the age of 3.
 This was used only in videos and retired
in 2009.

 Universal
 Suitable for all ages.
 Though the BBFC can not predict what
might upset a child, films under this
classification should be suitable for ages 3
and older.

5. PG
 Parental Guidance
 General viewing but some parts may be
unsuitable for children that are too young.
 Films under this classification must be
suitable for children ages 8 and older.
 Though PG means that it is up to the
parents are to decided whether the
content is unsuitable for their children.

6. 12A
 12 Accompanied
 These films are recommended for people
of the age 12 and over.
 Though it is required that they are
accompanied by an adult.

7. 12
 Recommended for people 12 and older.
 Though anyone under the age of 12 may
see it as long as their parent or guardian
says they can.
 No one under the age of 12 may buy or
rent a ‘12’ rated DVD.

8. 15
 Suitable for people of the age of 15 and
older.
 No one under the age of 15 may see the
film in the cinema, nor but or rent a ’15’
rated DVD.

9. 18
 Suitable for adults only.
 Nobody under the age of 18 may see in
the cinema, nor buy or rent a ‘18’ rated
DVD.
 These films often contain scene of
extreme gore/violence and or a sexually
explicit content.

10. R18
 Only to be shown or sold to adults over the
age of 18.
 To be shown in specially licensed cinema
or supplied to only licensed sex shop.
 These films contain sexually explicit or
pornographic content.

11. My Movie
 My movie would have to be rated 15 because it has a
high content of violence and gore but it is not too
graphic as to be labelled as a 18.
 The violence comes through is mutable fighting scene
where people get badly wounded or even die.
 The gore comes through in my character of Connor
because he goes through a area of the film where he
becomes bloodthirsty as a vampire.
