Autobiography Of Maya Angelou
Maya Angelou Autobiography
American author Maya Angelou once said, I ve learned that people will forget what you said, people
will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel. Over the course of her
life, Angelou has written almost a dozen books as well as countless poems. Most notably is her
autobiography I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings about the struggles she faced during her
adolescence. Angelou s story, although heartbreaking at times, is one of strength and perseverance.
Maya Angelou used her literary talent to transform her hardships into a message of hope and inspired
others to do the same. Maya Angelou, born Marguerite Ann Johnson, was born April 28th in St. Louis,
Missouri. She was the daughter of Bailey Johnson, a doorman, and Vivian Johnson, a nurse. Angelou
and her older brother, Baileyv Jr., grew up with their grandmother in rural Stamps, Arkansas (source
1). Angelou and her brother spent four years in their grandmother s care. Although Angelou and her
brother thrived there, their father decided to send them back to live with their mother and her
boyfriend in California. As for education, Angelou attended public schools in both Arkansas and
California. ((source 1). Angelou went on to study dance and theater at the California Labor School but
eventually dropped out to become the first female African American streetcar conductor. (source 11).
Being a young black woman in the mid 1900s, Angelou faced countless person struggles.
Unfortunately, her trouble did not end with race, At the age of eight, Angelou was raped by her mother
s boyfriend, Mr. Freeman. Angelou confided in her brother Bailey and he, in turn, told the proper
authorities. Angelou testified against Mr. Freeman in court. He was found guilty but ultimately stayed
in jail only for a night. The next day, Mr. Freeman was found beaten to death, likely by Angelou s
uncles. After this incident, young Angelou did not speak for almost five years, She believed her words
could kill (source 2). Angelou did not literally kill Mr. Freeman by her testimony, but her words
definitely had an effect on others. One can see from an early age that Angelou understood the power
of words. Perhaps this was foreshadowing her

Cities and states can receive federal money for airport construction, sewage treatment plants, youth

Personality Big Five Model Solved Case
TEAM ASSIGNMENT #1: Case Study Astral Marketing 42.211 B
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The main problem Astral Marketing is experiencing is a low level of
productivity, mainly due to employee dissatisfaction and low levels of employee motivation.
Employees are currently unhappy with wages and incentives, as well as general working conditions at
the company. As a result, employees are becoming unmotivated. Issues such as poor communication
skills, lack of employee empowerment, high turnover, and too low or too high mental stimulation also
have a direct impact on the low level of productivity (Robbins Langton 2001) The four potential
solutions to Astral Marketing s low productivity include: the formation of a union, team building
training, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Procedural justice the perceived fairness of the process used to determine the distribution of rewards is
also defied by the company (Robbins Langton 2001, p. 170). Company records show only one or two
workers per week (have gotten) the $20 bonus over the past six months (Schweitzer, p.3). The concept
of procedural justice is also challenged through inequitable contract distribution (assuming it can be
regulated) at the company. Since the contracts are of broad range, some contracts are more difficult to
promote than others are, and the set wages and bonuses do not reflect this inequality (Schweitzer
2002). Another issue is poor communication skills, which result in both a lack of respect for
supervisors and a poor level of colleague support. Having friendly and supportive co workers leads to
increased job satisfaction , similar to the behaviour of one s manager (Robbins Langton 2001, p.108).
The employees at Astral Marketing, however, have poor relations with their supervisors, likely
because the supervisors are not trained on how to deal with workers as people (Schweitzer 2002, p.1).
There are also poor relations between employees due to a lack of support and understanding
(Schweitzer 2002). Poor communication skills also contribute to the lack of employee empowerment
at Astral Marketing. Empowerment, or giving employees responsibility for what

The Status Of A Woman Essay
I d like to start my Essay with famous quote of Virgina Woolf, which goes as, Women have served all
these centuries as looking glasses possessing the magic and delicious power of reflecting the figure of
man at twice it s natural Size The topic that I ve chosen for my essay is The Status of A Woman in
South Indian or specifically Malayalam Cinema. The first question the arises in my mind while
watching any Malayalam movie is why does the nationally and internationally acclaimed Malayalam
or for that matter any South Indian Cinema fail to represent women s experiences, Why are The
Female leads just subjected to basic chores, or as an object of desire? Me being a Woman find it very
disturbing to see woman being labelled in the same umbrella. Indian cinema has always been under
the line of fire for its potrayal of women as objects of desire. Be it in the case of Mandakini, Parveen
Babi or the current crop of actresses. From Sheila Ki Jawaani to Munni ki Badnaami , its usually
women who are utilized as objects of desire and sexual objects. The situation is no different in Indian
culture where In reality the birth of a girl child is frowned and looked down upon with disrespect in
some parts of India and shockingly even among elite and educated Indians, whereas the Birth of a boy
is celebrated. Indian Cinema as a whole is the biggest culprit here as the reach and impact by
Commercial films is the most and it is very disheartening that such an industry still uses or turns

Chemistry Cake Testing Lab Report
Chemistry Baking Project Factorial Experiment 9/25/17
Nick Arana, Joey Hensel Arana, Hensel Chemistry G
Objective:
The purpose of this experiment is to further comprehend the chemistry of baking a cake through
research and experimentation.
Background:
It may be surprising; however, the process of baking a cake involves a sufficient amount of chemistry.
A physical property is a property that can be observed or measured without changing the composition
of matter. For example, the color of the cake does not affect the volume, texture, or flavor of the cake;
it only affects the appearance of it. Color is a physical property of the cake. On the other hand, a
chemical property is a property or behavior of a substance when it undergoes a chemical change or
reaction. For example, a chemical property of the cake would be that the cake can burn, spoil, or be
digested. Everything added to the cake batter affects the texture of it. For example, without the flour,
the cake batter would be close to a liquid, but by adding the flour it gives the cake more volume and it
changes the texture. A chemical reaction/change is any change that results in the formation of new
chemical substances. When the cake batter bakes and turns into cake, this is a chemical change. In a
physical reaction/change, the molecules rearrange, but it does not affect their internal structures (no
new substance is formed). When eggs are whipped, it is a physical change or

Examples Of Courage In Shrek
In the film, Shrek directed by Andrew Adamson Vicky Jenson. The main theme of courage was
recurrent throughout the film, however the first time it was shown was when Shrek accepts Lord
Farquaads quest. Another example is when the three characters have successfully crossed the rocky
bridge and Shrek must reveal his face to Fiona and confess that he is an ogre, not the handsome prince
Fiona was hoping for. Additionally, Shrek shows courage when he bursts into the church in the last
few scenes, proclaiming his love for Fiona. Courage is a significant theme in the film Shrek because
Shrek is taking risks every minute, whether it s opening up to new people or attempting something
unorthodox.
An element of courage illustrated in Shrek is when Shrek accepts Lord Farquaad s quest to rescue
princess Fiona from the treacherous tower, guarded by a female dragon (that takes a romantic shine to
Donkey), surrounded by lava and where many previous knights have attempted to capture the
Princess. Donkey and Shrek travel to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A film technique that emphasized this was the over the shoulder shot of Fiona when Fiona rowed with
Shrek, giving the effect that we were a part of the conversation. During this scene, Shrek confessed his
love for Fiona by shakily uttering, I know about true love because I...well...lov. Love...you Courage in
this scene is displayed by Shrek as he shows immense bravery, bursting into the church in front of the
whole city and armed knights. The importance for year nines to understand courage is an important
life of anyone s lifestyle because of the challenges students are faced with every day, whether it s
talking to new people or disagreeing with someone. When these students have to face the harsh reality
of our real world, they lose all this courage they ve worked up, turning them back into closeted

Shortcomings And Weaknesses Of The Mazars Report
What are the shortcomings/weaknesses that you are seeing in integrated reporting in general
(including the Mazars Report)?
From the Mazars Report, there is some shortcoming of integrated reporting (IR) but these shortcoming
are potential to be improved to be a better one as IR is a process of continuation and improvement of
current reporting approaches. Following are the shortcomings of IR from the Mazars Report:
Risk and opportunities can be identified and explained, however, it is lack of details in analysis and
mitigation measures.
In the event that vital goals are frequently all around portrayed in various time scales, the connection
with resources allocation could be better in the IR.
The integrated performance indicators is weak in term of publication.
Complexity and lack of clarity has pointed out by Welch (2013), Associated of Chartered Certified

complexity and increase clarity; however, it might distort the objective of IR while a set of non

The Ethics And Morals Of Abortion Essay
The Ethics and Morals of Abortion Abortion, as it is, is a method to terminate a pregnancy by
removing a fetus or an embryo out of the woman s uterus. It is one of the most controversial
problematic issues that is discussed throughout the decades. The topic of abortion was considered as a
social issue that soon became a political and ethical subject. Abortion have become a heated public
distribute on whether its method are morally permissible or not? Individuals have voiced the benefits
and disadvantages of abortion. The extremists of preserving life also known as pro life position
believes that banning abortion in all circumstances is the right thing to do. On the other hand, the
extreme advocates of free choice or pro choice believes that the law should not restrict a woman from
making her own decisions. In the contemporary society, each lives are important; however, women

Constantine s Edict Of Milan
Throughout history there have been moments that define the rest of time. Turning points or critical
moments in which one decision or creation forever changed the path of history. Such moments as
Constantine s Edict of Milan, Gutenberg s development of the printing press, and Martin Luther s
Ninety five Theses forever changed the landscape of Western Civilization. Who knows where Western
Civilization would be without these great hinges of history.
In 313 CE, Constantine passed the Edict of Milan. This edict declared the freedom of everyone in the
Roman Empire to choose their own religion. He neither made polytheism illegal nor did he make
Christianity the official religion of Rome. Instead, to placate both pagans and Christians, both were
acceptable to be practiced. This edict also stated that the emperor was protected by the highest
divinity, whether that was God, Jupiter or any other god in the Roman pantheon. Constantine
continued his work to bring pagans and Christians into peaceful coexistence. He gave the Christians
their property confiscated during Diocletian s Great Persecution, but he had the Roman treasury
reimburse the people who had bought the stolen goods. He also declared the Lord s Day to be called
Sunday in honor of the day the Christian s God rested and in honor of the sun, an aspect of pagan
worship. He even kept the traditional title of Pontifex Maximus or chief priest. After decades of
persecution the Christians finally had an emperor on their

Ireland Is An Island Surrounded By The Celtic Sea And The...
Ireland is an island surrounded by the Celtic Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Mountain ranges cover a vast
majority of its geographical structures. Central Ireland is predominantly flat and its ground is most
filled with clay and sand. The climate of Ireland has a lot to do with it being surrounded by water; it
stays usually about 50 degrees year around, having mild winters and cool summers. Ireland has long
been a country of tradition and held on to traditional values for very long, even when other countries
should change. Even today, many Irish homes still follow some of the traditional values which some
argue to be the values of an individual with a well rounded life. But this does not mean that the entire
country employs these values. In fact, the role of the family has changed significantly in the last
couple of decades. In many traditional Irish families, food and family life were closely linked.
Traditionally one parent (Mostly the female/mother) would stay at home to take care of the family and
look after the home duties such as cooking, cleaning etc. Nowadays this division of work (especially
at home) has shifted slightly towards a more modern perspective. Over the years it became more
regular for both parents or females in general to be actively employed during the week. (ASK, 2016)
This shifted may have changed some parts of the traditional values and gender roles but according to a
recent study by the European movement Ireland, the country still has a long way to

(Nishadha, 2015) Both definitions are attempting to pass on the same message, it may appear to be
inverse in light of the fact that the first definition is discussing the shortest duration whilst the second
definition is discussing the longest way. Notwithstanding, they are both the same. In this project, the
critical path is the A + B + C + G + I + J = 3 + 4 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 16 days which consists the activities
of pouring the foundation which takes 3 days; building the frame takes 4 days as well as placing the
roof; setting the rough in frame takes 2 days as well as painting the garage; and clean up takes 1 day.
To sum up, the duration of the project would take 16 working days, which means that there will be a
deduction of $100 from the $500 bonus due to the one day extra work. Having 3 days of delay in
electrical can affect the whole project. Therefore, the negotiation of 15 working days would exceed up
to 18 days, which could cause the penalty of $300 ($100 per extra day). In order to minimise a project
s critical path, sequencing of tasks should be changed. On the off chance that one can do a project s
tasks in alternate grouping to that initially proposed, one might have the capacity to shorten the critical
path. A level of intricacy by striving for shortening the critical path, which is primarily hazardous, is
unavoidably acquainted with the task. (Aydar, 2014) With a specific end goal to convey this shorter
timescale, the critical path should be controlled

The Girl with The Silver Eyes
Hard boiled detective fiction sets the scene for a cold and harsh reality. Dashiell Hammett s, The Girl
with The Silver Eyes is no exception to this rule. In this short story Hammett paints a picture of a
brutally realistic urban center filled with characters that not many people would want to call friends.
The realistic qualities of Hammett s story are drawn from his own life s experience working as a
Pinkerton detective. The detective in The Girl With The Silver Eyes works for the Continental

Propaganda s Influence On Napoleon Bonaparte
Napoleon Bonaparte was the greatest eighteenth century French master of propaganda is beyond
dispute (ch. 2, p.1). Napoleon created for himself the image of the Revolutionary hero through
conscious manipulation of dispatches, correspondence, medallions, and especially, of the press (Intro,
p.2). Napoleon s strategic use of propaganda rocketed him by his growth in popular press. Napoleon
enlisted the help of propaganda to be a in a sense, his own squad of cheerleaders. Napoleon cleverly
marketed himself to showcase his superb abilities through art, bulletins, medallions, newspapers and
trinkets.
Remarkably, Bonaparte learned how important propaganda was very early during his political
ascension. He knew he needed a way to project himself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1). A type of propaganda used to persuade the masses was newspaper. Bonaparte had different
propaganda newspapers, journals, bulletins for different countries but yet all propaganda still
effectively praising and promoting Bonaparte. Propaganda for the Egyptian Army was Journal de
Malte, the Courier de l Egypte, and La Décade Égyptienne. Bonaparte began experimenting with a
new propaganda tool the Parisian Journal de Bonaparte et des hommes vertueux after he was captured.
The Journal was a blatant purpose the promotion of Napoleon Bonaparte but also because its title
could be seen as a challenge to the moral character of the government itself (ch. 3, p.2). Newspapers,
journals and bulletins were used for encouragement to Bonaparte s military but he also addressed them
to the public as well as naysayers. Another type of propaganda that Bonaparte used was Art. Early in
his career, for example, hye fostered relationships with several scholars and with artists who promoted
his reputation, not only as a victorious general but also as a man of culture and intellect (ch 4., p. 1).
Art propaganda was extremely influential in Bonaparte s reputation. In projecting himself in an
intellectual light, Bonaparte was able to win over leading intellectuals and influential political thinkers
of France known as the Ideologues (ch. 4,

The Moon Compare To The Moons Of Other Planets
Project 1: How Does the Moon Compare to the Moons of Other Planets
Earth s moon did not always exist. According to a theory known as the Big Whack, a roving planetoid,
Theia, and the ancient Earth were on the same plane in the solar system. Theia, which is believed to
have been at least the size of Mars, collided with the ancient Earth approximately 4.5 billion years
ago. The resulting debris, material from the ancient Earth s mantle, is what is said to have formed our
current day moon. All of the debris broke off of the ancient Earth and proceeded to fill the air. All of
this debris then eventually congealed and formed a solid moon.
When making a comparison between our moon and those of other planets it is interesting to view the
number of moons each planet has, their size, and their proportion of mass as compared to the planet.
Within the terrestrial planets, Mercury and Venus do not have moons, Earth has one moon, and Mars
has two. Earth has only one moon and this moon is only 1.2% of the mass of Earth. Mars has two
moons and they are 0.00002% of the mass of the planet. The Jovian planets have a much larger
number of moons. Jupiter has sixty seven, Saturn has fifty three, Uranus has twenty seven, and
Neptune has thirteen. Jupiter s many moons are 0.013% of the mass of the planet as a whole. Saturn s
moon are 0.04% of the planet s mass. Uranus moons comprise 0.01% of the mass of the planet.
Finally, Neptune s moons make up 0.02% of the planet s

Internet Gambling
Running head: CASE STUDY IV: INTERNET GAMBLING
CASE STUDY IV:
Internet Gambling
May 6, 2006
This document will inform you about the history of internet gambling, the existing issues, and a
number of concerns involved with online gambling. Prior to the launching of the World Wide Web in
1993 which changed the setting of gambling, people had to travel great distances to gamble. The
world s first virtual online casino, Internet Casinos, Inc. (ICI) commenced operation on August 18,
1995 with 18 different casino games. Most of these online gambling companies are located outside of
the U.S. to avoid government prosecution. ICI operates out of the Turks and Caicos Islands (Kish,
1999). One of the main reasons internet gambling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This so far seems to be the best solution, however ethical and moral dilemmas still rest in the hands of
our lawmakers today. The next issue facing internet gambling is taxes. This seems to be the
government s biggest issue. This is because of the billions of dollars we mentioned for profit by these
online sites, government can gain significant amount of money from it. The legalization of Internet
gambling may cause states to lose some revenue generated from legalized gambling operations
because many gamblers would spend their money online (Lassani, 1998). Moreover, states lose
revenue by not being able to tax gamblers who win over the Internet. Gamblers who win over the
Internet have an incentive not to pay taxes on their winnings because the Internal Revenue Service
(IRS) lacks the resources to track online gamblers (Lassani, 1998).
The likelihood of addiction to Internet gambling among both children and adults is an extremely
important concern. In relation to addiction, children are more likely to become addicted to something
new than adults (Smith, 2004). For example, the video game like nature of virtual casinos, labeled the
crack cocaine of gambling, could make online gambling a temptation difficult to resist. Furthermore,
the fact that the Internet gambler need not leave the comfort and privacy of his or her home could
mean that an individual might become easily addicted. This is the worst

The Natural Environment And The Human Race
Humans have been intervening in nature for the past 200 milleniums. The natural environment and the
human race have evolved together side by side. However, throughout the past few centuries, many
ethical questions have been brought up regarding how the human race interacts with nature. As our
factories and civilizations increase and expand, so does our footprint. One fairly recent ethical concern
is the act of hunting. Hunting has been a staple in the evolution of the human race. The harvesting of
animals has provided humans with many valuable resources necessary to survive. Alice Walker, Aldo
Leopold, and many other professionals have studied, researched, and written about their views and
findings on this matter. Once all of the information has been examined and digested, one can come to
a conclusion that is held by hunters and conservationists alike. Hunting is in fact a human intrusion on
nature that poses many ethical concerns and among these are hunting for necessity, population control,
and sport/prosperity; however, if hunting is done in a principled and legal manner, the act is inherently
just.
Alice Walker speaks of how the Native Americans treated animals like humans and only killed when it
was necessary for their survival. The European immigrants and their descendants have inherited an
extremely bad reputation as being unethical hunters. One Native American group is quoted by Alice
Walker saying, The whites did not kill them to eat; they killed them for the metal

The Cheyenne Tribes Of The Native American Indians
The Cheyenne was one of the most famous tribes of the Native American Indians. They lived on the
Great Plains in what is now South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas. During the
1800 s, the U.S. government forced the Cheyennes to move to Oklahoma. Today, there are two
Cheyenne tribes. The Southern Cheyenne live in Oklahoma while the Northern Cheyenne settle in
Montana.
The Cheyenne had an interesting culture and way of life. Boys were taught how to hunt, fish, and fight
from their fathers. Girls learned how to cook, clean, and do chores around the house. Also, the
children went to school and played with dolls, toys, and games. For example, the Cheyenne kids
enjoyed playing the hoop game and lacrosse. A Cheyenne woman was responsible for building her
family s house. She dragged heavy posts with her whenever the tribe moved. Later on, the Cheyenne
Indians killed buffalo so they could use buffalo hide to make teepees. They lived in teepees because it
was easy to set up and take down. As a result of moving frequently, a teepee allowed the Cheyenne
tribe to move within an hour. The Cheyenne women harvested corn, squash, and beans while the men
hunted deer and buffalo. Also, they ate fish, fruit, and berries. For clothing, the Cheyenne women
wore long deerskin dresses that were decorated with porcupine quills, shells, and elk teeth. Cheyenne
men wore breechcloths with leather leggings in colder climates. Men wore moccasins while the
women wore high fringed boots. Chief leaders had tall feather headdresses and long warbonnets. The
hair style for men was long braids with a topknot and women wore their hair loose or braided. The
Cheyennes painted their faces for war, religious ceremonies, and feasts. Lastly, the Cheyenne people
were very religious. They performed an elaborate Sun Dance, smoked peace pipes, built ceremonial
houses, and four arrows represented their sacred object.
The tribal government of the Cheyenne Indians was called the Council of Forty Four. It was formed
by ten bands of the tribe. The council was made up of four chiefs from each band as well as four Old
Man chiefs. Each chief served a ten year term. Every summer, the Council of Forty Four made

Neil Postman Essay
Throughout the span of the past few weeks I have traversed the globe, visiting several countries and
regions, only to realize that although new methods develop, language as a way of expressing ones self
has remained the most effective. Despite this fact, language still has its pitfalls. Neil Postman, in his
essay amp;#8220;Defending Against the Indefensible, ; outlines seven concepts that can be used to aid
a student in better understanding the language as a means of communication. He describes how
modern teaching methods leave a student vulnerable to the amp;#8220;prejudices of their elders ;,
further stating that a good teacher must always be skeptical. He urges teachers of all subjects to break
free from traditional teachings as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How you phrase a question makes all the difference in the world. A query asked in two separate ways
can result in two completely different answers. amp;#8220;A question is the most important tool we
have ; states Postman. Take scientists for example. Their entire career is based on asking questions,
stating a hypothesis, and furthermore, answering them by conducting experiments.
Postman calls for the art of question asking to be infused with the current school curriculum, because
to often students do not ask questions. When a student arrives at school on the first day they often
notice many changes. Although welcome, these changes sometimes make a student wonder why he or
she was not asked if they would prefer them. This is the perfect example of how one phrases a
question wrong. Although a student might voice their opinion by saying, amp;#8220;I would like a
better school ; they don amp;#8217;t imply in which way they would like to achieve that.
Although it was a noteworthy concept, I found it to have many flaws. Postman believes that this
concept be put on high priority. He never examines how teachers are to teach this radical way of
thinking. There are other factors in a student amp;#8217;s high school career, and his ideas are not the
only ones that need to be considered.
Yet again I find that Postman amp;#8217;s third concept is

Difficulties In Teaching Pronunciation
Most of English teachers tend to teach their non native students grammar rules and vocabulary, get
them to participate in communicative activities and become qualified in reading and listening. As a
result, teaching pronunciation is not taken into account due to teachers assumption of having a lot to
do rather than focusing on proper pronunciation. Apparently, they claim that students will acquire it
throughout learning. Therefore, there is no need to allocate time for teaching pronunciation.
Accordingly, ESL learners encounter many difficulties in proper pronunciation.
First, we can distinguish between accents and dialect . The former refers to the differences only in
pronunciation that may occur due to geographical differences, social and cultural differences, and
different educational background. The latter indicates the variety of a language, which differs in things
other than pronunciation such as vocabulary, grammar, and word order. We can spot some of the
factors that affect the pronunciation of ESL learners especially Arabs. Accordingly, the interference of
the learners native language and the learner s age can determine the accuracy of his pronunciation; the
younger is he the easier he will master good pronunciation. Further, the amount of exposure to English
exceeds the ability to speak native like English, especially if the learner is living in an English
speaking environment.
From my personal experience, when I was an Arab ESL language learner, my friends

Film Analysis Of Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
As one of the most monumental anniversaries of all time approaches, it is only right that we revisit the
work of one of the most inspirational people of all time. Obviously, this means William Shakespeare,
right? Not quite. Although Shakespeare to some is the godfather of literature, he can also be seen as
the godfather of boredom. That is why it has been decided to review a different type of Shakespearean
play. 400 years ago marks the death of William Shakespeare, and while his worth is still regarded
among older generations, it does not have quite the same effect on the younger. That is until Baz
Luhrmann graced the silver screens with his youthful and lively interpretation of Romeo and Juliet.
The 1996 version set in a modern day America has enraptured and educated a whole new generation
of young people for the past 21 years and promises to continue to stand the test of time. So what
makes Romeo + Juliet so good?
For anyone that has seen this film, it goes without saying that what Baz Luhrmann has created is
stunningly beautiful. With elements such as music, sound and editing, not to mention the mis en scene
that shapes the film and the actors performance to corroborate it, this is not just any ordinary movie.
Romeo + Juliet has the opportunity to transform and take viewers to another world right from the
moment they press play.
From the very beginning the film presents itself as a visual and audio feast your senses. As the
opening scenes take place, director Baz

A Window Of Your Dreams
A Window To Your Dreams
In J.M. Barrie s classic children s story Peter Pan, a young boy named Peter takes three children on the
adventure of their dreams in a faraway place called Neverland. The story, revolving around how all
children, except one, grow up (1) takes the reader back to mindsets of children and their elaborate
fantasies that might actually be true if they could only remember. With sword fights between pirates,
fairy dust, flying away from home right out the window and death being only an awfully big
adventure (113), not many can see how they would ever forget such a place, but by keeping their
windows open and unlocked, any child can enter Neverland through their dreams. Barrie s use of the
window isn t simply an entrance or exit way for Peter, it represents the blurred line between a child s
dreams and reality, how the trust of a mother s love can be the best form of hope, and how every child
should cherish their years of youth and innocence when they can fly to Neverland and not be brought
down by age.
According to Barrie s Peter Pan, every child s mind flies into their own personal Neverland at night,
and sometimes, the lands can be breached when a window is open. Children have a way to keep this
window open for the possibility of their dreams to come true, while adult s windows are kept shut due
to age and therefore, losing the ability to travel to their Neverland. Every child s mind has access to a
map consisting of zigzag lines...probably roads in

Autobiography Of MayaAngelou Maya Angelou Autobiography American author Maya Angelou once said, I ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel. Over the course of her life, Angelou has written almost a dozen books as well as countless poems. Most notably is her autobiography I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings about the struggles she faced during her adolescence. Angelou s story, although heartbreaking at times, is one of strength and perseverance. Maya Angelou used her literary talent to transform her hardships into a message of hope and inspired others to do the same. Maya Angelou, born Marguerite Ann Johnson, was born April 28th in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of Bailey Johnson, a doorman, and Vivian Johnson, a nurse. Angelou and her older brother, Baileyv Jr., grew up with their grandmother in rural Stamps, Arkansas (source 1). Angelou and her brother spent four years in their grandmother s care. Although Angelou and her brother thrived there, their father decided to send them back to live with their mother and her boyfriend in California. As for education, Angelou attended public schools in both Arkansas and California. ((source 1). Angelou went on to study dance and theater at the California Labor School but eventually dropped out to become the first female African American streetcar conductor. (source 11). Being a young black woman in the mid 1900s, Angelou faced countless person struggles. Unfortunately, her trouble did not end with race, At the age of eight, Angelou was raped by her mother s boyfriend, Mr. Freeman. Angelou confided in her brother Bailey and he, in turn, told the proper authorities. Angelou testified against Mr. Freeman in court. He was found guilty but ultimately stayed in jail only for a night. The next day, Mr. Freeman was found beaten to death, likely by Angelou s uncles. After this incident, young Angelou did not speak for almost five years, She believed her words could kill (source 2). Angelou did not literally kill Mr. Freeman by her testimony, but her words definitely had an effect on others. One can see from an early age that Angelou understood the power of words. Perhaps this was foreshadowing her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Employees are currently unhappy with wages and incentives, as well as general working conditions at the company. As a result, employees are becoming unmotivated. Issues such as poor communication skills, lack of employee empowerment, high turnover, and too low or too high mental stimulation also have a direct impact on the low level of productivity (Robbins Langton 2001) The four potential solutions to Astral Marketing s low productivity include: the formation of a union, team building training, ... The concept of procedural justice is also challenged through inequitable contract distribution (assuming it can be regulated) at the company. Since the contracts are of broad range, some contracts are more difficult to promote than others are, and the set wages and bonuses do not reflect this inequality (Schweitzer 2002). Another issue is poor communication skills, which result in both a lack of respect for supervisors and a poor level of colleague support. Having friendly and supportive co workers leads to increased job satisfaction , similar to the behaviour of one s manager (Robbins Langton 2001, p.108). The employees at Astral Marketing, however, have poor relations with their supervisors, likely because the supervisors are not trained on how to deal with workers as people (Schweitzer 2002, p.1). There are also poor relations between employees due to a lack of support and understanding (Schweitzer 2002). The Status OfA Woman Essay I d like to start my Essay with famous quote of Virgina Woolf, which goes as, Women have served all these centuries as looking glasses possessing the magic and delicious power of reflecting the figure of man at twice it s natural Size The topic that I ve chosen for my essay is The Status of A Woman in South Indian or specifically Malayalam Cinema. The first question the arises in my mind while watching any Malayalam movie is why does the nationally and internationally acclaimed Malayalam or for that matter any South Indian Cinema fail to represent women s experiences, Why are The Female leads just subjected to basic chores, or as an object of desire? Me being a Woman find it very disturbing to see woman being labelled in the same umbrella. Indian cinema has always been under the line of fire for its potrayal of women as objects of desire. Be it in the case of Mandakini, Parveen Babi or the current crop of actresses. From Sheila Ki Jawaani to Munni ki Badnaami , its usually women who are utilized as objects of desire and sexual objects. The situation is no different in Indian culture where In reality the birth of a girl child is frowned and looked down upon with disrespect in some parts of India and shockingly even among elite and educated Indians, whereas the Birth of a boy is celebrated. Chemistry Cake TestingLab Report Chemistry Baking Project Factorial Experiment 9/25/17 Nick Arana, Joey Hensel Arana, Hensel Chemistry G Objective: The purpose of this experiment is to further comprehend the chemistry of baking a cake through research and experimentation. Background: It may be surprising; however, the process of baking a cake involves a sufficient amount of chemistry. A physical property is a property that can be observed or measured without changing the composition of matter. For example, the color of the cake does not affect the volume, texture, or flavor of the cake; it only affects the appearance of it. Color is a physical property of the cake. On the other hand, a chemical property is a property or behavior of a substance when it undergoes a chemical change or reaction. For example, a chemical property of the cake would be that the cake can burn, spoil, or be digested. Everything added to the cake batter affects the texture of it. For example, without the flour, the cake batter would be close to a liquid, but by adding the flour it gives the cake more volume and it changes the texture. A chemical reaction/change is any change that results in the formation of new chemical substances. When the cake batter bakes and turns into cake, this is a chemical change. In a physical reaction/change, the molecules rearrange, but it does not affect their internal structures (no new substance is formed). When eggs are whipped, it is a physical change or ... Examples Of CourageIn Shrek In the film, Shrek directed by Andrew Adamson Vicky Jenson. The main theme of courage was recurrent throughout the film, however the first time it was shown was when Shrek accepts Lord Farquaads quest. Another example is when the three characters have successfully crossed the rocky bridge and Shrek must reveal his face to Fiona and confess that he is an ogre, not the handsome prince Fiona was hoping for. Additionally, Shrek shows courage when he bursts into the church in the last few scenes, proclaiming his love for Fiona. Courage is a significant theme in the film Shrek because Shrek is taking risks every minute, whether it s opening up to new people or attempting something unorthodox. An element of courage illustrated in Shrek is when Shrek accepts Lord Farquaad s quest to rescue princess Fiona from the treacherous tower, guarded by a female dragon (that takes a romantic shine to Donkey), surrounded by lava and where many previous knights have attempted to capture the Princess. Constantine s EdictOf Milan Throughout history there have been moments that define the rest of time. Turning points or critical moments in which one decision or creation forever changed the path of history. Such moments as Constantine s Edict of Milan, Gutenberg s development of the printing press, and Martin Luther s Ninety five Theses forever changed the landscape of Western Civilization. Who knows where Western Civilization would be without these great hinges of history. In 313 CE, Constantine passed the Edict of Milan. This edict declared the freedom of everyone in the Roman Empire to choose their own religion. He neither made polytheism illegal nor did he make Christianity the official religion of Rome. Instead, to placate both pagans and Christians, both were acceptable to be practiced. This edict also stated that the emperor was protected by the highest divinity, whether that was God, Jupiter or any other god in the Roman pantheon. Constantine continued his work to bring pagans and Christians into peaceful coexistence. He gave the Christians their property confiscated during Diocletian s Great Persecution, but he had the Roman treasury reimburse the people who had bought the stolen goods. He also declared the Lord s Day to be called Sunday in honor of the day the Christian s God rested and in honor of the sun, an aspect of pagan worship. He even kept the traditional title of Pontifex Maximus or chief priest. After decades of persecution the Christians finally had an emperor on their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ireland Is AnIsland Surrounded By The Celtic Sea And The... Ireland is an island surrounded by the Celtic Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Mountain ranges cover a vast majority of its geographical structures. Central Ireland is predominantly flat and its ground is most filled with clay and sand. The climate of Ireland has a lot to do with it being surrounded by water; it stays usually about 50 degrees year around, having mild winters and cool summers. Ireland has long been a country of tradition and held on to traditional values for very long, even when other countries should change. Even today, many Irish homes still follow some of the traditional values which some argue to be the values of an individual with a well rounded life. But this does not mean that the entire country employs these values. In fact, the role of the family has changed significantly in the last couple of decades. In many traditional Irish families, food and family life were closely linked. Traditionally one parent (Mostly the female/mother) would stay at home to take care of the family and look after the home duties such as cooking, cleaning etc. Nowadays this division of work (especially at home) has shifted slightly towards a more modern perspective. Over the years it became more regular for both parents or females in general to be actively employed during the week. (ASK, 2016) This shifted may have changed some parts of the traditional values and gender roles but according to a recent study by the European movement Ireland, the country still has a long way to ... In this project, the critical path is the A + B + C + G + I + J = 3 + 4 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 16 days which consists the activities of pouring the foundation which takes 3 days; building the frame takes 4 days as well as placing the roof; setting the rough in frame takes 2 days as well as painting the garage; and clean up takes 1 day. Having 3 days of delay in electrical can affect the whole project. Therefore, the negotiation of 15 working days would exceed up to 18 days, which could cause the penalty of $300 ($100 per extra day). In order to minimise a project s critical path, sequencing of tasks should be changed. On the off chance that one can do a project s tasks in alternate grouping to that initially proposed, one might have the capacity to shorten the critical path. The Moon CompareTo The Moons Of Other Planets Project 1: How Does the Moon Compare to the Moons of Other Planets Earth s moon did not always exist. According to a theory known as the Big Whack, a roving planetoid, Theia, and the ancient Earth were on the same plane in the solar system. Theia, which is believed to have been at least the size of Mars, collided with the ancient Earth approximately 4.5 billion years ago. The resulting debris, material from the ancient Earth s mantle, is what is said to have formed our current day moon. All of the debris broke off of the ancient Earth and proceeded to fill the air. All of this debris then eventually congealed and formed a solid moon. When making a comparison between our moon and those of other planets it is interesting to view the number of moons each planet has, their size, and their proportion of mass as compared to the planet. Within the terrestrial planets, Mercury and Venus do not have moons, Earth has one moon, and Mars has two. Earth has only one moon and this moon is only 1.2% of the mass of Earth. Mars has two moons and they are 0.00002% of the mass of the planet. The Jovian planets have a much larger number of moons. Jupiter has sixty seven, Saturn has fifty three, Uranus has twenty seven, and Neptune has thirteen. Jupiter s many moons are 0.013% of the mass of the planet as a whole. This so far seems to be the best solution, however ethical and moral dilemmas still rest in the hands of our lawmakers today. The next issue facing internet gambling is taxes. This seems to be the government s biggest issue. This is because of the billions of dollars we mentioned for profit by these online sites, government can gain significant amount of money from it. The legalization of Internet gambling may cause states to lose some revenue generated from legalized gambling operations because many gamblers would spend their money online (Lassani, 1998). Moreover, states lose revenue by not being able to tax gamblers who win over the Internet. Gamblers who win over the Internet have an incentive not to pay taxes on their winnings because the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) lacks the resources to track online gamblers (Lassani, 1998). The likelihood of addiction to Internet gambling among both children and adults is an extremely important concern. In relation to addiction, children are more likely to become addicted to something new than adults (Smith, 2004). For example, the video game like nature of virtual casinos, labeled the crack cocaine of gambling, could make online gambling a temptation difficult to resist. The Natural EnvironmentAnd The Human Race Humans have been intervening in nature for the past 200 milleniums. The natural environment and the human race have evolved together side by side. However, throughout the past few centuries, many ethical questions have been brought up regarding how the human race interacts with nature. As our factories and civilizations increase and expand, so does our footprint. One fairly recent ethical concern is the act of hunting. Hunting has been a staple in the evolution of the human race. The harvesting of animals has provided humans with many valuable resources necessary to survive. Alice Walker, Aldo Leopold, and many other professionals have studied, researched, and written about their views and findings on this matter. Once all of the information has been examined and digested, one can come to a conclusion that is held by hunters and conservationists alike. Hunting is in fact a human intrusion on nature that poses many ethical concerns and among these are hunting for necessity, population control, and sport/prosperity; however, if hunting is done in a principled and legal manner, the act is inherently just. Alice Walker speaks of how the Native Americans treated animals like humans and only killed when it was necessary for their survival. The Cheyenne TribesOf The Native American Indians The Cheyenne was one of the most famous tribes of the Native American Indians. They lived on the Great Plains in what is now South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas. During the 1800 s, the U.S. government forced the Cheyennes to move to Oklahoma. Today, there are two Cheyenne tribes. The Southern Cheyenne live in Oklahoma while the Northern Cheyenne settle in Montana. The Cheyenne had an interesting culture and way of life. Boys were taught how to hunt, fish, and fight from their fathers. Girls learned how to cook, clean, and do chores around the house. Also, the children went to school and played with dolls, toys, and games. For example, the Cheyenne kids enjoyed playing the hoop game and lacrosse. A Cheyenne woman was responsible for building her family s house. She dragged heavy posts with her whenever the tribe moved. Later on, the Cheyenne Indians killed buffalo so they could use buffalo hide to make teepees. They lived in teepees because it was easy to set up and take down. As a result of moving frequently, a teepee allowed the Cheyenne tribe to move within an hour. The Cheyenne women harvested corn, squash, and beans while the men hunted deer and buffalo. Also, they ate fish, fruit, and berries. For clothing, the Cheyenne women wore long deerskin dresses that were decorated with porcupine quills, shells, and elk teeth. Cheyenne men wore breechcloths with leather leggings in colder climates. Men wore moccasins while the women wore high fringed boots. Chief leaders had tall feather headdresses and long warbonnets. The hair style for men was long braids with a topknot and women wore their hair loose or braided. The Cheyennes painted their faces for war, religious ceremonies, and feasts. Lastly, the Cheyenne people were very religious. They performed an elaborate Sun Dance, smoked peace pipes, built ceremonial houses, and four arrows represented their sacred object. The tribal government of the Cheyenne Indians was called the Council of Forty Four. It was formed by ten bands of the tribe. Their entire career is based on asking questions, stating a hypothesis, and furthermore, answering them by conducting experiments. Postman calls for the art of question asking to be infused with the current school curriculum, because to often students do not ask questions. When a student arrives at school on the first day they often notice many changes. Although welcome, these changes sometimes make a student wonder why he or she was not asked if they would prefer them. This is the perfect example of how one phrases a question wrong. Although a student might voice their opinion by saying, amp;#8220;I would like a better school ; they don amp;#8217;t imply in which way they would like to achieve that. Although it was a noteworthy concept, I found it to have many flaws. Postman believes that this concept be put on high priority. He never examines how teachers are to teach this radical way of thinking. Difficulties In TeachingPronunciation Most of English teachers tend to teach their non native students grammar rules and vocabulary, get them to participate in communicative activities and become qualified in reading and listening. As a result, teaching pronunciation is not taken into account due to teachers assumption of having a lot to do rather than focusing on proper pronunciation. Apparently, they claim that students will acquire it throughout learning. Therefore, there is no need to allocate time for teaching pronunciation. Accordingly, ESL learners encounter many difficulties in proper pronunciation. First, we can distinguish between accents and dialect . The former refers to the differences only in pronunciation that may occur due to geographical differences, social and cultural differences, and different educational background. The latter indicates the variety of a language, which differs in things other than pronunciation such as vocabulary, grammar, and word order. We can spot some of the factors that affect the pronunciation of ESL learners especially Arabs. Accordingly, the interference of the learners native language and the learner s age can determine the accuracy of his pronunciation; the younger is he the easier he will master good pronunciation. Further, the amount of exposure to English exceeds the ability to speak native like English, especially if the learner is living in an English speaking environment. From my personal experience, when I was an Arab ESL language learner, my friends ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Window OfYour Dreams A Window To Your Dreams In J.M. Barrie s classic children s story Peter Pan, a young boy named Peter takes three children on the adventure of their dreams in a faraway place called Neverland. The story, revolving around how all children, except one, grow up (1) takes the reader back to mindsets of children and their elaborate fantasies that might actually be true if they could only remember. With sword fights between pirates, fairy dust, flying away from home right out the window and death being only an awfully big adventure (113), not many can see how they would ever forget such a place, but by keeping their windows open and unlocked, any child can enter Neverland through their dreams. Barrie s use of the window isn t simply an entrance or exit way for Peter, it represents the blurred line between a child s dreams and reality, how the trust of a mother s love can be the best form of hope, and how every child should cherish their years of youth and innocence when they can fly to Neverland and not be brought down by age. According to Barrie s Peter Pan, every child s mind flies into their own personal Neverland at night, and sometimes, the lands can be breached when a window is open. Children have a way to keep this window open for the possibility of their dreams to come true, while adult s windows are kept shut due to age and therefore, losing the ability to travel to their Neverland. Every child s mind has access to a map consisting of zigzag lines...probably roads in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
