Question No.2
Find 15 cloud providers on high rating with their:
 Characteristics
 Benefits
 Customer feedback
 Price of services
 Providing services,
 Customer facilitation
 Challenges
Answer No. 2
1. Amazon Web Services (AWS)
 Characteristics
AWS offers a variety of services, all designed to deliver one set of functionalities. Each service
stands alone, but you can mix and match them to meet the specific needs of your application.
Each service is, well, a service, offered via an API. Some of you may choose to use Amazon’s or a
third party’s user interface, while others may choose to access AWS directly via APIs or the AWS
software development kit. No matter how you access the services, remember that each has its own
functionality and idiosyncrasies.
The AWS infrastructure is failure-prone, and Amazon achieves service robustness through
redundancy. For those services that Amazon offers service level agreements (SLAs), it commonly
maintains three copies of the computing and data associated with a service.
AWS is offered on an on-demand, pay for what you use model. AWS can be a fantastic bargain, with
very low costs when you’re first starting to develop an application. However, the meter is always
running, so to speak, so it’s important to track what you use.
AWS services are offered on a region- and availability zone-based partitioning. Accessing data in
one region from EC2 instances in another imposes network traffic charges, so knowing where your
data is located, and your applications need to run is important if you want to keep costs down.
 Benefits
Easy to use.
AWS is designed to allow application providers, ISVs, and vendors to quickly and securely host your
applications – whether an existing application or a new SaaS-based application. You can use the
AWS Management Console or well-documented web services APIs to access AWS’s application
hosting platform.
Flexible
AWS enables you to select the operating system, programming language, web application platform,
database, and other services you need. With AWS, you receive a virtual environment that lets you
load the software and services your application requires. This eases the migration process for
existing applications while preserving options for building new solutions.
Cost-Effective
You pay only for the compute power, storage, and other resources you use, with no long-term
contracts or up-front commitments. For more information on comparing the costs of other hosting
alternatives with AWS, see the AWS Economics Center.
Reliable
With AWS, you take advantage of a scalable, reliable, and secure global computing infrastructure,
the virtual backbone of Amazon.com’s multi-billion-dollar online business that has been honed for
over a decade.
Scalable and high-performance
Using AWS tools, Auto Scaling, and Elastic Load Balancing, your application can scale up or down
based on demand. Backed by Amazon’s massive infrastructure, you have access to compute and
storage resources when you need them.
Secure.
AWS utilizes an end-to-end approach to secure and harden our infrastructure, including physical,
operational, and software measures. For more information, see the AWS Security Center.

2. Microsoft Azure
Microsoft Azure is one of the fastest-growing clouds among them all. Azure was launched years
after the release of AWS and Google Cloud but is still knocking on the door to become the top cloud
services provider. Microsoft Azure recently won a $10 billion US government contract.
While Microsoft Azure revenue is difficult to predict, Microsoft broke down its revenue of the last
quarter into three categories, Productivity and Business Processes, Intelligent Cloud, and Personal
Computing. The respective revenue was $11.0 billion, $11.4 billion, and $11.3 billion.
Microsoft’s Azure revenue is expected to grow between $33 billion to $35 billion. This makes Azure
one of the most profitable cloud services in the world.
Azure Services
Azure offers hundreds of services within various categories including AI + Machine Learning,
Analytics, Blockchain, Compute, Containers, Databases, Developer Tools, DevOps, Identity,
Integration, Internet of Things, Management, Media, Microsoft Azure Stack, Migration, Mixed
Reality, Mobile, Networking, Security, Storage, Web, and Windows Virtual Desktop.
Features:
Windows Azure offers the most effective solution for your data needs.
It provides scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
It offers consistency across clouds with familiar tools and resources.
Allow you to scale your IT resources up and down according to your business needs.
3. Google Cloud Platform
The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a suite of cloud services hosted on Google’s infrastructure.
Google Cloud Platform is a suite of public cloud computing services offered by Google. Google
Cloud Platform, as the name implies, is a cloud computing platform that provides infrastructure
tools and services for users to build applications and services on top of. Google Cloud Platform
(GCP) is a portfolio of cloud computing services that grew around the initial Google App Engine
framework for hosting web applications from Google’s data centers. Since the launch of Google App
Engine in 2008, GCP has grown into one of the premier cloud computing platforms on the market,
though it still trails Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure in terms of market share.
Google Cloud Platform (GCP) includes a range of hosted services for compute, storage and
application development that run on Google hardware. Google Cloud Platform services can be
accessed by software developers, cloud administrators and other enterprises IT professionals over
the public internet or through a dedicated network connection. From computing and storage to

When to Use Google Cloud Platform:
Developers building cloud-native Web or mobile applications are often drawn to Google Cloud
Platform, particularly the App Engine PaaS.
When start-ups looking to scale rapidly, the cloud computing service’s commitment to
performance, innovation, openness, and low prices make it popular.
When it is difficult to estimate and compare public cloud prices, Google’s commitment to price
leadership makes it a good choice for budget-conscious organizations of all sizes, and certainly for
hybrid IT users.
Google offers strong capabilities in big data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
It had created and/or contributed to many of the most popular open-source projects in this area,
and it infuses its cloud offerings with that expertise.
Those big data capabilities are augmented by Google’s inexpensive cloud storage, which makes this
cloud platform cost-effective for storing large volumes of data.
Google is also working to distinguish itself in the area of container technology.
When looking for cloud-based container tools as Google created Kubernetes, open-source
container management solution that is integrated into its cloud, and it also has strong support for
Docker.
Features of Google Cloud Platform:
Pricing: Google recently shifted its pricing model to include sustained-use discounts and per-minute
billing. Billings starts with a 10-minute minimum and bills per minute for the following time.
Hosting: The Cloud Platform offers two hosting options: the App Engine, which is their Platform-as-
a-Service and Computes Engine as an Infrastructure-as-a-Service.
Containers: Containers are especially useful in a PaaS situation because they assist in speeding
deployment and scaling apps.
Big Data: The Google Cloud Platform offers a full big data solution, but there are two unique tools
for big data processing and analysis on Google Cloud Platform. First, BigQuery allows users to run
SQL-like queries on terabytes of data. Plus, you can load your data in bulk directly from your Google
Cloud Storage. The second tool is Google Cloud Dataflow. Also announced at I/O, Google Cloud
Dataflow allows you to create, monitor, and glean insights from a data processing pipeline.
Andromeda: Google Cloud Platform networking tools and services are all based on Andromeda,
Google’s network virtualization stack.
Load Balancing: In June, Google announced the Cloud Platform HTTP Load Balancing to balance the
traffic of multiple compute instances across different geographic regions.
Cloud Debugger: The Cloud Debugger gives developers the option to assess and debug code in
production. Developers can set a watchpoint on a line of code, and any time a server request hits
that line of code, they will get all of the variables and parameters of that code.
Cloud Trace: Cloud Trace lets you quickly figure out what is causing a performance bottleneck and
fix it. The base value add is that it shows you how much time your product is spending processing
certain requests.
Maintenance: Google does routine testing and regularly send patches, but it also sets all virtual
machines to live migrate away from maintenance as it is being performed. Compute Engine
automatically migrates your running instance.
Cloud Save: The Cloud Save API was announced at the 2014 Google I/O developers conference by
Greg DeMichillie, the director of product management on the Google Cloud Platform. Cloud Save is
a feature that lets you “save and retrieve per-user information.” It also allows cloud-stored data to
be synchronized across devices.

Pricing
Flexible plan (from €4/month or €0.006/hour)
With this package, the user can choose to configure the server’s hardware and software
specifications based on the programs they intend to run. The base hardware features that cost
€4/month are as follow; 1 core CPU, 1 GB RAM, 25Mbps, and 25GB SSD. The price for this package
will slightly increase based on the hardware features you decide to scale up.
Users that choose to subscribe to this package have the option to choose the Operating system and
the data center that they prefer using. Deploying a server after configuration takes an average of 40
seconds.
Fixed plan (from €4/month and €0.006/hour)
With this package, the hardware features for each pricing category are predetermined. The base
features for €4/month package are 1 core CPU, 1 GB RAM, 50Mbps, and 25GB SSD. The highest
possible hardware configuration includes 8 cores CPU, 48GB RAM, 720GB SSD, and 50Mbps
bandwidth. This kind of configuration costs €162.4/month or €0.226/hour.
The choice of the pricing plan to go with should largely depend on whether the predetermined
hardware configurations under the fixed plan suit the kind of programs you intend to run on the
servers. The flexible plan gives you the chance to customize the hardware configurations, but this
comes at a slightly higher fee than the fixed plan.
8. Linode
Linode is a cloud hosting service that specializes in high performance and lightning-quick SSD Linux
servers.
Christopher Aker launched the company back in 2003 and Linode has grown a lot since those
humble beginnings. By May 2008, the New Jersey-based operation made the switch from UML to
ZenUML visualization. A year later, they introduced a data backup service too.
Over the years, Linode has become a multinational company. Data centers have opened in England,
Japan, Singapore, and Germany. Meanwhile, it has endured security breaches in both 2012 and
2013. This ultimately led to improved security measures being established by the company.
This virtual private server (VPS) company now focuses primarily on cloud hosting. They host many
well-known clients, including The Onion and Accu Radio. In total, they serve over 400,000 Linux
customers, and that number continues to grow year on year.
Linode is a cloud hosting service that specializes in high-performance SSD Linux servers. It stands
out for its successful, innovative approach to security. This includes participation in the HackerOne
bug bounty program, which pays white-hat hackers to find vulnerabilities. While the company does
not use industry-standard terms (e.g., shared hosting, VPS hosting, etc.) to refer to its plans, they
are roughly equivalent to VPS hosting.
As a company, Linode prides itself in three key areas. The ingredients of simplicity, power, and
reliability are a recipe for success. And it can be used to help businesses at all stages of their
respective journeys.
Feature Overview
Along with a good variety of plans, Linode can aid your business with the following features:

10. Scalahosting
Scala Hosting is a web hosting company providing quality web hosting solutions. Our services
include, shared hosting, reseller hosting, cloud web hosting, virtual servers, cloud servers,
dedicated servers, domains registration, backup space, SSL certificates.
Features
Abundant Resources and Excellent Security Measures
Scala Hosting offers three types of hosting to choose from: Classic shared hosting, managed VPS
(virtual private server), and self-managed VPS. For small to medium-size websites, from personal
blogs to more advanced business pages, the shared hosting plans will be more than enough.
VPS, whether managed or unmanaged, is where the big boys come to play. Among its many
benefits, a VPS can comfortably house popular e-commerce stores and content portals. There is
almost no limit to what a VPS can do – by scaling up its resources, you’ll always be able to handle
more traffic and visitors.
I noticed the absence of dedicated servers and was actually very happy about it. It’s the most
expensive kind of hosting available, because you’re given full control of a physical server (shared
and VPS plans share a server’s resources with other customers). Very few websites need such
dedicated solutions and providing them is usually a classic case of a web host overreaching.
So, focus is the name of the game with Scala Hosting. Count me as a fan. A jack-of-all-trades
company is a recipe for disaster.
Let’s start with the shared hosting plans. Two subtypes seem to be available – web hosting and
WordPress hosting – but, there’s no difference between the two. I’ll simply refer to them both as
“shared hosting” from now on. Shared hosting comes in three plans, with the main variables being
available disk space and extra features.
I went with the simplest plan, Mini, and received a whopping 10 GB of storage space. This is enough
to host thousands of HD images, hours of HD videos, and a limitless amount of text. Still itching for
more. The other two plans come with unlimited disk space, if you adhere to the fair use policy (this
isn’t your remote backup drive).
A minor downside is that Scala Hosting’s plans aren’t 100% SSD. All around the world, SSD is
replacing the older and slower HDD drives, but as of today, Scala Hosting is still during upgrading its
storage drives. While this had the potential to affect speeds to some extent, I personally didn’t
notice any slowdown whatsoever.
Moving on. Great features like cPanel, free website migrations, unlimited websites, CMS (content
management system) auto-installers, backups, and SSL certificates are available with all three plans.
SSLs are a must for any serious website owner, as they encrypt your visitors’ connections and
ensure their privacy. With an SSL certificate, your site will also enjoy that nifty-looking padlock in
the address bar.
Powerful VPS Machines and the SPanel Control Panel
I mentioned earlier that a VPS has a lot to offer you, so let me expand on that. With regular shared
hosting, you share the server’s resources with many other users. That means that there’s always
the possibility that you won’t have enough CPU power or RAM memory to fully run your site.
Because you’re also sharing your IP address with your hosting neighbors, there’s the added risk of
getting blacklisted for their activities. For example, if another shared user on your server sends
spam marketing messages, or even offers pirated downloads, you’ll all get blacklisted together.
That means you not showing up on Google, and your emails going straight to spam.
A VPS solves all that, as you’ll get private access to a specific set of resources. Usually, true to the
Spider-Man motto, this newfound power comes with great responsibility. Compared to a shared
hosting plan, the administration and management of a VPS can be much more demanding. Unless…
you have SPanel.
SPanel, developed exclusively by Scala Hosting itself, is a VPS control panel like few others. It allows
you to easily configure the number of resources available for your websites, comes with built-in
security software, and supports the uber-fast NGINX web server technology. It also includes must-
have features like backups, usage statistics, and SSL integration.
SShield Protection Keeps You Safe
No matter which type of hosting you end up choosing, you’ll automatically be protected by Scala
Hosting’s SShield. It’s a complete security system containing around-the-clock monitoring, and it
currently boasts a 99.998% success rate in blocking attackers.
Think your website isn’t going to attract attackers, and you don’t have to worry about it? Think
again. Every single person online needs to worry about hackers. They have uses for even the
simplest of sites, though sometimes wreaking havoc is really all they’re interested in.
11. Cloudways
Cloudways is mainly known as a WordPress hosting platform. Whatever you need for your
WordPress site, you can expect Cloudways to be able to do that for you, like SSL installations,
HTTPS redirects, backups, and other tasks that can be tricky for not-so-experienced users.
Features
Custom control panel
After you created an account, you can manage your servers through Cloudways’ control panel. It’s
unlike the typical cPanel of most hosts, but Cloudways’ custom control panel is intuitive and
modern by itself. Through this panel’s menu, you can access Servers, Applications, Teams, and
Projects.
Application Management
Let’s talk about the settings found under Applications. Once you have set up a server, you can add
applications any time; for instance, WordPress.
Cloudways Add Application
You will then enter the Applications page. You can set up many things here through the tabs. One
relevant tab is for domain mapping.
Cloudways Add Domain
If you don’t have a domain name to be mapped or you haven’t registered one yet, you’ll be
provided a temporary URL by Cloudways. This way, you can start building a website and access the
control panel, as shown here.
Cloudways Temporary URL
There’s also a page for one-click SSL installation where you can install free Let’s Encrypt SSL
certificates. You can also get your certificates then install them here.
Cloudways SSL Certificate
Recovery is also a one-click operation, and it’s located under the Restore tab.
Cloudways Restore
Server management
Once you're done with setting up an application, you can now work on running the usual aspects of
your website under Servers.
Cloudways Master Credentials
There’s a page for monitoring CPU usage. This is very important as consistently high usages could
affect your website’s performance.
The services running on your server are listed under Manage Services. Here, you can start, stop, and
restart one or many services at any time.
Cloudways Manage Services
You can configure PHP settings, PHP and MySQL versions, and other server-level settings under
Settings & Packages.
Cloudways Settings and Packages
In the Security section, you can block certain IP addresses from gaining access to your resources.
Cloudways Security
If this isn’t enough, any expert users can log into the server via SSH to check and tweak the settings.
Cloudways also provides cloud-based firewall as protection against malware and other types of
cyberattacks.
Cloudways Backups
Lastly, there’s an SMTP tab for setting up outbound emails from your server.
Cloudways SMTP
Team management
A great collaboration feature, Team provides you a way to add team members and assign them full
or limited access to your website.
Cloudways Team
Staging and cloning
For changes you want to test first before making them permanent on your website, Cloudways’
staging will be a handy feature. Deploy a staging area, do the test, and when the changes look
good, you can push the changes to your actual website. This way, you won’t need to worry about
introducing harmful changes that you can’t reverse.
Cloudways Staging and Cloning
Cloning is somewhat similar to staging. You can make several clone sites when you’re changing to
new servers or showcasing your website to clients.
3. Advanced caching
Cloudways gets its server infrastructure from five cloud providers: DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, AWS,
and Google Cloud. All these providers are known to provide SSD-based VPS and dedicated servers,
which ensure fast server performance.
Apart from this cloud infrastructure, Cloudways takes advantage of several caching mechanisms to
optimize servers. The company uses an in-house caching plug-in called Breeze. This plug-in can be
easily set up, enabled, and disabled. More importantly, it supports Cloudway’s own content
delivery network called CloudwaysCDN.
CloudwaysCDN adds more speed and reliability by caching your web pages on different servers
located across the world. While this feature is not available for the free trial account, you can avail
it with any of Cloudways’ paid plan at a low cost. This feature is accessed under Application
Management and can be added with just one click.
CloudwaysCDN
Cloudflare CDN can also be used on websites deployed on Cloudways; Cloudfare will work alongside
Breeze. Other popular caching mechanisms Varnish and Redis are also supported, but Cloudways
recommends not to use both.
Vertical scaling
If for any reason you need to upgrade your server, you can increase your server resources in just a
few clicks through Vertical Scaling. The function is found as a tab under Server Management.
Cloudways Vertical Scaling
Scaling works both ways, which is a good thing. You can downgrade if you need to revert to your
previous hosting plan.
Customer support
Cloudways has 24/7 live chat support to provide you instant assistance. You can also request a call,
send an email, check the blog and knowledge base, or visit the community forum and Cloudways’
social media platforms. Cloudways also has CloudWaysBot that monitors the servers and gives
notification whenever there is an update or any issue.
Cloudways Pricing
Cloudways offers flexible pricing plans and operates on a “pay-as-you-go” model. You may find the
pricing complicated at first, as Cloudways has several plans based on its five different partners—
DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, AWS, and Google Cloud. Here are the plans:
Cloudways DigitalCOean Plans
Cloudways Linode Plans
Cloudways Vultr Plans
Cloudways Amazon Web Services Plans
Cloudways Google Cloud Plans
The basic plans under DigitalOcean and Linode are enough for starters. However, if you're a heavy
user, you should get one under the AWS or Google Cloud plans.
You may ask yourself: If Cloudways is using the infrastructure of these cloud providers, why can't I
go directly to these five companies? While you could get a lower price if you set up directly with
these five providers, remember that you'll be left to set up everything by yourself. With Cloudways
offering managed hosting support, you'll be free from the burden of doing complicated tasks.
If you want to give Cloudways first a try, then take advantage of the free three-day trial. It's short,
but you can build servers and test Cloudways' features right away without providing your credit
card details. This trial, however, is only available for DigitalOcean, Linode, and Vultr plans.
12. Liquidweb
Liquid Web is a privately held managed web hosting company that was founded by Jim Geiger in
1997. They own three data centers located in Lansing, Michigan.
Liquid Web has over 30,000 clients in over 150 countries and the company has received the INC.
5000 Fastest Growing Companies award for 9 years in a row.
Although this company has been around since 1997, it wasn’t until 2015 that they rolled out their
managed WordPress hosting packages at the Word Camp US convention.
Hosting Options
Liquid Web is a provider of advanced hosting, so the company is ideal for someone looking for more
than a shared hosting plan. Here’s how shared hosting differs from the options offered by Liquid
Web:
Virtual Private Servers (VPS) Plans
VPS plans are very similar to shared plans. There is a physical server that hosts multiple websites.
The biggest difference, however, is the increased performance offered by a VPS plan.
Web hosts maintain strict delineation between the sites hosting on a VPS server — whereas a
shared plan offers a pool of resources from which any site on that server can draw from, the
resources allocated to you on a VPS server can be used by your site only.
Dedicated Servers
Dedicated servers are those where the entirety of a server is used to serve your site and your site
only. You have full control over the configuration and set up of the server — whereas more limited
plans place restrictions on what software you can use and the like, dedicated servers allow you to
pick and choose the options that best meet the needs of your website.
Most importantly, these are the most secure and most performant hosting options, which is
important if you are handling highly sensitive information for a highly trafficked website. You can
certainly secure your site with a VPS plan (and sometimes a shared hosting plan), but dedicated
servers offer you the best in terms of security and performance.
Cloud Hosting
Cloud hosting basically means that your site is hosted on a distributed network of servers. The
specific distribution varies, but with cloud hosting, you get the perks of a distributed network:
reliability due to redundancy and failover, so your site continues to be accessible in case any single
(or even multiple) parts of the network fails.
Liquid Web Features
WordPress is one of the most popular content management systems, and it’s estimated that it
powers at least 25% of the web. As such, web hosting companies have been increasingly offering
hosting solutions that are catered specifically for this platform. One of the brands offering such
hosting plans is Liquid Web.
WordPress-Specific Hosting
Although this company has been around since 1997, it wasn’t until 2015 that they rolled out their
managed WordPress hosting packages at the Word Camp US convention.
Although a late entrant into the managed WordPress hosting niche, Liquid Web has raised the bar
for other service providers who want to offer a similar service. Find out what to expect from their
services by reading this Liquid Web managed WordPress hosting overview.
Do You Use WooCommerce?
Moreover, if you are a WooCommerce user, you will definitely want to check out Liquid Web. While
many hosts offer WordPress-specific hosting, Liquid Web offers hosted WooCommerce packages
designed to optimize the performance of online stores built on this platform. Bad performance
directly correlates to declines in profits, so as a small business owner, you will want to minimize the
possibility of such issues as much as possible.
Specialized Hosting
Finally, if you are a Microsoft user in need of specialized hosting (such as a web application that
runs on ASP.NET), you will find support for these with Liquid Web.
Try Liquid Web. 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee.
Main Features
When comparing Liquid Web managed WordPress hosting plans, there are five options from which
to choose. These plans include:
Personal
Professional
Agency
Enterprise
Agency Plus
Commerce
Depending on the selected plan, you can host between 10 and 200 WordPress sites while storage
space ranges from 100GB to 1TB.
Lower Level Plans and Pricing
Liquid Web’s entry-level prices are a bit higher than what most web hosts charge. Part of this has to
do with the fact that they offer managed WordPress hosting on a VPS environment. What’s more,
prices are inclusive of many other features that other web hosts offer as up-sells.
The following is a complete list of the main features to expect when you choose one of the fully
managed WordPress hosting plans from Liquid Web.
Control Panels
Liquid Web offers Plesk control panels for you to manage your website’s hosting environment and
server. While it’s not quite as popular as cPanel, it is still a commonly used option.
Plesk generally isn’t as easy-to-use as cPanel, but we do not expect you to have any difficulty
managing your domains, checking on your website’s resource usage, or utilizing the built-in account
management features. Both brands of control panels have a reputation for being user-friendly.
13. DigitalOcean
DigitalOcean is a cloud infrastructure solution that are designed to simplify web infrastructure for
developers. Each plan is affordable and feature-rich, as well as straightforward to configure.
Offering very basic services, namely VPS’s in the cloud and DNS management, Digital Ocean thrives
in being a simple cloud hosting solutions provider. It doesn’t provide load balancing, hosted
databases, and hadoop clusters, unlike many of its competitors. Boasting of simplicity and cost-
effectiveness, many businesses find Digital Ocean’s hosting plans a great partner to their success,
thanks to its low-priced products and high-performance virtual machines that grow with your
business.

Monitoring
GPUs
Ultimately, the dedicated servers are aimed at lower overheads while increasing security and
performance. The flexibility available ensures that all companies can do just this. By using these
three features, any business can fulfill their ultimate desires.
Hybrid Cloud
Arguably the biggest selling point for Rackspace’s services is the level of versatility. Computers play
such an integral role in modern business that all operations require services tailored to their goals.
Rackspace provides it in abundance.
Their infrastructure allows the customer to mix and match the three types of cloud computing
(public cloud, private cloud, or dedicated server) in any form deemed necessary.
Multi-Cloud Hosting
If you have multiple applications, you can opt for Multi-Cloud Hosting, where you rely on multiple

Nextcloud 23. Tresorit 24. CloudMe 25. Jottacloud Question No.2 Find 15 cloud providers on high rating with their:  Characteristics  Benefits  Customer feedback  Price of services  Providing services,  Customer facilitation  Challenges
  • 2. Answer No. 2 1. Amazon Web Services (AWS)  Characteristics AWS offers a variety of services, all designed to deliver one set of functionalities. Each service stands alone, but you can mix and match them to meet the specific needs of your application. Each service is, well, a service, offered via an API. Some of you may choose to use Amazon’s or a third party’s user interface, while others may choose to access AWS directly via APIs or the AWS software development kit. No matter how you access the services, remember that each has its own functionality and idiosyncrasies. The AWS infrastructure is failure-prone, and Amazon achieves service robustness through redundancy. For those services that Amazon offers service level agreements (SLAs), it commonly maintains three copies of the computing and data associated with a service. AWS is offered on an on-demand, pay for what you use model. AWS can be a fantastic bargain, with very low costs when you’re first starting to develop an application. However, the meter is always running, so to speak, so it’s important to track what you use. AWS services are offered on a region- and availability zone-based partitioning. Accessing data in one region from EC2 instances in another imposes network traffic charges, so knowing where your data is located, and your applications need to run is important if you want to keep costs down.  Benefits Easy to use. AWS is designed to allow application providers, ISVs, and vendors to quickly and securely host your applications – whether an existing application or a new SaaS-based application. You can use the AWS Management Console or well-documented web services APIs to access AWS’s application hosting platform. Flexible AWS enables you to select the operating system, programming language, web application platform, database, and other services you need. With AWS, you receive a virtual environment that lets you load the software and services your application requires. This eases the migration process for existing applications while preserving options for building new solutions. Cost-Effective You pay only for the compute power, storage, and other resources you use, with no long-term contracts or up-front commitments. For more information on comparing the costs of other hosting alternatives with AWS, see the AWS Economics Center. Reliable With AWS, you take advantage of a scalable, reliable, and secure global computing infrastructure, the virtual backbone of Amazon.com’s multi-billion-dollar online business that has been honed for over a decade. Scalable and high-performance
  • 3. Using AWS tools, Auto Scaling, and Elastic Load Balancing, your application can scale up or down based on demand. Backed by Amazon’s massive infrastructure, you have access to compute and storage resources when you need them. Secure. AWS utilizes an end-to-end approach to secure and harden our infrastructure, including physical, operational, and software measures. For more information, see the AWS Security Center.  Providing services Analytics Application Integration AWS Cost Management Blockchain Business Applications Compute Containers Customer Engagement Database Developer Tools End User Computing Front-End Web and Mobile Game Tech Internet of Things Machine Learning Management and Governance Media Services Migration and Transfer Networking and Content Delivery Quantum Technologies Robotics Satellite Security, Identity and Compliance Serverless Storage VR and AR 2. Microsoft Azure Microsoft Azure is one of the fastest-growing clouds among them all. Azure was launched years after the release of AWS and Google Cloud but is still knocking on the door to become the top cloud services provider. Microsoft Azure recently won a $10 billion US government contract. While Microsoft Azure revenue is difficult to predict, Microsoft broke down its revenue of the last quarter into three categories, Productivity and Business Processes, Intelligent Cloud, and Personal Computing. The respective revenue was $11.0 billion, $11.4 billion, and $11.3 billion. Microsoft’s Azure revenue is expected to grow between $33 billion to $35 billion. This makes Azure one of the most profitable cloud services in the world.
  • 4. Azure Services Azure offers hundreds of services within various categories including AI + Machine Learning, Analytics, Blockchain, Compute, Containers, Databases, Developer Tools, DevOps, Identity, Integration, Internet of Things, Management, Media, Microsoft Azure Stack, Migration, Mixed Reality, Mobile, Networking, Security, Storage, Web, and Windows Virtual Desktop. Features: Windows Azure offers the most effective solution for your data needs. It provides scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. It offers consistency across clouds with familiar tools and resources. Allow you to scale your IT resources up and down according to your business needs. 3. Google Cloud Platform The Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a suite of cloud services hosted on Google’s infrastructure. Google Cloud Platform is a suite of public cloud computing services offered by Google. Google Cloud Platform, as the name implies, is a cloud computing platform that provides infrastructure tools and services for users to build applications and services on top of. Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a portfolio of cloud computing services that grew around the initial Google App Engine framework for hosting web applications from Google’s data centers. Since the launch of Google App Engine in 2008, GCP has grown into one of the premier cloud computing platforms on the market, though it still trails Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure in terms of market share. Google Cloud Platform (GCP) includes a range of hosted services for compute, storage and application development that run on Google hardware. Google Cloud Platform services can be accessed by software developers, cloud administrators and other enterprises IT professionals over the public internet or through a dedicated network connection. From computing and storage to data analytics, machine learning, and networking, GCP offers a wide variety of services and APIs that can be integrated with any cloud-computing application or project—be it personal or enterprise-grade. Products offered form Google Cloud: Google Cloud Platform products span the following categories: Artificial intelligence & Machine Learning AI Hub (beta), Cloud AutoML (beta), Cloud TPU, Cloud Machine Learning Engine, Diagflow Enterprise Edition, Cloud Natural Language, Cloud Speech-to-Text, Cloud Text-to-Speech, Cloud Translation, Cloud Vision, Cloud Video Intelligence, Cloud Inference API (alpha), and more API management API Analytics, API Monetization, Cloud Endpoints, Developer Portal, Cloud Healthcare API Compute Compute Engine, Shielded VMs, Container Security, App Engine, Cloud Functions, GPU, and more

When start-ups looking to scale rapidly, the cloud computing service’s commitment to performance, innovation, openness, and low prices make it popular.
  • 6. When it is difficult to estimate and compare public cloud prices, Google’s commitment to price leadership makes it a good choice for budget-conscious organizations of all sizes, and certainly for hybrid IT users. Google offers strong capabilities in big data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. It had created and/or contributed to many of the most popular open-source projects in this area, and it infuses its cloud offerings with that expertise. Those big data capabilities are augmented by Google’s inexpensive cloud storage, which makes this cloud platform cost-effective for storing large volumes of data. Google is also working to distinguish itself in the area of container technology. When looking for cloud-based container tools as Google created Kubernetes, open-source container management solution that is integrated into its cloud, and it also has strong support for Docker. Features of Google Cloud Platform: Pricing: Google recently shifted its pricing model to include sustained-use discounts and per-minute billing. Billings starts with a 10-minute minimum and bills per minute for the following time. Hosting: The Cloud Platform offers two hosting options: the App Engine, which is their Platform-as- a-Service and Computes Engine as an Infrastructure-as-a-Service. Containers: Containers are especially useful in a PaaS situation because they assist in speeding deployment and scaling apps. Big Data: The Google Cloud Platform offers a full big data solution, but there are two unique tools for big data processing and analysis on Google Cloud Platform. First, BigQuery allows users to run SQL-like queries on terabytes of data. Plus, you can load your data in bulk directly from your Google Cloud Storage. The second tool is Google Cloud Dataflow. Also announced at I/O, Google Cloud Dataflow allows you to create, monitor, and glean insights from a data processing pipeline. Andromeda: Google Cloud Platform networking tools and services are all based on Andromeda, Google’s network virtualization stack. Load Balancing: In June, Google announced the Cloud Platform HTTP Load Balancing to balance the traffic of multiple compute instances across different geographic regions. Cloud Debugger: The Cloud Debugger gives developers the option to assess and debug code in production. Developers can set a watchpoint on a line of code, and any time a server request hits that line of code, they will get all of the variables and parameters of that code. Cloud Trace: Cloud Trace lets you quickly figure out what is causing a performance bottleneck and fix it. The base value add is that it shows you how much time your product is spending processing certain requests. Maintenance: Google does routine testing and regularly send patches, but it also sets all virtual machines to live migrate away from maintenance as it is being performed. Compute Engine automatically migrates your running instance.

Deploying a server after configuration takes an average of 40 seconds. Fixed plan (from €4/month and €0.006/hour) With this package, the hardware features for each pricing category are predetermined. The base features for €4/month package are 1 core CPU, 1 GB RAM, 50Mbps, and 25GB SSD. The highest possible hardware configuration includes 8 cores CPU, 48GB RAM, 720GB SSD, and 50Mbps bandwidth. This kind of configuration costs €162.4/month or €0.226/hour. The choice of the pricing plan to go with should largely depend on whether the predetermined hardware configurations under the fixed plan suit the kind of programs you intend to run on the servers. The flexible plan gives you the chance to customize the hardware configurations, but this comes at a slightly higher fee than the fixed plan. 8. Linode Linode is a cloud hosting service that specializes in high performance and lightning-quick SSD Linux servers. Christopher Aker launched the company back in 2003 and Linode has grown a lot since those humble beginnings. By May 2008, the New Jersey-based operation made the switch from UML to ZenUML visualization. A year later, they introduced a data backup service too. Over the years, Linode has become a multinational company. Data centers have opened in England, Japan, Singapore, and Germany. Meanwhile, it has endured security breaches in both 2012 and 2013. This ultimately led to improved security measures being established by the company.

In total, they serve over 400,000 Linux customers, and that number continues to grow year on year. Linode is a cloud hosting service that specializes in high-performance SSD Linux servers. It stands out for its successful, innovative approach to security. This includes participation in the HackerOne bug bounty program, which pays white-hat hackers to find vulnerabilities. While the company does not use industry-standard terms (e.g., shared hosting, VPS hosting, etc.) to refer to its plans, they are roughly equivalent to VPS hosting. As a company, Linode prides itself in three key areas. The ingredients of simplicity, power, and reliability are a recipe for success. And it can be used to help businesses at all stages of their respective journeys. Feature Overview Along with a good variety of plans, Linode can aid your business with the following features: 9 Datacenters across 3 separate regions Virtual console for server access Linode API Command-line access Custom stack deployment capability DNS manager Scaling and cloning Full IPv6 support Recovery mode also referred to as “Rescue mode” by Linode How Secure is Linode? Scalahosting Scala Hosting is a web hosting company providing quality web hosting solutions. Our services include, shared hosting, reseller hosting, cloud web hosting, virtual servers, cloud servers, dedicated servers, domains registration, backup space, SSL certificates. Features Abundant Resources and Excellent Security Measures Scala Hosting offers three types of hosting to choose from: Classic shared hosting, managed VPS (virtual private server), and self-managed VPS. For small to medium-size websites, from personal blogs to more advanced business pages, the shared hosting plans will be more than enough. VPS, whether managed or unmanaged, is where the big boys come to play. Among its many benefits, a VPS can comfortably house popular e-commerce stores and content portals. There is almost no limit to what a VPS can do – by scaling up its resources, you’ll always be able to handle more traffic and visitors.
  • 15. I noticed the absence of dedicated servers and was actually very happy about it. It’s the most expensive kind of hosting available, because you’re given full control of a physical server (shared and VPS plans share a server’s resources with other customers). Very few websites need such dedicated solutions and providing them is usually a classic case of a web host overreaching. So, focus is the name of the game with Scala Hosting. Count me as a fan. A jack-of-all-trades company is a recipe for disaster. Let’s start with the shared hosting plans. Two subtypes seem to be available – web hosting and WordPress hosting – but, there’s no difference between the two. I’ll simply refer to them both as “shared hosting” from now on. Shared hosting comes in three plans, with the main variables being available disk space and extra features. I went with the simplest plan, Mini, and received a whopping 10 GB of storage space. This is enough to host thousands of HD images, hours of HD videos, and a limitless amount of text. Still itching for more. The other two plans come with unlimited disk space, if you adhere to the fair use policy (this isn’t your remote backup drive). A minor downside is that Scala Hosting’s plans aren’t 100% SSD. All around the world, SSD is replacing the older and slower HDD drives, but as of today, Scala Hosting is still during upgrading its storage drives. While this had the potential to affect speeds to some extent, I personally didn’t notice any slowdown whatsoever. Moving on. Great features like cPanel, free website migrations, unlimited websites, CMS (content management system) auto-installers, backups, and SSL certificates are available with all three plans. SSLs are a must for any serious website owner, as they encrypt your visitors’ connections and ensure their privacy. With an SSL certificate, your site will also enjoy that nifty-looking padlock in the address bar. Powerful VPS Machines and the SPanel Control Panel I mentioned earlier that a VPS has a lot to offer you, so let me expand on that. With regular shared hosting, you share the server’s resources with many other users. That means that there’s always the possibility that you won’t have enough CPU power or RAM memory to fully run your site. Because you’re also sharing your IP address with your hosting neighbors, there’s the added risk of getting blacklisted for their activities. For example, if another shared user on your server sends spam marketing messages, or even offers pirated downloads, you’ll all get blacklisted together. That means you not showing up on Google, and your emails going straight to spam. A VPS solves all that, as you’ll get private access to a specific set of resources. Usually, true to the Spider-Man motto, this newfound power comes with great responsibility. Compared to a shared hosting plan, the administration and management of a VPS can be much more demanding. Unless… you have SPanel. SPanel, developed exclusively by Scala Hosting itself, is a VPS control panel like few others. It allows you to easily configure the number of resources available for your websites, comes with built-in
  • 16. security software, and supports the uber-fast NGINX web server technology. It also includes must- have features like backups, usage statistics, and SSL integration. SShield Protection Keeps You Safe No matter which type of hosting you end up choosing, you’ll automatically be protected by Scala Hosting’s SShield. It’s a complete security system containing around-the-clock monitoring, and it currently boasts a 99.998% success rate in blocking attackers. Think your website isn’t going to attract attackers, and you don’t have to worry about it? Think again. Every single person online needs to worry about hackers. They have uses for even the simplest of sites, though sometimes wreaking havoc is really all they’re interested in. 11. Cloudways Cloudways is mainly known as a WordPress hosting platform. Whatever you need for your WordPress site, you can expect Cloudways to be able to do that for you, like SSL installations, HTTPS redirects, backups, and other tasks that can be tricky for not-so-experienced users. Features Custom control panel After you created an account, you can manage your servers through Cloudways’ control panel. It’s unlike the typical cPanel of most hosts, but Cloudways’ custom control panel is intuitive and modern by itself. Through this panel’s menu, you can access Servers, Applications, Teams, and Projects. Application Management Let’s talk about the settings found under Applications. Once you have set up a server, you can add applications any time; for instance, WordPress. Cloudways Add Application You will then enter the Applications page. You can set up many things here through the tabs. One relevant tab is for domain mapping. Cloudways Add Domain If you don’t have a domain name to be mapped or you haven’t registered one yet, you’ll be provided a temporary URL by Cloudways. This way, you can start building a website and access the control panel, as shown here. Cloudways Temporary URL There’s also a page for one-click SSL installation where you can install free Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates. You can also get your certificates then install them here. Cloudways SSL Certificate Recovery is also a one-click operation, and it’s located under the Restore tab. Cloudways Restore
  • 17. Server management Once you're done with setting up an application, you can now work on running the usual aspects of your website under Servers. Cloudways Master Credentials There’s a page for monitoring CPU usage. This is very important as consistently high usages could affect your website’s performance. The services running on your server are listed under Manage Services. Here, you can start, stop, and restart one or many services at any time. Cloudways Manage Services You can configure PHP settings, PHP and MySQL versions, and other server-level settings under Settings & Packages. Cloudways Settings and Packages In the Security section, you can block certain IP addresses from gaining access to your resources. Cloudways Security If this isn’t enough, any expert users can log into the server via SSH to check and tweak the settings. Cloudways also provides cloud-based firewall as protection against malware and other types of cyberattacks. Cloudways Backups Lastly, there’s an SMTP tab for setting up outbound emails from your server. Cloudways SMTP Team management A great collaboration feature, Team provides you a way to add team members and assign them full or limited access to your website. Cloudways Team Staging and cloning For changes you want to test first before making them permanent on your website, Cloudways’ staging will be a handy feature. Deploy a staging area, do the test, and when the changes look good, you can push the changes to your actual website. This way, you won’t need to worry about introducing harmful changes that you can’t reverse. Cloudways Staging and Cloning Cloning is somewhat similar to staging. You can make several clone sites when you’re changing to new servers or showcasing your website to clients. 3. Advanced caching Cloudways gets its server infrastructure from five cloud providers: DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, AWS, and Google Cloud. All these providers are known to provide SSD-based VPS and dedicated servers, which ensure fast server performance.
  • 18. Apart from this cloud infrastructure, Cloudways takes advantage of several caching mechanisms to optimize servers. The company uses an in-house caching plug-in called Breeze. This plug-in can be easily set up, enabled, and disabled. More importantly, it supports Cloudway’s own content delivery network called CloudwaysCDN. CloudwaysCDN adds more speed and reliability by caching your web pages on different servers located across the world. While this feature is not available for the free trial account, you can avail it with any of Cloudways’ paid plan at a low cost. This feature is accessed under Application Management and can be added with just one click. CloudwaysCDN Cloudflare CDN can also be used on websites deployed on Cloudways; Cloudfare will work alongside Breeze. Other popular caching mechanisms Varnish and Redis are also supported, but Cloudways recommends not to use both. Vertical scaling If for any reason you need to upgrade your server, you can increase your server resources in just a few clicks through Vertical Scaling. The function is found as a tab under Server Management. Cloudways Vertical Scaling Scaling works both ways, which is a good thing. You can downgrade if you need to revert to your previous hosting plan. Customer support Cloudways has 24/7 live chat support to provide you instant assistance. You can also request a call, send an email, check the blog and knowledge base, or visit the community forum and Cloudways’ social media platforms. Cloudways also has CloudWaysBot that monitors the servers and gives notification whenever there is an update or any issue. Cloudways Pricing Cloudways offers flexible pricing plans and operates on a “pay-as-you-go” model. You may find the pricing complicated at first, as Cloudways has several plans based on its five different partners— DigitalOcean, Linode, Vultr, AWS, and Google Cloud. Here are the plans: Cloudways DigitalCOean Plans Cloudways Linode Plans Cloudways Vultr Plans Cloudways Amazon Web Services Plans Cloudways Google Cloud Plans The basic plans under DigitalOcean and Linode are enough for starters. However, if you're a heavy user, you should get one under the AWS or Google Cloud plans. You may ask yourself: If Cloudways is using the infrastructure of these cloud providers, why can't I go directly to these five companies? While you could get a lower price if you set up directly with
  • 19. these five providers, remember that you'll be left to set up everything by yourself. With Cloudways offering managed hosting support, you'll be free from the burden of doing complicated tasks. If you want to give Cloudways first a try, then take advantage of the free three-day trial. It's short, but you can build servers and test Cloudways' features right away without providing your credit card details. This trial, however, is only available for DigitalOcean, Linode, and Vultr plans. 12. Liquidweb Liquid Web is a privately held managed web hosting company that was founded by Jim Geiger in 1997. They own three data centers located in Lansing, Michigan. Liquid Web has over 30,000 clients in over 150 countries and the company has received the INC. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies award for 9 years in a row. Although this company has been around since 1997, it wasn’t until 2015 that they rolled out their managed WordPress hosting packages at the Word Camp US convention. Hosting Options Liquid Web is a provider of advanced hosting, so the company is ideal for someone looking for more than a shared hosting plan. Here’s how shared hosting differs from the options offered by Liquid Web: Virtual Private Servers (VPS) Plans VPS plans are very similar to shared plans. There is a physical server that hosts multiple websites. The biggest difference, however, is the increased performance offered by a VPS plan. Web hosts maintain strict delineation between the sites hosting on a VPS server — whereas a shared plan offers a pool of resources from which any site on that server can draw from, the resources allocated to you on a VPS server can be used by your site only. Dedicated Servers Dedicated servers are those where the entirety of a server is used to serve your site and your site only. You have full control over the configuration and set up of the server — whereas more limited plans place restrictions on what software you can use and the like, dedicated servers allow you to pick and choose the options that best meet the needs of your website. Most importantly, these are the most secure and most performant hosting options, which is important if you are handling highly sensitive information for a highly trafficked website. You can certainly secure your site with a VPS plan (and sometimes a shared hosting plan), but dedicated servers offer you the best in terms of security and performance. Cloud Hosting Cloud hosting basically means that your site is hosted on a distributed network of servers. The specific distribution varies, but with cloud hosting, you get the perks of a distributed network: reliability due to redundancy and failover, so your site continues to be accessible in case any single (or even multiple) parts of the network fails.
  • 20. Liquid Web Features WordPress is one of the most popular content management systems, and it’s estimated that it powers at least 25% of the web. As such, web hosting companies have been increasingly offering hosting solutions that are catered specifically for this platform. One of the brands offering such hosting plans is Liquid Web. WordPress-Specific Hosting Although this company has been around since 1997, it wasn’t until 2015 that they rolled out their managed WordPress hosting packages at the Word Camp US convention. Although a late entrant into the managed WordPress hosting niche, Liquid Web has raised the bar for other service providers who want to offer a similar service. Find out what to expect from their services by reading this Liquid Web managed WordPress hosting overview. Do You Use WooCommerce? Moreover, if you are a WooCommerce user, you will definitely want to check out Liquid Web. Specialized Hosting Finally, if you are a Microsoft user in need of specialized hosting (such as a web application that runs on ASP.NET), you will find support for these with Liquid Web. Try Liquid Web. 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee. Main Features When comparing Liquid Web managed WordPress hosting plans, there are five options from which to choose. These plans include: Personal Professional Agency Enterprise Agency Plus Commerce Depending on the selected plan, you can host between 10 and 200 WordPress sites while storage space ranges from 100GB to 1TB. Lower Level Plans and Pricing Liquid Web’s entry-level prices are a bit higher than what most web hosts charge. Part of this has to do with the fact that they offer managed WordPress hosting on a VPS environment. What’s more, prices are inclusive of many other features that other web hosts offer as up-sells.
  • 21. The following is a complete list of the main features to expect when you choose one of the fully managed WordPress hosting plans from Liquid Web.
