This document discusses baby bottle tooth decay (BBTD). BBTD is severe decay of baby teeth that is preventable by not exposing a baby's teeth to sugary substances like juice or formula for prolonged periods. To prevent BBTD, a caregiver should put a baby to bed or nap with only a bottle of water or a pacifier, start giving the baby a cup around 6 months, and wean the baby off the bottle by 12-14 months. A caregiver should also brush their toddler's teeth at least twice a day.
