El Museo del Barrio is reflecting on its many accomplishments as the New Year approaches. It is the first Latino and Latin American museum of art in the United States. It was also the first to institutionalize bilingual arts education, organize biennial exhibitions promoting Latino artists, and institute annual retrospectives by women artists. El Museo del Barrio introduced the first Spanish language program for individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia and formalized philosophy for children through museum education. The executive director is asking for continued support to keep delivering new perspectives on art and culture through its exhibitions.
