Noel Kempff Mercado National Park in Bolivia covers 750,000 hectares, much of which consists of the Serrania de Huanchaca. It is located in northeast Santa Cruz Department on the Brazilian Shield and bounded by the Rio de Itenez river along the eastern and northern borders separating it from Brazil. The park sits in a transition zone between Amazonian rainforests and the dry forests and savannas of Cerrado.
