‘’How did you attract/address
your audience?’’
Realism
Firstly, we attracted our target audience (adults aged 16
– 34) by how realistic our settings and locations were.
To the human eye, when we can tell and notice if
something is real it compels us to be able to relate to
the scenario and make us believe it could become
reality so we used real locations i.e. we visited
Tamworth castle and didn’t just use a green screen and
apply a fake castle in the background so our opening
appeals the audience to watch our opening.
We also filmed at a real airport and in a real house for a
house party.
Female Protagonist
A theorist called ‘Laura Mulvey’ explores the social
group ‘gender’ within her theory called ‘Male Gaze’ .
The theory ‘Male Gaze’ is Laura believing that films are
made from a males point of view and woman are the
objects of desire.
The theory male gaze could be interpreted into our film
opening ‘Tres ante meridiem’ as our main character is
female who would be a focus for a male and who you
predominately see throughout the opening.
Additionally, we have used female characters in our film
over male characters.
Therefore, following the theory of Male Gaze, by having
our protagonist female, it attracts the male audience to
watch our opening as they are attracted to the female
character.
Effects
In our opening, we didn’t just upload our footage then
shorten clips and rearrange them and then leave it plain
as that. I took the responsibility of a large amount of
editing as I was comfortable with the editing software
and for one example, I added in a variety of transitions
and in the airport scene I used a ‘large room’ effect
which made the scene look as if it was set in the past
which was my goal as it was a past event in the opening.
This attracts the audience as it makes the opening more
fun and entertaining to watch as it isn’t plain and
boring. It also encourages the audience to watch our
opening as once they see one effect, they feel intrigued
to see if we have included any other and better effects
in our opening.
House party scene
The house party scene which Abhi holds attracts our
target audience of young adults (16-34) as they
stereotypically enjoy going out to parties and enjoy
having fun so by including one of their favourite things
to do, it allows them to relate too the feelings of the
characters.

Genre
The genre of our opening attracts our target audience.
Young adults enjoy being scared and thrilled just like
how they enjoy roller coasters and adventures so as our
genre is an action/horror opening, they know that there
will be surprises and events that aren’t normal which
excites them.

Audience

  • 1. ‘’How did you attract/address your audience?’’
  • 2. Realism Firstly, we attracted our target audience (adults aged 16 – 34) by how realistic our settings and locations were. To the human eye, when we can tell and notice if something is real it compels us to be able to relate to the scenario and make us believe it could become reality so we used real locations i.e. we visited Tamworth castle and didn’t just use a green screen and apply a fake castle in the background so our opening appeals the audience to watch our opening. We also filmed at a real airport and in a real house for a house party.
  • 3. Female Protagonist A theorist called ‘Laura Mulvey’ explores the social group ‘gender’ within her theory called ‘Male Gaze’ . The theory ‘Male Gaze’ is Laura believing that films are made from a males point of view and woman are the objects of desire. The theory male gaze could be interpreted into our film opening ‘Tres ante meridiem’ as our main character is female who would be a focus for a male and who you predominately see throughout the opening. Additionally, we have used female characters in our film over male characters. Therefore, following the theory of Male Gaze, by having our protagonist female, it attracts the male audience to watch our opening as they are attracted to the female character.
  • 4. Effects In our opening, we didn’t just upload our footage then shorten clips and rearrange them and then leave it plain as that. I took the responsibility of a large amount of editing as I was comfortable with the editing software and for one example, I added in a variety of transitions and in the airport scene I used a ‘large room’ effect which made the scene look as if it was set in the past which was my goal as it was a past event in the opening. This attracts the audience as it makes the opening more fun and entertaining to watch as it isn’t plain and boring. It also encourages the audience to watch our opening as once they see one effect, they feel intrigued to see if we have included any other and better effects in our opening.
  • 5. House party scene The house party scene which Abhi holds attracts our target audience of young adults (16-34) as they stereotypically enjoy going out to parties and enjoy having fun so by including one of their favourite things to do, it allows them to relate too the feelings of the characters. Genre The genre of our opening attracts our target audience. Young adults enjoy being scared and thrilled just like how they enjoy roller coasters and adventures so as our genre is an action/horror opening, they know that there will be surprises and events that aren’t normal which excites them.
