Setting Line Spacing in Business Memos
At the top of a document after you open it move the cursor to the top left corner and open the Paragraph dialogue box to set the spacing info and tab setting as shown below before you move forward with any other part of the memo. Then, click on the “Set a Default” button. Sometimes it stays, other times it does not. If you find you need to readjust to the setting below, put the cursor anywhere in the document, highlight the whole document (I use Ctrl + A), right click on the highlighted area/document, and click on Paragraph. The box below will open up, and set info as shown below. Also works for specific document areas.
At the top of a memo, where you double space the Date, To, From, and Subject, hit the Enter key twice to achieve the double spacing. Applies to other places in the memo where you need to double space between sections.

You can use the mouse to select one of the other tabs, or use the keyboard: Borders (Alt + B); Page Borders (Alt + P), or Shading (Alt + S), which you will see below.
You have a selection of features: Style to select a line; Color to choose a color; Width to select how bold to make a line; and other features. Use these to enhance your tables.

Yes, that\'s a table. But if we had only text in the table, and took out the borders, we could use a
table to position our text on the page.
There are two huge advantages of arranging text in a table. The first is that it is really easy to
change the widths of the columns, which will determine how far left or right our text is
positioned on the page. The second is that text wraps within a cell of the table. You don\'t have to
work out how much text will fit on one line, and how much should go to the next. Word will do
that for you.
How to create a table to hold your text

Position the Insertion Point (or cursor) where you want the table. For our sample document, that
will be in the paragraph below the heading \"Information about this document\".
In recent versions of Word, from the main menu, choose Table > Insert > Table. In older
versions of Word, from the main menu, choose Table > Insert. You\'re now at the Insert Table
dialog (Figure 1).
You need two columns and three rows.
If you have a recent version of Word, make sure that you have selected Fixed Column Width,
and that it is set to Auto. This is because, for this purpose, we need to decide for ourselves how
wide the columns will be.

Layout and select “Behind Text.”
On a PC, the Text Box icon is under “Insert” in the Menu. A
box may or not be inserted outside the field of the image.
However, there should be a little icon to the right of the box
that allows you to choose behind text. If not, right-click the
image and choose one or both of the following commands.
Grow Font
: There should be a box at the top with a number in it. You can
use that to select any font size that you wish. If it is not there,
you can choose Format (Mac) or Home (PC) and change the font
there. You can also select the text and hit Control + Mouse
button (Mac) or right-click (PC) and change the font.
Change Font Color
: At the top of the screen, there should be an ”A” with a line of
some color underneath it. Clicking that will allow you to change
the color. You can also change the font as listed above.
