very young children.
Artists often express themselves more easily and truthfully
in their artwork than in their daily lives or conversations
with others. This fact applies to more than artists, however.
Young children, especially those who cannot communicate
verbally at a high level, will often do so through their
drawings.

children to develop their ability to problem-solve and
explore and understand their emotions. Art therapists
work with children who have suffered severe trauma,
such as abuse or the death of a close family member.
They also help children to cope with life-threatening
diseases, phobias, and even learning disabilities.
