorts. She also concluded that Chaucer wanted to go against the normal chivalric ideal of
a knight by presenting a knight as he really might have been: a basically good person, but with
imperfections. I disagree with Hodges about Chaucer s intentions when characterizing the knight. I
don t think the knight was meant to be a true to life portrait of the every knight .
I think that the reason Hodges and I disagree has to do with the scope of our examination. Hodges
was mostly examining the Knight s clothing, with only references to the rest of the Knight s
description in the prologue, and only briefly mentions the Knight s Tale. I am looking at the Knight
in a more general sense, and looking at clues in the entire description and the tale.
One of the generalizations Hodges makes is that Chaucer s Knight is not romantically ideal. On this
point, we definitely agree. There haven t been many changes in peoples conceptions of the ideal
knight since the 14th century. The ideal knight is the one

For the Sake of Our Planet, Tourism Should Be...
The world is huge and mysterious, full of wonders and surprises, and humans are ever inquisitive
by nature. The need for human to consistently travel and quench their curiousity through new
discoveries had been evident since early civilization. Like those myths and legends of Gulliver s
Travels to appease the curiousity of people in the pastof the vast , unknwon Eart, to the real history
and conquers of Marco Popl, humans have never find it enough to stop unreveling the wonders of
nature and Earth to cease travelling. Especially with the advancement of and improvement of
transporttechnologies. When we needed months, even years, of perilous travels across oceans, now
we just need a few luxurious hours on planes to reach our destinations.... Show more content on

The environment may be destroyed in the process of building these infrastructures, like the clearing
of lands for not only the hotels and shops, but also for better accessibility and transport system. This
may eventually lead to overcrowding of the tourist spot. Following are the air and noise pollution,
unavoidable when overpopulation occurs. This further degrades the environment.
Therefore tourism should be discouraged as it can cause great harm to the environment of that
particular tourist spot with the influx followed by the tourism industry.
Also the travelling in modern modes of transports like air palnes and various land transports
releases large amount of carbon gases that can result in global temperature rise. And of course the
rise in carbon emmision is a major influece from the rise in tourism as many prefer the mode of
transport by air. The advancemnet of transporation technology by air has not only hasten travelling
time, but as thismode of transport became more common, it became cheaper as well. Many budget
airline companies are springing out, making travelling more affordable and more popular. However
12% of the world s carbon emmision is contributed by aviation.
Although there are many other industries and activities, like factories wastes, which produce more
carbon emmision than air travel alone, discouraging tourism (along with other sectors) can help cut
down on the carbon emmision.
But on the other hand, as more people travel due to their

Essay about Johann Sebastian Bach
Johann Sebastian Bach
Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21st 1685. He is the son of Johann Ambrosius. For
many years, members of the Bach family had held positions such as organists, town
instrumentalists, or Cantors.
When Bach was eight years old he went to the old Latin Grammar School. He was taught reading
and writing, Latin grammar, and a great deal of scripture, both in Latin and German. The boys in
the school formed the choir of the St. Georgenkirche. This also gave Bach an opportunity to sing in
the regular services, as well as in the nearby villages. He has an uncommonly fine treble voice.
During this period Bach attended the Gymnasium of Ohrdruf, which had become one of the most

By now Bach had high ideals for the church music of Germany. He began organizing the rather
poor facilities of Muhlhausen; he started by making a large collection of the best German music
available, including some of his own. The first result of these efforts was his cantata Gott ist
mein Konig . This, incidentally, was the only one of Bach s cantatas to be published during his
lifetime. This success gave Bach the hope to put in a long and detailed report, proposing a
complete renovation and improvement of the organ. The council agreed to carry the proposals out,
and Bach was given the job as supervising the work, for not only now was he a brilliant player, but
he became an expert on constructing organs.
The court orchestra consisted of twenty two players. Bach s function was mainly a violinist,
however he also played harpsichord. Bach, on occasion, wrote some of the music that was played.
During this period he wrote strictly for the organ, and he was rapidly becoming known throughout
the country. As time went on, people were coming to see him far and wide.
During the later years of his life Bach gradually withdrew inwards, producing some of the most
profound statements of the baroque musical form. Bach s creative energy was conserved for the
highest flights of musical expression: the Mass in b

Antony In Shakespeare s Julius Ceasar
Antony was a very diverse character in the play Julius Caesar. He starts out as a small character
who is only mentioned once or twice an act. Later he is portrayed as a hero for the people.
Towards the end he is depicted as a liar and a cheat whose only goal is to attain power. As you
look over Antony throughout the play, you slowly start to see the real him which only comes
out when he is given the chance to rise up on the political chain. In the beginning of the play, you
hear very little of Antony. He is first mentioned during a scene where Caesar is in public about
to watch men race. Antony is asked to touch Caesar s wife, Calpurnia, as he is running so that
she may become pregnant. He agrees and is believed to have done so. After that, not much is
heard of Antony up until the point where Caesar is killed. There it is debated whether or not
Antony should be killed. It is decided that he will be spared because it is overkill to cut off arms
and legs after the head has already been removed. After this, Antony flees until the next scene where
the next element of his character is revealed. After the death... Show more content on

He speaks with Lepidus and Octavius about who should be killed in order to maintain order and
to keep themselves in power. He haggles over the lives of his own family just to make sure that

Lepidus go and get Caesar s will so that they can divert money from it to support their armies.
After Lepidus had left, they discussed how Lepidus would be discarded after he had served his
purposes and would not rise to power with them. Antony continues to strive for power throughout
the rest of the play and at the very end, he praises Brutus for how honorable he was. He again used
his speaking skills one last time to seal his right to power after the war was

Was The Roaring Twenties Really Roaring
The Roaring Twenties was the period of that Great American Prosperity which was built on shaky
foundations. as J. Paul Getty would say. For the first time, more people lived in the city than on
farms. The economy was booming. So what makes the twenties so roaring? The Roaring Twenties
were the start of many important industries we have today, including automotive, radio, and
fashion. The automotive industry really took off during this time period. Henry Ford and Ford
Motor Company manufactured cars that became extremely popular. In 1913, Henry Ford created
the first moving assembly line for an entire automobile. It reduced the amount of time it took to
make, therefore making it possible to create more cars. This was also the time period that

  • 2. Slavery, Slavery And End The Most Brutal Piece Of American... Slavery began in the United States as soon as the first Europeans stepped foot on the land. Many people had numerous hardships and losses because of this brutal part of American history. These slaves would lose every aspect of their lives including their spouses, children, and religion, and the only thing they gained was the scars on their backs from the beatings their owners brought upon them. Slaverylasted for over a century in the United States, and it was not until Thomas Jefferson s Northwest Ordinance that any change was attempted. Preceding Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln contributed to end slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment, Andrew Johnson followed with the Fourteenth Amendment, and finally, Ulysses... Even the states that everyone knows to be against slavery quietly took part in it in their northern factories. The south is the slavery that everyone knows of with slaves from Africa who are born into their lives of torture. These slaves worked on the plantations and were never able to gain freedom from their lives as slaves. They worked in treacherous working conditions and masters owned them. Their masters could sell them whenever they wanted to and whipped them constantly, sometimes for no reason. Families split up, religion was lost, and scars spread across the slaves backs from the harsh whips. Thomas Jefferson wanted to put an end to this form of slavery, so he proposed a document that would do so. The first sign of free lives in the United States began in the 1787 with the Northwest Ordinance. Thomas Jefferson proposed the document that stated that any state northwest of the Ohio River would be equal to the original thirteen states and would not permit slavery ( Primary Documents, 2015a). This document also allowed settlers to expand their territories and make profits to help with national debt. The northerners were happy with this new Ordinance because they would not have to compete with slave labor while the southerners were happy because it would lead to slave ... There are many controversial statements out there, but indoor smoking should not be one of them. There are many lives being affected by people smoking in public facilities. As this puts others at risk for severe health problems. Main Point #1 Many may ask what secondhand smoke is. Or many may ask is it harmful? Some may think, just because I don t actually smoke cigarettes then it can t be dangerous. This is where people need to be informed on just exactly what secondhand smoke is. For example, it is mostly convenient when you get there with minimal paperwork and you get preventative care which stops things before they could get worse and could save everybody money and everybody has insurance. But the drawbacks are not very good in terms of economics because it is a command based system, 9% of your taxes is for healthcare so that is a big chunk of change, the wait times tends to be longer, and there isn t a lot of advanced medical equipment. For producers in the United States the benefits would be the ability to market their service but a drawback would be the competition of other insurance companies. In the UK the producer has a benefit of no competition but funding for a whole country can be very difficult to accomplish. • 5. The Significance Of The Title Of The Catcher In The Rye Sarah Sjoholm Mr. Gott Scale English 4 30 October 2017 In many novels the title of the story is more important than most people initially think. It often reveals important information about the story. The Catcher in the Rye is a title whose significance gradually becomes apparent as the novel progresses. Written by JD Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye is a coming of age novel in which the main character, Holden Caulfield, wishes to preserve the innocence of children. Through the title, this theme is portrayed and emphasized. The title of this novel takes its name from a line in a poem by the poet Robert Burns. In the novel, the first clue to the significance of the title that you are introduced to is when a little boy is singing as he strolls through the park. In chapter 16, Holden listens to a child singing to himself If a body catch a body coming through the Rye. Holden describes the little boy in terms of innocence: The kid was swell. He was walking in the street, instead of on the sidewalk, but right next to the curb. He was making out like he was walking a very straight line, the way kids do, and the whole time he kept singing and humming. Holden also comments on how the child s parents are paying no attention to him. To Holden the little boy represents innocence and youth untouched by adult corruption. That book was entitled Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup. Northup was born a freeman that was obtained from his father after being freed by the Northup family due to loyal service. Growing up in the free state of New York, Solomon was allowed an education that was rare because of the sad disposition of the majority of his race. Before arriving in New Orleans, they made frequent stops at other slave pens to resupply goods and acquire more slaves. Escape always came to mind while on the ship but never came to fruition, as opportunity was lost. Arriving in New Orleans Northup was given the name Platt and placed in another slave pen similar to that in Washington. While in the pen they were to be kept in a presentable manner, washed, shaved and dressed in a cheap suit everyday. Slaves were instructed in moving to their spots and looking smart . Each slave was to stand in their spot while potential buyers viewed and analyzed them thoroughly. Northup became well known for his violin skills, so much so that Freeman was able to exploit such skills in pricing. However, after being exposed to small pox earlier from another slave, Northup got deathly ill and was rushed to the hospital, decreasing his value. Though still weak, he returned to the slave pen where he was sold to Mr. William Ford. Many different masters owned Northup, but two to be discussed are William Ford and Edwin Epps. William Ford, a future Baptist preacher and owner of a lumberyard, purchased Northup in the New Orleans. Ford lived in the Great Pine Woods of Avoyelles Parish by the ... • 8. Essay on How to Avoid Plagiarism How to Avoid Plagiarism Plagiarism is a growing problem in universities (Matheson Starr 2013) and becoming too common in the scientific world (Ober et al. 2012). Hence it is important for students as well as researchers to know how to avoid plagiarism. Before discussing the ways to avoid plagiarism, this paper discusses the definition, the types and reasons for plagiarism. Copying or borrowing someone else s words or ideas may perhaps be the more inoffensive way of explaining plagiarism. However, these two terms may deliver a connotation that plagiarism is not much of a serious offense. Whether the act of plagiarising is intentional or unintentional, it is considered as a fraud. In an academic setting plagiarism may even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are surely many other ways of avoiding plagiarism but there are five simple rules suggested by Ober et al. (2012). Rule 1: Do not copy It is not a good practice to simply copy what is found in other people s work, books or even your own writing. If you have to do so, do it properly by copying it with quotation marks and appropriate citation. In addition to this, it is good to have a proper time management in which you would have enough time to cite your sources properly. Rule 2: Write in your own words Paraphrasing means putting someone else s ideas into your own words but care must be taken as changing a few words and rearranging the original sentence is still considered as copying . Hence, though paraphrasing is commonly suggested as one of the ways to avoid plagiarism it is much better to avoid paraphrasing and rather use your own original voice . Rule 3: When in doubt, cite This is one of the ways to avoid plagiarism but it should not be done excessively. Otherwise you would end up with excessive citation in your piece of writing and lack of writing in your own words. This is an indication for you to consider rewriting the paper. Rule 4: Don t recycle images, figures, tables or text from one of your previously published papers without citing This is the case of self plagiarising when you republish a figure from earlier publication but fail to cite the original and obtain ... Luckily, I dropped the boy and started avidly watching the show without his influence. Presently, I still watch the series religiously and have not heard from said boy in years. It s probably for the best. While I have dedicated a plethora of my time to watching the televisionshow, I had hardly immersed my self in the other mediums of the story. I had never picked up a comic that the show was based off of and did not know that a gamehad been released until I played the Wolf Among Us, another game from Telltale Games based off of a comic series. Since I was a huge fan of video games in general, I decided to playan episode of the Walking Dead season one game. Overall, I was impressed with the game and the storyline. I enjoyed the comic like graphics of the game; it made me want to read the actual comics, even though I am by no means an avid comic book reader. I also enjoyed the method in which they told the story. Instead of going with a linear plot, like a television series, they left most of the key decisions up to the user. In many situations, I was choosing actions that deeply effected the relationships I had with the people around me either in a negative or positive manner; also, it seemed I spent a lot of the time deciding between who lived and who died, which was just as nerve wracking as watching these decisions play out on the show. Essay On Standing Tall The book, Standing Tall: The Kevin Everett Story (Published in 2008) written by Sam Carchidi is about a former NFL player overcoming a seemingly irreversible injury during his professional career. I selected this book because it reminds me of the days when I played football in high school and how fortunate I was to be able to walk away from the sport with no severe injuries. I constantly read about the freak accidents in football that either left an athlete with a lifelong injury or sometimes even death. This book stood out to me because it is about a player who went against the odds and was able to somewhat recover from what seemed like an injury that would have left him disabled for the rest of his life. The book begins conversation about how Kevin Everett was entering his third year as a tight end and special team s player for the Buffalo Bills organization with a promising future ahead of him. This was all about to change in the season opening game for Keven against the Denver Broncos. During the opening game Kevin was making special teams tackle after a punt to put the Broncos far back into their own territory, but that tackle was about to change Kevin s life. • 39. I Watched An Episode Of Dance Moms For this assignment, I watched an episode of Dance Moms, a Lifetime reality show about a dance team of young girls, their mothers, and their teacher. Earlier on in the program s years, the show focused more on the life of a dancer, and the commitment the each dancer had to make to compete. However in the most recent episodes, such as the one I watched entitled Another One Bits the Dust the 28th episode in season four, the focus seems to have shifted to more surface level cat fights between the adults. Once one is able to get to know the characters, the drama created from these altercations is absorbing and overpowering to the point where the reality part of the show seems overly influenced by the conducts of the show s producers and directors. With the use of classic character roles, creative filming, and clever scene selections, the creators of Dance Moms tell a manipulated story of competitive danceand all its participants, and direct the way they all are perceived in order to keep the intended audience engaged, excited, and entertained with the show. From the moment the episode starts, the classic good versus evil narrative begins, and the characters are quickly established for those who might not be loyal watchers. The opening few minutes showcase Abby Lee Miller. As the owner and director of the Abby Lee Dance Company, Abby tells her students and their mothers who did the best at the most recent competition, and who did the worst. She posts their faces in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Previous reviews of the literature have suggested that access to technology is inequitable (Jackson, Ervin, Gardner, Schmitt, 2001; Morgan VanLegen, 2005) and that students of color are less likely to use technology, and therefore, have fewer opportunities to use social media tools than their white peers (Volman van Eck, 2001). As such, this article reviews recent research on the use of technology and social media by students of color, and potential inequities in the use of social media for academic practice. • 45. Satire of the Knight in the Prologue and Knight s Tale of... Satire. Satire is a biting literary tool, one that Geoffery Chaucer used liberally when he wrote his Canterbury Tales. Webster s New World Dictionary says that satire is the use of ridicule, sarcasm, etc. to attack vices, follies, etc. Using that definition, I think that all of the pilgrims in the Canterbury Talesare satirized to some extent; some of the satirizations are more subtle than others. The Knight is one of the pilgrims that is more subtly satirized. Chaucer satirizes knights and chivalry in two different ways: in the prologue and in the Knight s Tale. The first way in the prologue is with the pilgrim Knight s character. Chaucer wanted to present a realistic knight, but he also wanted to give the Knight some very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hodges, featured in April 1995 edition of The Chaucer Review, Hodges examines the reasons behind Chaucer s decisions on the clothing of his Knight. After examining the introduction of the Knight s character in the General Prologue of the Canterbury Tales, Ms. Hodges said that Chaucer intended his Knight to be the one true to life portrait of a knight of the 14th century an every knight of sorts. She also concluded that Chaucer wanted to go against the normal chivalric ideal of a knight by presenting a knight as he really might have been: a basically good person, but with imperfections. I disagree with Hodges about Chaucer s intentions when characterizing the knight. I don t think the knight was meant to be a true to life portrait of the every knight . I think that the reason Hodges and I disagree has to do with the scope of our examination. Hodges was mostly examining the Knight s clothing, with only references to the rest of the Knight s description in the prologue, and only briefly mentions the Knight s Tale. I am looking at the Knight in a more general sense, and looking at clues in the entire description and the tale. One of the generalizations Hodges makes is that Chaucer s Knight is not romantically ideal. On this point, we definitely agree. There haven t been many changes in peoples conceptions of the ideal knight since the 14th century. The ideal knight is the one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The need for human to consistently travel and quench their curiousity through new discoveries had been evident since early civilization. Like those myths and legends of Gulliver s Travels to appease the curiousity of people in the pastof the vast , unknwon Eart, to the real history and conquers of Marco Popl, humans have never find it enough to stop unreveling the wonders of nature and Earth to cease travelling. Especially with the advancement of and improvement of transporttechnologies. When we needed months, even years, of perilous travels across oceans, now we just need a few luxurious hours on planes to reach our destinations.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The environment may be destroyed in the process of building these infrastructures, like the clearing of lands for not only the hotels and shops, but also for better accessibility and transport system. This may eventually lead to overcrowding of the tourist spot. Following are the air and noise pollution, unavoidable when overpopulation occurs. This further degrades the environment. Therefore tourism should be discouraged as it can cause great harm to the environment of that particular tourist spot with the influx followed by the tourism industry. Also the travelling in modern modes of transports like air palnes and various land transports releases large amount of carbon gases that can result in global temperature rise. And of course the rise in carbon emmision is a major influece from the rise in tourism as many prefer the mode of transport by air. The advancemnet of transporation technology by air has not only hasten travelling time, but as thismode of transport became more common, it became cheaper as well. Many budget airline companies are springing out, making travelling more affordable and more popular. However 12% of the world s carbon emmision is contributed by aviation. Although there are many other industries and activities, like factories wastes, which produce more carbon emmision than air travel alone, discouraging tourism (along with other sectors) can help cut down on the carbon emmision. For many years, members of the Bach family had held positions such as organists, town instrumentalists, or Cantors. When Bach was eight years old he went to the old Latin Grammar School. He was taught reading and writing, Latin grammar, and a great deal of scripture, both in Latin and German. The boys in the school formed the choir of the St. Georgenkirche. This also gave Bach an opportunity to sing in the regular services, as well as in the nearby villages. He has an uncommonly fine treble voice. By now Bach had high ideals for the church music of Germany. He began organizing the rather poor facilities of Muhlhausen; he started by making a large collection of the best German music available, including some of his own. The first result of these efforts was his cantata Gott ist mein Konig . This, incidentally, was the only one of Bach s cantatas to be published during his lifetime. This success gave Bach the hope to put in a long and detailed report, proposing a complete renovation and improvement of the organ. The council agreed to carry the proposals out, and Bach was given the job as supervising the work, for not only now was he a brilliant player, but he became an expert on constructing organs. The court orchestra consisted of twenty two players. Bach s function was mainly a violinist, however he also played harpsichord. Bach, on occasion, wrote some of the music that was played. During this period he wrote strictly for the organ, and he was rapidly becoming known throughout the country. As time went on, people were coming to see him far and wide. During the later years of his life Bach gradually withdrew inwards, producing some of the most profound statements of the baroque musical form. Bach s creative energy was conserved for the highest flights of musical expression: the Mass in b ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Later he is portrayed as a hero for the people. Towards the end he is depicted as a liar and a cheat whose only goal is to attain power. As you look over Antony throughout the play, you slowly start to see the real him which only comes out when he is given the chance to rise up on the political chain. In the beginning of the play, you hear very little of Antony. He is first mentioned during a scene where Caesar is in public about to watch men race. Antony is asked to touch Caesar s wife, Calpurnia, as he is running so that she may become pregnant. He agrees and is believed to have done so. After that, not much is heard of Antony up until the point where Caesar is killed. There it is debated whether or not Antony should be killed. It is decided that he will be spared because it is overkill to cut off arms and legs after the head has already been removed. The Roaring Twenties were the start of many important industries we have today, including automotive, radio, and fashion. The automotive industry really took off during this time period.
