Art Critique Example Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Art Critique" presents a unique set of challenges, demanding
a delicate balance between subjective interpretation and objective analysis. To begin with, the
inherent subjectivity of art necessitates a nuanced approach. The writer must navigate through
the diverse perceptions and opinions surrounding the artwork, acknowledging that what might
resonate with one observer might not have the same impact on another.
Moreover, articulating one's thoughts in a coherent and engaging manner becomes crucial when
delving into the intricacies of art critique. The writer needs to possess not only a deep
understanding of artistic principles but also the ability to communicate these insights effectively.
Balancing the technical aspects of the artwork with the emotional and conceptual dimensions
requires a careful and thoughtful exploration of the piece.
The research involved in preparing such an essay is another aspect that adds to the complexity.
Beyond just describing the artwork, the writer must delve into the artist's background, historical
context, and art movements to provide a comprehensive analysis. This demands extensive
reading and an in-depth investigation to offer a well-rounded perspective.
Furthermore, addressing the subjective nature of art critique introduces an element of
vulnerability. Expressing one's personal opinions while maintaining a respectful tone is
challenging, as the writer must navigate the fine line between critique and criticism. This calls for
a heightened sense of tact and diplomacy, ensuring that the essay fosters intellectual discussion
rather than provoking unwarranted discord.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on art critique is a challenging task that demands a delicate blend
of subjectivity, objectivity, and effective communication. It requires a deep understanding of
artistic principles, extensive research, and the ability to express one's thoughts with clarity and
diplomacy. Despite the challenges, the process can be immensely rewarding, providing a
platform for meaningful exploration and dialogue surrounding the world of art.

Actual Cash Value Of A Homeowner s Insurance
Homeowner s insurance at times can seem really complicated. It can be easy to just
assume that the homeowner s package that your insurance agent put together
provides you with the most value and the most protection in the event of a loss.
However, that is not always the case, which is why it is important for you to
understand the implications of every aspect of your homeowner s insurancepolicy.
Here is a quick breakdown of the difference between having your home and
belongings insured for the replacement cost verses the actual cash value.
Actual Cash Value
When many people here the term actual cash value, they assume that means that they
are going to get exactly what they think their home is worth should anything happen
to it. However, the reality is a little different. ... Show more content on

They will only have to pay you for the value of that part of your home minus standard
depreciation rates.
For example, if your roof was installed ten years ago and at that time was worth
$10,000 but has depreciated $5,000 over the last ten years, your insurance company
only has to provide you with $5,000 to replace your roof.
Not only will you have to pay your deductible in full before your insurance company
provides you with this money, you will also be responsible for paying the reminder
of the repair costs on your own and there is a really good chance that it will cost you
more to replace your roof today than it did ten years ago.
When your homeowner s insurance policy covers the actual cash value of your
home and your belongings, you are going to have to pay out your deductible as well
as the extra money necessary to fix your home or replace your belongings. Although
actual cash value policies tend to cost less in the short term, you tend to have to pay
more in the long term if something actually happens to your home.

The Impact of Digital Technology on Graphic Design
In a continuously evolving world, digital technology has come to rise and this has
brought on significant changes in the way the industry of graphic design functions.
With the emergence of digital developments, it has allowed designers to create and
engage in a new realm of digital media. This has brought on shifts in the way
designers create and with the addition of a range of digital software and tools for
exploring and realizing ideas in a more efficient manner, design is no longer limited
to physical forms. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before digital technology was available in graphic design, conceptual and
production methods were simply through training hand letter type, thumbnails and
sketches . As design methods evolved accordingly, marks of individualism at the
drawing board vanished and are now replaced with the capacity to command
technological means of production . Digital softwares can be fully utilized to help
create and finish all aspects of a project to a high professional manner and at the
same time, ease the process of origination. Not only has it changed the way a design
is created from scratch, it has also transformed the way designers and clients
collaborate and interact with each other on professional level . With so much
convenience and accessibility, there is no doubt why digital technology is able to
make a significant impact on graphic design.
Ironically, convenience creates reliance and hence, it is also important to consider
the less positive impacts of technology. When digital softwares become a dominant
aspect in the creation of designs, it is easy for a designer to let the computer produce
more of the work and this significantly lessens creativity. As the nature of design
requires the designer to think and act on his or her thoughts, the presence of
convenient digital functions makes the process of creation gradually systematic and
boring
The Endocrine System
Starting in the head and neck area one will find the hypothalamus, pineal gland,
parathyroid glands, pituitary gland, and thyroid gland. Some of the functions of the
hypothalamus, which is part of the brain, are to regulate body temperature, thirst,
sleep, mood, hunger, and the release of other hormones in the body. The function
pineal gland is to control circadian and circannual rhythms, and the release of
melatonin. The function of the parathyroid glands is to mainly to control calcium
levels in the body. The functions of the pituitary gland secrete various hormones for
various functions. The function of the thyroid gland is to increase the metabolic rate
to speed digestion. Now that the endocrine glands of the head and neck area have
been introduced, now the glands of the upper and lower torso will be introduced and
overviewed. The endocrine gland located in the upper torso is the thymus gland, in
the lower torso the adrenal glands, pancreas, and testis/ovaries can be found. The
function of the thymus gland is to stimulate the production and maturation of T
Lymphocytes. The functions of the adrenal glands are the raising of glucose levels,
the reabsorption of sodium and the excretion of potassium, and the stimulating of
reproductive organs that bring about sex characteristics. The function of pancreas is
to regulate blood glucose levels. And finally the function of the testis/ovaries is to
stimulate sex characteristics. All of these glands make up the Endocrine System.
Literary Reflection
Intent and purpose of this class
The intent of this class is to give the student a well rounded overview of the basic
parts of a short story or novel. These include plot, character, point of view, strong
openings to a story, dialogue and writing enhancement. It is intended to help writers.
It is not intended to be a literary criticism class.
I will also provide a brief overview of genre, marketability and marketing promotion.
I will review work for content and structure. I will not copyedit the student s work.
My focus will not be on grammar or sentence structure.
I will give homework assignments and it is helpful to finish the assignments. But we
may move onto the next assignment if you haven t completed in the assignment
within a few days.
Lesson one: The Plot in the Story
Introduction
Good stories have a beginning, middle and end. But editors look for the plot arc, or
some variation of it. If you are an established, well recognized author you might
tweak The arc model, but the rest of us must slug through it. And for good reason.
The arc will pull your reader through the story. It is the reason why your reader will
turn the pages until the very end. It also helps the writer focus their story line, cut out
the parts that are slowing it down, and highlight the parts that help move the story.
Trust me, in the end The arc will be your friend.
If all of this comes as a surprise to you then you have been reading wonderful books
or watching wonderful movies/TV shows
Compare And Contrast Phoenix And Ellensburg
Phoenix, Arizona and Ellensburg, Washington are cities which are more than 1,300
miles from one another. In the United States, distance between a pair of towns does
not automatically mean that drastic differences will exist, but the disparities in this
instance are numerous. The following discussion details critical distinctions amongst
the two. Stereotypical wisecracks of larger metropolitan areas include bumper to
bumper traffic and complications associated with overcrowding. Customarily
following these remarks are threats to head for somewhere quieter and less stressful.
When Phoenixand Ellensburg are contrasted, the latter has decidedly less to offer
those considering leaving the city; small town living only appears tempting in movies

Ellensburg is woefully limited as far as dining and entertainment are concerned. Pub
crawls embark partygoers on a brief journey through roughly eight square blocks of
its pint sized downtown district. Disappointingly, intimate dinners spotlighting
phenomenal dishes scarcely coincide with the good company and engaging
conversation had by playful couples. Although historic local museums and galleries
display fascinating accounts of the past and compelling artistry, families rarely
express enthusiasm for sophisticated recreation. Conversely, Phoenix knows no
bounds in the restaurant and leisure departments. For example, adventurous bar
hoppers drift from upscale speakeasies serving throwback cocktails in a dimly lit
lounge to hipster brewpubs whose menus list craft beer flights from around the
world. Also, Romantic date nights unassumingly commence over cuisine prepared
by world renowned chefs at Zagat rated sushi bistros and James Beard Award
winning pizzerias. Moms and dads devote quality time to the kids at indoor
trampoline arenas for a healthy way to let off some steam; or, celebrate birthdays at
amusement parks with festivities spanning from miniature golf to roller coasters and
arcades. The monotony typically experienced in little towns seldom creates
sentimental recollections worthy of

developed to optimize water use for agriculture crops. The system has a distributed
wireless sensor node network of soil moisture, temperature sensors and humidity
sensor placed in the soil. Energy conservation is a very critical issue in wireless
sensor networks. In this paper a TDMA based MAC protocols are used to conserve
the energy in wireless sensor networks which is used in an irrigation system. An
algorithm is developed with threshold values of moisture level, temperature of the
soil and humidity sensor that are programmed into microcontroller based gateway to
control irrigation in a field. Also two methods based on TDMA scheduling are used.
The first one is direct communication method, in which each node transmitted the
data directly to the sink node and other one is data aggregation method in which
nodes are grouped into clusters to save energy.

1.3 scope
This report solely deals with the health related information of Bangladesh. Here we
try to accumulate information from various topics that have role with the health
system of a country. The project is based on both primary and secondary
information. Health system is a very vast area to work; thousands of issues are
related here. Here we make some major segment to discuss like national health status,
health care delivery system, facility based health service, leading public health
problems and health education.
1.4 limitations
1. The major limitation faced in preparing this report is the enormous number of
parameters that have relationship to the health care system of a country.
2. Less availability of data at all tiers of service providing especially in the private
sector.
3. Less accessibility to data due to shortage of time and proper arrangement and at the
same time the authenticity of data not beyond questions.
4. Health sector requires few specified technical knowhow for better understanding.

Effective Communication
Pamela Clark
CJS 304

Dr. Stephen A. Morreale
Communication is a two way process that takes practice and time to be fully
effective and is very important in every aspect our personal and professional lives.
We communicate every day of our lives both verbally or nonverbally. The process of
verbal communication is the exchanging information by transmitting an idea, send
that idea, receive feedback, understand the idea and the feedback and provide
feedback to the person who sent the message. The main components of
communication are context, encoder, message, medium, decoder, and feedback. The
context could be social, chronological, cultural, or physical. The individual sending
the message will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The four types of barriers to effective communication are emotional barriers,
physical barriers, semantic barriers, and ineffective listening (Wallace amp;
Roberson, 2009). Emotional barriers can be present in either the sender or the
receiver and may be based on personal experiences or expectations. Physical barriers
are considered to be an obstruction in which it makes it difficult to allow free flow of
information. For example, a physical barrier can be an officer reporting information
regarding a crime or equipment malfunctions to a supervisor. A semantic barrier is the
study of the development and meaning of words. In the Criminal Justice system
officers can interpret a term, such as juvenile delinquent in different ways. This can
mean that the juvenile is hard core and under age youth or a youth acting out. Having
the ability to understand the meaning of these terms can result in bad communication
for the organization. Ineffective listening is the failure to hear or receive the speaker
s message. I have found that causes of ineffective listening are uninteresting topics,
critiquing of the speaker, emotional involvement, and failure to adjust to distractions
and emotional content or offensive words. Effective listening requires an
environment and training to be conductive to concentration of the speaker and
receptiveness of the receiver. Strategies that can be implemented to overcome barriers

the damages sustained as a result of a loss that occurred on October 11, 2015, at
22 South Greene Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201 (the Property ). The loss was
the direct and proximate result of Skanska USA Building, Inc. s ( Skanska s )
faulty installation of a fire suppression installation system at the Property. In October
of 2013, the UMMS contracted with Skanska to install a fire suppression system in
the property. To in early 2014, Skanska installed a 2.5 inch Viking sprinkler pipe

When the gasket failed, water from the fire suppression system drenched valuable
MRI equipment located inside the room, the room began to flood, and some of the
water penetrated a concreate slab into the clinical engineering shops in the
basement level below. UMMS staff acted quickly to close the water valve as soon as
they discovered the rupture, but not before significant damage had been done to the
MRI equipment, drywall, carpet, and tiling. Most notably, the manufacture of the
MRI equipment declared the same to be a total loss. UMMS further anticipates that
it will undergo significant expenses to replace and appropriately install pipe fittings
and gaskets in a manner that comports to the October 2013 contract between UMMS
and Skanska. Skanska owed a duty of reasonable care to install the fire suppression
pipe fittings and their accompanying gaskets. Skanska breached that duty by
installing the fire suppression system in a haphazard fashion, and specifically,
crimping multiple gaskets while installing pipe fittings. Due to Skanska s faulty
workmanship, the failure of the fire suppression system resulted in significant
property damage. Moreover, Skanska s faulty workmanship constitutes a breach of
contract between Skanska and UMMS for the installation of the fire suppression
Survival Is The Key Struggle
Survival is the key struggle in The Shawshank Redemption. This film takes place in
the corrupt Shawshank State Penitentiary where mental and physical abuses inflicted
upon prisoners are the hard realities of the system. For the prisoners of Shawshank,
life is often bleak and violent. However, the will to survive is what keeps the
characters motivated to retain their humanity and challenge the institutionalization of
Shawshank. In particular, the film s main protagonists, Andy Dufresne and Ellis
Red Redding, exemplify the struggle for survival in the face of a corrupt,
frightening, and oppressive prison system. In order to survive the harsh realities of
the world, people adapt with personal traits like courage and resourcefulness in
addition to forming community with other people. Without a doubt, courage is a
crucial element for survival in The Shawshank Redemption because courage is the
trait that the prisoners develop in order to overcome their fears in the prison setting.
Of course, fear is the natural instinct people have when they enter the unknown. In
any frightening situation, individuals, like Andy and his fellow new inmates when
they first arrive at Shawshank, must succumb to fear or find the courage to
persevere. At first, it might be difficult for people to find courage in frightening
times, but many individuals still manage to find courage from sources like religious
faith and hope. For example, religious faith is important for courage because faith can

Rule of Law and Separation of Powers
Government under the law and the protection of rights and freedom are twin pillars
of the rule of law. Without the separation of powers, neither of these principles would
be realized.
Governments perform three functions namely executive, judicial and legislative
functions. The role of separation of powers involves the diffusion rather than
concentration of powers within the state. Thus, these branches should be separate,
unique and equal. The underlying principle of the separation of powers is that
individuals have the potential to harm others, and this can become a reality when
power is concentrated in one person, faction, or institution. However, if the branches
were completely separate it would be unworkable since Parliament is ... Show more

In combining the three in separate institutions (the Commons, Lords, and Crown
respectively), the English constitution provides all that is necessary for good
government.
AV Dicey s view on the rule of law cannot be ignored because of the lasting
influence he has had. Dicey s views were derived from his understanding of the
nature of democracy in UK as unitary and self correcting in which the will of the
people are expressed through Parliament, and in which Parliament controlled the
government. In setting out the rule of law, Dicey considered three distinct elements.
No punishment may be inflicted on anyone other than for a breach of the law;
irrespective of rank and status, all men are equal under the law; and the rights and
freedom of citizen are best protected under the common law.
The rule of law represents a challenge to State authority and power, demanding both
that power be granted legitimately and that their exercise is according to law. The
law is not autonomous but rests on the support of those it governs. Whilst the rule of
law places law above everyone, it remains paradoxically subjected to the ultimate
judgment of the people. The rule of law is considered the most fundamental doctrines
of the constitution of UK. The constitution is said to be founded on the idea of the
rule of law.
The UK does have a kind of
The Plage of Bottled Water
Bottled Up
Over the last decades the human race has made magnificent strides in looks for a
greener society. How can we make great leaps in these new science fields when we
are not even capable of taking care of the pollution problem which is greatest harm to
the human race and all Earths inhabitants? Bottled water is the most massed
produced plastic products around to date. The bottled water is supposedly safer,
easier to tote, and helps the economy by providing jobs for citizens. Bottled water
may taste better than regular tap water, but the purity of the water comes at a price
that is often disclosed to the public. The CEO s of the massive bottled water
companies continue to see growth as the years pass on, but on the other hand looking
at how much is paid on the advertising and packaging for the water, they only come
out with a small profit. Bottled water is not only just costly, but it also harms the
environment. If the mass production rate of bottled water continues we will see its
negatives effects on our environment, economy, and its harmful effects on human
lives. Bottled water has plagued our environment since its creation. The Food Water
Watch states that, Rather than being recycled, about 75 percent of the empty plastic
bottles end up in our landfills, lakes, streams and oceans, where they may never fully
decompose . This means that there are millions of bottles left in landfills; which
contribute to the already harmful greenhouse gases in our

NO.41 Jupiter (K
551); it was
Mozart s last symphony before his death. It is conducted by Hartmut Haenchen, with
a reduced ensemble of the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach Chamber Orchestra. It is an
orchestral piece which is performed at the Konzerthaus Berlin. The second piece of
musicis Brahms Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77; it was Brahms only violin
concerto. It was performed at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo in 2002, and was
conducted by Claudio Abbado. It was performed by the Berlin Philharmonic, with

slightly longer at 41 minutes.
The first piece is Symphony No. 41 in C major, K. 551 Jupiter , conducted by Hartmut
Haenchen, and is separated into four movements. The opening of the piece starts with
the entire orchestra starting strong, with contrasting motifs, which then follows into a
slower pace. The first movement of this piece follows the Sonata allegro form quite
closely. The exposition and the recapitulation are about the same in length. The
development is shorter than those two sections, but it is broken up, and put together
with pieces of the themes introduced in the exposition. At the 7:40 mark a heavy use

follows a quick slow quick pattern, which is common in most concerto pieces. The
first movement begins softly and slowly with the brass and woodwinds featured
prominently. The violinist then begins to play the piece s first solo, at about the 2:35
mark, of the first movement, playing in a minor key. At the 2:57 mark, of the first

by the bassoon and clarinet. These instruments continue to play together, gradually

The Pan African Significance Of The Obama Administration
The Pan African significance of the Obama administration, Obama the offspring of a
Kenyan engulfed in a bi racial reality (thus rendering him sensitive to
multiculturalism) who fulfills the dream of an oppressed people, has been the
perceived unification of both the African continent and the diaspora. However, the
term Pan Africanismcomes to stir strong feedback because there is no consensual
agreement on what it is. W.E.B. DuBois, in the 1930s, defined Pan Africanism as a
movement aimed at an intellectual understanding and cooperation among all groups
of African descent in order to bring about the industrial and spiritual emancipation of
the Negro people. Other definitions have come in the form of self government by
African countries south of the Sahara, the economic, social, and cultural development
of the continent, the avoidance of conflict among African states, the promotion of
African unity and influence in world affairs, and a personal favorite, a struggle in
which Africans and others of African blood have been engaged since their contact
with modern Europe. Although none of these definitions are entirely accurate they,
together, frame my understanding of Pan Africanism as a political movement and
philosophical tradition founded on African pride, a consciousness of the past, and a
desired unification of continental Africans and all who identify with the diaspora;
seeing Africa(and its descendents) as one body even in the presence of differing

The Incarceration System Of The United States
Indeed, once upon a time the incarceration system was set in place with two firm
duties: retribution and rehabilitation. When did these institutions, once considered
virtuous and just, become the hallmark of inequality? On September 27th, 2015,
Pope Francis remarked on a visit to a Philadelphia jail It is painful when we see prison
systems, which are not concerned to care for wounds, to soothe pain, to offer new
possibilities, a moving sentiment that would soon resonate with the American
population. Unbeknownst to many listening to his gripping words, в…“ of the world
s female prison population is incarcerated in the United States. And if the magnitude
of that figure does not astound you, maybe the fact that every 1 in 15 American
prisoners are black, while only 1 in 106 prisoners are white, will. These statistics
reported by Harper s Index embody the blatant corruption of the American
incarcerationsystem and the innate institutionalized racism the U.S has sustained
throughout history. Since the inception of the United States, the government has had
one definitive purpose: to protect the people s rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness. These prerogatives established a framework for the optimal democratic
society, one that would be impartial and benevolent. However, the entire non white
population is barred from sharing in these rights. One of the major ways these rights
are denied is through incarceration. A look at our high rates of imprisonment might,
Glaeser City Sociology
1.According to Glaeser, cities attract talent and innovation due to its abundance of
opportunity. Historically, workers migrate to cities in search of employment and
upward mobility, as demonstrated by many cities migration patterns in the early
twentieth century as a result of the Industrial Revolution. However, Glaeser claims
that in order to attract wealthy people, like Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal to
London, a citymust prove to be pleasant and not only abundant in opportunity but in
entertainment because of all the people cities import. Restaurants are a major source
of entertainment in urban life, primarily for the experience of eating out and the fact
that eating out is more convenient since many homes in a city lack adequate... Show

While some cities. A low real wage describes the cost of enjoying the pleasures of
cities like Honolulu whereas a high real wage describes how one must cope with
hardships brought upon by the city such as an unsafe environment or hostile weather
conditions, like New York in the seventies. Low real wages indicate a successful
city with sufficient urban amenities, while those high real wages were a sign of
urban failure the painful crime rate and disintegration of urban amenities (104).
According to the data given of American metropolitan areas, Fresno has the lowest
real wages at $44,501 while Tulsa has the highest at $70,260. By Glaeser s argument,
Fresno should be the metropolitan area with the greatest amenities. However, Fresno
has the lowest median family income and second highest cost of living index. Out of
the five cities, Boston is the most cosmopolitan. The city is rich with entertainment
establishment and enjoys a high median family income. Yet, Fresno appears to offer
more amenities than Boston and definitely Tulsa with the highest real wage. In
Glaeser s logic, a city must be doing something wrong if it has high real wages.
Perhaps signals a lack of investment in urban

the reader, to present how the seamstress has transformed more and more into a
modernised, independent, city girl . This had first become apparent when the
seamstress was able to show her independent thinking for the first time; when they
wanted Four Eyes books and she sudenly swung her head round to face the boys
and said about those books of his what if we stole them? . This moment created a
juxtaposition as the young innocent village girl had become and intelligent woman
that could care for herself after reading one book, written by Balzac. The dramatic
and confident motion of swinging her head round alone foreshadowed the
seamstress departure. The word swinging could allude to how her character and
personality had completely changed direction, taking a 180. The western books act
as a motif in the novel, and we are reminded of this every time the seamstress

campaigns would include point of sale sell strips that hang from the supermarket
shelves. This would increase brand awareness and shelf impact of the product.
While the packaging of the Tim Tam balls is altered, the core brand values of
Arnott s and Tim Tam biscuits is not lost. The packaging still displays the Arnott s
logo with the rosella bird and slogan there is no substitute for quality . The product
is able to leverage itself from these core values to assert that the product is of good
quality. This is called a leveraged superbrand.
Threats
Consumers may underestimate the taste of Tim Tam Balls due to the linkage of Tim
Tam biscuits. Because of the popularity of Tim Tam Biscuits, consumers are
expecting a very similar product in form and shape.
Due to this, it is easy for the consumer to relate Tim Tam balls to a competitor s
product such as Malteser s, which a consumer may already have a preference for.
Analysis Of Those Winter Sundays
Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden
Those winter Sundays written by Robert Hayden is a poem to ponder for a while.
The poem may look simple, but analyzing it deeply shows that is a complicated
one with a well defined sentiment of no appreciation and sorrow towards his
father. These sentiments will change to the end of the poem. Also, the poem can be
understood in various ways: one way could be a positive feeling from the writer
towards his father or the other one could be a complaint about his father s
toughness. The choice of words that Robert Hayden uses is not complicated, which
makes it easy to read and understand at first glance and produces imagery of gloom
and cold changing to warmth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

blueblack cold,/ then with cracked hands that ached/ from labor in the weekday
weather made/ banked fires blaze./ No one ever thanked him (1 5). There is no doubt
that the father was a noble and responsible man.
The writer uses middle diction because he uses an educated language but not
elevated enough to be considered formal diction. He describes what the child
would do on Sunday mornings: I d wake and hear the cold splintering, breaking.
/ When the rooms were warm, he d call,/ and slowly I would rise and dress, (6 8).
The writer uses a proper choice of words and reduces the formality with the
apostrophe in the line number six.
Another aspect of the poem that emphasizes the background of the poem is the syntax.
Sundays too many my father got up early /and put his clothes on in the blueblack
cold (1 2). Robert Hayden writes blueblack before cold to be more specific on the
description of the early morning, which gives the idea of an uncomfortable cold
weather.
The author s tone on this poem changes from sorrow and bitterness to love and
thankfulness. then with cracked hands that ached/ from

25 April 2017 Fandoms a Home to Many When one hears the word fan two mental

believe that the word fan and fandom has turned into something negative. Most

Compare And Contrast New England And Middle Colonies
The British colonies of New England, Middle, and Southern developed during the
17th and 18th centuries as a result of the competitive nature of the European
explorers to colonize and obtain more land than the others. The New England
colonies were built upon the objectives of religious freedom and economic
prosperity. The population was consistently increasing as child birth doubled and
life expectancy improved. They experienced long winters and short summers. The
colonies were located nearby the Atlantic Ocean, which provided the colonists with
great seaports. These ports were used for trade as well as fishing sea life such as
whales and fish. Here is where they set up the Atlantic trade network, importing and
exporting goods with England,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like the other colonies, the south established trading posts. They traded tobacco,
rice, sugar, slaves, and indigo with England. The flat and coastal plains permitted a
great abundance of cash crop plantations. The terrain also comprised of swampy
lands, rivers, good harbors, and bays. The climate was humid unlike New England,
which created mild winters and hot summers. The main goal of the south was
economic prosperity. This invited more men to travel from England by
themselves, which decreased the number of women. The ratio of men to women
was 7:1. Unlike New England and the Middle, the Southern colony s life
expectancy was low due to outbreaks of malaria and yellow fever. Like New
England, the south was dominated by few religions. Protestants and Catholics
immigrated for religious freedom. The protestants however made up the majority of
the population. Cecelius Calvert, also known as Lord Baltimore, was granted
Maryland, where the House of Delegates passed the Act of Toleration that allowed
religious freedoms to all Christians in fear of a Protestant takeover. Unfortunately for
the Catholics, the Protestants did take over and removed them from the legislature.
The south developed an elected legislature with Georgia being ruled as a royal
colony and Sir William Berkeley governing Virginia. Similarly to New England, the
Native Americans were captured and
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) Essay
Streptococcus pyogenes, also known as Group A streptococcus (GAS), is a ОІ
hemolytic, Gram positive bacterium that most commonly causes respiratory disease,
including pharyngitis or tonsillitis, as well as skin infections such as impetigo and
cellulitis. The organism is transmitted via respiratory droplets or by contact with
fomites, and commonly infects young children. In addition to the common clinical
presentations associated with S. pyogenes, some individuals develop the
postinfectious sequelae of rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis. Due to the
severity of these medical consequences, prophylactic antibiotic use is often
recommended for any patients with otherwise mild S. pyogenes infections (21).

Antibiotic use, particularly with clindamycin and linezolid, may be useful in treating
GAS associated necrotizing fasciitis, as they target both M proteins and exotoxins (5).
Some cases have been treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy, with recent data
suggesting prompt surgical therapy instead is vital for preventing amputations (18).
Even after treatment, however, necrotizing fasciitis mortality has been estimated to
range from 24% 60% (10).
In S. pyogenes associated necrotizing fasciitis, the bacteria first invade host fascia
before spreading and causing more invasive damage. Initial GAS invasion can occur
through three primary pathways: 1) preceding superficial infection; 2) direct
inoculation; or 3) hematogenous seeding from a previous injury site. After
colonization, GAS spread through the typically sterile fascial planes that separate
muscle groups, which are only loosely held together by connective tissue. The
streptococci then release several proteases and other virulence factors that cause
localized tissue damage. Simultaneously, this dissemination prompts the arrival of
acute inflammatory host cells; the response of polymorphouclear leukocytes (PMNs),
in particular, can also contribute to the tissue damage characteristic of necrotizing
fasciitis. Once the

Rockhold, also a former Strikeforce middleweight champion, hasn t fought since

amount of immigrants that have been caught has doubled since the 80s and 90s. In

The Hiding Place Essay

We must tell people, Corrie. We must tell them what we learned, said Betsie. The
Hiding Place, by Corrie ten Boom, is the biography of a woman in Holland during
the Holocaust. The book starts out in 1937, in Haarlem, Holland. Corrie and her
family were Christians who hid Jews from persecution by the German soldiers.
Corrie was forced to make decisions and take actions all throughout different
periods in her life. When her mother fell ill, she learned to care for someone who
couldn t do anything for her. During the time when the family was hiding the Jews,
she was forced to be brave and strong. Finally, when her family was taken to the

Reluctantly but bravely, Corrie told a lie when asked whether or not they had more
than one radio. She answered with No, when in fact another was hidden in their
home. The ten Booms learned to trust in God when faced with fear, and He helped
them to be brave during the underground period. Despite their efforts, the ten Boom
family was captured and taken to concentration camps, although the Jews in the house
were not found. Casper, Corrie s father, died ten days later, and Nollie was released
eventually, but Betsie and Corrie stayed imprisoned. Unfortunately, they were
subjected to horrific conditions, and they witnessed the deaths of many innocent
people. For many people, the concentration camp would have been the end of their
work, but for Corrie and Betsie the months they spent in RavensbrГјck became their
finest hour. Corrie described how she struggled with and overcame the hate that she
had for the man who betrayed her family. Holding secret worship services, Corrie
and Betsie were able to comfort the inmates and share the love of Christ. Although
Betsie eventually died of sickness, Corrie was able to continue her legacy within the
concentration camps and beyond, in her ministry. The Hiding Place is a fascinating
story of Corrie ten Boom during the Holocaust, who overcame fear, pain, and tragedy
with the help of her family and God. Selflessly, she cared for

in order to encourage or persuade you to send you kids to a public school. She wants
parents to be concerned about the public and its needs. If you send your child to a
private school, it means that you are playing a role in ruining one of the essential
institutions. The central assumption behind this strong opinion and understanding is
that, if all parents started sending their children off to public schools, public
education as an entire institution would improve more than we can even imagine at
the moment. This article was published on August 29th 2013 at 5:50pm, on slates

the whole situation. Allison Benedikt begins her article by developing her
credibility with personal experiences citing convincing facts. In her manifesto
Benedict rants about the differences between public and private schools showing
the effects with a blunt rant. In her article Benedikt first starts by appealing
optimistic emotions to the audience when she said send your kids to public school
even if you can afford private . Future generations will thank you . What the author
means by this is by sending your kids to public schools it would get better; this
change however is apparently not going to take place over time. It would require
many generations to happen and thus a lot of time. This also means that during the
time until this desired change occurs, the generations in between will have to suffer
by receiving an ordinary or average education. This might seem like a very long time.

Literature Review Of Literature On Online Shopping
CHAPTER 2
Literature Review
2.1 Introduction
Online shopping is a new dimension of trade that emerged as a result of the
overbearing usefulness of the internet as an information dissemination platform. Its
remarkable growth has attracted numerous comments of researchers. This is
evidenced by the number of publications on this theme in the recent time.
Nevertheless, while the behaviour of online shoppers has dominated in the literature,
little attention has been paid to their level of satisfaction and general experience in
shopping online. Online shopping is actually an offshoot of e commerce whereby
consumers directly buy goods or services from a seller in real time, without an
intermediary service, over the internet. Online shopping from the shoppers
perspective has been defined as the process consumers go through to purchase
products or services over the internet (Monsuwe, Dellaert ... Show more content on

According to Kunz (2014) and Taylor and Cosenza (2013), ease in using the Internet
as a means of shopping positively impacted the consumer s online shopping behavior.
A similar finding was noted by Segars and Grover (2013). Convenience. One such
attitude that influenced the online shoppers has been that of convenience (Shim
Mahoney, 2012). The non consumer s primary motivation was to save time, money,
and hassles associated with in store shopping. Online shoppers sought to solve these
issues by utilizing the Internet. Convenience has been noted as positively influencing
online purchasing behavior as it eliminated the necessity of having to travel to one or
more stores. Internet shoppers more highly value convenience than did non Internet
shoppers (Donthu Garcia, 2009).
Enjoyment. Enjoyment in shopping can be two fold: enjoyment from the product
purchased as well as the process of shopping itself. Online shopping like in store
shopping, provided both types of enjoyment and such enjoyment can positively or
negatively influence online shopping (Taylor Cosenza,

Tactics to implement the strategy
Kudler needs to find a way to know the business of its supplier or its distributors,
so as to reduce cost and the uncertainty that comes with doing business with them.
In doing so, they stand a better of surviving at long run in the market they intend to
dominate one stop shop. Kudler need to employ the porter s model so as to be
competitive. Kudler needs to analyze the threat of new competitors, the bargaining
power of suppliers, the bargaining of its customers, threat of substitute product or
services and rivalry among existing firms in the industry (Turban 2003). From the
products they offer, they have incorporated the bargaining power of customers into
consideration and providing substitutes in the same product line. The business level
strategy should be a mix of cost leadership strategy with differentiation strategy built
in. In doing so, they are positioned to always increase their earnings. In cost
leadership, it requires firm to carry out its activities more efficiently than
competitors, passing some of the cost savings to consumers in the form of lower

invest in the creation of new products or add new features to existing products so that

Iowa State has only beaten the Hawkeyes 26 times. Although both teams are proud

Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder
that is found in approximately 5% of children and is characterized by disruptive
patterns of inattention and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity that persists for at least
six months (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The prevalence of ADHD
makes it an especially important disorder to study. The Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric Association,
2013) lists three different presentations within ADHD based on the two separate
categories of symptoms (Inattention and Hyperactivity/Impulsivity): Predominantly

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5;
American Psychiatric Association, 2013) mentions that children with ADHD may
be susceptible to cognitive difficulties. Research has shown that children who
presented problems related to cognition tended to show a greater benefit from
engaging in private speech than those who did not have such difficulties when
completing tasks (Aro et al., 2015), providing a possible explanation for why those
with ADHD are likely to use more private speech. Given the inattentive aspect of
ADHD, research suggests that children with ADHD are likely to use more private
speech than their peers because engaging in private speech is helpful for children
when trying to focus their attention to a task (Aro et al., 2015; Patrick Abravanel,
2000). Also related to issues with attention, Berk Potts (1991) have found in their
research that children with ADHD tend to engage in more forms of private speech
that are meant to help guide themselves through the activity and mediate their
behavior while working on a task. For the most part, private speech in children with
ADHD seems to be used to focus attention and guide behavior to progress towards a
solution to the task (Aro et al., 2015; Berk Potts, 1991; Patrick Abravanel,
The Ethics Of The Ethical Systems
The Ethical Systems In ethics, four systems serve as different beliefs concerning our
morals: Relativism Ethics, Consequentialism Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Virtue
Ethics. These four theories attempt to define what right and wrong should be and
how one should handle any situation. There are many strengths and weaknesses of
each view. The goal is to determine which theory is the best by exploring real world
situations and questioning the claims that just don t work out.
RELATIVISM ETHICS
There are two different types of relativistic views: Cultural Relativism and
Subjectivism. Cultural Relativism is the belief that culture defines what is right and
wrong. Subjectivism is the belief that the individual person decides what is right and
wrong. Many pros and cons exist with an overall relativistic view. First, the positive:
Someone with this view will obviously be very tolerant and is not likely to
discriminate against a different culture or person. Also, morality depends on a social
experience, instead of being derived from a higher being, morality is derived from
the surrounding people. It is good to know the diversity and experience the many
aspects of the world. Although this might sound like a perfect world for everyone to
be tolerant and understanding of one another, there are many flaws to this theory.
One flaw is that with this way of thinking, justice cannot exist. If someone committed
murder, they cannot be punished because they believe murder is right, which
Jediism Research Paper
Freedom of religion should be a right in every country for everyone, because you
should be able to praise or believe in whatever they want. Have you ever heard of
Jediism and Pastafarianism(Flying Spaghetti Monster)? Probably not unless your
apart of one of these religions, jediism is a philosophy mainly based on the depiction
of the Jedi characters in Star Wars media. Pastafarianism is a social movement that
promotes a light hearted view of religionand opposes the teaching of intelligent
design. Crazy right, Freedom of religion should be a right in every country for
everyone, because you should be able to praise or believe in whatever they want.
What does religion mean? Well according to the dictionary it means, the belief in
and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
In a religion a group of people, praise or worship their (creator) that could be from an
all powerful man or a machine, depends on the religion and what it believes in.

Religion is a group of people or a personal belief, which means the group of people
who are involved believe in the same thing, but they are not forced or pressured.
Someone who is the religion leader can help people be affected in emotionally
ways, because it helps give a person hope, faith, or happiness. For instance a church
in KC a man was really touched by the pastor and had an emotionally break down,

that it shows how the people who affect each other are all the ones who believe in
the same thing so they aren t socially affected unless they are just becoming more
Theodore Roosevelt And The Cuban War
The most important person in American history is Theodore Roosevelt. During his
life, he made a great impact on America. Roosevelt was the 26th president and fought
in the Spanish American War, also known as the Cuban War. He was the most
influential person who supported the completion of construction of the Panama
Canal. One of the first and most important National Parks, Theodore Roosevelt
National Park in western North Dakota, was named after him too. During his
presidency, he inspired many. If it was not for Theodore Roosevelt, our society
would not be as advanced as it is today. Theodore was born on October 27, 1858.
He was six when President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, and he watched the
funeral procession from his grandfather s house in New York City. As a child, he
was sickly and weak, and suffered from dangerous asthma. Part of the 4th generation
of Roosevelts in this country, his boyhood nickname was Teedie. . Teedie spent most
of his free time collecting dead animals or animal skeletons trying to form a small
museum he set up in a nursery with his cousins. This was around the time when he
was starting to become interested in science. Zoology was his favorite science subject.
He left for Europe for a few years. Bored from the traveling, Theodore decided to
play with his siblings. Unfortunately he played roughly and had a few minor
accidents. After awhile, he noticed it was harder for him to see. By the age of 13 he
and his family had found out that he had
Essay On The Group
When my summer coworkers invited me to join their fall trivia team I knew I had
found the perfect collective activity for this project. The Grawood organizes a
trivia night every Wednesday night from nine until midnight. It runs through the
summer and school year. I focused on one particular group. I sat with this group
and observed them for a couple sessions of trivia. By 8:30 the Grawood is already
packed and every table is full. Groups of regular trivia goers gather early to get
tables near the stage. Many greet each other with hugs and greetings of people you
have not seen since the last week s trivia night. Several groups, including the one I
was observing, seem to only see each other at trivia. These groups chat and catch up
until... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the trivia begins however, a hush falls. Phones disappear into pockets and
voices drop in volume. Everyone seems to automatically follow rules for the most
part. No one seems to care enough about winning to be accused of cheating. The
risk of being labelled as a cheater does not seem to outweigh the reward of winning.
In our group, a couple members were chided by other members about having their
phones out in case anyone even thought they were cheating. One girl, who has
clearly had quite a bit to drink is yelling and wavering in her chair. She receives
many dirty looks from my group and other neighbouring tables. No one says
anything but she is clearly considered a disruption. The only time groups are
noticeably loud are during the large gaps between sections. During that time music
is playing in background (usually songs that were featured on the song questions
from the previous section) and people are jabbering to each other. Conversation do
not actually tend to be about the trivia, but rather the previous week, catching up
with each other, and swapping stories. One common theme to the trivia night was
the benefits regulars received. There is a free answer given out on twitter every
week. The trivia is set up the same every week as well: first section has a theme,
second section is usually a mystery word, and the last section has the same types of
questions given out each week. This gives an advantage to returning groups. Despite

William McKinley 25th President of the United States. William McKinley was
born on January 29, 1843 in Niles, Ohio, a town of about 300 people. He was the
7th child born to William and Nancy Alison McKinley His family moved to
Poland, Ohio when he was nine years old so that the children could go to a private
school called the Poland Academy. In school William liked to read, debate, and he
was the president of the school s first debate club. When he was 16 he went to
Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, for a while before he got sick and
had to return home .he did not go back to Meadville, because the family had no
money. Instead, he worked as a postal clerk for awhile. When the Civil War started

During this time as governor he became friends with millionaire industrialist Mark
Hanna from Cleveland, Ohio. In 1892 McKinley was at the Republican National
Convention and was almost nominated for the presidency. Mark Hanna had
unofficially opened a McKinley for President headquarters in Minneapolis,
Minnesota. In 1893, McKinley faced a personal problem that almost sidetracked
his political career. He had co signed bank notes totaling more than $100,000.00 to
help a friend start a business. The business went down the drain, and McKinley
was expected to repay the bank loans. McKinley did not have the money. His
friends, led by Mark Hanna, raised enough money to repay the debt. The public felt
bad for McKinley and he was re elected as governor in 1893. In 1896, the
Republicans again supported McKinley and he was nominated as the Republican
presidential contender with Garret Hobart, a New Jersey senator, as his running
mate. The Democratic opponents were William Jennings Bryan, from Nebraska,
whose running mate was Arthur Sewall, a rich ship builder. McKinley conducted a
front porch campaign in Canton, partly because he didn t want to leave his wife.
Over 750,000 people visited Canton to hear him speak. McKinley won the election

Narrative Essay On The Eiffel Tower
I woke up thinking about the contest again, but I pushed it aside and got ready to
go touring again and today we were going to the Eiffel Tower. We headed out at
10:00am and drove there in a cab, we arrived and the view from our room was no
match to the real deal, it was outstanding and a lot bigger than I imaged too. We got
in line for tickets and it didn t take to long, so we found our tour guide, so that she
could take us up in it, I was nervous and excited at the same time because I don t
like heights, but I do love scenery. We went up in an elevator to the first floor or the
first platform and let me tell you,it was as beautiful as a thousand roses, literally,
there was thousands of roses everywhere, it was magnificent. After a while we got
back on the elevator to go to the top and on the way up the tour guide told us that it
is about 108 floor tall, twice the size of the one is Vegas. The elevator stopped and
we stepped out. The breeze was perfect and so was the weather, we walked out to a
telescope and plopped in a quarter. All I could say was wow, my mom and dad were
almost speechless too. Once we got up there I realized i wasn t afraid anymore,
hopefully the contest was going to be the same way, I took it all in, along with a
thousand photos my mom took of us and everything else. We kept looking at
everything, it was like nothing I ve ever experienced before, it was perfect and so
delicate, words were not enough to explain it. The city was busy and all the cars
and people looked like ants, the park around us was perfect, the grass, the trees
everything seemed so perfect around us, at least until it started to pour rain. We ran
into the elevator and luckily there was enough room for all of us because there
were people who didn t get in and i was sure they were drenched by now. After
some time we got to the bottom and ran to our cab as fast as cheetahs, but it didn t
matter, we were drenched as well. We got in our cab and drove to our hotel to
change and dry off. We wandered the hotel after we changed, to look at all the
paintings and statues. It stopped raining after a little while and we decided to go
shopping around the boutiques, the look of the boutiques made me think that
everything was

B1: BUDGETS
The Marketplace simulation helped me realize how complicated and difficult
decision making can be when trying to build a company. Among the most important
simulation results were utilizing the budgets and pro forma statements. Budgets are
beneficial as a financial plan by listing all planned expenses and income. The
purpose is to be able to forecast revenues and expenses and create a business model
that operates effectively to make sure overhead can be paid.

I was then felt more confident to move a little more aggressively into Quarter 4.
PRO FORMA STATEMENTS
Pro forma is similar in many ways to a historical income statement; however, it
projects the future rather than tracking the past. I used the pro forma statements a lot
in determining growth decisions to see what the financial effects would be in the
future. In Quarter 4 they were very useful because I wanted to increase my sales force
from 14 sales people to 24 sales people.
I was pretty confident that our sales would justify the additional office and salary
expense. However, as I looked at the pro forma statements it became very apparent
that the sales force would sell more unit than the plant could produce. In hindsight,
I should have increase production in Quarter 2 so I could keep up with future sales
in Quarter 4. As a result, I did not hire new sales people but I fine tuned my
advertising by copying my competitors and increased the advertising budget from
$198,598 to $311,897. The pro forma income statement showed total revenues at
$8,280,065 which was jump from $6,888,870. My operating profit also increased
from $1,104,794 to $1,658,769. I was content with the slow but steady growth.

Major Depressive Disorder In The Yellow Wallpaper By...
After reading Charlotte Perkins Gilman`s short story The Yellow Wallpaper and
having carefully analyzed the text, I am leaning towards a diagnosis of, major
depressive disorder. The observed symptoms, which the protagonist seems to line
up with the following symptoms listed in for Major depressive disorder in the
DSM 5 checklist provided in the book (Comer, 2014). In the short story, the
protagonist has mentioned and expressed with her actions feeling: in a depressed
mood for most of the day, Daily diminished interest or pleasure in almost all
activates for most of the day, Decrease in daily appetite, experiencing hypersomnia,
daily fatigue or loss of energy (Comer, 2014). These things mentioned are symptoms

For a long period, those suffering from disorders were not given the most adequate
treatments. In fact, it was believed that those with mental illnesses were possessed
by demons or were accused of witchcraft because of their abnormal behavior
(Comer, 2014). Later on new solutions for these illnesses rise. Those with mental
disorders would either get operations called trephinations (Comer, 2014) or were
locked away in a hospital, which is exactly what happened to the protagonist of this
short story The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
. However, the
protagonist was not locked up away in a hospital, but she was locked up in a room
in her house because of her husband, a physician, believed this would help cure her
depression. Unfortunately, his treatment did not the way he expected. But recently,
changes have been made, and breakthroughs in the cause and treatment of mental
illness have been discovered. Unfortunately, these discoveries did not come soon
enough for some. Luckily, psychologists have learned from the mistakes of doctors
treatments. Her husband diagnosed her with depression, therefore he should have
encouraged her to go out and do activities she highly enjoys. It would have been
great if he spent more time with her or surround her with her loved ones instead of

Barium Swallow Case Study
Barium Swallow A barium swallow is an X ray exam that is used to evaluate the
area at the back of your throat (pharynx) and the tube that carries food and liquid
from your mouth to your stomach (esophagus). For this exam, you will swallow a
white chalky liquid called barium. X rays are done while the barium passes through
your pharynx and esophagus. The barium makes it easier for your health care
provider to see possible problems in this area. A barium swallow may be done to
check for various problems, such as: Ulcers. Tumors. Inflammation of the esophagus.

You will likely drink the barium through a straw. During the procedure, the X ray
table may be moved to a more upright angle. You may also be asked to shift your
position on the table. This will allow your entire esophagus to be viewed. The
health care provider will watch the barium flow through your esophagus using a
type of X ray that allows images to be viewed on a monitor in a movie like
sequence (fluoroscopy). X ray images will also be stored for later viewing. AFTER
THE PROCEDURE You can return to your regular activities and diet unless
instructed otherwise by your health care provider. Your stool (feces) may be white
or gray for 2 3 days until all the barium has passed out of your body in your stool.
You may be given a laxative to take in order to help remove the barium from your
body. Your health care provider may recommend other things to help prevent
constipation after this procedure, including: в—‹ Drinking enough fluid to keep your
urine clear or pale yellow. в—‹ Eating foods that have a lot of fiber, such as fruits,
vegetables, whole grains, and beans. Call your health care provider
The Consequences Of Adderall Abuse
One reason is that Adderall literally consists of amphetamines, so it definitely has
abuse and addiction potential. Amphetamines are chemically similar to
methamphetamine, which is the main ingredient in a street drug named crystal math
(Hart). We all know that crystal meth is highly addictive and ruined many lives.
Since, when have you heard about anything positive resulting from abusers of crystal
meth? If considering chasing the euphoria as a positive, then please ask the meth
users about their current situation in regards to livelihoods. The comparison between
users of Adderall without a prescription and meth heads might be a bit dramatic. On

Analysis Of Ip Man And Fist Of Legend
The final scenes of Ip Man and Fist of Legend are much more than just epic fight
scenes between the protagonist and antagonist. These fight scenes are the
culmination of Chinese struggle against Japanese oppression. The overarching focus
of this paper will be directed towards each films use of martial arts as a medium for
Chinese nationalism. The overall method for introducing Chinese nationalism to each
film is relatively similar. The main difference between the Chinese nationalism
established in these films, compared to films before the Cultural Revolution is, Ip
Man and Fist of Legend use nationalism as a tool for commercial success rather than
promoting ideology. The directors create tones of national pride to establish an

The Second Sino Japanese War is remembered in Chinese history as a crucial turning
point. Throughout the 20th century, China was fighting to retain its national
sovereignty over imperial powers that would rather carve China into spheres of
political influence. Anti Japanese sentiment is one of the most common themes in
Chinese martial arts films.2 Chinese martial arts films are also closely associated
with anti imperialism, filial piety, and confucian based morality. The films Ip Man
and Fist of Legend, make use of anti Japanese sentiments to conjure feelings of
nationalism in the audience. In what has developed as a unique expression of
Chinese national identity, martial arts films have provided the Chinese audience with
a conduit for national pride.
Ip Man and Fist of Legend were designed to be easily consumed by a Chinese
audience. The box office success of both of these films can be attributed in large part
to their identical cinematic elements that consolidate the mainstream political agenda
with pleasing cinema. The films draw on thrilling fight scenes, an epic and semi
historical storyline, popular lead actors, machismo through violence, and a central
theme of Chinese nationalism. Combining those values together resulted in films that
were clearly targeting the Chinese diaspora and in the director s eye, all other
audiences that found the film enjoyable were an added bonus. Donnie Yen

Carbon Monoxide Research Paper
In Superior Wisconsin, the CO alarm of a neighbor could have saved two people
over the holiday season. Two individuals had been sickened as a result of carbon
monoxide poisoning, and they had to be taken to the Superior hospital, where they
had been listed as stable. When firefighters responded to the call about carbon
monoxide, they learned of the deadly carbon monoxide levels inside the apartment
building located on the 1500 block of Broadway.
During the initial monitoring, they found low levels of carbon monoxide. Around
five parts per million within the hallway of the apartment, but one apartment on the
first floor had excess levels that reached above 70 ppm. During further investigation,
firefighters discovered that a malfunctioning furnace was the culprit for the higher
levels of CO. To make matters worse, the carbon monoxide detector had the battery
removed, which could have proven a fatal mistake if the neighboring apartment had
not had a detector that triggered the alarm. It alerted everyone within that building

Art Critique Example Essay.pdf

  • 1. Art Critique Example Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of "Art Critique" presents a unique set of challenges, demanding a delicate balance between subjective interpretation and objective analysis. To begin with, the inherent subjectivity of art necessitates a nuanced approach. The writer must navigate through the diverse perceptions and opinions surrounding the artwork, acknowledging that what might resonate with one observer might not have the same impact on another. Moreover, articulating one's thoughts in a coherent and engaging manner becomes crucial when delving into the intricacies of art critique. The writer needs to possess not only a deep understanding of artistic principles but also the ability to communicate these insights effectively. Balancing the technical aspects of the artwork with the emotional and conceptual dimensions requires a careful and thoughtful exploration of the piece. The research involved in preparing such an essay is another aspect that adds to the complexity. Beyond just describing the artwork, the writer must delve into the artist's background, historical context, and art movements to provide a comprehensive analysis. This demands extensive reading and an in-depth investigation to offer a well-rounded perspective. Furthermore, addressing the subjective nature of art critique introduces an element of vulnerability. Expressing one's personal opinions while maintaining a respectful tone is challenging, as the writer must navigate the fine line between critique and criticism. This calls for a heightened sense of tact and diplomacy, ensuring that the essay fosters intellectual discussion rather than provoking unwarranted discord. In conclusion, crafting an essay on art critique is a challenging task that demands a delicate blend of subjectivity, objectivity, and effective communication. It requires a deep understanding of artistic principles, extensive research, and the ability to express one's thoughts with clarity and diplomacy. Despite the challenges, the process can be immensely rewarding, providing a platform for meaningful exploration and dialogue surrounding the world of art. • 2. Actual Cash Value Of A Homeowner s Insurance Homeowner s insurance at times can seem really complicated. It can be easy to just assume that the homeowner s package that your insurance agent put together provides you with the most value and the most protection in the event of a loss. However, that is not always the case, which is why it is important for you to understand the implications of every aspect of your homeowner s insurancepolicy. Here is a quick breakdown of the difference between having your home and belongings insured for the replacement cost verses the actual cash value. Actual Cash Value When many people here the term actual cash value, they assume that means that they are going to get exactly what they think their home is worth should anything happen to it. However, the reality is a little different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They will only have to pay you for the value of that part of your home minus standard depreciation rates. For example, if your roof was installed ten years ago and at that time was worth $10,000 but has depreciated $5,000 over the last ten years, your insurance company only has to provide you with $5,000 to replace your roof. Not only will you have to pay your deductible in full before your insurance company provides you with this money, you will also be responsible for paying the reminder of the repair costs on your own and there is a really good chance that it will cost you more to replace your roof today than it did ten years ago. When your homeowner s insurance policy covers the actual cash value of your home and your belongings, you are going to have to pay out your deductible as well as the extra money necessary to fix your home or replace your belongings. Although actual cash value policies tend to cost less in the short term, you tend to have to pay more in the long term if something actually happens to your home. Replacement
  • 3. Impact Of Digital Technology On Graphic Design The Impact of Digital Technology on Graphic Design Alicia Long Degree in Communication Design, Year 3 2015/2016 The Glasgow School of Art Jesse O Neill The Impact of Digital Technology on Graphic Design In a continuously evolving world, digital technology has come to rise and this has brought on significant changes in the way the industry of graphic design functions. With the emergence of digital developments, it has allowed designers to create and engage in a new realm of digital media. This has brought on shifts in the way designers create and with the addition of a range of digital software and tools for exploring and realizing ideas in a more efficient manner, design is no longer limited to physical forms. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before digital technology was available in graphic design, conceptual and production methods were simply through training hand letter type, thumbnails and sketches . As design methods evolved accordingly, marks of individualism at the drawing board vanished and are now replaced with the capacity to command technological means of production . Digital softwares can be fully utilized to help create and finish all aspects of a project to a high professional manner and at the same time, ease the process of origination. Not only has it changed the way a design is created from scratch, it has also transformed the way designers and clients collaborate and interact with each other on professional level . With so much convenience and accessibility, there is no doubt why digital technology is able to make a significant impact on graphic design. Ironically, convenience creates reliance and hence, it is also important to consider the less positive impacts of technology. When digital softwares become a dominant aspect in the creation of designs, it is easy for a designer to let the computer produce more of the work and this significantly lessens creativity. As the nature of design requires the designer to think and act on his or her thoughts, the presence of convenient digital functions makes the process of creation gradually systematic and boring

  • 5. Literary Reflection Intent and purpose of this class The intent of this class is to give the student a well rounded overview of the basic parts of a short story or novel. These include plot, character, point of view, strong openings to a story, dialogue and writing enhancement. But we may move onto the next assignment if you haven t completed in the assignment within a few days. Lesson one: The Plot in the Story Introduction Good stories have a beginning, middle and end. But editors look for the plot arc, or some variation of it. If you are an established, well recognized author you might tweak The arc model, but the rest of us must slug through it. And for good reason. The arc will pull your reader through the story. It is the reason why your reader will turn the pages until the very end. It also helps the writer focus their story line, cut out the parts that are slowing it down, and highlight the parts that help move the story. Trust me, in the end The arc will be your friend. If all of this comes as a surprise to you then you have been reading wonderful books or watching wonderful movies/TV shows
  • 6. Compare And Contrast Phoenix And Ellensburg Phoenix, Arizona and Ellensburg, Washington are cities which are more than 1,300 miles from one another. In the United States, distance between a pair of towns does not automatically mean that drastic differences will exist, but the disparities in this instance are numerous. The following discussion details critical distinctions amongst the two. Stereotypical wisecracks of larger metropolitan areas include bumper to bumper traffic and complications associated with overcrowding. Customarily following these remarks are threats to head for somewhere quieter and less stressful. When Phoenixand Ellensburg are contrasted, the latter has decidedly less to offer those considering leaving the city; small town living only appears tempting in movies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ellensburg is woefully limited as far as dining and entertainment are concerned. Pub crawls embark partygoers on a brief journey through roughly eight square blocks of its pint sized downtown district. Disappointingly, intimate dinners spotlighting phenomenal dishes scarcely coincide with the good company and engaging conversation had by playful couples. Although historic local museums and galleries display fascinating accounts of the past and compelling artistry, families rarely express enthusiasm for sophisticated recreation. Conversely, Phoenix knows no bounds in the restaurant and leisure departments. For example, adventurous bar hoppers drift from upscale speakeasies serving throwback cocktails in a dimly lit lounge to hipster brewpubs whose menus list craft beer flights from around the world. Also, Romantic date nights unassumingly commence over cuisine prepared by world renowned chefs at Zagat rated sushi bistros and James Beard Award winning pizzerias. Moms and dads devote quality time to the kids at indoor trampoline arenas for a healthy way to let off some steam; or, celebrate birthdays at amusement parks with festivities spanning from miniature golf to roller coasters and arcades. The monotony typically experienced in little towns seldom creates sentimental recollections worthy of

Energy conservation is a very critical issue in wireless sensor networks. In this paper a TDMA based MAC protocols are used to conserve the energy in wireless sensor networks which is used in an irrigation system. An algorithm is developed with threshold values of moisture level, temperature of the soil and humidity sensor that are programmed into microcontroller based gateway to control irrigation in a field. Also two methods based on TDMA scheduling are used. The first one is direct communication method, in which each node transmitted the data directly to the sink node and other one is data aggregation method in which nodes are grouped into clusters to save energy. Morreale Communication is a two way process that takes practice and time to be fully effective and is very important in every aspect our personal and professional lives. We communicate every day of our lives both verbally or nonverbally. The process of verbal communication is the exchanging information by transmitting an idea, send that idea, receive feedback, understand the idea and the feedback and provide feedback to the person who sent the message. The main components of communication are context, encoder, message, medium, decoder, and feedback. The context could be social, chronological, cultural, or physical. The individual sending the message will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The four types of barriers to effective communication are emotional barriers, physical barriers, semantic barriers, and ineffective listening (Wallace amp; Roberson, 2009). Emotional barriers can be present in either the sender or the receiver and may be based on personal experiences or expectations. Physical barriers are considered to be an obstruction in which it makes it difficult to allow free flow of information. For example, a physical barrier can be an officer reporting information regarding a crime or equipment malfunctions to a supervisor. A semantic barrier is the study of the development and meaning of words. In the Criminal Justice system officers can interpret a term, such as juvenile delinquent in different ways. This can mean that the juvenile is hard core and under age youth or a youth acting out. Having the ability to understand the meaning of these terms can result in bad communication for the organization. Ineffective listening is the failure to hear or receive the speaker s message. I have found that causes of ineffective listening are uninteresting topics, critiquing of the speaker, emotional involvement, and failure to adjust to distractions and emotional content or offensive words. Effective listening requires an environment and training to be conductive to concentration of the speaker and receptiveness of the receiver. Strategies that can be implemented to overcome barriers
  • 11. Umm Global Case My firm represents the Factory Mutual Insurance Company ( FM Global ) and the University of Maryland Medical System ( UMMS ) regarding the above referenced subrogation matter. FM Global has asked that we pursue recovery of the damages sustained as a result of a loss that occurred on October 11, 2015, at 22 South Greene Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201 (the Property ). The loss was the direct and proximate result of Skanska USA Building, Inc. s ( Skanska s ) faulty installation of a fire suppression installation system at the Property. In October of 2013, the UMMS contracted with Skanska to install a fire suppression system in the property. To in early 2014, Skanska installed a 2.5 inch Viking sprinkler pipe fitting with a rubber gasket.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the gasket failed, water from the fire suppression system drenched valuable MRI equipment located inside the room, the room began to flood, and some of the water penetrated a concreate slab into the clinical engineering shops in the basement level below. UMMS staff acted quickly to close the water valve as soon as they discovered the rupture, but not before significant damage had been done to the MRI equipment, drywall, carpet, and tiling. Most notably, the manufacture of the MRI equipment declared the same to be a total loss. UMMS further anticipates that it will undergo significant expenses to replace and appropriately install pipe fittings and gaskets in a manner that comports to the October 2013 contract between UMMS and Skanska. Skanska owed a duty of reasonable care to install the fire suppression pipe fittings and their accompanying gaskets. Skanska breached that duty by installing the fire suppression system in a haphazard fashion, and specifically, crimping multiple gaskets while installing pipe fittings. Due to Skanska s faulty workmanship, the failure of the fire suppression system resulted in significant property damage. Moreover, Skanska s faulty workmanship constitutes a breach of contract between Skanska and UMMS for the installation of the fire suppression
  • 12. Survival Is The Key Struggle Survival is the key struggle in The Shawshank Redemption. This film takes place in the corrupt Shawshank State Penitentiary where mental and physical abuses inflicted upon prisoners are the hard realities of the system. For the prisoners of Shawshank, life is often bleak and violent. However, the will to survive is what keeps the characters motivated to retain their humanity and challenge the institutionalization of Shawshank. In particular, the film s main protagonists, Andy Dufresne and Ellis Red Redding, exemplify the struggle for survival in the face of a corrupt, frightening, and oppressive prison system. In order to survive the harsh realities of the world, people adapt with personal traits like courage and resourcefulness in addition to forming community with other people. Without a doubt, courage is a crucial element for survival in The Shawshank Redemption because courage is the trait that the prisoners develop in order to overcome their fears in the prison setting. Of course, fear is the natural instinct people have when they enter the unknown. In any frightening situation, individuals, like Andy and his fellow new inmates when they first arrive at Shawshank, must succumb to fear or find the courage to persevere. At first, it might be difficult for people to find courage in frightening times, but many individuals still manage to find courage from sources like religious faith and hope. For example, religious faith is important for courage because faith can make
  • 13. Rule of Law and Separation of Powers Government under the law and the protection of rights and freedom are twin pillars of the rule of law. Without the separation of powers, neither of these principles would be realized. Governments perform three functions namely executive, judicial and legislative functions. The role of separation of powers involves the diffusion rather than concentration of powers within the state. Thus, these branches should be separate, unique and equal. The underlying principle of the separation of powers is that individuals have the potential to harm others, and this can become a reality when power is concentrated in one person, faction, or institution. However, if the branches were completely separate it would be unworkable since Parliament is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In combining the three in separate institutions (the Commons, Lords, and Crown respectively), the English constitution provides all that is necessary for good government. AV Dicey s view on the rule of law cannot be ignored because of the lasting influence he has had. Dicey s views were derived from his understanding of the nature of democracy in UK as unitary and self correcting in which the will of the people are expressed through Parliament, and in which Parliament controlled the government. In setting out the rule of law, Dicey considered three distinct elements. How can we make great leaps in these new science fields when we are not even capable of taking care of the pollution problem which is greatest harm to the human race and all Earths inhabitants? Bottled water is the most massed produced plastic products around to date. The bottled water is supposedly safer, easier to tote, and helps the economy by providing jobs for citizens. Bottled water may taste better than regular tap water, but the purity of the water comes at a price that is often disclosed to the public. The CEO s of the massive bottled water companies continue to see growth as the years pass on, but on the other hand looking at how much is paid on the advertising and packaging for the water, they only come out with a small profit. Bottled water is not only just costly, but it also harms the environment. If the mass production rate of bottled water continues we will see its negatives effects on our environment, economy, and its harmful effects on human lives. Bottled water has plagued our environment since its creation. The Food Water Watch states that, Rather than being recycled, about 75 percent of the empty plastic bottles end up in our landfills, lakes, streams and oceans, where they may never fully decompose . This means that there are millions of bottles left in landfills; which contribute to the already harmful greenhouse gases in our

The Pan African Significance Of The Obama Administration The Pan African significance of the Obama administration, Obama the offspring of a Kenyan engulfed in a bi racial reality (thus rendering him sensitive to multiculturalism) who fulfills the dream of an oppressed people, has been the perceived unification of both the African continent and the diaspora. However, the term Pan Africanismcomes to stir strong feedback because there is no consensual agreement on what it is. W.E.B. DuBois, in the 1930s, defined Pan Africanism as a movement aimed at an intellectual understanding and cooperation among all groups of African descent in order to bring about the industrial and spiritual emancipation of the Negro people. Other definitions have come in the form of self government by African countries south of the Sahara, the economic, social, and cultural development of the continent, the avoidance of conflict among African states, the promotion of African unity and influence in world affairs, and a personal favorite, a struggle in which Africans and others of African blood have been engaged since their contact with modern Europe. Although none of these definitions are entirely accurate they, together, frame my understanding of Pan Africanism as a political movement and philosophical tradition founded on African pride, a consciousness of the past, and a desired unification of continental Africans and all who identify with the diaspora; seeing Africa(and its descendents) as one body even in the presence of differing people,

This invited more men to travel from England by themselves, which decreased the number of women. The ratio of men to women was 7:1. Even after treatment, however, necrotizing fasciitis mortality has been estimated to range from 24% 60% (10). In S. pyogenes associated necrotizing fasciitis, the bacteria first invade host fascia before spreading and causing more invasive damage. Initial GAS invasion can occur through three primary pathways: 1) preceding superficial infection; 2) direct inoculation; or 3) hematogenous seeding from a previous injury site. After colonization, GAS spread through the typically sterile fascial planes that separate muscle groups, which are only loosely held together by connective tissue. The streptococci then release several proteases and other virulence factors that cause localized tissue damage. Simultaneously, this dissemination prompts the arrival of acute inflammatory host cells; the response of polymorphouclear leukocytes (PMNs), in particular, can also contribute to the tissue damage characteristic of necrotizing fasciitis. If you send your child to a private school, it means that you are playing a role in ruining one of the essential institutions. The central assumption behind this strong opinion and understanding is that, if all parents started sending their children off to public schools, public education as an entire institution would improve more than we can even imagine at the moment. This article was published on August 29th 2013 at 5:50pm, on slates website. This article is mainly talking about her emotions and how she feels about the whole situation. Allison Benedikt begins her article by developing her credibility with personal experiences citing convincing facts. In her manifesto Benedict rants about the differences between public and private schools showing the effects with a blunt rant. In her article Benedikt first starts by appealing optimistic emotions to the audience when she said send your kids to public school even if you can afford private . Future generations will thank you . What the author means by this is by sending your kids to public schools it would get better; this change however is apparently not going to take place over time. It would require many generations to happen and thus a lot of time. This also means that during the time until this desired change occurs, the generations in between will have to suffer by receiving an ordinary or average education. This might seem like a very long time. It might also seem

Literature Review Of Literature On Online Shopping CHAPTER 2 Literature Review 2.1 Introduction Online shopping is a new dimension of trade that emerged as a result of the overbearing usefulness of the internet as an information dissemination platform. Its remarkable growth has attracted numerous comments of researchers. This is evidenced by the number of publications on this theme in the recent time. Nevertheless, while the behaviour of online shoppers has dominated in the literature, little attention has been paid to their level of satisfaction and general experience in shopping online. Online shopping is actually an offshoot of e commerce whereby consumers directly buy goods or services from a seller in real time, without an intermediary service, over the internet. The non consumer s primary motivation was to save time, money, and hassles associated with in store shopping. Online shoppers sought to solve these issues by utilizing the Internet. Convenience has been noted as positively influencing online purchasing behavior as it eliminated the necessity of having to travel to one or more stores. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5; American Psychiatric Association, 2013) mentions that children with ADHD may be susceptible to cognitive difficulties. Research has shown that children who presented problems related to cognition tended to show a greater benefit from engaging in private speech than those who did not have such difficulties when completing tasks (Aro et al., 2015), providing a possible explanation for why those with ADHD are likely to use more private speech. Given the inattentive aspect of ADHD, research suggests that children with ADHD are likely to use more private speech than their peers because engaging in private speech is helpful for children when trying to focus their attention to a task (Aro et al., 2015; Patrick Abravanel, 2000). Also related to issues with attention, Berk Potts (1991) have found in their research that children with ADHD tend to engage in more forms of private speech that are meant to help guide themselves through the activity and mediate their behavior while working on a task. The Ethics Of The Ethical Systems The Ethical Systems In ethics, four systems serve as different beliefs concerning our morals: Relativism Ethics, Consequentialism Ethics, Deontological Ethics, and Virtue Ethics. These four theories attempt to define what right and wrong should be and how one should handle any situation. There are many strengths and weaknesses of each view. The goal is to determine which theory is the best by exploring real world situations and questioning the claims that just don t work out. RELATIVISM ETHICS There are two different types of relativistic views: Cultural Relativism and Subjectivism. Cultural Relativism is the belief that culture defines what is right and wrong. Subjectivism is the belief that the individual person decides what is right and wrong. Many pros and cons exist with an overall relativistic view. First, the positive: Someone with this view will obviously be very tolerant and is not likely to discriminate against a different culture or person. Also, morality depends on a social experience, instead of being derived from a higher being, morality is derived from the surrounding people. It is good to know the diversity and experience the many aspects of the world. Although this might sound like a perfect world for everyone to be tolerant and understanding of one another, there are many flaws to this theory. One flaw is that with this way of thinking, justice cannot exist. If someone committed murder, they cannot be punished because they believe murder is right, which
