Asparagus Contract Farming was started
in 1984 at the first time.
In the beginning of this project, There
were only 15 grower groups, 580
asparagus growers, 271 acres of total
production area and one Japanese
Exporting Company involved this
activity.

Twenty year later, There are ten
exporting companies joined to the
Asparagus Contract Farming in
Thailand.
Sixty four grower groups, 3,665
asparagus growers and 3,120 acres of
production area are increased.
Sixty percent of total production area is
under contract farming system

Benefit of Asparagus Contract Farming :
1. Farmer can know the guaranteed price
before Decision making to grow the
crops
2. To ease in managing supply and
demand chain
3. More Bargaining power for the grower
Groups
4. Price of Agricultural Commodity is
more stable.
5. Transferring Technology, Quality
Control and Traceability can done
more effective through the grower
groups.
6. The articles of contract can protect
both of two parties between grower
groups and private sector who joined
in the contract.

Nowadays there are 19 agricultural
commodities crops engaged in the
contract farming
Conducted by 51 private contract
companies

: MANGOSTEEN, MARIGOLD & HERBS
