1. Target Audience
The video content
Teacher
Including an interview with the teacher is a way for the audience to get to know the subject teacher
as well as be able to recognise a familiar face when they attend college. It’s also a good way for the
student to get used to some of the things the teacher is expecting and be able to gauge what the
teacher is like.
Examples of Work and Student Interview
For the last section of the video we will include examples of other students work on display and an
interview with students. This way we can show the types of people who are also passionate about
photography which will act as a way for potential students to feel at ease with the subject.
Displaying the students work will also give a little insight into how varied and different people can
be, yet their work still relates.
Equipment and Facilities
During the video, showing off a large portion of what the course has at its disposal will be a way to
entices the students into college. For example a student might like the idea of shooting in a studio
environment, if we show off the Studio in college that might tip them over the edge and make a
decision to join our college.
Atmosphere of the College
Showing off some of the social places around the college and try and convey the generally calm
atmosphere of, both in and outside lessons, is always a good thing to do. If we are able to make
these potential students feel comfortable with the college environment, before they have even
come through the front door, it will be a perfect way for them to adjust from secondary school to
sixth form.
Things to Consider
Our Target audience is those who are just about to leave secondary school and those who are
thinking about continuing education, so we are advertising to 15-16 year olds.
Putting adverts in relevant places to appeal to 15+ is crucial. There would be no point advertising the
college on daytime TV when the majority of potential students will still be at secondary school.
With that in mind, a good place to advertise would be on Facebook.
Duration
With regards to the DVD, we need to keep things simple enough that our audience will not lose
interest. Having the advert run on for upwards of 5 minutes would run the risk of dis-interesting our
audience.
Design
The designs of the video (the beginning tittles and credits) should be similar to the 3 colours that the
2. college uses, green, navy blue and white. This way we can create some interesting graphics which
will hopefully captivate the audience and draw attention to what we have on the screen.
Information
Short sharp and to the point. The information we include and choose to show needs to be relevant
and not long winded and convoluted.
