The Hispanic Influence in the Phillapines
We define culture as the manifestation of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively
(Mangahas). Culture is very important to each country in this world. It is crucial to the makeup of a
country and the diversity each country has. Today in the Philippines, the Hispanic influence is seen
everywhere you go. In the past, the Philippines governed by both Mexico and Spain. Influences you
will see are the language, food, and dance. Influences from the US are the use of English language and
the modern pop cultural. Religion is an important part of a country s culture. Majority of the Filipino
population is Roman Catholic. Catholics makeup about 82% of the religions practiced. The next
biggest religion is Islam. Muslims makeup around 5% ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They saw what independent control looked like and wanted the same for themselves. They came back
to the Philippines viewing the Spanish rule with distain and hatred. A small revolt occurred into place
in 1872 that did not accomplish what they wanted but set up another revolt that would happen twenty
years later. In 1892, nationalists began to organize within secretly. They were all committed to
independence and would do whatever it took to gain it. In 1895, Emilio Anguinaldo became its leader
in the Cavite Province. In 1896, the revolutionists began the fighting in Manila. Once they attacked
the capital, the revolt quickly spread throughout the country (Mangahas). The Americans entered the
war wanting to end the Spanish rule of the Philippines. This was the start of the Spanish American
War in the Pacific. The first battle that the Americans fought against the Spanish was the Battle of
Manila Bay. The United States Navy commander, Commodore George Dewey, was aboard the USS
Olympia. The squadron defeated the Spanish squadron in less than three hours. They destroyed the
squadron and took control of the harbor at Manila Bay. After this battle, the bay had ships from
Britain, Germany, and France. The Germans were there to protect German interests but were
constantly being a pain for the Americans. A move that changed the war was Commodore Dewey

Sigmund Freud s Five Lectures On Psychoanalysis
In Sigmund Freud s Five Lectures on Psychoanalysis, he introduces theories regarding repressed
memories as a source for mental disturbances and methods of retrieving these memories. Freud
introduces techniques such as dream interpretation, word association, and hypnosis as methods for
treating symptoms of mental disturbances; it is for these discoveries that Sigmund Freud is considered
the father of psychoanalysis. According to neuropsychologist Paul Broks, Freud might also be
considered one of the founders of neuropsychology (Broks 1). In Paul Broks essay The Ego Trip:
Denial, Defense Mechanisms, Repression, Broks states that he believe that because many of Freud s

Freud is held most famous for introducing psychoanalysis as a method of mental health treatment.
Psychoanalysis is a psychological theory that investigates the conscious and subconscious minds with
the goal of treating mental disturbances. Psychoanalysis essentially retrieves a patient s repressed
feelings and fears to the surface with techniques such as hypnosis, word association, dream
interpretation, and hesitations and fumbles. Although Freud was not originally a fan of hypnosis, it
was theorized to be an effective of way of channeling the subconscious mind. Word associations are
the first things that come into mind. It goes straight through the id, so there is no time to channel the
ego or superego. In other words, when someone says the first word that goes through their mind, it
gives Freud a way to see into their subconscious mind and discover the trauma that the patient may
have experienced. The patient does not have the opportunity to over think about what he is saying.
According to Freud, dreams arouse feelings that are disguised and the unconscious mind can be
investigated by tracking and interpreting dreams. An example of a hesitation or fumble is a Freudian
slip, which is when someone

Albert Bandura Contributions To Human Behavior
Albert Bandura made significant contributions when in reference to studying behavior in humans.
Some of his contributions include social cognitive theory, vicarious enforcement, extensive research
on human behavior, with a significant finding in relation to children, self efficacy, and the famous
BoBo doll experiment. Bandura was Canadian born and his parents placed high expectations when it
came to his education, Banduras first job was in the construction field, where he spent his days filling
potholes, eventually bandura enrolled at The University of British Columbia where he carpooled with
premed students and engineers, so he had to get to class pretty early. Bandura signed up for an
introductory psychology course because it fit with his morning schedule while waiting for his English
class to begin. Bandura eventually earned his graduate degree from The University of Iowa in 1952,
which eventually led to him teaching at the University of Stanford. That was the start of his career
pathway in becoming a social psychologist and contributing immensely to the field.
Bandura studied social cognitive theory, however; his research was more focused on observation with
importance surrounding reinforcement and reward. Bandura believed that the reactions were activated
by the human and that the human would react that way expecting to receive the same reinforcement,
meaning the human would react to the stimuli a certain way while expecting the reinforcement or
punishment. Also,

Data And Data Analysis Paper
The world is converging toward a critical point in history where the question has to be asked, will
there be enough resources to go around? Populations around the globe are growing and moving out of
poverty towards the consumption based lifestyles of western countries. This means more is needed,
more oil, more water, and more food. These resources are finite, limited, and often wasted. Through
the use of technology and data, these resources can be better utilized. Data and data analysis will allow
these systems to be optimized to produce more and waste less. The goal of this project is to use data
and apply it to the field of plant growth and agriculture. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a data driven
technology that seeks to integrate and connect everyday devices and sensors. This data infrastructure
can be used for a variety of applications such as home automation, industrial manufacturing,
healthcare, and smart agriculture. Although each application is derived from a significantly different
field, the underlying communication protocols are very similar and must adhere to similar constraints.
The constraints of low power devices, lossy links, noisy environments, and embedded
microcontrollers with limited memory and processing power. These protocols are the basis of the IoT
protocol stack. They create the framework that determines how data is transferred within an IoT
network [3][4]. The focus of active IoT research is shifting towards data, how data is sent, how

Persuasive Essay About Vegas Hockey
Las Vegas is spending tons of money to build an arena. The plan is for the venue to host numerous
events including Hockey. People in the sports world have overhyped it. Personally I could care less
about the Vegas team. I disagree with the people who support the club. The NHL is a complete joke.
Vegas is and always will be sin city. Local fans won t support hockey and the team will struggle. Here
are three more reasons why you shouldn t care; about Vegas hockey. 3.The ownership cares more
about real estate and entertainment. The maloofs and *name of owner* can spend hours promoting

Napoleon Bonaparte And George Washington
In the middle of three significant historical events, we find two notable men, Napoleon Bonaparte, and
George Washington. The U.S American Revolution, 1775 1783(History Online) the end of the French
Revolution, 1789 1799 the commencement of the Napoleonic Era, 1804 1815(Bonjour la France).
Two Revolutions, two Generals, on two Continents. Bonaparte and Washington fought for equality,
freedom, and fraternity for their homelands. This essay will compare and contrast Napoleon Bonaparte
and George Washington by their education, most significant battle, and achievements.
The question is, was Napoleon Bonaparte a dictator, or one of the most remarkable military strategist?
Opinions are diverse about the man who crowned himself as an Emperor. In fact, this explains
Napoleon s words when he said: Circumstances what are circumstances? I make circumstances
(Biography/Online). On the other hand, George Washington the Commander in Chief of the
Continental Army was the first President of the United States of America (The White House), who
said, If we mean to support the liberty and independence which have cost us so much blood and
treasure to establish, we must drive far away the demon of party spirit and local reproach George
Washington. (Forbes/Online).
While Napoleon was a man of a short stature, contradictory, exalted mind, extroverted and intelligent,
he also had the gift of talent, and charisma to convince and lead the audiences. He was also an

Canadian Men s Health Issues
Men s Health Issues and the Canadian Men s Health Foundation
The first thing that comes to mind when talking about men s health are the health issues exclusively
faced by men, such as prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction. However, men are also known to
predominantly experience not so gender specific health conditions, for instance cardiovascular
diseases and diabetes. It is the objective of Canadian Men s Health Foundation (CMHF), a non profit
organization established in 2014, to raise social awareness on few of men s major health risks and

Men s Health Issues and the Social Determinants of Health
Broader than habits and lifestyles, men s health are influenced by economic and social conditions that
individuals experience or known as social determinants of health (SDOH). Men s health issues, such
as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes are caused by limited or no income and resources, and adverse
early life experiences and living conditions across lifespan. How these SDOH lead for someone to
have heart diseases and diabetes are explained through the following models.

How Language Affects Culture And Woman
Throughout history men have always been consider to be the more dominant and aggressive sex
therefore allowing them to take on more of a powerful and leadership like role amongst their
community. Although this sort of power has been in play for generations it has allowed for woman to
not always be able to express their opinions on a particular subject or be heard by the male population
at all. In today s society we still see many examples of how men are still dominating culture and the
language that surrounds it through the idea of muted group theory and the relationship it has between
men and woman A prime example of how language affects culture and woman are how we still use
certain words to describe objects or people in either a masculine or feminine sense. Words like Mr.
and Mrs. show the title of a person but when it comes to woman it shows their marital status. Whereas
with men it doesn t put emphasis on anything other than their gender. This example in today s society
shows to a sense that woman is sometimes thought of as objects or a piece of property that can be
owned rather than a human being with rights and opinions. Another example of language is when
people refer to professional jobs in the work force or when referring to a group of people by using a
masculine association with each term. The terms policeman, fireman, postman or using the phrase you
guys are all examples of how we as a society use masculine identities to describe a group of people
that can be

The World Bank, as an institute that offers loans and help countries design policy that will improve

sectors. This led to an increased public sector which made up of forty five percent of the gross

Rising Star Cave Research Paper
About two years ago, scientists spelunked their way through the Rising Star Cave in Johnanesburg,
South Africa, hoping to find fragments of the creatures who had lived there eras before. They found
more than they had ever imagined more than 1,550 bones in a one square yard area and soon realized
that the specimens seemed humanlike. They d discovered an ancient human ancestor.
On Thursday, a team of more than 60 scientists led by American paleoanthropologist Lee Berger
officially announced the new species. They christened it Homo naledi. Naledi means star, and was
chosen because of the location where the fossils were found.
Berger and his team were able to complete the excavation with funding from National Geographic,
which, in an article detailing the new species, claims This Face Changes the Human Story.

They found more than 20 individuals of this early ancestral species. So, there is another example in
the fossil record of people doing this thing, but this is a different scale. No one s ever found anything

They ve excavated 1,500 bones so far, but a lot of individuals were dumped into this pit or this cave.

Theatrical Companies And The Role Of Controversies In Theatre
Theatrical companies and the role of patrons
Despite the fact that theatre was enjoyed throughout the community, the first theatre wasn t built until
1576. Therefore before the construction of the theatres, actors would travel from town to town.
Travelling was dangerous, especially with frequent outbreaks of the Bubonic plaque. Strangers were
also viewed as suspicious in those days, meaning people were cautious of actors. They had the
reputation of being dishonest and homeless.
As disease rates increased and more and more actors wanted to travel across England, a license was

Playhouses were undercover theatres that were converted from old Inns and other existing buildings.
Most people associated Elizabethan Theatres with the ones built in a similar style to the Globe
Theatre.
It usually took around six months to build an Elizabethan Theatre. They were up to 100 feet in
diameter and were Octagonal or circular in shape with between 8 and 24 sides. The open air arena of
the amphitheatre was called the pit or the yard . The stage of the amphitheatre projected halfway into
the pit . It had a raised stage at one end which was surrounded by three tiers of roofed galleries with
balconies overlooking the back of the stage.
The grounds of the theatre were busy with people, there would have been stalls to purchase food,
water and merchandise. There was usually one main entrance to the theatre, however there were
sometimes external staircases to access the galleries. The performances were usually held in the
afternoon, in order to gain maximum natural lighting, however artificial lighting was occasionally
used. There was no heating in the theatre, however this wasn t really an issue. In summer the plays
were performed in the outdoor theatres and during winter they were performed in the indoor,

Critical Analysis Of Requiem For A Dream
Requiem for a Dream is a 2000 psychological drama directed by Darren Aronofsky. The story follows
four characters as they struggle with, and eventually succumb to their different addictions. This leads
to the characters imprisonment in a world of delusions and reckless desperation that is eventually
overtaken by reality. The film makes effective use of imagery and sound to create the feeling of the
film reeling towards the end at an impossible pace. By the end of the movie, the characters are
completely changed: withered, broken, and alone. Requiem for a Dream was screened at the 2000
Cannes film festival, and was met with primarily positive reviews.
Darren Aronofsky created the feeling of the film speeding up by shortening the length of the scenes as
the film progresses. At the beginning of the movie scenes are 90 seconds to 2 minutes in length, and it
s by shortening the length of scenes and frames that he created a sense of unease within the audience.
It s also reflective of the emotional states of the characters. At the beginning of the film, the characters
aren t necessarily too far gone to be saved. They still have time for each other, for their future, and
their plans. But as the scenes shorten their chances of saving themselves become slimmer. They
characters find themselves more and more alone as they becomes slaves to their addiction, doing
whatever they can to get their next fix.

The Influence Of Social Media On The Fashion Industry
Influence of Social Media on the Fashion Industry According to Katie Hope, from the BBC News,
Burberry, a fashion retailer, has nearly 40 million followers across 20 different social media platforms
and openly admits that it has become as much a media content producer as a design company.
Burberry, as well as other name brand designers, has ditched the catwalk and other ancient fashion
rituals for a more edgy approach towards promoting their identity. During the turn of the century, the
creation of media outlets are used by both consumers and producers alike. The producers within the
industry, use the top three social media platforms, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, to project
upcoming sales, designer lines, and hire famous people from all different fields to advertise their
brand, (Moving Faster). Although many in the fashion industry continue to utilize magazines and
commercials to promote their brands, this practice has become less common due to the rapid
development of various social media outlets. Fashion producers need to embrace social media as an
increasingly important platform with which to promote their products because of its large fan base,
relatively inexpensive means of spreading the word and its very wide adoption for millennials but
increasingly more so for people of all generations.
Due to the invention of social media, many producers have approached celebrities, many of whom
have a large quantity of followers, to use their accounts in order to reach a

States Of Feelings Through Collaboration Or Series
States of Feelings through Collaboration or Series
Everyone has feeling whether they show them or not, and they have a great impact on how, what and
why we create art. However, how much of our emotions are shown through our facial expressions?
How well can another read those expressions versus how well can we read that same person s of state
of emotion through their art. None the less anger may result in strong gestural painting. Addition to
anger any strong emotion can come through in whatever we create.
History shows us that great works can come from a highly agitated state of emotion. This goes along
with what Edvard Munch said about The Scream (1893), For several years I was almost mad... You

What is the juxtaposition between the feeling in the photograph and the title.
If we observe the color pallets used in the examples we can see that they inspire melancholy in the
audience. Color can be pivotal when expressing your state of feelings.
How much do our deeper emotions drive our creations and do we ever hold back for fear of
repercussions from our audience? Are you willing to put raw emotion out there for others to judge?
How would you feel about sharing that with someone else? Collaborating on a piece that is deeply
involved with your feelings. Would you feel safe to express your state of feeling through a work with
another. Art evokes strong feelings in those that perceive it. When we look at art our state of feeling
changes depending on what you see.
Feelings are a fluid experience, constantly changing throughout the day. What would happen if you
recorded your state of feeling over a period of time? The picture to the left is of the National
Geographic s Girl with the Green Eyes. The photograph was taken years apart yet it still elicits a
strong emotional response from the viewer.

Ed Gein Beliefs
Ed Gein was born August 27, 1906 and had an older brother, Henry Gein and was raised by an
alcoholic father and a religious mother who told them them that woman were bad (except for her). She
would divorce him, but that is bad for her religion. Ed and Henry were not allowed to make friends
because of her religion. Their mom abused them and told them that they were going to be failures like
their dad so she didn t treat them well because they were going to be failures. He was not allowed to
leave the farm unless he was going to school so he had no friends. When he got older, his brother told
him to leave because his mom would not let them have freedom because of their religion. In 1940
Geins dad died from a heart attack from his drinking. On May 16 1944 there was a fire close to the

Theodore Gein killed 54 year old Mary Hogan with a .22 caliber rifle, he found her at a tavern (bar).
When he killed her he decapitated her head and put her head in a paper bag. In November 16 1957 he

and, he placed her head in a burlap sack (a bag) . When he got done killing them, he used their body
parts as materials like bowls from skulls, human skin that covered the chairs, a lampshade that was
made from human faces, and organs in the refrigerator. When he was caught, he didn t go to jail, but
was called insane and when to the mental hospital, but in July 26, 1954 he died from respiratory

Surrounded By Happiness Rhetorical Analysis
Surrounded By Happiness My exhibit is called Surrounded by Happiness, to show how happiness can
depend on our surroundings. Although happiness can come from a color, location, and doing the
things we love; the one thing that makes happiness almost universal is being surrounded by people
and things who can help bring out the happiness within us. When we are accompanied by someone
who is cheerful and has positive energy, it rubs off and in turn, makes the people surrounding them
happy too. It is simple to find happiness and sometimes the littlest things can bring happiness to us
and often times it is taken for granted in our daily lives. The theme of this exhibit is to show how
people can contribute to daily happiness even when it s just from their attitude, energy, and presence.
Also, to show how it is important to know who and what we surround ourselves with and how they
can affect us. When we are surrounded by people that are positive, cheerful, and fun; it affects
everyone around us. In The Cordoba Fair, there are two women performing an act that is cheerful, full
of energy, and are having fun doing what they love. This makes the audience filled with joy and
everyone is seen with a smile on their face. The shades of blue and red on their clothing add to the
cheerful mood of the painting. This illustrates the theme of happiness by showing how being
surrounded by a group of different people can contribute a

Why Do Parents Need To Spank Essay
Most parents have debates in whether to spank or not spank when it comes to their children discipline.
However, the first and the most common response of many parents are to spank, then probable trouble
back in their mind and ask themselves, did my response was okay? Many parents do not even bother
to stop and think through their actions. Commonly corporal punishment comes out of hands; it is not
disciplined anymore it becomes abuse. All parents have their tradition of discipline and probably
believe is the correct one, because they were taught that way, some are okay, but others are NOT
correct. Although some of the parents blame their own child, themselves or whatever is happening
around them. The parents need to discipline their child in a way that is not ... Show more content on

Although some studies show that a parent uses more corporal punishment from the time a child is 1 ½
to 3 years old (Socolar, R. S., Savage, E., Evans, H. 2007, p.476). Most children get spank or punish,
even do they do not know what they do; they are just a child who is trying to experiment with life.
However, parents use corporal punishment in kids who are not capable of understanding jet.
Nevertheless, these children are learning obedience through use of physical force with the intention of
causing a child to experience pain, but no injury, for the purpose of correction or control of a child s
behavior (Fréchette, S., Zoratti, M., Romano, E. 2015, p.135), (Straus and Donnelly 2001, p.4). Even
so, the used of corporal punishment can make a child more aggressive instead of correcting their
behavior, the frequent use of physical punishment the child thinks that is part of life, and that is the
way to show love. Does corporal punishment is the only way that a parent can harm a child? Given a
child whatever they want just because the parent does not want to deal with yelling, crying, or any
action that would interrupt their

Art Nouveau Rhetorical Analysis
The article that I chose to analyze was The Role of Women in the Iconography of Art Nouveau by Jan
Thompson. The main argument in this essay is the depiction of women as objects in the Nouveau style
and how they were highly idealized and depicted very differently than they appeared in real life. The
intended audience for this essay is women. The author was able to successfully argue and prove their
thesis through historical perspective, detailed analyses of the depiction of women as objects, and the
use of relevant primary sources. Thompson gives a brief description of what was happening during the
time of the Art Nouveau style and how it affected the depiction of women. During this time, suffrage
was beginning to take hold in society and women were beginning to embrace their own individualism
and began taking their lives into their own hands. The author argues that the depiction of women as
highly idealized objects was a reaction to this movement and was an attempt by artists to resist the
changes in society. The depiction of women as fragile, helpless objects was to reinforce the belief that
women were inferior to men. The idealization of women in the Art Nouveau style was an attempt by
artists of the time to reinvigorate the ideas of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She argues that Job Cigarettes by Alphonse Mucha shows how women were used as sexual objects in
advertising. This supports her thesis, as using women as an appealing factor in advertising during the
time shows how women were considered objects in the Art Nouveau style. Delftsche Slaolie by Jan
Toorop also shows how hair was used as an exaggeration of women s sexuality. The use of women as
sexual objects in a simple salad oil advertisement further reinforces the idea that women were objects
meant to appeal towards male audiences. Using works from the time gives her argument credibility
because she is supporting her thesis with works from the Art Nouveau

Imperialism In Vietnam Essay
The United States stands for liberty and Justice. Yet during the 20th century, this reputation was
greatly damaged. The government began to focus on power and controlling other countries instead.
The United States focus on imperialism is shown by its fight against communism, its use of
propaganda to exaggerate its influence around the world, and its involvement in the Vietnam War. The
Vietnam War was related to America s fear of communism and showed how far the United States
would go to inflict its policy on other nations. During this time the U.S. government did not consider
Vietnam s perspective on the war nor estimate the casualties. The citizens of Vietnam did not deserve
to be plagued by death and destruction, and the U.S. should absolutely never have been involved.
American imperialism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imperialism is a policy of extending a country s power and influence throughout diplomacy or military
force. America has used this method on many nations, especially in the Vietnam war. The war started
from 1954 1975, and was highly destructive. The disagreement of communism led to many
unjustifiable and unpeaceful acts by the U.S. Their involvement made an unnecessarily long and
deadly war where the result was the deaths of thousands of Vietnamese citizens. Many of them
suffered the horrible conditions brought by the battle. America aided South Vietnam against the
communist North Vietnam and its allies known as the Viet Cong. America appeared to be the hero that
was helping, however their involvement was for selfish purposes. The US government s motive for
helping was to support anti communism due to the belief that capitalism was superior in every way.
Military involvements in Vietnam were one of America s many steps in showing other nations who
was superior. The US government also used their powerful military force in many other conflicts.

Existentialism In Hamlet
Hamlet is widely regarded as one of William Shakespeare s most famous and best written tragedies.
Its importance to history, due in part to the fact that the introspection of the main character upon his
dilemmas was rarely addressed in other popular plays, is felt to this day. Similar to the likes of Romeo
and Juliet, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Othello, King Lear, and other Shakespearean tragedies, it has been
the subject of much critical analysis and literary review from many approaches. In this essay, the
historic, existentialist, traditional revenge tragedy, psychoanalytic, and archetypal approaches will be
used to understand the tragedy of Hamlet. The time period in which the play was written is known as
either the English Renaissance or the Early Modern Era. The existence of both names seems to prove
that Hamlet was penned in a period of transition for England, and the characters within the tragedy all
but confirm this conjecture. Hamlet, the titular character, represents the modern half of the transition,
acquiring an education from a city where the transition was most prominent, while Claudius represents
the medieval half, claiming and subsequently abusing the traditional position of king through means of
betrayal and secrecy (Bernath 220). The time period also suggests that the introspection of the main
character upon his dilemma s in such a way as to question his own existence initially had an incredible
resonance with audiences, as such commentary on the human

The Application Of A Model, Paradigm And Needs Assessment...
The Application of A Model, Paradigm and Needs Assessment Results on Program Modifications In
an effort to ensure the program has a positive impact on the students mental health, the model,
paradigm and needs assessment results must drive any program modifications and services. According
to Erford (2014), a perception based needs assessment allows counselors to address the needs of
individuals in a community. A college community needs assessment, using secondary data sources, is
an example of how assessment results can assist with the initial design of the program, while also
serving as data indicators for program modification. For example, if the desired outcome is to increase
Black/African American student usage of health and wellness center services, the intake and sign in
sheets can serve as a secondary source of student usage. Another example is using a pre post wellness
inventory to assess if students have an increase in their knowledge and usage of demonstrated and
discussed wellness strategies. Also, retention rates and graduation rates can also serve as indicators of
program impact. Additionally, Tyler s psychosocial competence model and the Afrocentric paradigm
can also impact program modifications. The example of the wellness inventory that assesses wellness
strategy usage will indicate whether or not Tyler s psychosocial competence model is an acceptable
framework for the program. If so, then the model can impact how particular wellness strategies are

Anne Sullivan s The Miracle Worker
Beginning at birth, intelligence is being developed in the mind of a young one. Unlike normal infants,
Helen Keller began learning and understanding language at approximately six years old, thanks to
Anne Sullivan. The nonfiction drama dubbed The Miracle Worker by William Gibson depicts the
visually impaired Anne Sullivan teaching her blind and deaf pupil Helen Keller not only language, but
obedience. During this journey to teach a disabled six and a half year old, Sullivan faces adversity
from the Keller family, from rivalry based on the Civil War and opinions on how Helen should be
nurtured. Furthermore, Sullivan believes that obedience is the key to knowledge. Portrayed in all three
acts of The Miracle Worker, not only obedience, but intelligence is the key to grasping knowledge. ...

driven by rewards. Helen is intelligent enough to realize that Annie will reward her with a treat if she
makes the correct gestures of her hand for that particular treat. Furthermore, this reward system does
make Helen smarter (by learning the manual alphabet), which also accelerates the process of grasping
language. Based on the reward system, and Helen s desire to learn because of this, Helen s developing
intelligence is fundamental to understanding the English

Reflection On Clinical Surgery
On October 16th, 2017, I was able to observe a surgery during my clinical session. Surgery is defined
as the art and science of treating diseases, injuries and deformities by operation and instrumentation.
(Lewis, 2017) The reason for surgery can include: diagnosis, or determining the presence and extent
of a pathologic condition, cure, or eliminating and/or repairing of a pathologic condition, palliation, or
alleviation of symptoms that does not cure, prevention, or removing something from the body before it
becomes cancer, and exploration, surgical examination to determine the nature or extent of a disease.
(Lewis, 2017) My observation day started in the preoperative unit of the hospital where I met with the
pre op nurse. During this time I was able to introduce myself to the patient and had her consent to
allow me observe her surgery. My patient was a 39Y female who was to undergo a robotic assist
hysterectomy. Her past medical history includes constant, abnormal vaginal bleeding, polyps and
severe cramping. These are the factors that contributed to her having the hysterectomy. My patient
also noted that this is the last resort in her treatment for her symptoms. In this case, my patient was
undergoing palliative surgery, or having surgery to alleviate symptoms without curing a specific
disease. Her past medical history also includes gastroesophageal reflux disease, bilateral
chondromalacia patella joint pain, and depressive disorder. These factors

Unit 11 Assignment 2 Cardiovascular And Transport Systems
Unit 11 Assignment 2: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Systems M2. Explain the need for a transport
system in a multi cellular organism There are two types of cellular organisms: Unicellular organism
Multi cellular organism Unicellular Organism A unicellular organism is a single celled organism (one
cell), which is to rely on the process of diffusion, when moving different substances in and out of
other cells, due to its structure it has a larger surface area in comparison to its volume; this is because
each organism is built for a specific function. However, they transport materials such as oxygen and
urea in and out of bodies, through diffusion and osmosis. Multi cellular Organism A multi cellular is
consists of more than one cell, it has a small surface area, compared to its volume. This means that its
structure is specialised to do more than one function, especially exchanging surfaces, such as lungs,
and transporting systems. Its transportation system requires food and oxygen to be transported from
one place to another. Why do we need a transport system? The reason for having a transport system is
because the single celled organisms, also known as unicellular organism are small, meaning that they
have a large surface area, in comparison to their volume; a large surface area to volume ratio. As they
are known for having one cell, the substances diffuse through their relatively large plasma membrane.
This also means that they are able to diffuse

Group s Decision Making Process
Group Reflection Paper
Group projects challenge students to not only accomplish a more difficult task, but accomplish it
while working in groups. For this particular video project, I learned about my leadership style and the
importance of enthusiasm when working in groups. Later in this paper, I will reflect my group s
decision making process, dynamics, strengths, and flaws. The decision making process went hand and
hand with the dynamic of the group. Decisions were made by receiving input from others, which
sometimes worked better than others. I found myself seeking approval from my fellow group
members before moving forward. Since my group worked together harmoniously, this was never a
problem; however, I suspect some of the harmony came from people simply wanting to go along to
get along. If at any point we disagreed, usually the problem was we had too many good ideas to
choose from, not because someone chose to be stubborn. Even so, after discussing which idea worked
best for our project, we d go with the majority vote. Everyone remained civil, and expressed
appreciation toward all ideas shared. Collaboration worked in our favor when making decisions. I
acted like the spokesperson in my group. Typically, I would ask the group what our goals were for
meetings, when future meetings would be, and how to proceed after accomplishing small tasks. As I
mentioned earlier, we made decisions as a group, but I found I addressed the problems or conflicts to
the group. Keeping my

Freud is held most famous for introducing psychoanalysis as a method of mental health treatment. Psychoanalysis is a psychological theory that investigates the conscious and subconscious minds with the goal of treating mental disturbances. Psychoanalysis essentially retrieves a patient s repressed feelings and fears to the surface with techniques such as hypnosis, word association, dream interpretation, and hesitations and fumbles. Although Freud was not originally a fan of hypnosis, it was theorized to be an effective of way of channeling the subconscious mind. Word associations are the first things that come into mind. It goes straight through the id, so there is no time to channel the ego or superego. In other words, when someone says the first word that goes through their mind, it gives Freud a way to see into their subconscious mind and discover the trauma that the patient may have experienced. The patient does not have the opportunity to over think about what he is saying. Although this sort of power has been in play for generations it has allowed for woman to not always be able to express their opinions on a particular subject or be heard by the male population at all. In today s society we still see many examples of how men are still dominating culture and the language that surrounds it through the idea of muted group theory and the relationship it has between men and woman A prime example of how language affects culture and woman are how we still use certain words to describe objects or people in either a masculine or feminine sense. Words like Mr. and Mrs. show the title of a person but when it comes to woman it shows their marital status. Whereas with men it doesn t put emphasis on anything other than their gender. This example in today s society shows to a sense that woman is sometimes thought of as objects or a piece of property that can be owned rather than a human being with rights and opinions. Another example of language is when people refer to professional jobs in the work force or when referring to a group of people by using a masculine association with each term. • 22. Critical Analysis Of Requiem For A Dream Requiem for a Dream is a 2000 psychological drama directed by Darren Aronofsky. The story follows four characters as they struggle with, and eventually succumb to their different addictions. This leads to the characters imprisonment in a world of delusions and reckless desperation that is eventually overtaken by reality. The film makes effective use of imagery and sound to create the feeling of the film reeling towards the end at an impossible pace. By the end of the movie, the characters are completely changed: withered, broken, and alone. Requiem for a Dream was screened at the 2000 Cannes film festival, and was met with primarily positive reviews. Darren Aronofsky created the feeling of the film speeding up by shortening the length of the scenes as the film progresses. At the beginning of the movie scenes are 90 seconds to 2 minutes in length, and it s by shortening the length of scenes and frames that he created a sense of unease within the audience. It s also reflective of the emotional states of the characters. At the beginning of the film, the characters aren t necessarily too far gone to be saved. • 23. The Influence Of Social Media On The Fashion Industry Influence of Social Media on the Fashion Industry According to Katie Hope, from the BBC News, Burberry, a fashion retailer, has nearly 40 million followers across 20 different social media platforms and openly admits that it has become as much a media content producer as a design company. Burberry, as well as other name brand designers, has ditched the catwalk and other ancient fashion rituals for a more edgy approach towards promoting their identity. During the turn of the century, the creation of media outlets are used by both consumers and producers alike. The producers within the industry, use the top three social media platforms, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, to project upcoming sales, designer lines, and hire famous people from all different fields to advertise their brand, (Moving Faster). Although many in the fashion industry continue to utilize magazines and commercials to promote their brands, this practice has become less common due to the rapid development of various social media outlets. Fashion producers need to embrace social media as an increasingly important platform with which to promote their products because of its large fan base, relatively inexpensive means of spreading the word and its very wide adoption for millennials but increasingly more so for people of all generations. Due to the invention of social media, many producers have approached celebrities, many of whom have a large quantity of followers, to use their accounts in order to reach a ... • 26. Surrounded By Happiness Rhetorical Analysis Surrounded By Happiness My exhibit is called Surrounded by Happiness, to show how happiness can depend on our surroundings. Although happiness can come from a color, location, and doing the things we love; the one thing that makes happiness almost universal is being surrounded by people and things who can help bring out the happiness within us. When we are accompanied by someone who is cheerful and has positive energy, it rubs off and in turn, makes the people surrounding them happy too. It is simple to find happiness and sometimes the littlest things can bring happiness to us and often times it is taken for granted in our daily lives. The theme of this exhibit is to show how people can contribute to daily happiness even when it s just from their attitude, energy, and presence. Also, to show how it is important to know who and what we surround ourselves with and how they can affect us. When we are surrounded by people that are positive, cheerful, and fun; it affects everyone around us. In The Cordoba Fair, there are two women performing an act that is cheerful, full of energy, and are having fun doing what they love. This makes the audience filled with joy and everyone is seen with a smile on their face. The shades of blue and red on their clothing add to the cheerful mood of the painting. • 29. Art Nouveau Rhetorical Analysis The article that I chose to analyze was The Role of Women in the Iconography of Art Nouveau by Jan Thompson. The main argument in this essay is the depiction of women as objects in the Nouveau style and how they were highly idealized and depicted very differently than they appeared in real life. The intended audience for this essay is women. The author was able to successfully argue and prove their thesis through historical perspective, detailed analyses of the depiction of women as objects, and the use of relevant primary sources. Thompson gives a brief description of what was happening during the time of the Art Nouveau style and how it affected the depiction of women. During this time, suffrage was beginning to take hold in society and women were beginning to embrace their own individualism and began taking their lives into their own hands. The author argues that the depiction of women as highly idealized objects was a reaction to this movement and was an attempt by artists to resist the changes in society. The depiction of women as fragile, helpless objects was to reinforce the belief that women were inferior to men. • 30. Imperialism In Vietnam Essay The United States stands for liberty and Justice. Yet during the 20th century, this reputation was greatly damaged. The government began to focus on power and controlling other countries instead. The United States focus on imperialism is shown by its fight against communism, its use of propaganda to exaggerate its influence around the world, and its involvement in the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War was related to America s fear of communism and showed how far the United States would go to inflict its policy on other nations. During this time the U.S. government did not consider Vietnam s perspective on the war nor estimate the casualties. The citizens of Vietnam did not deserve to be plagued by death and destruction, and the U.S. should absolutely never have been involved. American imperialism ... The disagreement of communism led to many unjustifiable and unpeaceful acts by the U.S. Their involvement made an unnecessarily long and deadly war where the result was the deaths of thousands of Vietnamese citizens. Many of them suffered the horrible conditions brought by the battle. America aided South Vietnam against the communist North Vietnam and its allies known as the Viet Cong. • 31. Existentialism In Hamlet Hamlet is widely regarded as one of William Shakespeare s most famous and best written tragedies. Its importance to history, due in part to the fact that the introspection of the main character upon his dilemmas was rarely addressed in other popular plays, is felt to this day. Similar to the likes of Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Othello, King Lear, and other Shakespearean tragedies, it has been the subject of much critical analysis and literary review from many approaches. In this essay, the historic, existentialist, traditional revenge tragedy, psychoanalytic, and archetypal approaches will be used to understand the tragedy of Hamlet. The time period in which the play was written is known as either the English Renaissance or the Early Modern Era. The existence of both names seems to prove that Hamlet was penned in a period of transition for England, and the characters within the tragedy all but confirm this conjecture. Hamlet, the titular character, represents the modern half of the transition, acquiring an education from a city where the transition was most prominent, while Claudius represents the medieval half, claiming and subsequently abusing the traditional position of king through means of betrayal and secrecy (Bernath 220). The time period also suggests that the introspection of the main character upon his dilemma s in such a way as to question his own existence initially had an incredible resonance with audiences, as such commentary on the human ... The Application of A Model, Paradigm and Needs Assessment Results on Program Modifications In an effort to ensure the program has a positive impact on the students mental health, the model, paradigm and needs assessment results must drive any program modifications and services. According to Erford (2014), a perception based needs assessment allows counselors to address the needs of individuals in a community. A college community needs assessment, using secondary data sources, is an example of how assessment results can assist with the initial design of the program, while also serving as data indicators for program modification. For example, if the desired outcome is to increase Black/African American student usage of health and wellness center services, the intake and sign in sheets can serve as a secondary source of student usage. Another example is using a pre post wellness inventory to assess if students have an increase in their knowledge and usage of demonstrated and discussed wellness strategies. Also, retention rates and graduation rates can also serve as indicators of program impact. Additionally, Tyler s psychosocial competence model and the Afrocentric paradigm can also impact program modifications. The example of the wellness inventory that assesses wellness strategy usage will indicate whether or not Tyler s psychosocial competence model is an acceptable framework for the program. If so, then the model can impact how particular wellness strategies are being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Unit 11 Assignment 2 Cardiovascular And Transport Systems Unit 11 Assignment 2: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Systems M2. Explain the need for a transport system in a multi cellular organism There are two types of cellular organisms: Unicellular organism Multi cellular organism Unicellular Organism A unicellular organism is a single celled organism (one cell), which is to rely on the process of diffusion, when moving different substances in and out of other cells, due to its structure it has a larger surface area in comparison to its volume; this is because each organism is built for a specific function. However, they transport materials such as oxygen and urea in and out of bodies, through diffusion and osmosis. Multi cellular Organism A multi cellular is consists of more than one cell, it has a small surface area, compared to its volume. This means that its structure is specialised to do more than one function, especially exchanging surfaces, such as lungs, and transporting systems. Its transportation system requires food and oxygen to be transported from one place to another. Why do we need a transport system? The reason for having a transport system is because the single celled organisms, also known as unicellular organism are small, meaning that they have a large surface area, in comparison to their volume; a large surface area to volume ratio. As they are known for having one cell, the substances diffuse through their relatively large plasma membrane. This also means that they are able to diffuse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For this particular video project, I learned about my leadership style and the importance of enthusiasm when working in groups. Later in this paper, I will reflect my group s decision making process, dynamics, strengths, and flaws. The decision making process went hand and hand with the dynamic of the group. Decisions were made by receiving input from others, which sometimes worked better than others. I found myself seeking approval from my fellow group members before moving forward. Since my group worked together harmoniously, this was never a problem; however, I suspect some of the harmony came from people simply wanting to go along to get along. If at any point we disagreed, usually the problem was we had too many good ideas to choose from, not because someone chose to be stubborn. Even so, after discussing which idea worked best for our project, we d go with the majority vote. Everyone remained civil, and expressed appreciation toward all ideas shared. Collaboration worked in our favor when making decisions. I acted like the spokesperson in my group. Typically, I would ask the group what our goals were for meetings, when future meetings would be, and how to proceed after accomplishing small tasks. As I mentioned earlier, we made decisions as a group, but I found I addressed the problems or conflicts to the group. Keeping my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
