“Living Upright In An Upside Down World" - The world was turned upside down when Adam & Eve committed the first sin. By Genesis chapter 6, the world had become so wicked that God destroyed it with a flood. Only eight people were saved from the destruction. The upright have always been in the minority and with the world around us so ungodly, living an upright life can be a real challenge. - MP3 / KEYNOTE / PPT / PDF - (11/10/2013) http://w65stchurchofchrist.org/coc/
The document describes Jesus' experience on the cross based on passages from the Bible. It discusses how Jesus suffered great emotional anguish in the garden, was physically abused by the guards, was flogged, was made to wear a crown of thorns, and was ultimately crucified. The purpose was to illustrate the immense suffering and sacrifice Jesus endured to pay for humanity's sins, demonstrating God's great love for all people.
1. Noah found favor in God's eyes because he was righteous and walked with God, in contrast to the widespread wickedness and evil of others during that time.
2. To attract God's favor, one must have an intimate relationship with God through faith, manifest God's character as Noah did through integrity even when others were corrupt, and walk according to God's will as Noah tried to conduct his affairs according to God's will.
3. Walking with God through faith, righteousness, and obedience to His will allows one to gain God's approval and receive His divine kindness and blessings.
The document discusses how to renew one's mind through transforming harmful habits and thoughts by making choices to die to oneself daily, developing godly routines of prayer and meditation, and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead one's mind to focus on Jesus Christ. Scriptures are referenced about the dangers of an unrenewed mind and the importance of transformation through spiritual renewal.
Faith has always existed from the beginning as revealed in the Old Testament, and is shown to be the means by which patriarchs like Abraham believed God and took action. The document argues that faith is the body of revealed truths and knowledge of Jesus Christ found in the Bible that transforms lives and allows believers to understand and obey God's instructions for salvation. Proper faith leads to obedience of God's law as revealed in Scripture alone.

This document discusses how Christians should live in light of the imminent return of Jesus Christ. It examines different views on the rapture and tribulation period. The key points are:
1. Every generation of Christians believed Jesus was coming during their lifetime, based on signs in the Bible.
2. The document reviews passages suggesting the rapture occurs mid-tribulation or post-tribulation, not pre-tribulation as many believe.
3. Based on Jesus' teachings, Christians should live in constant readiness for His return, providing for others and making prudent preparations, rather than ignoring the signs of the times. How Christians live should reflect their eagerness to see Him.
Why do you think Rahab is listed among the “heroes” of faith in Hebrews 11? Do you feel that some sins in your past or present are so terrible that they can’t be forgiven or that you are unworthy to serve God? How does Rahab’s story encourage you? What was the emotional state of the people in Jericho? (Josh. 2:9, 11; 6:1) How did this confirm God’s promises in Deut. l:21, 29–31? Read carefully Josh. 2:9–13. What did Rahab know about Israel's history? How long before had the Red Sea been crossed? (Ex. l4). How long before had Sihon and Og been conquered? (Deut. 2:26-3:ll) What did Rahab specifically say she believed about the God of Israel? What is impressive about her faith? Could anyone else in Jericho have come to the same conclusions?
Christian discipleship involves a lifelong transformation process of following Jesus' teachings. It requires accepting Jesus as master, attaching oneself to him, committing to him, and maintaining a lifelong relationship with him. True discipleship means internalizing Jesus' teachings so that pleasing God influences all areas of one's life. The goal is to move from an ideal self to becoming one's actual self in Christ. Discipleship is a personal relationship with Christ, not just mental knowledge, and involves hearing from Jesus, obeying him, enjoying time with him, and coming to know him more deeply.
This document discusses building better relationships with God, others, family, and community. It provides biblical passages about unity from Ephesians and emphasizes making every effort to keep unity. It lists several ways to build unity, such as having the right attitude, speaking truth in love, forgiving others, and refusing to partner with those unwilling to change. The document stresses that what joins us is more important than what divides us and provides tips for dealing with disunity or wanting to be a spiritual mentor to others. It concludes that unity commands blessing.
Pre Encounter Lesson 4: Benefits of the New BirthRhea Deligero
The document discusses the benefits of being born again through faith in Jesus Christ. It lists 7 main benefits: 1) Having a relationship with God as his children; 2) Understanding our true identity as God's children; 3) Being eternally secured with our names written in the Book of Life; 4) Having the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit; 5) Being able to live a Godly life; 6) Being able to see and hear in the spirit; 7) Being able to enter into the fullness of the Kingdom of God. The overall message is that being born again through faith in Jesus Christ brings many spiritual benefits and advantages.
The document discusses the power and importance of the blood of Christ. It makes three key points: 1) Christ's blood has the power to purchase his church and redeem believers. 2) His blood has the power to forgive sins, as animal sacrifices under the Old Law could not fully forgive. 3) Christ's blood continues to cleanse believers of sins, so long as they walk in the light. The document argues that Christ's blood is applied to believers at baptism, when they are baptized into his death and resurrection, allowing them to walk in newness of life.
An overview of the bible
Since the beginning of time, there has been a plan for Jesus and our souls. God’s plan is revealed throughout the entire Bible! Many view the Old and New Testaments as unrelated, but there is an amazing message that begins in the Old Testament and carries through to the New Testament. The message is of God’s love and man’s redemption. That is what this booklet is about. I hope it will be an encouragement to you.
If you have any questions about the material in this booklet or would like to study further, please get into contact with me.
The document discusses the person and work of the Holy Spirit according to scripture. It describes the Holy Spirit as the third person of the Trinity, who is eternal, omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent. The Holy Spirit works in believers to empower them, enable righteousness and fruit of the spirit, and give gifts to serve God and witness to others. Speaking in tongues is mentioned as a potential gift from being filled with the Holy Spirit.
Prayer with Fasting, The Fasted LifestyleButch Yulo
This document discusses prayer and fasting. It begins by recalling Exodus 19 where God appeared to the Israelites on Mount Sinai. It then shows pictures of Mount Sinai today, which is still burnt from God's presence. This establishes that God's glory was real.
It discusses how Jesus taught his disciples to pray to God as their loving Father. This was revolutionary since Jews never addressed God this way. Jesus also taught they could ask the Father for the Holy Spirit. The Lord's Prayer outlines all aspects of life.
The document contrasts prayer as talking to the Father, versus interceding before God as priests. It suggests intercession requires more earnest prayer, as seen in how Paul and others prayed fervently for
“Being used by God
is not confined to pastors, preachers or teachers. Anybody can be an instrument
in God's hands.”
God can use anybody, believer or nonbeliever.
The document summarizes the full armor of God described in Ephesians 6:10-18. It explains each piece of armor: the belt of truth refers to relying on God's word as truth; the breastplate of righteousness protects the heart and comes from having a right standing with God through Jesus; peace in the gospel protects the feet; faith acts as a shield against attacks; salvation through Jesus protects the mind; and the sword of the Spirit, God's word, is used to fight spiritual battles. It emphasizes relying on God's power and truth rather than human understanding alone.
Tomorrow we are starting a new series of study:
“The New Man” is a seminar that will focus on the spirit of man, its soul and its body.
We will learn the properties of each one of these three parts of man.
Our spirit is called to be the ruling part of us, actually, our spirit is the main part of our being, and is the place where the spirit of God dwells in.
We meet in Room #3 at CTF Toronto Wednesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. I invite you to come and participate with us in this discovery of how to let our spirit become the ruler of our life.
Fear is a big giant that many struggle with. In this first message we identify what fear is and how it affects our lives. We close with encouragement that we can all overcome fear!

The document discusses self-control, which is identified as a fruit of the Spirit. It provides several biblical references to self-control and defines it as mastery over one's desires and passions. The document outlines how self-control relates to sacrificial service, spiritual warfare over the mind and body, and enabling godly living through God's grace. Exercising self-control is important for withstanding worldly and fleshly temptations and remaining focused on doing God's will.
This document provides information about a learning to prophesy seminar happening that evening from 7-9pm. It begins by defining prophecy as speaking out the mind of God under divine inspiration. It then discusses what prophecy means according to the Bible and dictionaries, including that it involves edifying, exhorting, and comforting people as well as restoring God's image in them. The document emphasizes that prophecy comes from having God at the center of one's heart and being filled with His love, so that His love can then be poured out to others. It concludes by having attendees declare prophecies over each other based on Bible verses provided and encourages reading Isaiah 49:1-3 in preparation for sharing next week.
Make Me A Servant
Make me a servant Lord, make me like you
For you are a servant, make me one, too.
Make me a servant, do what you must do
To make me a servant, make me like you.
To love my brother, to serve like you do.
I humble my spirit, I bow before yo.
And through my service, I'll be just like you.
So make me a servant, make me like you.
Open my hands Lord and teach me to share
Open my heart Lord and teach me to care,
For service to others is service to you.
Make me a servant, make me like you.
The document discusses biblical figures who operated in the spirit of might, including Samson, David, and Jesus. It provides several examples from the Old and New Testaments of these figures' mighty acts performed through the spirit of God working through them: Samson tore a lion with his hands and killed 1000 men with a donkey's jawbone. David killed a lion and bear with his hands as a shepherd and defeated Goliath. Jesus performed many miracles that confounded his enemies and had power over nature, demons, disease, and death. The document emphasizes that true might and power comes from God's spirit, not physical strength.
This document provides an overview of the costs and rewards of discipleship according to Christian teachings. It discusses how discipleship requires undivided loyalty to Christ above all else, and being willing to suffer persecution for one's faith. It also emphasizes the importance of self-discipline and overcoming sin. While the path of discipleship is difficult, it promises imperishable rewards in heaven like eternal life in God's presence without suffering. The document encourages weighing the gains of faith against worldly attractions.
The document discusses the "Armour of God" and how Christians can protect themselves by putting on each piece of spiritual armor that God provides, including the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, sandals of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, sword of the spirit (God's word), and prayer. It provides scriptural references for each piece of armor and explanations of how understanding and trusting in each aspect of the armor enables victory over spiritual battles and deception.
The document summarizes the biblical story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who refused to worship King Nebuchadnezzar's golden statue and were thrown into a fiery furnace as punishment. However, they were unharmed in the fire and a fourth figure appeared with them. Upon seeing this miracle, the king acknowledged their God as the greatest and that those who trust in him will be protected. The story teaches that true believers see God as higher than any person or thing and are willing to face death for his honor.

The document provides an in-depth summary and analysis of Paul's letter to the Galatians chapter 2. It discusses Paul defending his apostolic authority, his meeting with the apostles in Jerusalem, confronting Peter in Antioch for separating himself from Gentile believers, and emphasizing that salvation comes through faith in Christ, not by works of the law.
This document provides guidance on discerning God's will, particularly regarding marriage. It outlines several primary and secondary resources for guidance, including the Holy Spirit, Bible, providence, conscience, and counsel of others. The main points are:
1) Knowing God's will is a basic right and mark of being His child, and He is willing to reveal it through various means.
2) Discerning God's will regarding marriage involves one's relationship with God, self-discovery of purpose, and having attention drawn to the matter or a person.
3) The Holy Spirit provides inner witness through instruction, counsel, and impressions, especially when one's spirit is saturated in God's word and prayer.
Let’s look at a man who had God’s hand in his life. Ezra sought the word of God, applied the word of God and taught the word of God therefore, the Lord was with him and blessed him. Ezra 7:10.
For Teenagers: What is prayer and how do I pray?Chris Yeo
This document provides guidance on memorizing Bible verses and instructions for prayer. It includes a list of 20 Bible verses that all members will memorize in 2014. It also provides 3 lessons on prayer, addressing why pray, when to pray, and praying for others. The document encourages focusing prayer on glorifying God rather than personal benefits. It suggests using the Lord's Prayer as a model and balancing different elements like worship, praise, requests, and thanksgiving.
The document contains several passages from the Bible that use the phrase "Do you not know?" Each passage is highlighting something that Christians should understand, such as being baptized into Christ's death, being slaves either to sin or righteousness, and that friendship with the world is against God. The overall message is that Christians are expected to know and understand these fundamental truths revealed in scripture.
I Corinthians 14:37-38 God does not want us to be ignorant of concern for others, God's righteousness, the hardening of Israel, the possibility of our falling, spiritual gifts, what others do for us, Satan's Devices, the resurrection.
2 Corinthians 5:14-17. Are you ready to live for Jesus.
I. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY THOUGHTS ARE RIGHT?
II. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY ATTITUDES AND MOTIVES ARE RIGHT?
III. AM I SEEING TO IT THAT MY ACTIONS ARE RIGHT?
IV. AM I READY TO GIVE ACCOUNT TO GOD?
The document discusses the essential doctrines of biblical discernment including recognizing the Bible as God's inspired and inerrant word with authority, the greatness of God and his son Jesus Christ who lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose again, as well as the role of the Holy Spirit. It also covers the essentials of the gospel including a right view of sin, oneself, and salvation by grace through faith alone. The document provides guidance for handling non-essential doctrines with humility, searching scripture, consulting others, and prioritizing the gospel.
1) The document discusses what it takes to be a good Christian soldier based on passages from the Bible. It says Christians must be tough, fight to the finish, follow Jesus's example of sacrifice, and forsake their own ambitions.
2) It outlines five characteristics of a good soldier: being tough and free to fight, fighting to the finish, following Jesus's example, proclaiming total allegiance to God, and forsaking personal ambitions.
3) It encourages readers to fully surrender and commit themselves to God to begin fighting for Him as good soldiers.
What Do You See In The Crucifixion of Jesus? Man's Only Hope For Salvation!Don McClain
Are there many ways to God? Are there different roads to heaven? In this study we will examine these questions and we will also focus on what the Bible teaches regarding what we must do in order to benefit from the crucifixion of Jesus. I would like to encourage you to not only view the charts - but also listen to this series.
The document discusses the concept of liberty from a biblical perspective. It begins by examining passages from Galatians that describe how believers have been called to liberty, but should not use their freedom to indulge their sinful desires. Instead, they are to serve one another through love. The document then explores several aspects of liberty, including its source as a calling from God (section I); the need for caution to avoid using liberty as a "cloak for vice" (section II); and how believers should conduct themselves by living according to the Spirit rather than the flesh (section III). It acknowledges the internal conflict between the flesh and Spirit (section IV). Ultimately, liberty comes through being led by the Spirit rather than living under the law
The document discusses the distinction between sins and sin based on passages from Romans and Galatians. It states that while God readily forgives sins or acts of disobedience, sin refers to our sinful nature which God cannot forgive. True salvation requires dying to sin and being born again of the Spirit so that the old sinful self is crucified and we live a new life in Christ. Feelings do not determine faith, which must be exercised through obedience to God's will.

The document discusses how true believers must die to sin and self through baptism and crucifixion of the flesh, just as Christ died and was resurrected. It emphasizes that feeling and faith are distinct, and we must exercise faith in God's word rather than relying on feelings. True victory over sin comes through fully surrendering one's life and crucifying the flesh, allowing the Holy Spirit to work inwardly and manifest outwardly in conduct that witnesses to Christ.

V. YOU ARE NOT DOING WHAT YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD
VI. YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN SAVING SOULS

This document contains several Bible passages about reconciliation with God and others. It discusses how God reconciled humanity to himself through Jesus' death on the cross. It emphasizes the importance of forgiving others as God forgives, resolving conflicts quickly, and being reconciled with brothers before making an offering to God. The passages convey that repentance and forgiveness are necessary to be reconciled with God and receive eternal life.
1) If Christ was not raised from the dead, then Christian preaching is empty and faith is in vain.
2) If Christ was not raised, believers are still in their sins and those who died believing in Christ have perished.
3) However, Christ was raised from the dead, as demonstrated by his post-resurrection appearances to his disciples and over 500 others. His resurrection is the central message of Christianity.

The document discusses how baptism truly changes everything. It summarizes that through baptism we are changed into Jesus' image as we are transformed to be conformed to his likeness. Baptism changes our relationships, attitudes, and directions in life as we become new creations in Christ, putting on Christ and putting off our old sinful nature.
The War Within: Spiritual Warfare (Part V)David Turner
The document discusses the battle between the flesh and spirit within Christians. It notes that while Christians still sin due to their fleshly nature, the spirit has conquered through Christ. The spirit provides victory over sin for those who walk by it rather than their flesh. Christians now have freedom and can please God by living according to the spirit and its fruit, rather than the desires of the flesh. The spirit within believers gives them life and power to overcome their sinful flesh.
The document discusses the importance of having a testimony for God and living your life for Christ rather than yourself. It emphasizes that as Christians, we belong to God and will give an account of how we lived our lives and stood for our faith. It encourages living faithfully for Christ so that one's testimony and reputation will draw others to Him, despite any past failures or imperfections, as God can use anyone who is willing.
The document discusses the obligation of Christians to "go" as part of the Great Commission given by Jesus. It explains that Jesus commanded the apostles and early church to go and spread the gospel to all nations. Today, this obligation belongs to all Christians. We should go because Jesus commanded it, we love the truth and souls, and we want to prioritize our faith. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all want the gospel to be shared with all people. Christians can go in any lawful way using modern technologies. We are to go now and for our whole lives after proper preparation, in order to save as many as possible before death.
1) The document discusses Romans 8:1 and how there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
2) It provides context from the preceding chapters in Romans about mankind's sinfulness and God's wrath, before concluding that through faith in Jesus, believers are no longer under condemnation.
3) The passage emphasizes that for Christians, there is assurance now that they will not face future judgment, but rather are secure in their salvation through Christ.
Genesis 47:13-15 Now there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine. 14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house. 15 So when the money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, "Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For the money has failed." There are a number of reasons that money fails.
I beseech you – beg, urge, encourage, appeal
By the mercies of God – compassion
Present your bodies a living sacrifice – as opposed to a sacrifice of death
Holy, Acceptable to God – pure, without spot or blemish
Your reasonable service – since Christ died for us we should live our lives for him. 2 Corinthians 5:15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
John 3:16 is the most quoted and most remembered scripture from the bible.
Did you know that there are a number of other 3:16 verses that relate to and are very important to our spiritual lives and our living for Jesus?
Tonight we are going to look at some of those 3:16 scriptures.
Philippians 1:9-11 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Fear is common to all. We all fear something. Some fear is God given. Children come into this world with a fear of heights and of loud noises. Some fears are there to protect us from physical harm: snakes, darkness, suffocation, being burned, death, etc. In christians, most fear is a tool of satan

Brotherly love mus be worked at to achieve. problems in the church are either directly or indirectly connected to lack of love for one another. love is the key to a growing or even a surviving church.

We are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works. We are blessed for doing God's work. We are to speak and do. Faith without works is dead. Faith is shown by our works.
Jonah is a book about god's desire to save the lost and man's role in that. there are some great lessons taught in the book of Jonah. We will look at questions Jonah was asked in the book and ask those questions of ourselves.
we all need motivation at times. what motivates you? Paul said 5 things to the brethren at Rome to motivate them to continue their service no matter how great the suffering became. the good always outweighs the bad. the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. God's providence works for us. Judgment is on our behalf. the love of God is on our behalf.
Repentance is a change in your allegiance, your expectations, your values, your priorities, your mission and your morals. can you say there has been a change in your life since you met the Lord?
Isaiah 9:6-7 Jesus would be called or known as wonderful. Wonderful in His birth. Wonderful in His miracles. Wonderful in His teachings. Wonderful in His resistance to sin. Wonderful in His accomplishing His work. Wonderful in His fulfilling prophecies. Wonderful in His sacrifice. Wonderful in His resurrection. Wonderful is His Name.
Isaiah 9:6-7 Jesus would be called or known as Mighty God. Prophecies said he would be God. John said He was Creator and God. Jesus claimed to be God. Thomas said He was God. Paul said He was Creator. Paul called Him God. John said Jesus was the True God.

I John 2:28-3:3 Tests for Christians. Do you abide in Christ? Do you practice righteousness? Who knows you? Are you a child of God? Are you pure, just as He is pure? What is your identity?
I John 4:1-6 tests for christians 3 - the test of false teaching. Bluffing your way. Do you confess the Son? Do you listen to the Son? Do you obey the Son? Do you pass the test?
Ephesians 3:14-21 How big is your God? The ability of my God is boundless. The ability of my God goes beyond my prayers. The ability of my God is beyond my ability to imagine. The ability of my God is manifested in the lives of His people. The ability of my God is seen through His glorious church. The ability of my God is eternal.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Trusting God's Providence | Verse: Romans 8: 28-31JL de Belen
Trusting God's Providence.
Providence - God’s active preservation and care over His creation. God is both the Creator and the Sustainer of all things Heb. 1:2-3; Col. 1:17
-God keep His promises.
-God’s general providence is toward all creation
- All things were made through Him
God’s special providence is toward His children.
We may suffer now, but joy can and will come
God can see what we cannot see
The Book of Samuel is a book in the Hebrew Bible, found as two books in the Old Testament. The book is part of the Deuteronomistic history, a series of books that constitute a theological history of the Israelites and that aim to explain God's law for Israel under the guidance of the prophets.
2. Galatians 2:17-20 But if, while we seek to
be justified by Christ, we ourselves also
are found sinners, is Christ therefore a
minister of sin? Certainly not! (18) For if I
build again those things which I
destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
(19) For I through the law died to the law
that I might live to God. (20) I have been
crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who
live, but Christ lives in me; and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live by faith
in the Son of God, who loved me and
gave Himself for me.
3. THE CRUCIFIED LIFE
A. Galatians 5:24-25 And those who are Christ's have
crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (25) If
we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
B. Galatians 6:14-15 But God forbid that I should boast
except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom
the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
(15) For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor
uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation.
C. Romans 6:5-7 For if we have been united together in
the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in
the likeness of His resurrection, (6) knowing this, that
our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of
sin might be done away with, that we should no longer
be slaves of sin. (7) For he who has died has been
freed from sin.
D. The crucified life involves...
4. I. Living Right
A. 2 Corinthians 5:14-17 For the love of Christ
compels us, because we judge thus: that if
One died for all, then all died; (15) and He
died for all, that those who live should live no
longer for themselves, but for Him who died
for them and rose again. (16) Therefore, from
now on, we regard no one according to the
flesh. Even though we have known Christ
according to the flesh, yet now we know Him
thus no longer. (17) Therefore, if anyone is in
Christ, he is a new creation; old things have
passed away; behold, all things have become
new.
5. I. Living Right
B. Romans 6:1-14 What shall we say then? Shall we
continue in sin that grace may abound? (2)
Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live
any longer in it? (3) Or do you not know that as
many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus
were baptized into His death? (4) Therefore we
were buried with Him through baptism into death,
that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the
glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life. (5) For if we have been united
together in the likeness of His death, certainly we
also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, (6)
knowing this, that our old man was crucified with
Him, that the body of sin might be done away with,
that we should no longer be slaves of sin. (7) For
he who has died has been freed from sin. >>>
6. I. Living Right
(8) Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we
shall also live with Him, (9) knowing that Christ,
having been raised from the dead, dies no more.
Death no longer has dominion over Him. (10) For
the death that He died, He died to sin once for all;
but the life that He lives, He lives to God. (11)
Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead
indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our
Lord. (12) Therefore do not let sin reign in your
mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. (13)
And do not present your members as instruments
of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves
to God as being alive from the dead, and your
members as instruments of righteousness to God.
(14) For sin shall not have dominion over you, for
you are not under law but under grace.
7. II. Speaking Right.
A. Colossians 4:5-6 (5) Walk in wisdom toward those who
are outside, redeeming the time. (6) Let your speech
always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you
may know how you ought to answer each one.
B. Ephesians 4:11-16 And He Himself gave some to be
apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some
pastors and teachers, ….. (14) that we should no
longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about
with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in
the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, (15) but,
speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things
into Him who is the head--Christ-- (16) from whom the
whole body, joined and knit together by what every
joint supplies, according to the effective working by
which every part does its share, causes growth of the
body for the edifying of itself in love.
8. III. Thinking Right.
A. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 For though we walk in the flesh,
we do not war according to the flesh. (4) For the
weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in
God for pulling down strongholds, (5) casting down
arguments and every high thing that exalts itself
against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought
into captivity to the obedience of Christ, (6) and being
ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience
is fulfilled.
B. Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brethren, whatever things are
true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are
just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are
lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is
any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--
meditate on these things. (9) The things which you
learned and received and heard and saw in me, these
do, and the God of peace will be with you.
9. IV. Treating Others Right.
A.Galatians 6:9-10 And let us not grow
weary while doing good, for in due season
we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (10)
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us
do good to all, especially to those who are
of the household of faith.
10. IV. Treating Others Right.
B. Luke 10:30-37 Then Jesus answered and
said: "A certain man went down from
Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among
thieves, who stripped him of his clothing,
wounded him, and departed, leaving him half
dead. (31) Now by chance a certain priest
came down that road. And when he saw him,
he passed by on the other side. (32) Likewise
a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came
and looked, and passed by on the other side.
(33) But a certain Samaritan, as he
journeyed, came where he was. And when he
saw him, he had compassion. >>>
11. IV. Treating Others Right.
(34) So he went to him and bandaged his
wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set
him on his own animal, brought him to an
inn, and took care of him. (35) On the next
day, when he departed, he took out two
denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said
to him, 'Take care of him; and whatever more
you spend, when I come again, I will repay
you.' (36) So which of these three do you
think was neighbor to him who fell among
the thieves?" (37) And he said, "He who
showed mercy on him." Then Jesus said to
him, "Go and do likewise."
12. V. Dying Right
A.Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the
LORD Is the death of His saints.
B.Revelation 14:12-13 Here is the patience of
the saints; here are those who keep the
commandments of God and the faith of
Jesus. (13) Then I heard a voice from
heaven saying to me, "Write: 'Blessed are
the dead who die in the Lord from now on.'
" "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest
from their labors, and their works follow
them."
13. HAVE YOU BEEN CRUCIFIED
WITH CHRIST?
A.Are you living right?
B.Are you speaking right?
C.Are you thinking right?
D.Are you treating others right?
E. Are you going to die right?
