WAYFINDING SIGNS
Dennisport Design Charrette plants a seed Create a single definitive logo which identifies the village and can be used to tie the village together Create a uniform signage plan around that logo directing visitors to local destinations
The Proposal Allow each Dennis Village, if they so choose, to create a unique village Wayfinding Signage Program. Place the Wayfinding Signage Program under the control of the Board of Selectmen for approval of village plans. Provide the Building Commissioner permit control over Wayfinding Signs
Standards VILLAGE WAYFINDING SIGNS - Signs located within a particular village designed to direct travelers to particular recreational or commercial destinations within that village.
Standards Village Wayfinding Signs shall consist of signs that are a part of a town or village sponsored and coordinated program for the purpose of facilitating tourist travel, guiding them to specific paths or to local destinations as designated and recognized by the particular village's wayfinding sign program
Standards Individual wayfinding sign slats shall be 8 inches tall and 18 inches wide
Standards The common village identifier portion of a wayfinding sign shall be 12” tall and 24” wide.
Standards Maximum height 20 feet with a clearance to ground of 10 feet
Standards Must contain the village theme approved by the Dennis Board of Selectmen. No more than three slats/panels per Wayfinding sign.
Standards Lettering no larger than 4 inches in height. No business logos, commercial graphics, or other forms of advertising shall be on wayfinding  signs.
Standards The standards set in the MUTCD Section 2D.50 Community Wayfinding Signs shall be followed, except as specifically restricted in this proposal.
Standards A single slat/panel within any group of three slats/panels may contain accessory information, such as “Open Today” “Music Tonight” etc, however destinations shall take priority over such accessory signs.
Standards A business or destination must be located within 500 feet of a wayfinding sign. The appropriate Village Committee shall determine the placement of business names on wayfinding signs based upon a first come first served basis. In the event two requests are received at the same time priority shall be given to the nearest business.
Standards One signpost containing one set of wayfinding signs per leg of the intersection. No business may appear on more than two wayfinding signs.
