Located in central Puerto Rico, Morovis has a population of over 32,000 people. Founded in 1818 when a church and public buildings were constructed, Morovis gained the nickname "the island except Morovis" because it was the only municipality that did not suffer from a cholera epidemic in 1853. Points of interest include the prehistoric paintings at Cabachuelas Cave, the German restaurant Casa Bavaria located high in the mountains, and the scenic viewpoint La Colina 360. Festivals in Morovis include a tribute in May, matron celebrations in July, a Cuatro festival also in July, and an event in December called "The Island Except Morovis".
