Why Women hesitate to start their own business?
Introduction:
In 1995 first study on women corporate boards was conducted then there was a research on
presence of women on corporate boards and then at that time few firms included women on
boards. At that time the firms were selecting the board members they were actively trying to
increase the representation of women on boards. The basic purpose of this article is that has
the number of women in boards was increased? Diversity In gender can offer firms a lots of
benefits like knowledge and fresh ideas. For women board membership provide an opportunity
to test the ideas and to support corporation public policy. (Arfken et al. 2004)
Now a days women are seeking more self-determination through enterprise creation. In many
African countries women have fewer inheritance right by law preventing women from realizing
their economic potentials. The traditional society did not make women’s rights a high priority.
Then after civilian war women were preferred they proved that they can work in every field.
They seek social and economic independence. SO they can start now their own business. Across
Somalia Women now run 80% of petty trade and small business as well as their own
households. (Ali.2012)
Some cultures women are restricted to start or conduct their business independently or without
the permission of their husbands. Besides culture women are no permitted to start their
business in developing countries. They think that women’s purpose is just to fulfil domestic
work. So these were the traditional concepts that’s why women hesitate to start their own
business. Women from rural areas are involved in agricultural enterprises. The study basically
examined the level of participation of women in corporative organizations. Major problem of
women for not participating in corporative organizations is that their traditions their culture
and household problems. If the education of women would increase then their participation in
corporative organizations would also increase. (Olawale.2012)
Entrepreneurship is usually part of the informal sector in both developed and developing
countries. The rate of success of gender in business depends on variety of factors. And the
factors were that the difference of economic and socio culture. The majority of informal
economy workers are women thus developments affecting the informal economy have gendered
effect. Poverty traps women in multiple discrimination and hinders their ability to claim their
rights. Due to poverty women losing their share of jobs, benefits and labour rights. Gender
equality and women empowerment in society is essential in addressing environmental,
economic and social problems. (Ibeh.2009)
Women who by compulsions of circumstances took up income generating activities to sustain
themselves and their families. The men of these women would not or could not take the
responsibilities of sustaining their family. The reality of women entrepreneur and passing the
enterprise to a daughter will be the new reality. Women struggle to find freedom and space to
define their roles in a new context with new occupation. Indian women have their new identity
they are introducing new ways and new paths in entrepreneur and they are introducing their
new business. They are now transferring their business to their daughters. Women have become
aware of their rights and existing and their work situation. (Kollan & Parikh2005)
In our culture women’s are 80% concerned with agriculture. It is due to lack of knowledge
because in our country 60% girls are not allowed to get education that’s why they can’t start
the business. If some women’s are want to starts our own business they can’t starts due to
restricted from her husband. And those who start’s her own business it is possible due to her
husband support. In 1993 the law of Indian act Ashanti (1993) he says that: “women doesn’t
start her own business due to lack of education”
Someone says that women only responsibilities to do household work and doing help with
husband. In foreign countries women’s starts her own business without hesitation and they
have not required any confirmation from husband. In our country finance is the most important
issue because upto60% peoples living below the 0% level of living that’s why they can’t get
education. (Kotler.2001)
According to euro barometer:
“47% people supported to women to her own business 19%
people supported self-employment according to European commission 2007 only 20% people
against to women’s to open her own business.”
In America women’s suffer from low expansion rates to start’s her own business because
55% people are against to women’s are opened her own business.
The fact that strategic positioning is much more present in life than it can be seen by mere
observation is a reality. This is due to the fact that strategic positioning is not only important
but crucial for success in the present-day context, not only for the success of a product,
company, magazine, individual, but of a region and country as well. When I say success, I think
of a long-term, stable success, the one which is secured, always growing and expanding,
regularly supervised and controlled, success filled with imagination and work. Success for the
future. (Morcom 2004)
Women take part in Business and equally treated now a days but in Past Women not work with
men they are treated as on second preference or not on equality. Always men took preference
so many people conduct research on it and they will make some results. Our research purpose
also that “Why women hesitate to start their own business” some results found that women
have lesser knowledge as compared to men or women have given much time to their family or
their kids, they manage their household matters with business so it would be difficult for
women. In our society women treated on inequality basis. They do not have any kind of power.
One reason is that Communication power of women as compared to men is not good according
to “Babcock” and if women and men have same education level but when they find job men
always have more salary then women it is our societal mistake. (Babcock ET all 2003)
One more reason behind the hesitation of women entrepreneurship is that in this society gender
difference count morely that is not good gender – biased supporting a hierarchical valuation
in it men always get priority on females. There is a scarcity in females therefore men do not
give any business work easily because women are too much emotional and in business emotions
always give a huge loss. Business always make to earn profit. But every women are not same
some women have a vast knowledge about business and they have interest in business but
because of men power many women do not complete their ambitions so gender difference
making a bad effect on society. (Garcia, Cristina 2011)
The one of the major reason behind women hesitation to start their own business is
microfinance and unemployment rate in any country. Poverty also one of the major reason
against women business because women if in a country which poverty rate is high then they do
not get education and when these kind of women do not have any education or experience then
they have no command on business and not start any business this is also a reason behind
women hesitation. Women mostly have no finance and no experience these kind of reasons
make difficult for females to get job or in business field experience. (Barana 2010)

(Ali.2012) Some cultures women are restricted to start or conduct their business independently or without the permission of their husbands. Besides culture women are no permitted to start their business in developing countries. They think that women’s purpose is just to fulfil domestic work. So these were the traditional concepts that’s why women hesitate to start their own business. Women from rural areas are involved in agricultural enterprises. The study basically examined the level of participation of women in corporative organizations. Major problem of women for not participating in corporative organizations is that their traditions their culture and household problems. If the education of women would increase then their participation in corporative organizations would also increase. (Olawale.2012) Entrepreneurship is usually part of the informal sector in both developed and developing countries. The rate of success of gender in business depends on variety of factors. And the factors were that the difference of economic and socio culture. The majority of informal economy workers are women thus developments affecting the informal economy have gendered effect. Poverty traps women in multiple discrimination and hinders their ability to claim their rights. Due to poverty women losing their share of jobs, benefits and labour rights. Gender equality and women empowerment in society is essential in addressing environmental, economic and social problems. (Ibeh.2009) Women who by compulsions of circumstances took up income generating activities to sustain themselves and their families. The men of these women would not or could not take the responsibilities of sustaining their family. The reality of women entrepreneur and passing the enterprise to a daughter will be the new reality. Women struggle to find freedom and space to define their roles in a new context with new occupation. Indian women have their new identity they are introducing new ways and new paths in entrepreneur and they are introducing their new business. They are now transferring their business to their daughters. Women have become aware of their rights and existing and their work situation. (Kollan & Parikh2005)
  • 3. In our culture women’s are 80% concerned with agriculture. It is due to lack of knowledge because in our country 60% girls are not allowed to get education that’s why they can’t start the business. If some women’s are want to starts our own business they can’t starts due to restricted from her husband. And those who start’s her own business it is possible due to her husband support. In 1993 the law of Indian act Ashanti (1993) he says that: “women doesn’t start her own business due to lack of education” Someone says that women only responsibilities to do household work and doing help with husband. In foreign countries women’s starts her own business without hesitation and they have not required any confirmation from husband. In our country finance is the most important issue because upto60% peoples living below the 0% level of living that’s why they can’t get education. (Kotler.2001) According to euro barometer: “47% people supported to women to her own business 19% people supported self-employment according to European commission 2007 only 20% people against to women’s to open her own business.” In America women’s suffer from low expansion rates to start’s her own business because 55% people are against to women’s are opened her own business. The fact that strategic positioning is much more present in life than it can be seen by mere observation is a reality. This is due to the fact that strategic positioning is not only important but crucial for success in the present-day context, not only for the success of a product, company, magazine, individual, but of a region and country as well. When I say success, I think of a long-term, stable success, the one which is secured, always growing and expanding, regularly supervised and controlled, success filled with imagination and work. Success for the future. (Morcom 2004) Women take part in Business and equally treated now a days but in Past Women not work with men they are treated as on second preference or not on equality. Always men took preference so many people conduct research on it and they will make some results. Our research purpose also that “Why women hesitate to start their own business” some results found that women have lesser knowledge as compared to men or women have given much time to their family or their kids, they manage their household matters with business so it would be difficult for women. In our society women treated on inequality basis. They do not have any kind of power. One reason is that Communication power of women as compared to men is not good according to “Babcock” and if women and men have same education level but when they find job men always have more salary then women it is our societal mistake. (Babcock ET all 2003) One more reason behind the hesitation of women entrepreneurship is that in this society gender difference count morely that is not good gender – biased supporting a hierarchical valuation in it men always get priority on females. There is a scarcity in females therefore men do not give any business work easily because women are too much emotional and in business emotions always give a huge loss. Business always make to earn profit. But every women are not same some women have a vast knowledge about business and they have interest in business but because of men power many women do not complete their ambitions so gender difference making a bad effect on society. (Garcia, Cristina 2011) The one of the major reason behind women hesitation to start their own business is microfinance and unemployment rate in any country. Poverty also one of the major reason against women business because women if in a country which poverty rate is high then they do not get education and when these kind of women do not have any education or experience then they have no command on business and not start any business this is also a reason behind women hesitation. Women mostly have no finance and no experience these kind of reasons make difficult for females to get job or in business field experience. (Barana 2010)
