John McCarthy is one of the
"founding fathers" of artificial
intelligence, together with Marvin
Minsky, Allen Newell and Herbert A.
Simon. McCarthy coined the term
"artificial intelligence" in 1955, and
organized the famous Dartmouth
Conference in Summer 1956. This

Robots are the artificial agents acting in real world environment.
Objective
Robots are aimed at manipulating the objects by perceiving, picking, moving,
modifying the physical properties of object, destroying it, or to have an effect thereby
freeing manpower from doing repetitive functions without getting bored, distracted,
or exhausted.
What is Robotics?
Robotics is a branch of AI, which is composed of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, and Computer Science for designing, construction, and application of
robots.

 Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed
by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics.
Sophia was activated on April 19, 2015 and made
first public appearance at South by Southwest
Festival (SXSW) in mid-March 2016 in Austin, Texas,
United States. She is able to display more than 62
facial expressions.
 In October 2017, the robot became a Saudi
Arabian citizen, the first robot to receive citizenship
of any country. In November 2017, Sophia was
named the United Nations Development
Programme's first ever Innovation Champion, and
first non-human to be given any United Nations
