2. This ended up being one of the scenes we carried on to keep in our final
trailer as we thought it sent the most powerful message. However we
switched the first 10 shots around so that they ran smoothly and did not
last so long in the trailer. We therefore cut a lot of the shots down and
halved them so they only lasted roughly has a second. We thought it was
important to keep the typical stereotypes of a poor girl however though the
iconography of cigarettes and final warning bills to show connotations of a
stereotypical teenage girl.

3. These scenes we also kept the same however we moved them to
the beginning of the trailer. We wanted to clearly state to the
audience that the man was ‘bad’ and he was pressuring her into
doing something she did not want to, this goes on to put an image
in the audiences head of what certain characters will be like.

4. We continued to leave this scene in the same place as it
appears we are leaving her story on a cliff hanger. The
audience will want to know what happens next leaving a level
of suspense encouraging the audience to go on and watch the
soap.

5. Slide 10 as you can see follows on from the previous scenario. We decided to
cut this pregnancy part from the final trailer as we thought that it gave away
too much of the story. We thought by showing too many events happening in
her life would take away the mystery of the new soap.
Shot 11-16 is of a boy not being able to afford going to a dance school, it then
carries on to follow a ‘crew’ dancing with him in the street. After showing our
trailer to various people they said they weren’t keen on the various other
stories. We then went on to scrapping this scene from our final trailer as we
feel it did not fit in with what we were trying to portray. It also took up a large
amount of time with the trailer. We thought it would be more beneficial to
include snippets of stories that had more of an on going storyline where we
could leave a cliff-hanger which would build suspense.

6. This then follows on to the runaway scene. It initially included two
girls and a male character. In our mock run of the trailer we built a
whole scenario surrounding what happens to the girls and why they
are running away. We went on to not completely get rid of this scene
but we manipulated and cut the images so that it was much shorter in
length and left the audience wanting to watch more. We also felt that
all of the stories did not link within each other which we wanted to do
to ‘set the scene’ this then gives a more professional look as it has
shown we are making links between what could possibly be
happening within the same area. Too much differentiation between
stories may seem un real. As it is a soap opera we are creating we
wanted to stick to the ‘real life’ norms.

7. We mostly kept this scene as it fit well in with pace of the trailer. We left the girls
expression as the final scene. We thought this would be a good place to end the
trailer as it would make the audience go on to watch more. We also shortened it
so the audience would have no idea why the girl was running and why he was
after her, this way the audience would want to know more from the soap and why
she was running. At first glace she looks like a young, innocent teenager which
was the image we were trying to portray. This way a binary opposition has
occurred relating to bad vs evil as in the male is seen as ‘bad’ and the girl is seen
as ‘good’ this is the message we wanted to send out as the audience may think
they know what is happening when really they don’t.

8. This was a scene that we went on to scrap completely. We felt that the
storyline went on for a long time in the trailer and did not allure the same
suspense as the other scenes did. We thought that this scene would end up
confusing the audience as there would be a complete change in story. We
initially felt that a suicide scene would be good to include however we could
not portray this within the trailer without going into detail. We then therefore
completely got rid of this whole idea as it also wasn’t as strong an idea as the
others. It was also quite hard to present the build up to this scene in a
serious way. The fact we also got rid of diagetic sounds throughout the trailer
so the soundtrack could carry the story meant that we also would not be able
to use this scene as it involved a lot of speech for the story to be understood.
