Azurite is a deep blue copper carbonate mineral. It forms crystals and is found in the United States, France, and other countries in copper ore deposits. Azurite has been used as an ornamental stone and blue pigment for centuries, as well as in jewelry. Upon weathering, azurite can transform into the green mineral malachite.
