(2 Cor 5:14-17) For the love of Christ
compels us, because we judge thus: that if
One died for all, then all died; {15} and He
died for all, that those who live should live
no longer for themselves, but for Him who
died for them and rose again. {16}
Therefore, from now on, we regard no one
according to the flesh. Even though we
have known Christ according to the flesh,
yet now we know Him thus no longer. {17}
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a
new creation; old things have passed
away; behold, all things have become new.
LIVING FOR JESUS
A. (1 Pet 2:21-24) For to this you were called, because
Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example,
that you should follow His steps: {22} "Who
committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His
mouth"; {23} who, when He was reviled, did not
revile in return; when He suffered, He did not
threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges
righteously; {24} who Himself bore our sins in His
own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins,
might live for righteousness; by whose stripes you
were healed.
B. (Gal 2:20) "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no
longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son
of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
I. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY
THOUGHTS ARE RIGHT?
A. DO I REALIZE WHO I AM AND WHOSE I AM? - (Rom
14:7-9) For none of us lives to himself, and no one
dies to himself. {8} For if we live, we live to the Lord;
and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether
we live or die, we are the Lord's. {9} For to this end
Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be
Lord of both the dead and the living.
B. DO I CONSTANTLY KEEP IN MIND MY GOD-GIVEN
PURPOSE? - (Phil 2:14-16) Do everything without
complaining or arguing, {15} so that you may become
blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a
crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine
like stars in the universe {16} as you hold out the word
of life-in order that I may boast on the day of Christ
that I did not run or labor for nothing.
I. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY
THOUGHTS ARE RIGHT?
C. ARE MY THOUGHTS ON HEAVEN OR EARTH? - (Col
3:1-4) If then you were raised with Christ, seek those
things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at
the right hand of God. {2} Set your mind on things
above, not on things on the earth. {3} For you died,
and your life is hidden with Christ in God. {4} When
Christ who is our life appears, then you also will
appear with Him in glory.
D. ARE MY THOUGHTS OBEDIENT TO CHRIST? - (2
Cor 10:4-5) For the weapons of our warfare are not
carnal but mighty in God for pulling down
strongholds, {5} casting down arguments and every
high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of
God, bringing every thought into captivity to the
obedience of Christ,
II. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY
ATTITUDES AND MOTIVES ARE RIGHT?
A. DO I HAVE A STRONG LOVE FOR CHRIST? - (Gal
1:10) Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or
of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still
trying to please men, I would not be a servant of
Christ.
B. DO I HAVE A STRONG LOVE FOR MAN? - (1 Cor
13:1-3) If I speak in the tongues of men and of
angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding
gong or a clanging cymbal. {2} If I have the gift of
prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all
knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move
mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. {3} If I
give all I possess to the poor and surrender my
body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
II. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY
ATTITUDES AND MOTIVES ARE RIGHT?
C. AM I HONEST AND SINCERE IN
EVERYTHING I DO? - (Phil 1:9-10) And this I
pray, that your love may abound still more
and more in knowledge and all discernment,
{10} that you may approve the things that are
excellent, that you may be sincere and
without offense till the day of Christ,
D. AM I GUARDING AGAINST PRIDE? - (James
4:6) But He gives more grace. Therefore He
says: "God resists the proud, But gives
grace to the humble.”
II. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY
ATTITUDES AND MOTIVES ARE RIGHT?
E. DO I HAVE A FORGIVING SPIRIT? - (Mat 6:12-
15) {12} And forgive us our debts, As we
forgive our debtors. {13} And do not lead us
into temptation, But deliver us from the evil
one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen. {14} "For if you
forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly
Father will also forgive you. {15} "But if you
do not forgive men their trespasses, neither
will your Father forgive your trespasses.
III. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY
ACTIONS ARE RIGHT?
A. AM I LOYAL TO THE ROYAL WITHIN ME? - (1 Pet
2:9) But you are a chosen generation, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people,
that you may proclaim the praises of Him who
called you out of darkness into His marvelous
light;
B. AM I KEEPING MY OWN VINEYARD? - (Song 1:6)
Do not stare at me because I am dark, because I
am darkened by the sun. My mother's sons were
angry with me and made me take care of the
vineyards; my own vineyard I have neglected.
III. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY
ACTIONS ARE RIGHT?
C. AM I CONSCIOUS OF MY INFLUENCE? - (1 Tim
4:12) Don't let anyone look down on you because
you are young, but set an example for the
believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in
purity.
1. The slightest breeze that ever blew, some
slender grass has wavered, and the
smallest life I ever knew, some other life
has flavored.
2. We cannot live our lives alone, for other
lives we touch
3. are strengthened by our own, or weakened
just as much!
III. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY
ACTIONS ARE RIGHT?
D. DO I SPEND MUCH TIME IN PRAYER? - (1 Th 5:16-18)
Rejoice always, {17} pray without ceasing, {18} in
everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus for you.
E. AM I DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THE LOST? - (Jude 1:21-
23) keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the
mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. {22}
And on some have compassion, making a distinction;
{23} but others save with fear, pulling them out of the
fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.
F. AM I DOING ALL IN THE NAME OF THE LORD? - (Col
3:17) And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the
name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father
through Him.
IV. AM I READY TO GIVE ACCOUNT TO GOD?
A. (1 Pet 4:14-19) If you are reproached for the name of
Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of
God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed,
but on your part He is glorified. {15} But let none of
you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a
busybody in other people's matters. {16} Yet if anyone
suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let
him glorify God in this matter. {17} For the time has
come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and
if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those
who do not obey the gospel of God? {18} Now "If the
righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the
ungodly and the sinner appear?" {19} Therefore let
those who suffer according to the will of God commit
their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful
Creator.
IV. AM I READY TO GIVE ACCOUNT TO GOD?
B. (Rom 14:11-12) For it is written: "As I live, says
the LORD, Every knee shall bow toMe, And
every tongue shall confess to God." {12} So then
each of us shall give account of himself to God.
C. (Heb 4:12-13) For the word of God is living and
powerful, and sharper than any two-edged
sword, piercing even to the division of soul and
spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the
heart. {13} And there is no creature hidden from
His sight, but all things are naked and open to
the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
