INTRODUCTION 
As we know geography is the study of man and his interaction with 
environment. The center theme of geographical study is a spatual 
approach or space relation of various process and phenomena. From the 
itself are can understand the values of geography. That’s why it is called 
the mother of all science. 
These days Geography is considered a part of the composite of 
Human society. Its purpose is to study the structure and behavior of 
human society. Therefore, it is one of the social science. Though all the 
social sciences have common purpose ie, the study of man. Yet each 
presents unique point of view and each has evolved its own technique of 
studying human affairs and solving social problems.
Values of Teaching Geography 
 Geography help to widen the mental horizon of pupil. 
 Accelerating intellectual activities 
 Develop the healthy patriotism 
 Help to develop broad mindedness 
 Help to understand interrelationship 
 Help to develop skill of map reading 
 Help to have proper concept of area differences. 
 Helps to understand to interpret the major problems of the world. 
 Help to develop personal qualities 
 Treating in solving conterverstal issues 
 Develop qualities like preservation, conservation of protection 
 Develop sympathy 
 It develops national and international values 
 It develop ashetic, political, technical, ethnical, historical and 
disciplinary sense. 
 Develop intellectual and whlitorial values 
 Helps in developing oceasi and values 
 Develop interest in travel, reading experiment etc.
Geography helps to realize the following values 
1. Intellectual value: - The great value of geography lies in that introduce 
us to new ways of thinking and reasoning. Geography offers 
opportunities and provides material for intelligent exercises. The 
knowledge of geography satisfies out intellectual curiosity. The 
knowledge of geography remind us of different parts of the globe and the 
material part of the universal we live in. It teaches to arrive at various 
conclusions without any emotional basis or prejudice. 
2. Utilization value: - We are living in an age of interdependence for our 
daily needs. 
3. Vocational value: - In the modern system of education, there is tendency 
to make education useful rather than ornamental. Education should 
prepare a child for a calling or profession so as to enable him to 
livelihood. Knowledge of geography forms the basis of so many studies 
which are purely vocational in nature. A student of geography can seek 
employment department of India at Poona, town and country planning. 
In the news paper’s office to draw map to show the location of important 
events and in teaching department. 
4. Cultural Value: - Geography has played an important role in determining 
the culture and civilization of a country from time to time. The teacher of
geography should take up certain concrete examples of life in the cold 
and hot deserts, in the temperate and tropical forest and on the grass-land, 
mountains, plains and coasts of the world. 
5. Aesthetic Value: - A geographer feeds an intrinsic charm in revealing the 
mystery and also the harmony of nature. Geography is an art and a 
geographer is an artist.

for various purposes. Thus we can say without proper knowledge of 
geography the word itself cannot be moved or developed. There is 
engineers, doctors, scientist, planers, Astronauts geologist etc. in a 
geographer. But still geography is only in an geography is only in a 
geographer. That’s what the real value of geography.
