2. BJ SMITH - REAL LIFE ISSUES
Real Life Issues uses a 4 panel style of DigiPak.
The DigiPak does a good job of promoting the artist,
due to it’s focus just on him. The use of gold as one
of the primary colours makes it seem more high
class than if he were to use, say, pink.
The use of black as the other main colour give the
cover a slightly old feel, because black is a timeless
colour, and maybe that portrays his actual album as
‘timeless’. This also relates to the genre he sings for.
Blues music has been around since the 19th
Century, and has never been out of fashion, instead,
it has always been a fairly niche genre.
The DigiPak uses graphics of a flashing light in the
top corners of two of the panels. This just adds to
the overall effect of the performance photos that are
on the cover. This makes him seem like more of a
spectacle.

3. GORILLAZ - DEMON DAYS
Demon Days uses a Maltese Cross
Digipak.
The art style is very abstract, which
encompasses the whole style of the
band, seeing as they are a virtual group.
However, it is also very simple, using a
plain white background keeps the
attention on the animations.
In regards to the actual animations
themselves, each character has been
over-exaggerated. For example, the
character on the right panel has the
length of his tongue exaggerated in the
picture. This amplification distances the
identity of the band, and keeps it a
mystery for fans.

4. Jay-Z & Linkin Park - Collision
Course Collision course uses a 6-
panel Digipak design, with
the disk on the right hand
side. This allows them to
include more art and effects
on the album, giving it more
of an identity.
The art work gives it a very
urban feel, using bold font
and graffiti-style album art to
promote a ‘street’ feel. The
art style is also very titular, as
the title is ‘Collision Course’
and the picture the album
paints is one of destruction,
hence conforming to the
name of the album.

5. EMINEM - CURTAIN CALL
It is a 4 panel Digipak with a slot pocket
for the information.
The art style is very titular, as it
represents the end of Eminem’s career.
The roses are typically an object that is
thrown onto the coffin at a funeral, or on
the stage when an act is over, which
accentuates what Eminem is trying to
get across.
The colour scheme is also very effective,
as it makes the album cover almost
seem mournful, almost as if it is
reflecting on something great. This,
combined with the shadows and lighting,
make it seem like he is a spectacle.

6. LINKIN PARK - MINUTES TO
MIDNIGHT
This Digipak is a 6 Panel Digipak, with
the CD placed on the centre panel.
The photography on the Digipak cover
promotes the band as almost icons. I say
this because the way they are black
silhouettes on the horizon shows that
they are looked up to. It could also say
that they are struggling for an identity, as
they are not fully revealing themselves.
The black and white effect makes the
Digipak seem timeless, which means it
doesn’t age as times move on. This
means the artwork and colour scheme
will never go out of trend.
