This document discusses a research project that aims to test different styles of audio description (AD) with visually impaired participants. It will compare the film experience of AD users to sighted viewers, and compare reception of different AD styles. Preliminary work focuses on defining film experience. A survey of sighted viewers was conducted to collect data on comprehension, emotion, and evaluation of a short film to serve as a reference point. Next steps include designing three versions of AD for the film and surveying visually impaired participants to compare their experience.
