AS / LIKE
AS As = since/because (causal).  e.g.  as  he was tired, he went to bed As = while (time)  e.g.  as  he shaved, he thought about the coming interview As = when (time) e.g.  as  a student, he had known great poverty =  when he was a student.
As = though / although (concessive use) Adj. + AS + Subject + Verb (to be/seem/appear…) e.g.  Tired  as  he was, he offered to help me. = tired though he was, he offered to help me  although / though he was tired, he offered to help me As if = as though + Sentence with verbs : look, sound, smell, feel, etc. e.g.  Tom sounded  as if  /  as though  he was worried = He sounded worried AS
As + Subject + Verb e.g.  They left everything  as  they found it =  The same way they found it. e.g.  Do it  as  I show you =  The way I show you. e.g.  As  you know, … As + job = in the position of  e.g.  She works  as  a doctor   AS

Like = used for comparison (it’s a preposition) like = similar to / the same as e.g.  She ran  like  the wind. It sounds  like  a baby crying. Like = for example = such as   After verbs : be, look, seem, feel, sound, smell, taste e.g.  He sounds  like  he was speaking to a group of 5 year olds   It smells  like  gas  In idioms :  e.g.  I was so tired that I slept  like  a log As a conjunction :  Like  can be used instead of  as  meaning : ‘in the same way as’ e.g.  She cooks exotic dishes just  like  /  as  you do.
