3. Deerfield Academy - Deerfield, MA
Modern Signage for LEED®
Gold
Science Center
Deerfield Academy wanted a unique, modern signage
solution for the new David H. Koch Center for Science,
Math & Technology that would complement the state-of-
the-art facility. Because it was seeking LEED®
certification,
the center wanted to work with a company that shared its
green ideals.
ASI provided an aluminum and steel-based signage
solution because of the durability of the product – a key
sustainable element of signage. The longer the product
can remain in the facility, the less time it spends in the
waste cycle.
The room IDs are curved-face aluminum with black
photopolymer overlay to meet ADA requirements. The
raised, tactile lettering is painted white to contrast against
the black background of the signs, making them stylish
and easy to read. Additionally, because the coloring is
opposite the color scheme of the other signage, the room
IDs are easily recognized even by new visitors to the
facility.

4. Methodist Women’s Hospital & Medical Office Building – Omaha, NE
Design-Build Interior and Exterior Signage
Solution for Women’s Hospital and Medical Office
ASI designed a complete custom signage solution that complements the interior
design, color scheme and materials used inside the building. After completing
a site survey, ASI consulted with the Methodist staff to identify the functionality
and performance needed for the new signage program. The combination of the
wayfinding plan and sign placement at key decision points helps guide patients
to where they need to go while helping to keep patients and visitors out of
restricted or private areas.
ASI also provided a digital signage solution, which was carried over from
the main Methodist campus. Digital displays were also incorporated into the
architectural environment on each floor to communicate important rules and
regulations for patients, visitors and staff. This clean, simple display solution
allows for easy updates and will save hospital thousands of dollars over time.
An interactive digital display is incorporated into the custom designed donor
recognition wall in the lobby area. The “weave pattern” design of the donor
wall is intended to mimic a basket or a woven rug. A horizontal rail system
holds custom curved recognition panels in place, which helps create the illusion
of a weave pattern. The complete display creates an interesting visual display
that enhances the lobby area and draws visitors in for a closer look to recognize
these important contributors.

5. Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber - Cincinnati, OH
Custom Solutions for
Regional Chamber of Commerce
ASI was chosen by designers at Landor Associates to produce the
signs for the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. The grand entrance
as well as the main lobby and waiting area have large-format
digitally printed displays created from acrylic, Komatex®
, and
aluminum that allow for easy updating of the images. ASI also
provided the Pacific Interior signage system and dimensional letters
to identify specific rooms and areas in the chamber’s space.
The interior signage included a lenticular display that represents the
Great Living Cincinnatians. Each lenticular includes two images that
change depending on the angle from which they are viewed. The
images are mounted to Infinity graphic panels and can be easily
changed enabling the chamber to update the display annually. ASI
also applied intricate vinyl lettering to Infinity graphic panels to list
the names of every honoree since the chamber began recognizing
Great Living Cincinnatians.

6. University of Iowa: Boathouse – Iowa City, Iowa
Signage Solution for LEED®
Certified University Facility
The P. Sue Beckwith, M.D., Boathouse, which is named in honor of
Dr. Beckwith, a former UI student-athlete and noted Des Moines
surgeon, is the University of Iowa’s first LEED®
certified campus
facility. The boathouse is designed to function next to a river and
utilize the natural power of the sun and the wind to create an
energy efficient facility.
To complete the construction of the boathouse, a complete interior,
exterior and donor recognition signage solution needed to be
created and installed before the opening of the facility. Because
of the complexity of creating and delivering the solutions called
for by the architect, the designer and general contractor, ASI was
awarded the entire project. ASI, in partnership with Dan Van
Woert, environmental graphic designer, created a complete interior
signage and donor recognition solution for the boathouse. The
inspiration for the signage design came from both the architectural
features of the boathouse and the details of a rowing oar.

7. Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus – Buffalo, NY
Ongoing Signage Services for
Evolving Healthcare Facility
St. Joseph Hospital has been a client of ASI since the early
1990’s. When the new emergency department was built,
ASI was contacted by St. Joseph Hospital based on the
positive results of their prior experiences.
ASI presented a design packet for the interior and exterior
wayfinding signage that offered low to high options from
which the client could select. Each option incorporated the
architectural elements and colors of the new facility while
maintaining Catholic Health System’s brand standards.
The facility also required a donor signage program
that created a lasting first impression for visitors and
stayed within budget. ASI designed a custom solution
that included an accent wall that transformed a great
donor recognition signage system into something truly
memorable.
