This document provides an overview of invasive prenatal procedures and screening practices from the perspective of Finnish hospitals. It notes that in 2014 there were over 56,000 births across 5 university obstetrics departments, with two-stage screening implemented since 2010. National screening rates for Down syndrome have increased from 77% in 2007 to 99% in 2013. Invasive diagnostic procedures in 2014 included over 800 amniocenteses, over 600 chorionic villus samplings, and over 2,800 cordocenteses performed across several hospitals.
