This document provides an overview of artificial intelligence. It defines AI as "making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs" by studying human intelligence. The goals of AI are to create expert systems that exhibit intelligent behavior and implement human intelligence in machines. Intelligence is composed of reasoning, learning, problem solving, and perception. AI tasks are classified as formal, mundane, or expert. Intelligent agents have an architecture and program, and can be simple reflex agents, model-based reflex agents, goal-based agents, or utility-based agents. Expert systems have components and artificial neural networks imitate the human brain through connections.
