The 2012 Project is a national non-partisan campaign launched by the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) to increase the number of women elected to Congress and state legislatures in 2012. The goal is to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the 2012 elections to address the underrepresentation of women in political leadership positions. The campaign will provide training, fundraising support, and networking opportunities for potential female candidates. Speakers at the launch event made the case that more women are needed in office to address important issues and provide diverse perspectives, and emphasized that with the right preparation and support, more women should consider running for elected positions.
