Senator Susan Collins is our United States Senator representing the state of Maine.
Senator Collins exemplifies a transforming leader by working tirelessly for the people and
issues of Maine as well as for all the citizens of the United States. She is available to the
people and also asks for input from them. She is on several committees but still works
diligently for the concerns of Mainers.
How To spot A Transforming Leader
This represents only a fraction of the concern, the impact and the work of
Senator Collins. She is an example of the transforming leadership needed today: in our
governments and in our organizations.
--A transforming leader makes herself accessible to her followers.
Transformational leadership brings together the concerns of all players, with the goal of
encompassing and meeting the needs of all. A transforming leader also inspires those
around her to be better than they think they can be.
Senator Collins has six offices through out the state of Maine. Anyone is able to get their
thoughts to through email and phone.
Senator Collins has a reputation for working with those from all sides of an issue. Her
willingness to get things done and resolve conflicts illustrates her dedication.

The USDA proposed a rule to change the guidelines for the National School Lunch and
School Breakfast Programs. This change would have restricted the number of times certain
vegetables, in combination, could be served within a week.

allowing nutrition programs to continue to serve corn, potatoes, peas, and lima beans, as
nutrition guidelines are already in place.
While writing this amendment, Senator Collins reached out to school nutrition directors
across the state of Maine to get their input and hear their opinions.

Youth gangs affect society in several negative ways. Gangs are formed by both male and female adolescents and teenagers in both urban and rural areas. Gang members often use visual symbols like tattoos, graffiti, and hand signs to identify their affiliation. Violence is common, with assaults on rival gang members and increased violence and crime in schools located in large cities. Left unaddressed, involvement in gang activity can lead to more serious delinquent and criminal behavior over time. Prevention programs that teach youth about the dangers of gangs and provide alternatives have had some success in reducing gang formation and violence.

For the city council, Clyde Ru n was running for re-election against Pat Kelley and Andrew Hutchinson in the First Ward, while Art Jago and Matt Pitzer were competing for an open seat in the Fifth Ward. Three school board incumbents were seeking re-election. Five candidates were running for two open seats on the hospital trustee board. The author contacted Montana's congressional representatives regarding confusion over Medicare's cap on outpatient therapy services. The author sent letters to a House representative and two Senators in January and March 2018. Responses were received after the second attempt, providing clarification. Congress repealed the hard cap of $2,010 and established a $3,000 threshold, above which ongoing medical necessity must be demonstrated. Actions were also taken to cover speech-generating devices under Medicare. The author chose to interact with representatives to directly get answers, rather than relying on internet sources, as therapy services have become personally relevant.

The act of leading an organization or group of people plays a leading role in effecting change.
However, it can also hinder change in an organization or society.
Some of the leadership styles that have proved valuable over years include charismatic and transformational leadership styles.
Introduction
While charismatic and transformational leadership styles have been used by many leaders who are considered to be good leaders, there are significant differences between the two. The differences can be identified from how particular leaders employed charismatic and transformation leadership traits. These traits impact my leadership style daily. Depending on my target audience for the task at hand to be completed.

Charismatic leadership relies on the leader’s charm and attraction to create inspired and devoted followers towards the leader (Nikoloski, 2015) while transformational leadership establishes a collective vision to create change in individuals and social systems.
Nelson Mandela is one of the well known charismatic leaders while Martin Luther King is well known for his transformational leadership traits.
Introduction
Through the leadership styles of Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King, several differences between charismatic and transformational leadership can be identified. I prefer the Charismatic leadership style, because I believe that my subordinates are devoted followers of my organization.

Youth gangs affect society in several negative ways. Gangs are formed by both male and female adolescents and teenagers in both urban and rural areas. Gang members often use visual symbols like tattoos, graffiti, and hand signs to identify their affiliation. Violence is common, with assaults on rival gang members and increased violence and crime in schools located in large cities. Left unaddressed, involvement in gang activity can lead to more serious delinquent and criminal behavior over time. Prevention programs that teach youth about the dangers of gangs and provide alternatives have had some success in reducing gang formation and violence.

Some of the leadership styles that have proved valuable over years include charismatic and transformational leadership styles.
Introduction
While charismatic and transformational leadership styles have been used by many leaders who are considered to be good leaders, there are significant differences between the two. The differences can be identified from how particular leaders employed charismatic and transformation leadership traits. These traits impact my leadership style daily. Charismatic leadership relies on the leader’s charm and attraction to create inspired and devoted followers towards the leader (Nikoloski, 2015) while transformational leadership establishes a collective vision to create change in individuals and social systems.
Nelson Mandela is one of the well known charismatic leaders while Martin Luther King is well known for his transformational leadership traits.

Introduction
Leadership can be exhibited in different ways where the leaders use different methods of administration to influence the people. The leaders also have different beliefs and attitudes. Colin Kaepernick was born in Milwaukee in 1987. He was adopted at an early age of about two weeks by white parents even though he was bi-racial. He began playing football when he was at the age of eight years which elevated him to the quarterback. When he joined the high school at John H. Pitman High School, he became an all successful football although the major college football programs later passed him. This is because he had developed a throwing problem which depicted problems in his playing. This was a challenge that saw him pushed to the back throughout the rookie season (Branch, 2017).
After college, Collin was able to adapt to the competition, and he was soon dominating the NFL and won a few other games. Some of the significant challenges include a shoulder injury in 2015 when he also lost his starting job and started wishing for his trade off to another team. In August 2016 Colin also got into a controversial debate when he did not stand for the National Anthem. Throughout this period up to 2017 he still did not have a team when, and in October 2017, he filed a lawsuit against the NFL owners’ collusion who failed to offer him employment. This is because Collins had provided exemplary leadership and advocating for equality and social justice. In December 2017 he was awarded the Eason Monroe Courageous Advocate Award. In September 2018, he has announced the face of Nike (Branch, 2017).Leader evaluation
Colin is a football player who is a polarizing figure in American sports with a popular culture that is galvanizing and so appreciated by the people and his fans. He has displayed leadership in different ways. Kouzes and Posner suggest the Five Practices of Effective Leaders in analyzing and evaluating leaders (Hutton, 2012). This model shows that leadership is not about personality but behavior and observable skills. Even when leaders have diverse characteristics regarding age, culture or ethnicity. This model is essential when developing a non-obstructed path for leaders and teams. These models show that every person is a leader despite their official titles and roles.
Model the way
The first practice is to model the way. Hutton (2012), points out that by shaping the way, leaders can model the way by clarifying the way and setting an example to the people through their behaviors, attitudes and also in their effectiveness. One of the best ways to fix by example is to set principles that they can follow because the individuals being led will always consider the lead.
