Research Methodology
•  The 2018 Tuition Assistance State of the Industry survey, conducted Nov.
6-28, 2018 received answers from 598 participants in total. Individual charts
shown represent only the respondents that answered that question.
•  The survey was conducted by the research arm of Chief Learning Officer. All
questions were voluntary and survey respondents were not required to
answer every question.
•  For reporting purposes, small organizations are identified as those with less
than 500 employees. Midsize organizations have between 500 and 4,999
employees. Large organizations have more than 5,000 employees.

Follow their organization’s policy for requesting tuition assistance funds.
Enroll and complete their course(s).
Submit proof of successful course completion.
Receive their TA funds from the organization before the billing payment deadline.

Individual charts shown represent only the respondents that answered that question. •  The survey was conducted by the research arm of Chief Learning Officer. All questions were voluntary and survey respondents were not required to answer every question. •  For reporting purposes, small organizations are identified as those with less than 500 employees. Midsize organizations have between 500 and 4,999 employees. Large organizations have more than 5,000 employees.

An additional 9.88% plan to offer tuition assistance in the next few years. 52.11% More than half of respondents at small organizations with less than 500 employees offer tuition assistance. Among large organizations, with more than 5000 employees, 87.1% offer TA. 73% Nearly three quarters of respondents say their organization’s TA programs are either critical or important to their L&D and talent strategy.
