Michael D. Schneickert supports various philanthropic organizations including the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, California. The Armory offers field trips for kindergarten through high school students to view exhibitions and develop an appreciation for art through guided activities and opportunities to create art themselves. In the first half of 2015, the Armory will offer field trips for exhibitions on mysticism and contemporary art showcasing the work of over 10 artists.

The Central European Stuckists are a group of 5 painters and 2 sculptors based in Prague, Czech Republic who have been inspired by the London Stuckists movement founded in 1999. They are trying to bring attention to the preference of conceptual art over representational art in galleries and cultural institutions by building a traveling gallery requiring 40,000 Euro in funding. They believe their humble team is well-suited to make a change in the art world and promote more permanent cultural values over the transience of conceptual art.
Falk Meets Online Motivation: A Nationwide Survey Project
In this lightning talk we present a nationwide online Visitor Motivation Study conducted across two dozen institutional websites in 2015/16.
Based on research by John Falk, we used his predictive model of visitor experience outlined in the book as the framework for our survey. In Falk's book "Identity and the Museum Visitor Experience," he identifies five key types of visitors who attend museums and the internal motivations that drive repeat visitation: Experience Seeker; Explorer; Socializer; Recharger; Hobbyist / Professional.
The technical implementation is similar to the one used in a website visitor motivation survey by the Indianapolis Museum of Art. That survey was presented at MW in 2012.
Our project includes simultaneous surveys on 24 museum websites, pairing an IMA-style Google Analytics-powered backend with segments adapted from Falk’s motivation framework. Since the IMA’s presentation at MW 2012, studies following IMA’s methodology have been reproduced at various institutions. Our work is distinct in that it looks at the data in aggregate. Seeking to identify patterns or trends across the sector, we hope to understand the similarities and differences in our audience segments by region, population density, etc, and test Falk’s research as it applies to online audiences.

The Eighth Annual Slovak Fashion Night event will be held on May 10th, 2013 in Manhattan and feature fashion from Slovakian, Czech, and Austrian designers. The event is a collaboration between the +421 Foundation, Consulate General of Slovakia in New York, Austrian Cultural Forum, and Czech Center New York. The evening will include a fashion show featuring the works of designers from each country, musical performances, cocktails, and an after party DJ. Proceeds will support the educational programs of the +421 Foundation in promoting cultural exchange between artists in Central Europe and the United States.

She holds an MA in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in History from the College of William and Mary. The Commission advises the President, Congress and government agencies on national matters of design and aesthetics. Fernández is the first CINTAS Fellow to serve on the Commission. She has received many honors throughout her career including a MacArthur Fellowship and has had solo exhibitions at major museums nationally and internationally.

Giverny is a commune located in northern France that is best known as the home and subject of many impressionist paintings by Claude Monet. Monet lived and worked in Giverny from 1883 until his death in 1926, cultivating his famous gardens and painting scenes of his property and the surrounding landscape. Key attractions in Giverny today include Monet's house and gardens, now a museum, as well as the Musée des Impressionismes Giverny which displays impressionist works. Grapes and wine production remain an important part of the local economy.

Miami, April 1, 2015 – The Miami Dade College (MDC) Museum of Art + Design and the CINTAS Foundation have announced the ongoing 2015-2016 CINTAS Knight Foundation Award in Visual Arts.
All submission materials must be received by Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
Marking its 51st year, the one-of-a-kind competition serves as a platform to promote and support visual artists, writers, architects and composers of Cuban descent from across the globe. The Collection has grown to be one of the largest bodies of Cuban art outside of Cuba and continues to grow each year with each new fellow.
“CINTAS Fellows are found represented in all major museums, as well as in important private and corporate collections throughout the world,” said CINTAS Foundation Board President Hortensia E. Sampedro.
In addition to supporting Cuban artists, many early in their careers, the CINTAS Foundation also maintains a growing collection of works by past awardees and other esteemed Cuban artists.
Past Visual Arts Fellows include:
Guillermo Calzadilla, in collaboration with the artist Jennifer Allora, produce community collaborations, instllatins, photograpy and sculptural work. Allora and Calzadilla represented the United States in the 2011 venice Biennale.
Carmen Herrera was one of Cuba’s first abstract painters. Herrera has exhibited widely in various solo and group shows, including the Outside Cuba exhibition. Herrera's pieces are in many museums and collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York; the Tate Modern in London; the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis; the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.; El Museo del Barrio in New York; and Havana's Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. She is the winner of a Creative Artists Public Service Award (CAPS) in New York.
The late Félix Gonzáles Torres represented the USA in the 52nd Venice Biennale. He also had solo exhibitions at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York; the Brooklyn Museum; the Museum of Modern Art in New York; the Museum in Progress in Vienna; the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles; the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.; and the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
The late Carlos Alfonso was represented in the Outside Cuba exhibition and the Cuba-USA: The First Generation traveling exhibition. He has also been the subject of several solo exhibitions in institutions such as the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art in North Carolina, the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach and the Hal Bromm Gallery in New York.

Svenson portfolio
David Svenson has been incorporating neon into his artwork since the 1980s, using glass and neon as the dominant material or to add subtle colored light to carved wood sculptures. He was inspired by the neon signs of Route 66 in his youth in Southern California and later witnessed the Northern Lights in Alaska while studying Tlingit art. In addition to his studio work, David teaches at the Academy of Art University and has taught internationally, and occasionally collaborates with Alaska Native totem carvers. This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.

The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.

Armory Center for the Arts Field Trip Program
- 2. Michael D. Schneickert has supported various philanthropic organizations across many sectors over the course of his life, including groups which allow the arts to flourish. One organization that enjoys the support of Michael D. Schneickert is Pasadena, California’s Armory Center for the Arts, which offers events and exhibitions. One of the major programs Armory offers is field trips for kindergarten-through-high school students, allowing them to take advantage of the opportunities to develop an appreciation or art.
- 3. Armory tour guides conduct group activities and introduce children to artistic concepts and themes. Field trips usually end with an opportunity to create something similar to the art shown in the exhibition, such as a sculpture or a painting. During the first half of 2015, the Armory will offer field trips for exhibitions dealing with topics like mysticism and contemporary art, with the work of more than 10 artists on display for students on the trips to learn about and enjoy.
