The Edict Of Milan As A Form Of Betrayal
The Edict of Milan was an order given by Emperor Constantine of the Roman Empire in the year
313. This order marked the acceptance for the Christian faith within the Roman Empire after
decades of persecution. Its issuance led to Christianity becoming the dominant faith in the Roman
Empire, as well as the most widely practiced religion in the world today. Unfortunately the end of
the persecution of Christians was cause for the persecution of pagans, resulting in cultural, political,
and scientific changes. The authors of Civilizations Past Present state that before the Edict of
Milan, Rome was tolerant of other religions so long as they did not threaten the empire. Christianity
, however, was regarded as dangerous to the social order and the empire itself. This is because the
empire worshipped gods which were not included in the Christian faith (a monotheistic system of
belief). Roman officials considered Christians refusal to sacrifice to Roman gods as a form of
betrayal. Additionally, Christians secluded themselves from the citizens of other faiths and denied
their religions, claiming they were illegitimate. They were pacifistic individuals, refused to join the
army and refused to attend events their faith decreed sinful. In the years from 23 February of AD
303 to 311, Emperor Diocletian banned Christianity throughout Rome and began the worst known
persecution of its followers, condemning those who refused to sacrifice to the Roman gods

Destructive Cycles
Destructive cycles are often hard to deal with and difficult for all involved in the conflict. The book
states that it is often difficult to determine when conflict interaction has turned in a destructive
direction (Folger et al. 2013, p. 21). I completely agree with what the authors are stating here. In
addition to that statement, one on down the page caught my attention immediately in relation to the
specific conflictI am going to discuss and the organization that it involves. Conflicts can also be
difficult to understand due to conscious efforts by some parties to keep the conflict hidden out of
the more public forums in a group or organization (Folger et al. 2013, p. 21). Conflicts and
destructive cycles can be embarrassing to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From my perspective, there is one person in particular that has alienated the other two people
involved with her attitudes and behaviors. She makes hostile eye contact and uses sarcastic, and
passive aggressive behavior. This frustrates the other two endlessly, but she never takes
responsibility for what she is doing and that only adds to the tension. In addition to that, she
repeatedly gives the same argument to support her position, that she is being attacked and that the
other two girls are reading too much into her passive aggressive behavior. Like I said for the
symptoms of avoidance, many of the symptoms of escalation from the chart are present in this
situation. I chose to touch on the few important

Case Study Of Feasibility Study On Chocolates
5.1: Marketing
Marketing plays the most important role for the success of a business. In this chapter, the business
marketing objectives are laid out together with the plans or actions that will be needed to achieve
these objectives. Furthermore, this chapter includes the profile of the respondents which aided the
researchers to create this part of the feasibility study.
A. Target Market
One of the most important in coming up in the marketing plan is identifying your potential
customers or your target market. With this, the researchers can implement and come up with the
strategies suited with the identified target market. Target market or customers are those who are
likely to buy your product.

American Airlines Airplane Crash
The first flight to be reviewed is United Airlines flight 173, that left from JFK Airport, N.Y. on
December 28th, 1978. Its destination was Portland, Oregon, but had one stop in Denver,
Colorado along the route. The aircraft type was a DC 8 and that day had onboard one hundred
and eighty nine passengers, 6 infants and eight crewmembers. The start of the flight was without
incident, and it was documented that the fuel required to get to Portland was 31,900 lbs., on
departing out of Denver they had 46,700 lbs. of fuel onboard. Again, they departed in route to
Oregon with no incident until a flight attendant and some passengers states they heard a loud noise
and felt a big jolt upon the landing gear being lowered. The captain notified the tower of a possible

Not enough fuel was burned so the captain requested an additional twenty minutes while the flight
attendants prepped the cabin for an emergency landing and evacuation of the aircraft. During the
communication of the cockpit crew it seemed that the flight engineer and first flight attendant tried
to communicate things with the captain, in regards to the fuel, cabin, or landing gear, they heard
it but were not really listening. With the captain focusing mainly on the landing gear scenario, the
issue of the fuel and needing to land was not an important factor in his mind at that time. The
aircraft then started to lose engines due to the starvation of fuel, after the number three engine
went out the captain decided to attempt to land the aircraft. Unfortunately, they did not make it to
the airport, it crashed into a suburban wooded area of Portland. There was no fire, and not only
was the aircraft totally destroyed, homes and power lines were also. The crash site was 130 feet
wide and 1,554 feet long, two crewmembers and eight passengers died, the rest suffered serious and

The Big Bang Theory Essay
Astronomers believed the Universe was created about 14 billion years ago. During that time, the
entire Universe was inside a bubble that was thousands of times smaller than a pinhead, and it was
insanely hot and dense. Out of nowhere this little bubble started expanding. This expansion created
what we know as the Universe. In such little time the Universe went from the size of an atom to the
ginormous galaxywe have that is continuously growing. According to the Big BangTheory the
universe appeared as a singularity. Singularities are thought to exist at the core of black holes.
These zones of infinite density are called singularities. Our universe is thought to have begun
extremely small, infinitely hot, and infinitely dense. As time... Show more content on

This observation means that it has taken every galaxy the same amount of time to move from a
starting position to its current position. This observation is called Hubble s Law, named after
Edwin Hubble (1889 1953) who discovered this in 1929. Edwin Hubble s evidence supports the
expansion of the universe and suggests that the universe was once compacted. Third, if the
universe was insanely hot as the Big Bang suggests, scientists should be able to find some of this
heat left over. In 1965, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson discovered a 2.725 degree Kelvin Cosmic
Microwave Background radiation which infuses the observable universe. This is thought to be the
remnant that scientists were looking for. Finally, the discovery of great amounts of Helium and
Hydrogen lead to support the Big Bang Theory. (LaRocco) So now that we have the basics of the
Big Bang Theory, what happened after the initial expansion? In the fractions of the first second
after creation what was once a vacuum began to expand into the universe. Immediately after the Big
Bang the universe was tremendously hot as a result of both matter and antimatter moving apart in
all directions. (For every type of matter particle, there also exists a corresponding antimatter particle.
Antimatter particles look and behave just like their corresponding matter particles, except they have
opposite charges.) As it began to cool there was about an equal abundance of matter and antimatter.

Eucharist, And The Sacrifice Of Black Bodies Analysis
Neoliberalism, Eucharist, and the Sacrifice of Black Bodies In contextualizing the relationship
between the neoliberal movements within the institutional American Catholic Church (the
hierarchy) and African American Catholic community, one better understands the theological and
cultural forces that are clashing. It is through this examination of the neoliberal manipulation of the
hierarchical voice of American Catholicism within the discourse of American politics, and its
subsequent effects on Black bodies an echo of the more sinister objective of the elites is heard. As
American institutional Catholicism plays its role within the elevation and sanctification of
whiteness (through the furthering of the neoliberal movements of Westoxification and
commodification) the institution of religion is being hollowed out. As American institutional...

purchase this territory. It would nearly double adding an amazing amount of land for people who
would want to expand their families and settle in the West. Therefore it would be less crowded
near the original states, and plenty of room for the Native Americans who have lived there before
us and know this land better than we do. With all the new land there will be an ample amount of

Conventional Cars And Hybrid Electric Cars
Conventional cars and Hybrid electric cars: How they impact on Environment Climate change
occurs mainly because of human activities, such as harvesting resources, industrialization, and
technological invention, among other factors. One of the main reasons climate change has
occurred in the last a few decades is because conventional cars which made their first appearance
in 1886, have become increasingly popular. Although, conventional cars are more efficient and
less expensive than hybrid cars, hybrid cars help reduce the negative impact on the environment
more than conventional cars. A Hybrid car has disadvantages due to the battery and power of the
engine, which has to improve over time, which makes people less likely to buy hybrid cars over
conventional cars in the present such as gas and diesel. Even though both conventional and electric
cars have negative impact on the environment, they have different scale of impact on the
environment. By looking at how each system of both types of cars work, what the effect on fuel
consumption rate and greenhouse gas emissions are, and what the disadvantages of electric cars are
compared to conventional cars, hybrid electric cars are less likely to negatively impact on the
environment more than conventional cars. System of how conventional cars work Conventional
cars use internal combustion engines to generate power to put the car into motion. All conventional
cars use what is called a four stroke combustion cycle which are intake

strictest laws in regards to alcoholsales in the country but it is time for the state to enact more up to

This number is equivalent to one third of all automobile accidents across the United States. The
Midwest region of the United States had the highest amount of individuals who were driving under
the influence and the highest percentage of people who admitted to binge drinking at 16.5 percent.
These numbers reflect a problem with drunk driving but they in no way reflect that alcohol should

states that Blue Laws , which are laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol on Sundays, first started in
observance of the Sabbath on Sundays. These laws have been a consistent law in 14 different states
to include: Georgia, North Carolina and of course Oklahoma. This was later assumed by blue law
proponents that the restriction of alcohol sales on Sundays reduce the number of drunk driving
incidents within their individual state. In an analysis completed by viewing the Fatal Accident

crash fatalities remained consistent throughout the week. In fact, the day with the highest number

1.02 Career Goals
From a very young age, I have pursued a career in the law field. As my mother worked as
secretary for a lawyer, I began to take more and more interest in his work. He was very open to
sharing his work with me and encouraged me to read up on the career. I have absolutely loved it
ever since. To this day, I continue to push myself to attain my dream of becoming a lawyer. As I
came close to transferring, I began to look at different CUNY schools to attain my bachelor s
degree. They have great reputations, provide exceptional education, and are affordable. I visited
John Jay, Hunter, and Queens College. I weighed the pros and the cons of each school, and decided
Queens College was the best fit for me. When I got accepted I was unbelievably excited and eager
to go. I have one more semester left before I make the transition into Queens College. After I
finish my Biology and Food Culture classes this summer, I will jump right into the Fall semester.

An Example Of A Nonmaterial Culture In The United States
Nonmaterial culture is defined as the aggregate of values, mores, norms, etc., of a society; the
ideational structure of a culture that provides the values and meanings by which it functions. An
example of this would be religion. Religion although a belief by many throughout the world is
considered nonmaterial. This is someone that worships a Godor Gods or even like the Indians
believing in visions after smoking peyote. Is this truly something that would happen or just
something that was believed to have happened because one of their elderly told them that he/she

An example of this is that in the United States we find it alright to ask someone to come to us by
pointing our finger and curling it toward us. In Japan they find it offensive to signal someone to
come to them in this manner. Something as simple as a hug for which we do quite often in the
US can be considered offensive in foreign countries. Weird right? Wow, I could get into a lot of
trouble in countries like this because I am a hugger. When seeing friends out and about we tend
to hug each other as a gesture of missing each other or love for one another. I never knew this
because I have friends from these countries that would find it offensive, maybe they have
become Americanized . Putting your hands in your pocket as many of us have done many,
many, many times, this is found to be rude in several countries. I guess Alanis Morsette would
be in trouble also (her song Hand in My Pocket HAHAHA). I can honestly say that I would also
be considered rude because I have a bad habit of placing my hand or hands in my pocket. I have
even been known to walk around with my hands in my pockets. So I guess I better stay away from
places like Austria or the Netherlands. Next time you find yourself doing simple gestures such as
these you may want to consider where you

Role Of Art In The Arts
Can the arts play a role in solving international conflicts? At first, my answer was a no. I mean
international conflicts are complex and far reaching. How could the arts possibly play a role?
However, throughout the day I thought about it more. I thought about how music, novels, films,
paintings can affect us on a very personal level. There have been plenty of times when art has put
me in either the best of moods or in the worst of moods. I then realized that the arts can play a role.
Perhaps not directly, but it can influence culture and culture can influence society which can then
affect the world. The main examples that came to my mind was The Beatlesand Bob Marleys One
Love Peace concert. However, before getting into that I want to discuss the benefit concert held by
Ariana Grande after the Manchester terrorist attack.
On May 22nd, 2017 there was a bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England
that killed 22 people and wounded more than 100. I remember when I found out about the
bombing. I was utterly shocked and appalled, especially how some people on social media and
the internet were already making jokes about it. I just didn t understand how someone could do
something like that. However, whenever I found out that Ariana Grande was going to hold a One
Love Manchester just weeks after the attack I was both surprised and moved by it. I respected
Ariana Grande and all the musicians that performed such as: Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Miley
Cyrus, Coldplay,

Health Disparities Essay
There are three categories that summarize health disparities in the U.S. The first is disparities
that have a social or economic cause rather than a biological cause. An example of this would be
that the death rates of black American men are 26 percent higher than that of white men. Also, the
death rates of black American woman are 19 percent higher than that of white women. An
explanation for this is because blacks have a lower socioeconomic status than white. The reason
for this is because blacks are more likely than white to never graduate high school, or graduate
high school but not go to college (Barr, 43). Therefore, those with low socioeconomic status can t
afford to go to the doctor which results in a healthdisparity. The second category

Transgender Individuals Serving In The Military Essay
President Trump recently signed and transmitted a directive to the Department of Defense, which
would discontinue the admittance of transgender individuals into the military. The guidance sent to

When Did the Subject of Transgender Individuals Serving in the Military Come up?
Former President Obama, brought the matter of transgender individuals serving in the military

Reasons Transgender Troops Could Cause Problems:
Whether or not a person agrees with the transgender lifestyle is of no consequence. There are other
reasons that transgender troops aren t a good idea that has nothing to do with a moral leaning. They
are as follows:
Mental Health Issues: The military has strict restrictions on admittance based upon mental health.
For example, any presence of a mood disorder that requires medication can be disqualifying.
Anxiety issues are also disqualifying for entry into the military. When you consider this alongside
the fact that transgender people are at a greater risk, by two to three fold of developing this type
of mental disorder, according to a study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, it makes
sense that someone who had a predisposition already to developing a mental illness wouldn t make
a good soldier.
Medical Needs That Take Soldiers Off The Battle Field:
Also, another reason why the military is so picky about enlistments is the fact that they want able

Feudalism In Cinderella
The French invaded the Rhineland, in what is now Germany, in 1792 during the French
Revolution. During this time, the French invaders pillaged towns, raped women, and destroyed
entire families. While the French believed that they were liberating the Germans from the yoke of
feudalism, (Large 629) they were really creating a bitter enemy of the German people who found
unity in hating anything French. This new found zealotry was exemplified during the Romanticism
period by writers such as the Grimm brothers. They believed that writing down these folk tales was
a way of accurately representing their German culture. Due to this deep seeded belief, they allude to
the French invaders of Germanyin Cinderellathrough the use of the evil stepsisters who invade
Cinderella s home. When the stepsisters arrive, Cinderella is forced to work from dusk to dawn
in her own house, but she is able to maintain her kindness. This image created through Cinderella s
struggle can be compared to that of the German people. The portrayal of the evil stepsisters as
France, Cinderella as Germany, and the Dove as the Holy Trinity, shows that the Grimm s version
of Cinderella acts not only as a story to entertain audiences but as a way to represent the German s
struggles against the French occupation of the Rhineland. The stepsisters that intruded into
Cinderella s home are unmistakable allusions toward the French invaders of 1792. The Grimm s

3. Creating a Civilization
3. A. For a social organization to qualify as a civilization, it must have the following characteristics:
1. City/Cities A city is a large community of people living close together and a center for trade for a
larger place.
2. Permanent records Writing played a vital role in the earliest civilization. It was first developed by
the people of Sumeria. However, writing is not always necessary for civilization.
3. Advanced Technology It is specialized knowledge to transform the natural environment and

4. Specialized Workers In early human societies, farming allowed one people to produce food
surpluses thus allowing other to focus on other tasks.
5. Government It is necessary for a civilization to have a stabilized government for them to organize

Thomas Cole
Painting landscapes was very important during the 19th century. Thomas Cole was one of the
most important figures in landscape painting in the United States. He went to many places
searching for nature, which he painted to show the unmatchable beauty nature creates. His works
of art helped people see and take pride in their great land, which was called America. Cole s works
were often made people feel like they needed to go out in nature and discover the inspiring world of
mother earth.

These painters saw landscapes having feelings of hope, divinity, and even harmony. The Hudson
River School was a very important asset to American culture and art. Bordering countries during the
nineteenth century were demolishing America and made Americans want to see their nation
survive as an independent nation.
Cole focuses on the American landscape and mixes idealism and realism into his paintings to really
get viewers to admire nature and its beauty. He believed that landscape painters needed to have
strength determination, and courage to overcome Mother Nature s more turbulent side.
Then, in 1825, John Trumball, an artist, discovered Cole s magnificent work in a frame at a frame
shop. Trumball immediately bought lots of Cole s works and drew art critics attention. With the
Hudson River School being so prosperous the National Academy of design was born.
In the early nineteenth century landscape artists painted scenes of America s east side near the
Hudson River, but by the mid nineteenth century Landscape artists tended to paint portraits of the
newly explored western territory and the South American tropics to show a more extravagant side
of the United States.

five stages of an empire; which were the savage state, pastoral state, consummation of the empire,
destruction, and finally desolation. The different canvases display the relationship between man and

Getting Inspiration from Historical Sources of Fashion
To what extent have fashion/textile designers working over the last thirty years used historical
sources to inform their practice?
Historical modes of dress or history in general offers invaluable inspiration for contemporary
designers helping to develop and inform ideas of shape, style, proportions and detail. In this essay
I will explore and explain how designers have used the past to inform their work, whether an
expression of political, social, or traditional opinions and ideals. I will particularly focus on
Alexander McQueen s political approach, Vivienne Westwoods social comment s, and Cath Kidston
s play on vintage and nostalgia and the historical sources that have inspired these.
builds new, more complex narratives about both the past and present .
It is ironic that to keep fashion fresh, it must be informed and inspired by the past.
Eclectic and cultured creations
To feed out identities that, like fashion, are also developed and grown from the past. How can we
go forward if we do not learn from the past? To ignore the lessons of history is to go backwards
while the rest of the world moves on.
Philosophical thought
The past offers just as much mystery and allure as the future, if not more, naturally appealing to the
human imagination, offering sentiment and familial value that we find comfort in.
Everybody likes to know what has happened. This is inclusive of fashion too.

A Woman s Right Of Abortion
A Woman s Right to Abortion
Roe v. Wade, 1973 On January 22, 1973, the supreme court justices came to a decision about
abortion. I am going to start off by giving some general information about the laws passed and
other events that have led the abortion laws to where they are now. In 1821, Connecticut passed the
first law that restricted abortion in the United States. It prohibited the use of toxins to cause a
miscarriage. Back then, women usually didn t know they were pregnant until the baby started
kicking inside them or a little bit before. This law made it illegal for women to make themselves
miscarry by taking those toxins. In 1873, Anthony Comstock lobbied to pass the Comstock Law

In the 1960 s, Pat Maginnis founded the Society for Humane Abortion. She was one of the first
people to try to legalize abortion. They thought she was insane, Reagan said. A lady named
Sherri Finkbine was a mother of four who lived in Arizona. In 1962, she was denied a request by
the hospital for a legal abortion so she traveled to Sweden to get one. She had taken the drug
thalidomide, which researchers linked to various birth defects. The hospital withdrew its offer
to Finkbine after she told her story to the local newspaper for the purpose of alerting women and
soon to be mothers of the dangers of he drug. The publicity she got from the newspaper article
threw her into the middle of the world wide debate. In 1969, a few young women in Chicago
started an underground system nicknamed Jane. This system helped women find safe and
affordable but still illegal abortions. These ladies learned to perform them by themselves.
According to a documentary about the group, they completed nearly 12,000 abortions in about 4

Essay The Anti-Ballistic Missile Debate
At the beginning of our time on this earth, mankind was learning to stand up. Upon walking a
good many steps on this world, mankind moved across the lands living off of its fruit and meat.
Then we decided to stop moving and mankind developed cultivation skills to better serve us.
Since then mankind has grown by leaps and bounds over the kingdoms and empires of old.
Growth was spurred by conquest. It was almost as if man was born to kill or be killed. Although
riddled with turmoil the age that would surpass these days would always be over the cliff of a far
horizon. These events passed in cycles. Peace to follow war. Aggression came from suppression.
Mankind moved through the agricultural revolution and the... Show more content on

It includes the same radars, the same rockets, and largely the same deployment which was
contemplated for the heavy defense. Safeguard continues to look like a first step toward a much
bigger, more expensive and still ineffective system. (York 213)
This brings me to my first point: cost. The ABM appeared to have all the characteristics of a
solution in search of a problem. This characteristic shows up all too often in defense research and
development programs, especially in the field of nuclear weaponry. A possibly fundamental reason
why the ABM decision came up in 1969 was that ten years earlier Secretary of Defense McElroy,
in dividing up the space and missile roles and missions among the three services, assigned the
ABM to the Army as its only sophisticated missile program. This decision created a situation in
which for many years the lives and careers of many able persons had been closely entwined with
the life and fate of one single program: the Army s ABM. This not only included the civilians
employed in the program office and by the main contractors, it also included uniformed personnel
and a slew of part time advisers at all levels. The testimony given by persons who were part time
advisers to the defense establishment and who were also in favor of the

The Hillsborough Stadium Disaster
Disasters come in many shapes and sizes. While many are unavoidable, such as natural disasters,
disasters with a largely human element can be prevented. While disasters often seem unpredictable,
the clues are often there in front of us so long as we have the ability to recognize them and the
ability to do something about them. This analysis explores the advantage an ergonomic approach
provides in uncovering these clues and how that approach can provide creative solutions that
benefit both the individual component and overall system function symbiotically.
To illustrate these points this exploration utilizes the context of the Hillsborough stadium disaster.
This disaster involved the crushing deaths of 96 individuals at a football game at Hillsborough
stadium in 1989 (Taylor, 1989). There are many easily identifiable factors that contributed to this
disaster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these characteristics fall under the guise of an emergent property of a system. An emergent
property is defined as ... conjoint actions [that] cannot be characterised by the sum of any individual
causes (Johnson, 2006). An alternative way to understand emergent properties is that they are
properties that would not exist in singularity, but only exist when in the right context, interacting
with one or multiple elements of the system.
An emergent property to the Hillsborough system is a basic as a crowd. A crowd does not exist
on its own, but rather comes to exist when it is comprised of many types of stakeholders
(spectators, stewards, police, and more) in the context of a specific space (the stadium). An
ergonomist is clearly not required to identify a crowd as being a component of the system, but an
ergonomic approach can reveal the properties of that crowd and how it impacts the

Persuasive Essay On Child Circumcision
Imagine you are in hospital room somewhere in Malaysia. A young girl timidly toddles in with
her mother, and is soon restrained by her mother and a medical attendant while her genitals are cut
against her will. This will ensure that her body is cleaner, her mother has been conditioned to
think. It will also make her daughter s genitals look more aesthetically pleasing. After the procedure
has been completed, the girl lay there suffering in pain, and the doctor proudly announces to her
mother, Congratulations! Her circumcision is finished! As appalling as it is to imagine this
scenario, thousands of American newborns go through this trauma every day; simply change the
gender from girl to boy. Routine infant circumcision (RIC) is described as the nonreligious elective
removal of the prepuce of the penisin the days following birth, [and] is the most common surgery
performed in the United States. (Mitchell and Beal)
Although circumcision is thought to be one of the oldest procedures in the world, the manner in
which American doctors perform it is relatively new. Unbeknownst to most modern day Americans,
circumcision wasn t widely practiced in the country until about 1910. As a matter of fact, none of
our founding fathers, including Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, were circumcised!
Americans tend to be dumbfounded when they learn that about 80 percent of the world s
population do not practice circumcision, nor have they ever done so. (Wallerstein) We are, in

Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing
Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing
Bianca Barreto
Texas Tech University Abstract
In general, the brain is thought to be lateralized with the two hemispheres having control of the
opposite side of the body and their own functionalities. In this case, the left hemisphere dominates in
language and verbal capabilities controlling the right side of the body including the right visual field
. Using this fact and the difference in visual fields, subjects were asked to focus on a flashing
screen with a pulsating plus sign. Vertically oriented words would flash on either the left or right
side of the plus sign in order to isolate individual hemispheres. The time to correctly identify the
words was recorded and compared between the left and right visual fields as well as between
males and females. In this case, there was a significant difference between visual fields with the
right side being significantly faster at processing words. In addition, males showed greater
differences between visual fields when compared to females. These findings suggest that the right
hemisphere is more selective in word processing and that males are more lateralized than females.
Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Insufficient information is known about how words are
processed by the brain. Within the scientific community, the brain is believed to be lateralized
(Tucha, Aschenbrenner, Lange, 2000). In this case, the left hemisphere controls the right side of the
body and the

The Latino And Latino Community
The Hispanic/Latino community has been known to be underrepresented on college campuses, both
at the community college and four year university level. Factors such as low income households,
poor or harsh living conditions, under educated parents, cultural and family commitments, and
unfamiliarity with the collegeprocess, all serve as unfortunate barriers that keep Hispanic/Latino
students from reaching the goal of attaining college degrees. Although these barriers keep many
students from succeeding, many others overcome these obstacles and continue on their paths to
creating a better future for themselves. They choose to look past the expectations that society has
for them and break out of the stereotypical mold. However, Hispanic/Latino students face, yet,
another challenge upon successfully making it on to a college campus... the challenge of graduating.
Regardless of the type of institution, retention is one of the biggest issues that colleges encounter
with the Hispanic/Latino population. The question has been posed for quite some time: What can
colleges do to, not only keep these students on campus, but also to prepare them for the challenges
they may face when transferring to a four year school? Various programs on college campuses
across the state of California have been implemented in the past couple of decades to help address
this question. The existence of such programs, like Educational Opportunity Program (EOP),

A great influence on the styles around me is attributed to where I live and intend to live. The first
magazines I looked at as a child were Masonry Construction and Popular Mechanics because that is
what my dad read. When my family moved up north to a resort from the Twin Cities suddenly my
world at the age of six was changed and I loved it. I think I was too young to fully appreciate styles
of writing at age six but as I got older I saw my way of life in other magazines such as Country

Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens have a small town, country style. The articles

not just jotted down for another to copy. The writing involves me. I think What a great memory

Technical Writing Vs Technical Communication
In today s highly technologically oriented world, people have begun to communicate in innovative
ways, which include, inter alia, telephones, cell telephones, smartphones, handheld electronic
devices, tablets, email, video conferencing, instant messaging or text messaging. With the advent of
the information revolution at the turn of the century, the concept of professional communication
has been repeatedly redefined to accommodate the contemporary trends, methods and changes that
communication in the corporate world has witnessed. Many of the theories in professional
communication are derived from traditional communication, technical writing, rhetorical theory and
ethics. According to Julia Wood (2004), communication is a systemic process in which individuals
interact with and through symbols to create and interpret meanings.
A technical communicator is responsible for writing documents, designing and creating graphics,
designing and creating websites, copyediting other documents, examining documents for usability,
illustrations, and much more. Technical writing is now known as technical communications
because a technical writer does so much more than just write. Technical writing is a specialized
form of exposition: that is, written communication done on the job, especially in fields with
specialized vocabularies, such as science, engineering, technology, and the health sciences. The

Media Hurt Relationships
Social Media Can Hurt Relationships Nearly all communications are now done through some
form of social media. Today around seven in ten Americans use social media to connect with their
friends or to entertain themselves. In 2005 when the Pew Research Center began to track social
media use, just 5% of American adults used at least one of these platforms and by 2011 half of all
Americans began to use social media (Pew Research Center). Today 69% of the public uses some
type of social media (Pew Research Center). Social media can negatively hurt relationships because
of miscommunication and words are exchanged that normally would not be exchanged in person.
Relationships are put on the line due to social media. The Pew Research Center says that overall
reports have shown that young adults are more likely to report tension in their relationships over
technology use while just one in ten online adults 65 and older say the same (Lenhart Duggan).
A girl will not have a good first impression if a guy is on his phone the whole time while on their
first date or vice versa. Family relationships and trust will have a hard time growing if a parent
communicates with their child or a child lets their parent know something through social media.

Comparing Inequality In Eve And Samson Agonist By...
Inequality is a struggle that women have felt since the beginning of time, and an issue that still
plagues women today. Women are consistently reduced to their looks or the tasks they are able to
complete, and often their intellect and talents are ignored. Milton grapples the topic in both of his
works, Paradise Lost with Adam and Eve, and Samson Agonists with Samson and Dalila. Both Eve
and Dalila are presented as unequal characters when compared to Adam and Samson, making them
both more susceptible to the advances of evil forces. Each womanindividually faces temptation and
fails to supersede it, causing not only the fall for themselves, but the fall for their husbands as well.
For Eve, her fall fates not only Adam but the entire humanity... Show more content on

If Milton situated the woman as equal to their husbands and as helpmates instead of companions
then the likelihood of them falling would have decreased greatly. However, because of their
inequality it opened sin up to being a viable temptation. Milton had to present them as unequal
beings to be able to justify their fall and in return ultimately place the blame on God as a whole.
Milton s central theme seems to suggest that if God would have just created men and women
equal to begin with then they would not have fallen. This is easily seen in Paradise Lost, but when
examining Samson Agonists, it is evident there as well, since Dalila is part of the Philistinians, a
race that God sent Samson to destroy, making them unequal. Therefore, it can be assumed that
Milton presents Eve and Dalila the way he does in order to justify the fall and attempt to make
sense of why humanity had to fall even though it was created by an omnipotent

Descriptive Essay About A New School
A New School Have you ever had to move before? If you have you know it s a scary feeling
having to start all over with friends and join a new school. Early in the morning when we moved
made the nice peaceful weather cold and rainy. The feeling sent shivers down my spine as if
there was a thunderstorm. Sweat trickled down my back. I was so scared to move that my teeth
were chattering. First I ran over to my neighbors for one last Goodbye! Then out of the blue the
moving truck was all packed so I scurried back into the house that used to be ours and peered
around. Driving away I knew that was the last time I will ever see that house again. A move
from LA to Chicago is a giant move. The weather is different and so are the people. We found
our new extremely awesome house that was so tall and wide that you had to stand a good
distance to see what s on the other side of the house. I wandered in and found myself standing in
a enormous room with a red brick fireplace. I strolled around until I got to the very next floor
where I found a bedroom that I called dibs on! Peering out the window at my Mom and Dad
unpacking the car, so far down they appeared like mini figures playing with Hot wheels. My mom
came in and asked me Do you guys like this house? My brother and I responded in unison This
place is AWESOME! I screamed to my brother, George, in excitement Look at the rooms they are

on a social, cultural and personal level. These areas of conflict are highlighted through the use of
film techniques such as; camera shots, camera angles, lighting and costume. The film outlines the
contrast between mainstream American society and the Amishcommunity in regional
Pennsylvania. While American society is seen as a violent and arrogant group of people, whereas
the Amish are seen to be a peaceful, religious group of people. In this film the Amish perceive the
mainstream American society to be called the English . The reason for this is the Amish originated

holsters his pistol in a shoot out type fashion. We see rapid mid range shots between Book and
McPhee which gives us the feeling of a fast paced action movie. This leaves Book wounded and in
a state of shock.
Book then flees to the Amish hideout with Rachel and Samuel because it is no longer safe in
Boston. Book is cared for by the Amish by using traditional herbal teas and remedies. One
morning, Book awakes to find Samuel holding his gun and yells don t move with an outburst of
anger. Book removes the bullets and allows for Samuel to hold it. Rachel walks in and sees that
Samuel is in possession of the gun and sends him downstairs. Book now creates a personal conflict
because he knows that he should not have let Samuel get his hands on the gun because violence is
against their beliefs, and morally no children of any culture should be in contact with guns. Book
also knows that he is the protector and he needs to nurture Samuel but not expose him to the ways
of the English .
As the plot progresses we see the growing love interest between Book and Rachel develop. In
particular where Book is trying to start the car in the barn and Rachel joins him. The car starts, the
radio fires up and the DJ announces What A Wonderful World to the excitement of Book. Book
invites Rachel to dance where they sing and have a great time until Eli walks in.

The remaining 60% of the patients are follow up patients. Of this 60%, 85% of them necessitate an
X Ray, while the remaining 15% do not. They go directly to the doctor or senior resident student.
Given this, we can calculate the average time per patient in the clinic.
Average Time = 129 x 0.4 + [0.85x119 + 0.15x(25+3+33)] x 0.6
= 129 x0.4 + 110.3x0.6 = 117.78 minutes
The total time that a patient spend in clinic (a usual patient, without specification if he/she is new
or a follow up), is 117.8 minutes.
Having the throughput and the flow time, we can calculate the inventory of patients in the clinic.
You can find the inventory for every step in the table above. Adding these numbers together, we can
calculate the number of patients that are in clinic in a given time.

Loneliness in Works of Emily Dickinson Essay
In the poems of Emily Dickinson, there are many instances in which she refers to her seclusion
and loneliness, and how wonderful the two can be. In a book entitled, Emily Dickenson: Singular
Poet, by Carl Dommermuth, she writes: She (Dickinson) apparently enjoyed a normal social life
as a school girl, but in later years would seldom leave her home. She was passionate yet distant.
This distance Dommermuth speaks of is quite evident in Dickinson s works. Dickinson not only
loves her loneliness but also feels as though she cannot live without it.
Emily Dickinson lived most of her time on this earth, from 1830 1886, in the small New England
town of Amherst. New England was where the seeds of Puritanism took hold, and the Dickinson ...

As feminist literary scholars Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar noted, It was combining
Transcendentalism with the Bible and her Puritan background which enabled Dickinson to contrive
her own interpretation of theology which was expressed through her poetry (843).
As Dickinson retreated from the public s view, she contemplated issues that dealt with subjects of
nature, individuality, God, and death. None of Dickinson s poems were published in her lifetime,
and it was only after her death in 1886 when her sister Lavivia discovered a collection of over
1,000 poems, that the world was blessed with the poems of Emily Dickinson.
Dickinson s bout with religious turmoil is quite evident in poem 1545; The Bible is an antique
Volume , in which she seems to be attacking the Puritan radicals such as Jonathan Edward. This
poem gives almost a complete overview of the Bible, speaking of Eden, Satan, Judas, David, and
also Sin. This poem lets us see why and also how this strict religious upbringing may have pushed
her to become the `old spinster as some may call her, or the woman with the disease of agoraphobia.
In poem number 405, It might be lonelier; Dickinson adds a twist to a traditional view on
loneliness. Instead of speaking of being lonely as a negative feeling, she sees herself as `lucky for
having it . It s almost as though she is feeling sorry for those who aren t able to feel alone in the
same way.

Confusion Of Control And Control Of Operation Anaconda
Operation Anaconda was a joint operation. Even though it was a joint operation, this does not
necessarily mean cohesive. This is especially true of the air operations. Poorly executed joint
functions, primarily air operations, resulted in diminished close air support capabilities during
Operation Anaconda due to confusion of control of aviation assets, lack of proper
communication equipment, and available air coordination personnel were overwhelmed.
Confusion of control of Aviation Assets The first reason for the diminished capabilities was that
there was confusion on who had tactical control of some aviation assets. Without positive
control of all available assets, problems were inevitable. Task Force Dagger, the Special
Operation Force element, was part of Combined CJTF Mountain (CJTF), the overall command
element. CJTF Mountain was not granted Tactical Control (TACON) of TF Dagger though. This
also means that TF Dagger retained control of its aviation assets (Fleri, 2003). The aviation
assets in question still assigned to TF Dagger were the AC 130 gunships. These aircraft are one
of the most capable close air support assets that is available to the troops on the ground. This fixed
wing aircraft is heavily armed. These armaments include a 25mm Gatlin gun, 40mm Bofors cannon,
and a 105mm howitzer cannon (af.mil, 2016). This aircraft is one of the best close air support

The Article Over Population Is Not The Problem `` New...
In the article Over Population Is Not the Problem New York Times. On 13 September 2013, Erle
Elis informs us that many scientist believe humans are exceeding the earth s natural carrying
capacity. That the expanding numbers are reaching the limits of our finite planet. Earths carrying
capacity is estimated between 4 and 16 billion, and the world s populationstands at around 7
billion. In other words, we may have already passed the limits. It is estimated that by 2050,
population will reach 9 billion. We are exceeding the earth s natural resources and undermining the
life support that sustains us. (Ellis) We are living beyond our means and are increasingly doing so
as our population expands. This is a serious problem with major implications for future generations.
However, there is many ways to curb overpopulation, one of them being women empowerment.
Women s empowerment has four proportions: having control over their own body, education,
radical and monetary.
So, what can be done about human population growth? Can we really change population trends? If
so can we change them without undermining the core human values and the freedom of all? (Amy
Coen) There are steps that can be taken in order to solve this problem. First step is, fully realizing
everyone s human rights, especially women s rights. In the Organization Global Population Speak
Out the activists state that gender equality is a very important part in stabilizing global population.

Gametogenesis Lab Report
Gametogenesis Lab Report
1.Introduction
Gametogenesis refers to the production of haploid sex cells within an organism. The haploid sex
cells are composed of half of the genetic material of that from the germ line of the parents. The
process of gametogenesis could not take place without two specific organs, the ovary and the
testis. These two organs, the gonads, are composed of germ cells where meiosis occurs. Meiosis is

Taco Bell
Global Operations
Taco Bell Case
TACO BELL CASE
1. Draw a diagram of the process using the format in Exhibit 7.3.
2. Consider a base case where a customer arrives every 40 seconds and the Customer Service
Champion can handle 120 customers per hour. There are two Food Champions, each capable of
handling 100 orders per hour. How long should it take to be served by the restaurant (from the time
a customer enters the kiosk queue until her food is delivered)? Use queuing models to estimate this.
О»=Arrival Rate Ој=Service Rate
Based on M/M/1 Model
So, О»=360040=90 Customers per hour ОјS (Service Champion)= 120 Customers per hourОјF
(Food Champion)= 200 Customers per hour
Now, we need to calculate Average Total Time... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the type of analysis done in this case what are the key assumptions? What would be the
impact on this analysis if the assumptions ware not true? Assumption| Impact if it was not true|
Customer arrival pattern is Poisson| If the customers arriving at Taco Bell Did not fulfill the
assumption to be characterized as Poisson arrival pattern the above calculation would have been
wrong and other more complex model would need to be used in order to determine correct
values.| There is unlimited space for the cars waiting in line| The number of cars waiting in line
would have to be no larger than the number of space available, so calculations carried out basing
on M/M/1 Model would be unrealistic.| The two services are independent| If this assumption is
not met we would meet to use more sophisticated models to provide this analysis.| Service
Champion is never helping the Food Champions, even if a complicated order is placed.| As per
case in reality Service Champion sometimes need to help Food Champions so the time it takes to
serve customers would increase.| Service pattern is exponential| If the service pattern were not
exponential (i.e. it was constant) we would need to use different Model to carry out the analysis. |
8. Could this type of analysis be used by other service type businesses? Give example Similar

  • 3. The Edict Of Milan As A Form Of Betrayal The Edict of Milan was an order given by Emperor Constantine of the Roman Empire in the year 313. This order marked the acceptance for the Christian faith within the Roman Empire after decades of persecution. Its issuance led to Christianity becoming the dominant faith in the Roman Empire, as well as the most widely practiced religion in the world today. Unfortunately the end of the persecution of Christians was cause for the persecution of pagans, resulting in cultural, political, and scientific changes. The authors of Civilizations Past Present state that before the Edict of Milan, Rome was tolerant of other religions so long as they did not threaten the empire. Christianity , however, was regarded as dangerous to the social order and the empire itself. This is because the empire worshipped gods which were not included in the Christian faith (a monotheistic system of belief). Conflicts can also be difficult to understand due to conscious efforts by some parties to keep the conflict hidden out of the more public forums in a group or organization (Folger et al. 2013, p. 21). From my perspective, there is one person in particular that has alienated the other two people involved with her attitudes and behaviors. She makes hostile eye contact and uses sarcastic, and passive aggressive behavior. This frustrates the other two endlessly, but she never takes responsibility for what she is doing and that only adds to the tension. In addition to that, she repeatedly gives the same argument to support her position, that she is being attacked and that the other two girls are reading too much into her passive aggressive behavior. Like I said for the symptoms of avoidance, many of the symptoms of escalation from the chart are present in this situation. I chose to touch on the few important ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Its destination was Portland, Oregon, but had one stop in Denver, Colorado along the route. The aircraft type was a DC 8 and that day had onboard one hundred and eighty nine passengers, 6 infants and eight crewmembers. The start of the flight was without incident, and it was documented that the fuel required to get to Portland was 31,900 lbs., on departing out of Denver they had 46,700 lbs. of fuel onboard. • 7. The Big Bang Theory Essay Astronomers believed the Universe was created about 14 billion years ago. During that time, the entire Universe was inside a bubble that was thousands of times smaller than a pinhead, and it was insanely hot and dense. Out of nowhere this little bubble started expanding. This expansion created what we know as the Universe. In such little time the Universe went from the size of an atom to the ginormous galaxywe have that is continuously growing. According to the Big BangTheory the universe appeared as a singularity. Singularities are thought to exist at the core of black holes. These zones of infinite density are called singularities. This observation means that it has taken every galaxy the same amount of time to move from a starting position to its current position. This observation is called Hubble s Law, named after Edwin Hubble (1889 1953) who discovered this in 1929. Edwin Hubble s evidence supports the expansion of the universe and suggests that the universe was once compacted. Third, if the universe was insanely hot as the Big Bang suggests, scientists should be able to find some of this heat left over. In 1965, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson discovered a 2.725 degree Kelvin Cosmic Microwave Background radiation which infuses the observable universe. This is thought to be the remnant that scientists were looking for. Finally, the discovery of great amounts of Helium and Hydrogen lead to support the Big Bang Theory. (LaRocco) So now that we have the basics of the Big Bang Theory, what happened after the initial expansion? In the fractions of the first second after creation what was once a vacuum began to expand into the universe. Immediately after the Big Bang the universe was tremendously hot as a result of both matter and antimatter moving apart in all directions. (For every type of matter particle, there also exists a corresponding antimatter particle. Antimatter particles look and behave just like their corresponding matter particles, except they have opposite charges.) It is through this examination of the neoliberal manipulation of the hierarchical voice of American Catholicism within the discourse of American politics, and its subsequent effects on Black bodies an echo of the more sinister objective of the elites is heard. • 10. Conventional Cars And Hybrid Electric Cars Conventional cars and Hybrid electric cars: How they impact on Environment Climate change occurs mainly because of human activities, such as harvesting resources, industrialization, and technological invention, among other factors. One of the main reasons climate change has occurred in the last a few decades is because conventional cars which made their first appearance in 1886, have become increasingly popular. Although, conventional cars are more efficient and less expensive than hybrid cars, hybrid cars help reduce the negative impact on the environment more than conventional cars. A Hybrid car has disadvantages due to the battery and power of the engine, which has to improve over time, which makes people less likely to buy hybrid cars over conventional cars in the present such as gas and diesel. Even though both conventional and electric cars have negative impact on the environment, they have different scale of impact on the environment. By looking at how each system of both types of cars work, what the effect on fuel consumption rate and greenhouse gas emissions are, and what the disadvantages of electric cars are compared to conventional cars, hybrid electric cars are less likely to negatively impact on the environment more than conventional cars. An example of this would be that the death rates of black American men are 26 percent higher than that of white men. Also, the death rates of black American woman are 19 percent higher than that of white women. An explanation for this is because blacks have a lower socioeconomic status than white. The reason for this is because blacks are more likely than white to never graduate high school, or graduate high school but not go to college (Barr, 43). During this time, the French invaders pillaged towns, raped women, and destroyed entire families. While the French believed that they were liberating the Germans from the yoke of feudalism, (Large 629) they were really creating a bitter enemy of the German people who found unity in hating anything French. This new found zealotry was exemplified during the Romanticism period by writers such as the Grimm brothers. They believed that writing down these folk tales was a way of accurately representing their German culture. Due to this deep seeded belief, they allude to the French invaders of Germanyin Cinderellathrough the use of the evil stepsisters who invade Cinderella s home. When the stepsisters arrive, Cinderella is forced to work from dusk to dawn in her own house, but she is able to maintain her kindness. This image created through Cinderella s struggle can be compared to that of the German people. The portrayal of the evil stepsisters as France, Cinderella as Germany, and the Dove as the Holy Trinity, shows that the Grimm s version of Cinderella acts not only as a story to entertain audiences but as a way to represent the German s struggles against the French occupation of the Rhineland. • 25. Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Cerebral Isolation Using Word Processing Bianca Barreto Texas Tech University Abstract In general, the brain is thought to be lateralized with the two hemispheres having control of the opposite side of the body and their own functionalities. In this case, the left hemisphere dominates in language and verbal capabilities controlling the right side of the body including the right visual field . Using this fact and the difference in visual fields, subjects were asked to focus on a flashing screen with a pulsating plus sign. Vertically oriented words would flash on either the left or right side of the plus sign in order to isolate individual hemispheres. The time to correctly identify the words was recorded and compared between the left and right visual fields as well as between males and females. In this case, there was a significant difference between visual fields with the right side being significantly faster at processing words. In addition, males showed greater differences between visual fields when compared to females. • 26. The Latino And Latino Community The Hispanic/Latino community has been known to be underrepresented on college campuses, both at the community college and four year university level. Factors such as low income households, poor or harsh living conditions, under educated parents, cultural and family commitments, and unfamiliarity with the collegeprocess, all serve as unfortunate barriers that keep Hispanic/Latino students from reaching the goal of attaining college degrees. Although these barriers keep many students from succeeding, many others overcome these obstacles and continue on their paths to creating a better future for themselves. They choose to look past the expectations that society has for them and break out of the stereotypical mold. However, Hispanic/Latino students face, yet, another challenge upon successfully making it on to a college campus... the challenge of graduating. Regardless of the type of institution, retention is one of the biggest issues that colleges encounter with the Hispanic/Latino population. The question has been posed for quite some time: What can colleges do to, not only keep these students on campus, but also to prepare them for the challenges they may face when transferring to a four year school? Various programs on college campuses across the state of California have been implemented in the past couple of decades to help address this question. The existence of such programs, like Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), contribute to the academic success of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Technical Writing Vs Technical Communication In today s highly technologically oriented world, people have begun to communicate in innovative ways, which include, inter alia, telephones, cell telephones, smartphones, handheld electronic devices, tablets, email, video conferencing, instant messaging or text messaging. With the advent of the information revolution at the turn of the century, the concept of professional communication has been repeatedly redefined to accommodate the contemporary trends, methods and changes that communication in the corporate world has witnessed. Many of the theories in professional communication are derived from traditional communication, technical writing, rhetorical theory and ethics. According to Julia Wood (2004), communication is a systemic process in which individuals interact with and through symbols to create and interpret meanings. A technical communicator is responsible for writing documents, designing and creating graphics, designing and creating websites, copyediting other documents, examining documents for usability, illustrations, and much more. Technical writing is now known as technical communications because a technical writer does so much more than just write. Technical writing is a specialized form of exposition: that is, written communication done on the job, especially in fields with specialized vocabularies, such as science, engineering, technology, and the health sciences. Today around seven in ten Americans use social media to connect with their friends or to entertain themselves. In 2005 when the Pew Research Center began to track social media use, just 5% of American adults used at least one of these platforms and by 2011 half of all Americans began to use social media (Pew Research Center). Today 69% of the public uses some type of social media (Pew Research Center). Social media can negatively hurt relationships because of miscommunication and words are exchanged that normally would not be exchanged in person. Relationships are put on the line due to social media. The Pew Research Center says that overall reports have shown that young adults are more likely to report tension in their relationships over technology use while just one in ten online adults 65 and older say the same (Lenhart Duggan). • 31. Comparing Inequality In Eve And Samson Agonist By... Inequality is a struggle that women have felt since the beginning of time, and an issue that still plagues women today. Women are consistently reduced to their looks or the tasks they are able to complete, and often their intellect and talents are ignored. Milton grapples the topic in both of his works, Paradise Lost with Adam and Eve, and Samson Agonists with Samson and Dalila. Both Eve and Dalila are presented as unequal characters when compared to Adam and Samson, making them both more susceptible to the advances of evil forces. Each womanindividually faces temptation and fails to supersede it, causing not only the fall for themselves, but the fall for their husbands as well. For Eve, her fall fates not only Adam but the entire humanity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Milton situated the woman as equal to their husbands and as helpmates instead of companions then the likelihood of them falling would have decreased greatly. However, because of their inequality it opened sin up to being a viable temptation. Milton had to present them as unequal beings to be able to justify their fall and in return ultimately place the blame on God as a whole. Milton s central theme seems to suggest that if God would have just created men and women equal to begin with then they would not have fallen. This is easily seen in Paradise Lost, but when examining Samson Agonists, it is evident there as well, since Dalila is part of the Philistinians, a race that God sent Samson to destroy, making them unequal. Therefore, it can be assumed that Milton presents Eve and Dalila the way he does in order to justify the fall and attempt to make sense of why humanity had to fall even though it was created by an omnipotent ... In a book entitled, Emily Dickenson: Singular Poet, by Carl Dommermuth, she writes: She (Dickinson) apparently enjoyed a normal social life as a school girl, but in later years would seldom leave her home. She was passionate yet distant. This distance Dommermuth speaks of is quite evident in Dickinson s works. Dickinson not only loves her loneliness but also feels as though she cannot live without it. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As feminist literary scholars Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar noted, It was combining Transcendentalism with the Bible and her Puritan background which enabled Dickinson to contrive her own interpretation of theology which was expressed through her poetry (843). As Dickinson retreated from the public s view, she contemplated issues that dealt with subjects of nature, individuality, God, and death. None of Dickinson s poems were published in her lifetime, and it was only after her death in 1886 when her sister Lavivia discovered a collection of over 1,000 poems, that the world was blessed with the poems of Emily Dickinson. Dickinson s bout with religious turmoil is quite evident in poem 1545; The Bible is an antique Volume , in which she seems to be attacking the Puritan radicals such as Jonathan Edward. This poem gives almost a complete overview of the Bible, speaking of Eden, Satan, Judas, David, and also Sin. This poem lets us see why and also how this strict religious upbringing may have pushed her to become the `old spinster as some may call her, or the woman with the disease of agoraphobia. In poem number 405, It might be lonelier; Dickinson adds a twist to a traditional view on loneliness. • 38. Confusion Of Control And Control Of Operation Anaconda Operation Anaconda was a joint operation. Even though it was a joint operation, this does not necessarily mean cohesive. This is especially true of the air operations. Poorly executed joint functions, primarily air operations, resulted in diminished close air support capabilities during Operation Anaconda due to confusion of control of aviation assets, lack of proper communication equipment, and available air coordination personnel were overwhelmed. Confusion of control of Aviation Assets The first reason for the diminished capabilities was that there was confusion on who had tactical control of some aviation assets. Without positive control of all available assets, problems were inevitable. Task Force Dagger, the Special Operation Force element, was part of Combined CJTF Mountain (CJTF), the overall command element. CJTF Mountain was not granted Tactical Control (TACON) of TF Dagger though. This also means that TF Dagger retained control of its aviation assets (Fleri, 2003). The aviation assets in question still assigned to TF Dagger were the AC 130 gunships. These aircraft are one of the most capable close air support assets that is available to the troops on the ground. This fixed wing aircraft is heavily armed. On 13 September 2013, Erle Elis informs us that many scientist believe humans are exceeding the earth s natural carrying capacity. That the expanding numbers are reaching the limits of our finite planet. Earths carrying capacity is estimated between 4 and 16 billion, and the world s populationstands at around 7 billion. In other words, we may have already passed the limits. It is estimated that by 2050, population will reach 9 billion. We are exceeding the earth s natural resources and undermining the life support that sustains us. (Ellis) We are living beyond our means and are increasingly doing so as our population expands. This is a serious problem with major implications for future generations. However, there is many ways to curb overpopulation, one of them being women empowerment. Women s empowerment has four proportions: having control over their own body, education, radical and monetary. So, what can be done about human population growth? Can we really change population trends? If so can we change them without undermining the core human values and the freedom of all? (Amy Coen) There are steps that can be taken in order to solve this problem. First step is, fully realizing everyone s human rights, especially women s rights.
