To be honest, I was quite apprehensive about taking this course. I knew that it was only there to
help me, however, I didn t know what exactly I needed help with. By no means did I think that I
knew everything, but I did think that there wasn t much that I could do and i had to work with
what I had. However, to my surprise, there were many things that I had overlooked about myself
and what I could do to find more direction in my futurecareer. There was much support and
guidance as to what I could do to seek a post college career with my major.

A clearly defined Black feminist perspective cannot be found in the K 12 art education curriculum
at this time. Although several articles from Wanda Knight and Jessie Whitehead have discussed the
importance of including a Black feminist and woman of color perspective, nothing definitive can be
found in the current art education curriculum. Through the use of Charles Mills theory of
revisionist ontology, I will discuss the importance and value of including a Black feminist
perspective in the K 12 art education curriculum.

As a child, people are in the most delicate phase of life. They are a freshly budded lily, absorbing all
the light, moisture, and nutrients possible in order to bloom into an adult. These essential
fertilizers predominantly come from their parents, who nurture them into the person they will
become. This unit commonly consists of a motherand father. The mother a symbol of intimacy and
maternal comfort, and the father a symbol of strength and stature. The balance of this yin and yang
is extremely important for the development of the psyche. Having a fatherless childhoodor a
childhood with a degenerate father is common in today s society. The effects of not having a father
figure ripple through childhood and lay roots in the subconscious. There are two types of a

In the book The Jungle , Upton Sinclair writes about the life of a young couple and their family,
Jurgis Rudkus and Ona Lukoszaite having to move to America after Ona s father passed away
which left them with little money, Jurgis decided to move his and Ona s family to Chicago from
Lithuania to pursue the American dream. Soon after, they learned that their idea of an American
dream was not what they had pictured to be. The story entails the unlucky events that the family
goes through and the unexpected outcome of it all.
The story opens up with Jurgis and Ona at their wedding feast in an area of Chicago known as
Packingtown, Chicago s meatpacking district. The place is filled with music, food, and drinks.
Guests are invited from the streets to come join in on the celebration. Ona starts to get worried
because after their veselija, or what we know it as a wedding feast, she noticed people were leaving
without contributing money to the newlyweds as Lithuanian tradition follows. Some people snuck
away and some people left without any shame knowing that they took advantage of the family,
freeloading from the food and beer that was provided. Trying to free Ona of her worries of how

It seems we have lost the ability to innovate. We do not think the way we used to; we do not
invent new concepts or ideas, rather we just adapt ideas of the past. Our thinking now a day is
very limited to what we have already created.
Google s definition of innovating, make changes in something established, esp. by introducing new
methods, ideas, or products, suggests that innovation is now just development of an old idea. In this
definition there seems to be no mention of inventing but rather only the alteration of a product in a
way never done before. It s not that the alteration of a product is bad thing but it does create a very

On Earth there are one hundred ninety five countries, and they are very diverse. There are
hundreds, if not thousands of religions in the world. Many countries have the same religion but
there can be a major difference between them. Religion is not the only difference between

There is no difference when it comes to comparing the community in my home town, Akureyri, and
Faulkner s community. When I came to Faulkner I got a shock, and I know now why Icelandis

In Iceland the main religion is Christianity. The population of three hundred thirty thousand, divides
up in to, 80% Christianity and 20% that have other religion, or are atheist. According to a survey
from 2010, the average Icelander goes to church four times every year. Counting every time they go
to a funeral, wedding, confirmation and baptism. At Faulkner University I would say that at least
one third of students here go to church every Sunday. Icelandic education system is put up so that
every child learns about Christianity. Addition to that they have to learn the foundation of main
religions in the world; Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism. In Iceland an ethics class is
mandatory, we learn that there is nothing that says that we are any better than the rest of the world.
