Babur, whose real name was Zahir-ud-din Muhammad, was the founder of the Mughal Empire in India. He was originally from the small state of Farghana in central Asia and ruled there under his father Mirza Umar Sheikh. In 1526, Daulat Khan invited Babur to invade India and defeat Ibrahim Lodhi, which he did at the Battle of Panipet. Babur went on to defeat the Rajput forces led by Rana Sanga at the Battles of Khanwa and Chanderi, establishing the Mughal Empire in India before his death in 1540.
