Choosing the right cloud provider can be a challenge as every single
provider is good except that they may satisfy the needs of different
domains with differentiating features.
The common pitfalls that i have noticed is that people fall into the buzz
words that are currently making rounds but remember just because we
have heard about something very often doesn't really mean that it
satisfies what we are looking to accomplish.

I had several people tell me the mistakes they have done in choosing
providers or tools just because they are popular and paid a lot of
money while you can pay fraction of it to accomplish what is needed
and then scale as needed.

4. MARKET
DEFINITION/DESCRIPTION
Cloud compute IaaS - standardized, highly automated
offering, where compute resources, complemented by
storage and networking capabilities, are owned by a
service provider and offered to the customer on demand.
The resources are scalable and elastic in near real time,
and metered by use. Self-service interfaces are exposed
directly to the customer, including a web-based UI and an
API.
The resources may be single-tenant or multi-tenant,
and hosted by the service provider or on-premises in the
customer's data center.
