Arctic Wolf
Wolves are one of the smartest, and fiercest animals alive. Wolves are known for being great at
hunting, and very dangerous and mysterious. I'm here to tell you how the life of a wolf is, and how
they're not dangerous to us humans. Wolves mainly live in the Arctic, North America, Europe, and
Asia. Like in the Arctic, and North America they've learned to survive on fat stored amongst their
bodies. There are over 12,000 wolves that live in Europe like the Eurasian wolf, a Russian Forest
Wolf which is a type of grey wolf. In Asia grey wolves used to live there but now most just live in
Asian countries. They also in the forest because there's a lot more to prey on, and it's easier to adapt

The alpha of the pack really just picks the animal to go after and whether its poorly he'll choose to
stop. The younger wolves stand back and watch how it's done so when they're older they know
exactly to hunt prey, and survive. Wolves often change their prey is in bad condition, or it's not
exactly what they wanted. The wolves like to herd up their prey and usually wait a couple of days
before they make their move. Wolves like to find signs of weakness, and

Argumentative Essay On Grey Wolf
For years, the Gray Wolf has been a sore subject for many. The controversy comes with those who
fight for the protection to conserve this species and those who see the Gray Wolf as a threat to
humans and their form of survival. Both arguments are logical and both sides seem to be supported
by evidence. The biggest controversy comes with the first proposed delisting of the Gray wolf. This
paper will outline the biology and ecology of the Gray Wolf as well as the causes for the decline of
the species and the reasons to keep this species alive. How can a wolf do harm and at the same time
do so much good to the ecosystem?
The Gray wolf is the largest canids in the wild, usually weighing between 70 and 120 lbs. They vary

Packs include the alpha pair (mother and father), their pups, and older offspring and have strong
social bonds with each other. The alpha male and female are typically the ones to track and hunt prey
chose den sites and establish pack territory. To be successful, wolves have a strong communication
system ranging from barks and whine to growls and howls. They communicate with each other by
visual signaling like facial expressions, body position, tail positions to vocalizations and scent
markings. Howling helps the pack stay in contact and also seems to strengthen social

Creative Writing: The God Of Veles
"So, does it look like it is killing me?" I asked Neb. He didn't say anything. Neither did Vlada. They
were both staring at the wolf. "What's up with you two?" I said and looked at the wolf too. The
ornament started glowing, and every strand of fur on the wolf actually became soft. The muscular
neck was warm, and it seemed like the wolf was alive. I mean, seriously alive. "Thank you for
saving me" a low voice rumbled. "How? You can talk?!" I was totally surprised. This kind of
surprize when you're hit by a lighting. "How can't I talk to the daughter of Veles? The flock of Earth
is loyal to you for ever." "The god of the Underworld is one of the most powerful gods" whispered
Vlada. "Let's get it clear. So you, a creature made of clay, were fighting a bird.." ... Show more

We are searching for its feather so it will stop the conflict between the gods! Where did it go?" "You

wolf. Neb interrupted us, "But we need to find it!" "Well", sighed the wolf," Friends of the halfblood
are my friends. Touch the colovrat, everyone!" As soon as we followed, the floor fell down
somewhere really far. Bright orange and black flashes covered the reality. In a fraction of a second I
was lying on terribly soft, dark–green grass. It smelled like pine sap and ripe wild strawberries. Also,
it smelled like magic. Yes, I'm serious. A thin veil of enchantment was hanging over the forest.
"Where in the world are we?" asked Neb, shaking the leaves off his head. "The world of spirits. You
know the monsters you fought your entire life? They sometimes break the thin wall between the
worlds. That's what we just did." answered the wolf. "Let's go! I think I know where the firebird
lives!" exclaimed Vlada. She was heading to the gigantic white rock that rose over the forest. The

Farley Mowats The Role Of Wolves In The Wild
About a century ago, a man by the name of Farley Mowat was sent to the frozen wilderness of
Canada to examine the actions of wolves and how their survival affects the plummeting of the
caribou herds. While studying a pack of seven, he acquired a deep feeling of admiration for this
certain pack of wolves. Almost halfway through the novel, Mowat gives each of the three adults a
name that goes along with their role in the family. While living near a pack of seven wolves, Mowat
soon realizes that they are not at fault for the decline in caribou society, as a matter of fact, they are
doing quite the opposite. There is something far more powerful than wolves harming the population.
Human kind itself is destroying the community of our nature. "I kept coming up with the fantastic
figure of 112,000 animals killed by trappers in this area every year"(Page 86). With all the hunters
and trappers in Keewatin, the population of most animals are immensely falling downward. Over the
months, Mowat observes the wolves during their play time, how they hunt along with feeding the
growing pups, and how they survive. After all, wolves are not what they are said to be. After
realizing that wolves are not the problem, Mowat notices that wolves are actually ... Show more

But, as he carries on with his examination, Mowat deflates most of the false accusations brought
upon wolves. Everyone has always assumed that wolves are dangerous and savage killers. But,
Mowat's findings did not fulfill the requirements of the information that the government wanted.
Never Cry Wolf is a novel that identifies the true behavior of wolves and how humans misunderstand
their being. At one point in the story, some trappers kill over twenty–three caribou and deer just
trying to frame the wolves for the decrease in the caribou community. After all, wolves have always
been thought of as dangerous predators; this theory has been believed for hundreds of

or be killed. In the beginning of the book Call of The Wild, buck has to learn how to survive, kill,
and make friends in the wild. First, Buck learns the law of survival. For example, he has many
challenges in his new life. Since he payed attention to what happened to curly, he stayed on his feet

Protect the Gray Wolves Essay
Protect the Gray Wolves Long before the settlers started to make the United States their home,
"American Indians lived long beside the Gray Wolf before settlers started to come here." (Rowe,
Mark) The wolf is native to the North American continent and has been inhabiting its land for
centuries. It is a canid species, or member of the canine family and is a cunning, smart, fast, and sly
animal. Gray wolves range in color from black, brown, gray, and white and also look like a grown
German Shepherd. They are well known for traveling in family sizes from 7–9 wolves, led by the
alpha male and have a mate. They are a fierce animal that has been researched extensively because
of their unique qualities and that they are near extinction. Early ... Show more content on

These were all key factors to their near extinction. In 1974 the wolves were placed under the
Endangered Species Act (ESA), but were not protected for long. Many environmentalist agreed with
this act because environmentalist knew how crucial this keystone specie was to the ecosystem.
Without the grey wolves existence, the whole rest of the ecosystem would not function properly.
Unfortunately, around the 1960s, the gray wolf population was basically extinct, which resulted in a
huge controversy. Luckily, "In 1995, the first 14 wolves were introduced to the Yellowstone National
Park to increase the wolf population"(Transplanted) that had been decreasing gradually. Over the
years more Canadian wolves were introduced to the Yellowstone National park to increase the wolf
population. This procedure was successful because the wolf population throughout the Yellowstone
region was on the rise. The long term goal for the environmentalists and Yellowstone park rangers
would be to have around 1,000 wolves roaming the region. The declining wolf population has turned
around and is now increasing at a steady pace. The National Park Service says "During the 1980s,
wolves began to reestablish breeding packs in Northwestern Montana; 50–60 wolves inhabited
Montana in 1994."(NPS) We are very fortunate for the quick acts of transferring the wolves from
Canada down to the Yellowstone National Park and to the intense research that has been done

trying to find an opportunity to strike. Once he found his moment, Dorian clenched his right fist
tightly sending a punch at the wolf creature. The creature turned its head towards Dorian, avoiding
the punch and biting his arm. Dorian's body started to become visible again, watching the blood drip

Wolves In Canada
This essay will cover 3 main points. The first point is what kind of wolves will you find in Canada,
and a brief description of different names and what they look like. My Second point will cover what
issues wolves are facing in canada today, because wolves are becoming and already are extinct as i'm
writing this essay, this point will tell you why they are becoming extinct, and why it is hard for them
to move forward and become larger, and not become extinct. My third point will cover what
important wolves have to the first nations, including spiritual beliefs and what they mean to the first
nations.
There are few types of wolves that live in canada. The wolves that are left in Canada we should
cherish, because soon they will become so rare, that there population could be whipped out. Firstly
there is the Arctic wolf, which is usually found up North where it is cold in Canada, the Arctic
wolves have beautiful thick white fur. The second wolf that i will tell you about is the grey wolf, the
grey wolf is a more common wolf but none the less gorgeous with its gray and black fur. The grey
wolfs used to roam the united states, but almost all of them were exterminated. Now the grey wolves
habitat is excluded to Canada, Alaska, the Great Lakes, northern Rockies and Pacific Northwest. The

Who Is The Gray Wolf: Hero Or Villain?
Wolves Wolves are beautiful creatures to look at. They may seem like mean animals that attack just
about anyone but that is not true for some claims. Wolves are sometimes misunderstood. They are
described as a villain in many folklores. Today we will learn facts about wolves. We will learn how
they come in all shapes and color, how folklores ruin their reputation, and how the wolves value
family just as much as humans do. For the first fact of many, wolves come in all shapes and sizes
also in colors. Wolves are the largest animal in the Canis family. The ancestor of the present day gray
wolf is the Dire Wolf which roamed the plant during the prehistoric era. Wolves come in a variety of
brown, gray, black, and white. The most common wolf is the Gray Wolf. The grey wolf has also been

Wolves live in a 4–7 member pack and each have important roles. Wolves take care of their young.
Wolves, who are assigned as a nurses will nurse the leader's pups. The pups are raised by the lower
ranks in the packs. Sometimes the omegas care for the young and are usually females. Only the
alphas can breed. In a pack two main pair are the only ones allowed to breed. Sometimes the lowest
rank tries to fight for alpha. In most packs wolves who are in the lowest of ranks get picked on and
they usually leave the pack to make a new one or they will fight the alpha to gain the alpha title.
Within the pack there are different roles. The pack roles are sometimes divided by the alphas. The
pack is ranked by the leader, beta, than omegas. The leaders are usually dominated mating pairs. The
betas are usually the second in command and the omegas are the lowest ranks where they look after
the young, get picked on, and will leave the pack. Within the pack are other roles like nursing the
pups, scouts, etc. Unlike the omegas, wolves who are nursing don't get picked on because they are

The Pros And Cons Of Wolves
In May, 2016, 20 calves were killed and not eaten in four days in the area of the Absaroka
Mountains, outside of Pinedale Wyoming. (Urbigkit ,2016) However, it doesn't stop there, every day
livestock and wildlife are killed and rarely eaten by wolves in almost every western state. This is a
problem that needs to be addressed before ranchers lose their herds, and before the wild herds are
depleted beyond restoration. If the wolf situation was bad a couple years ago, well now it's worse,
even some of the "protectors of wildlife" are starting to come to their senses. Livestock is the most
expensive prey that wolves can get to, and the problem is that they get to them very easy and can
escape because they have no reason to come back to the kill. ... Show more content on

Wolves need to be managed and if they are not addressed they will continue to roam free of charge
and deplete the livestock herds. Even beyond that our generation of families won't feel safe letting
our grandchildren run around. The wolves have mass killed 19 elk in one night, slaughtered
countless numbers of livestock and in places threatened people. "In the rural town of Reserve, New
Mexico kids wait for the bus in wooden and metal cages, meant to protect the kids from wolf
attacks." (Toft, 2016). You may think is this is unnecessary, until you see and hear about the wolves
growling and snarling at the frightened children. If this doesn't change your opinions on wolves
maybe you should sit in the cage and live in the wild with them. It's a sad time when the most
important thing you walk out of the house with is not your coat or anything it's your weapon, so you
can defend your family, home, and livelihood. As communities and stewards of the land our duty is
to protect as well as manage, we as hunters are managing, however the wolves are not being
managed correctly, and are getting away with the minor scolding of words that they cannot
comprehend from the government. I'm not saying eradicate them but certainly allow the ranchers and
such to shoot wolves, and for the government to take charge and trap, shoot, and dart these

Summary Of Beast Of Waste And Desolation '
In "The Beast of Waste and Desolation" in Barry Holstun Lopez's book Of Wolves and Men, he
writes about the attitudes he encountered from people when discussing wolves. These attitudes came
from several different sources, ranging from several different Native American tribes and field
biologists to ranchers, trappers, and general residents of the areas where he conducted his research.
Lopez expressed his discomfort when he spoke with the latter group, as those people that felt there
was nothing wrong with killing wolves, and that the practice, overall, was a good thing. Lopez writes
that it seemed many of these people appeared to be filled with a general hatred; of government, laws,
and wolves. The killing of wolves held a vengeful element, with no remorse or regret. He goes into
detail of the single–minded persecution of the wolf, even though many of the conflicts with wolves
were man made. One example provided was of man depleting many of the wolves' natural prey
sources like elk and buffalo, and as a result the wolves turned to preying on the domestic stock
instead. Suddenly, man was justified in killing wolves as it became necessary to protect livestock.

Lopez's writing is important to my paper because he documents the social and psychological history
of human interactions with wolves. Mr. Lopez has been a highly respected authority on human and
wolf interactions, and his first hand research for Of Wolves and Men was extensive. His recounting
of the vicious and cruel treatment that wolves were subjected to documents the almost
incomprehensible evil the human animal is capable of. This information helps present the mindset
that many people have carried forward to today, and illustrates the irrational fear and hatred humans
still exhibit when dealing with wolves. He gave a startling and alarming window into the human
mind, and clearly demonstrates the resistance the wolf reintroduction and recovery efforts had to go

The Wolf: Society's Conflicted Relationship With Nature
Regarded and castigated, the wolf emblematizes society's conflicted relationship with nature. A
bronze statue of a wolf guarded the shrine of Apollo at Delphi; a wolf hunts down a child in Little
Red Riding Hood. Plains Indians admired the wolf as a remarkable hunter, as well as a guide to the
spirit world; American settlers slaughtered more than a million wolves during the 1800s. Trappers
killed wolves that breached their traplines and sold the pelts for a dollar apiece. Stockmen's
associations awarded bounties for dead wolves. The slaughter was advocated by an ancient
antagonism. Even Teddy Roosevelt, the cowboy conservationist, called the wolf a "beast of waste
and desolation" and hunted it fiercely. In the 1800s, westward expansion led ... Show more content

An experimental population, under section 10 of the Endangered Species Act, is thought as
unnecessary and admits more management flexibility. Most scientists assumed that wolves would
not tremendously decrease populations of mule deer, bison, bighorn sheep, white–tailed deer, or
pronghorns; they could possibly have insignificant effects on cougars and grizzly bears. Their
existence could cause the recession of coyotes and increase of red foxes. In 1991, Congress
administered funds to the US Fish and Wildlife Service to develop an environmental impact
statement (EIS) on the restoration of wolves with the guidance and support of the National Park
Service and the US Forest Service. In June 1994, after many years and a near–record number of
public criticism, the Secretary of the Interior signed the Record of Decision for the final EIS for
restoration of gray wolves to Yellowstone National Park and central Idaho. Staff from Yellowstone
National Park, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and cooperating states began planning for wolf

Essay on The Gray Wolf
This report is all about the gray wolf. Its scientific name is Canis Lupis. Canis is the Latin word for
dog. The genus also includes jackals and coyotes. Lupis is the Latin word for wolf. Gray wolves look
similar to German shepherds, but the wolf has longer legs and bigger feet. The color of a gray wolf
can range from black to white, but shades of gray are the most common. A unique feature about gray
wolves is that the farther north you find them, the larger they are. Males can range from (nose–to–
tail) five to six and a half feet and females range from four and a half to six feet. The normal life
span of a wolf is about thirteen years, but most wolves don't live past ten years for numerous
reasons. Examples include disease, hunters, etc. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, she can keep the pups away from the rest of the pack. Unlike most mammals, the male wolf
helps raise the pups as well. After about one month, the pups are ready to go out of the den and move
from mother's milk to meat that is regurgitated by the parents. After one year, the pups have grown
into adults.
This a map of the world representing where the gray wolf can be found. They can be found in the
north half of North America, Western Europe, Russia, India, and parts of central Asia. Within
Washington State, wolves generally live in the Cascade and Olympic forest and mountain regions.
Wolves are natural born predators. They are considered secondary consumers. This means that they
eat animals that eat plants, primarily deer. The wolves in the pack that are capable oh hunting hide in
the brush still as statues. They scan a herd of deer for the weakest and oldest to catch as a meal.
When the time is right, they burst out of the brush and aim for their prey's hind legs, taking away its
ability to run. After that, they bite its neck, making it impossible to breathe. After a successful kill,
the wolves can do many things. They can eat their meal right there or they can "cache" the kill.
Caching a fallen deer means burying it underground for use in the cold winter when prey is scarce.
Wolves are important to society because of some of the animals they prey on. Wolves prey on a
small animal called a vole. Voles are

the addition of new species. There are reports that after the population runs out of prey, well rather

that being said, their prey's repopulation has inundated the wolves' forward progress, thus slowing

Grizzly Bear Recovery Case Study
Chris Servheen, the Grizzly Bear Recovery Coordinator for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, has
said that the grizzly bears have met every criteria set forth towards their recovery plan. Since
meeting these criteria, it may be time to have them removed from the Endangered Species List
(delisted). Delisting means that the bears won't be protected by the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
As it can be seen from the grizzly delisting public comments that I agreed with, I am against having
the grizzlies delisted.
I believe that the current population is too small, even though it has recovered a good amount from
the recovery plan. Also, I believe that the population is too isolated to ensure long term survival.
Based on expert opinion, the current population is about ¼ of what is needed in ... Show more

More importantly, the long term health of the grizzlies can be assured by maintaining a population
number of a several thousand. This include expanding their potential living area and connecting the
grizzly bear ecosystems to source populations in Canada. In addition to this, delisting relies on the
importation of bears to address genetic problems. It requires the importation of two bears every ten
years into the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem to address genetic problem. Importing these bears into
the ecosystem is not likely to provide necessary gene flow due to the low success of transplants in
habitat that is already occupied. Also, the delisting plans does not seem to consider the degree and
the pace of habitat change occurring in the region. For example, there is a current loss for whitebark
pine (an important food source for the grizzlies) due to mountain pine beetles, blister rust, and global

Personal Narrative: Alpha Wolves
When I arrived at Atwood Seeing a cemetery right as we entered and the bus stopped there was two
dorms a boy and a girl. After we all got settled, we had lunch and I sat with my friends Jack Brett
and other people that I really didn't talk to. Next we headed for our groups where we were dismissed
to go until we were lucky enough to play predator prey on the first day. It was a hole lot of fun when
there are herbivores, omnivores and prey who have life tags if a higher animal at the top of the food

Everyone in the activity had to touch it and it the puppet had to pass a line while the teacher that we

The Movie ' Orange Is The New Black `` And What I Call A...
In its origin, the term "antihero" referred to "the male star of a drama who remained likable despite
moral ambiguity" (Rabinowitz). For an extended period of time, female antiheros simply did not
exist. There was no word for female characters who one was forced to like, regardless of their wolfly
characteristics. We simply love them because they are the star of the show. Piper Chapman is exactly
this: a character who one only likes because they are the central character in the story, when in
reality, they have very questionable morals and are most likely wolves. Alex Rabinowitz, leading
figure in entertainment news on social media, defines Piper as "the most groundbreaking character
on television" because of her journey to be what he calls an "antihero" and what I call a wolf. The
two terms seem virtually interchangeable, with the only difference being the audience's feelings
towards the character. Chapman is the main character of one of Netflix's greatest hit series, "Orange
Is The New Black". This series, created and produced by Jenji Kohan, follows the lives of an entire
prison full of women who are serving their time in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum security
women's prison located in upstate New York. All of these women have their own stories and
problems that the viewer follows throughout the four current seasons. While watching the episodes,
the viewer truly grows to love many of the characters, each in their own unique way. The one

Personal Statement : Training Team
It all started when they took me away from my home in Africa. I was at my high school graduation
with a 4.0 GPA. I was extremely proud of myself when suddenly a helicopter arrived on campus. I
thought it was maybe for one of the rich kids getting picked up but surprise! It was for me. A woman
stepped out and grabbed me by the arm. I was confused and scared and I wish I had my parents there
to help me. But I had no one. Once we got in the helicopter, she greeted herself. "I 'm Jackie. I 'll be
your instructor for you and your team," she said. "My team? Like a sports team?" "No silly. Your
training team which will further turn into your fighting team," she answered. I thought to myself
what Jackie meant and apparently she could read my face because she answered that question for
me. "By training team I mean your partners who you will you work out, exercise, and work with in
schooling. By fighting team I mean who you will fight with in further missions." "Wait so those
rumors are real?!" Jackie questioned what I meant by rumors. "There 's rumors going around that
students are being taken into some program to fight the government." And with that she turned her
head, smiled, and looked out into the world which two years later turned into shit. My team consisted
of three other people. Joseph Desavage but we call him The Savage Mob, Jack Landon, Jaye Jinx,
and me, Saph Bello, Saph short for Sapphire. I 'm writing this down and looking back at those two

Similarities Between A German Shepherd And Gray Wolf
You ever wondered what a German Shepherd and Gray Wolf have in common? Well here they are.
Their traits, diets, and habitats have similarities and differences. They both have unique body
structures. Also, they are both have many structures that make them unique in their own way. Yum!
This is what a German Shepherd and Gray Wolfe say while eating their meal. Let's see, a wolf eats
large hoofed animals like deer and moose. However, German Shepherds eat smaller animals like fish
and birds. Both animals will settle for easy prey....already dead animals.A wolf will also eat beaver
and other wolves. A German Shepherd will eat, if it's a pet, dog food, if not , reptiles and even insects

It was a day like any other, it started with the sun rising above the hills and the light reflecting off of
the dew on the grass. However, everything would soon change, when four warriors unlikely to have

friend Ffyddlon, Unig, and Cyfiawn. They all had heard of a group of men terrorizing the city of
Tynged, they went on a killing spree every night. Each warrior had their own reason for going to the
city to face these terrible men. For Deallus and Ffyddlon, it was for the adventure. For Unig it was

tried to fight him but Seico overpowered him. Ffyddlon saw the attack and lunged in front of

Deallus sliced Seico's head clean off. He then rushed over to Ffyddlon mumbling words of

and tied it around Ffyddlon's waist. When Ffyddlon had enough strength he stood up and was ready

Dingo Research Paper
Many people will confuse the dingo with a domesticated canine but the truth is the dingos were the
step right before the true domestication of dogs in Australia. The time of arrival , the source and type
of animal wild or domestic, were all uncertain. "There hasn't been a lot of evidence, so everything
has been speculation," says Alan Wilton, of the University of New South Wales. The oldest fossil
found in Australia dates from about 3,500 years ago. Dingoes can live in a wide range of habitats
found on the Australian mainland. Their preference is woodland and grassland areas that extend to
the edge of forests; they are only limited by access to viable water sources.

the red wolf is the grey wolf, even though the red wolf is very identical to the grey wolf, the only
difference that they have is that the red wolf are very endangered in the world today. Though red

you know Daniel Boone originally named the town Wolf Hills while he was blazing a trail through

Poem Summary: The Black Wolf
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [Image: tumblr_inline_nt5qvtrjZl1sxsqjl_500.gif] xxxxxxxx There was that scent
again.. overflowing with the sweet bitterness of iron. It wafted into the black wolf's nostrils, sending
the canine's senses wild with an explosion of thoughts. An elk? 'Much too sweet.' Cautious, silent
steps brought the dark figure through the thick of an overgrown path, rarely used by civilians in the
past few years. Each one drew him closer to the fragrance that was beginning to ferment in the
amber eye'd wolf's snout; beckoning him forward, luring him from the safety of his cave and
surrounding territory – something the lone wolf didn't do for just anything. But the lingering smell
was much too intoxicating to ignore.. igniting a fire within the male's paws as they began to rip

Amber orbs eased over the figure in front of him, lowering his nose to sniff the heel of one of the

of his throat as the wolf's paws carried him around the unconscious woman, circling her fully to try
and get a better sense of where that smell was emitting from. It wasn't until he'd reached her side that
the disgusting stench wafted stronger, mixing with the scent of that sweet nectar that had originally

upon seeing the puncture marks of a bite. A bite that would lead to a festering within her blackened

students can do a small research to find out what happened to the buffalo after their near extinction.
They will find out that "from an estimated 1,500 animals around 1900, buffalo numbers have
expanded to a current U.S. population of approximately 300,000, with roughly 40 percent located in
the Great Plains region." Students can also input this information on their graph to compare how the
population changed throughout the years. Afterwards, the teacher can use the results to teach
students how supply and demand affected the Indian population during the 1900s. The almost
extinction of the buffalo can be compared to other resources that humans over use such as oil, gas,
trees, and water. Students can make predictions of what would happen to the human population if the

Analysis Of Pope Francis ' Encyclical Laudato Si ' And...
Pollution, industrialism, and increasingly high levels of carbon dioxide emissions transform the
climate of the earth at a rapid pace. With increasing global temperatures and rising levels, and
myriad other effects, the future of the planet is cause for concern. Despite many willing voices and
hands, it can sometimes be confusing as to what one can do to help. However, Pope Francis'
encyclical Laudato Si' and Ellen Davis' Scripture, Culture and Agriculture, along with the writings of
other agriculturalists and voices of environmental advocates around the globe, provide insight into
this dilemma. Ellen Davis speaks to an idea of "re–membering": working toward re–establishing a

Taking these into account, the voices of many communities will be included. If humans attempted to
solve the issues at hand within their bubble of technology, many details would be forgotten, and
different peoples would be left behind, and perhaps left worse off than before. This completely
neglects the concept of looking after those less fortunate and promoting the common good that is
essential to Pope Francis' concept of integral ecology. Coinciding with this is the importance of
incorporating humanism into how we build cities and other societal structures, as we must consider
the setting, relationships, and preservation of culture while promoting sustainability and lessening
pollution. Attention to the common good, which is based on human dignity and living toward full
achievement by working together as a society, calls for care and concern for one another as well as
promoting peace and justice. By attending to the common good, we can attend to the plights of the
poor and prepare and nurture God 's gift of creation for future generations, while answering his call
of caring for one another. Consequently, it is not only an issue of ethics, but also one of theology.
Moreover, voices that are not solely scientific must be listened to concerning matters of
environmental justice and protection. Re–membering depends on the writings of many that may be
neglected or discounted: farmers, poets, geographic historians,

must be truthfully. Secondly, you cannot repeat questions you have already asked," Alexander
casually suggested.
"Why would I want to know about you?"
"You probably don't. But being a rogue vampire, I dont think you leave this forest often. There are
probably things about the world you want to know about."

Rigid Wolf Vs Black Pup
Two wolves, Rigid and Realty, had two Pups, which they named Grey Pup and Black Pup. The two
Pups grew up with good influences, mostly from Freight Train. The two pups always enjoyed
visiting Freight Train but only when she wasn't huffing and puffing. Grey Pup always enjoyed racing
friends and catching balls. Black Pup didn't enjoy those luxuries, he focused on playing games like
hunting rabbits and deer with other friends. Rigid wolf never liked what Black pup enjoyed. Rigid
wolf always favored Grey Pup more than Black Pup but thankfully Realty wolf and Freight Train
supported what Black Pup enjoyed. Realty wolf taught Black Pup how to hunt correctly while
Freight Train explained to Rigid wolf that it was okay. Freight Train always believed

The Crossing Cormac Mccarthy Analysis
In the passage from Cormac McCarthy's novel, The Crossing, the narrator describes the main
character's burial of a wolf that was recently killed. It us unclear if he had killed the wolf or had
found her dead, but the experience has a profound effect on the character either way. McCarthy uses
several literary techniques to accurately convey the impact on the protagonist, including detailed
diction that creates powerful visuals in the mind of the reader. Along with this usage of imagery, the
author includes religious and spiritual references to emphasize the deep sadness and wonder felt by
the main character during this passage. From the very beginning of the passage, McCarthy's precise
vocabulary expresses not only the visual experiences, but also what he hears and feels in those
moments. The narrator describes the scenery and the "grassy swales" beneath "tall escarpments". He
also goes into another sense of the protagonist by telling us of the "yapping" of the coyotes. We can
feel the coldness as he "shivers" waiting for dawn, and the fire that he built dies down to "a few low
flames seething over the coals". However, what most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this, the author's use of syntax also emphasizes these deep emotions. When the
protagonist hangs a sheet by the fire to dry, it "steamed...like a burning scrim standing in the
wilderness where celebrants of some sacred passion had been carried off by rival sects". The
protagonist falls asleep, "palms up...like some dozing penitent". When he imagines the wolf's body,
he sees her "running in the mountains" with "all nations of the possible world ordained by God"
running with her. All of these religious and spiritual references help express the somber mood and
reflect the deep sadness the protagonist feels, as well as the wonder he feels at these imaginings of

The Grass By Cather Summary
When Cather discusses grass she gets very detailed. "Everywhere, as far as the eye could reach, there
was nothing but rough, shaggy, red, grass most of it as tall as I. North of the house, inside the
ploughed fire–breaks , grew a thick–set strip of box–elder trees, low and bushy, their leaves already
turning yellow. This hedge was nearly a quarter of a mile long, but I had to look very hard to see it at
all. The little trees were insignificant against the grass. It seemed as if the grass were about to run
over them, and over the plum patch behind the sod chicken–house. As I looked about me I felt that
the grass was the country, as the water is the sea. The red of the grass made all the great prairie the
color of wine–stains, or of certain

Arctic Wolf

  • 1. Arctic Wolf Wolves are one of the smartest, and fiercest animals alive. Wolves are known for being great at hunting, and very dangerous and mysterious. I'm here to tell you how the life of a wolf is, and how they're not dangerous to us humans. Wolves mainly live in the Arctic, North America, Europe, and Asia. Like in the Arctic, and North America they've learned to survive on fat stored amongst their bodies. There are over 12,000 wolves that live in Europe like the Eurasian wolf, a Russian Forest Wolf which is a type of grey wolf. In Asia grey wolves used to live there but now most just live in Asian countries. They also in the forest because there's a lot more to prey on, and it's easier to adapt their. They ... The controversy comes with those who fight for the protection to conserve this species and those who see the Gray Wolf as a threat to humans and their form of survival. Both arguments are logical and both sides seem to be supported by evidence. The biggest controversy comes with the first proposed delisting of the Gray wolf. This paper will outline the biology and ecology of the Gray Wolf as well as the causes for the decline of the species and the reasons to keep this species alive. How can a wolf do harm and at the same time do so much good to the ecosystem? The Gray wolf is the largest canids in the wild, usually weighing between 70 and 120 lbs. "What's up with you two?" I said and looked at the wolf too. The ornament started glowing, and every strand of fur on the wolf actually became soft. The muscular neck was warm, and it seemed like the wolf was alive. I mean, seriously alive. "Thank you for saving me" a low voice rumbled. "How? You can talk?!" I was totally surprised. This kind of surprize when you're hit by a lighting. "How can't I talk to the daughter of Veles? The flock of Earth is loyal to you for ever." Touch the colovrat, everyone!" As soon as we followed, the floor fell down somewhere really far. Bright orange and black flashes covered the reality. In a fraction of a second I was lying on terribly soft, dark–green grass. It smelled like pine sap and ripe wild strawberries. Also, it smelled like magic. Yes, I'm serious. A thin veil of enchantment was hanging over the forest. "Where in the world are we?" asked Neb, shaking the leaves off his head. "The world of spirits. You know the monsters you fought your entire life? They sometimes break the thin wall between the worlds. That's what we just did." answered the wolf. "Let's go! I think I know where the firebird lives!" exclaimed Vlada. She was heading to the gigantic white rock that rose over the forest. The wolf stood up in front of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Farley Mowats The Role Of Wolves In The Wild About a century ago, a man by the name of Farley Mowat was sent to the frozen wilderness of Canada to examine the actions of wolves and how their survival affects the plummeting of the caribou herds. While studying a pack of seven, he acquired a deep feeling of admiration for this certain pack of wolves. Almost halfway through the novel, Mowat gives each of the three adults a name that goes along with their role in the family. While living near a pack of seven wolves, Mowat soon realizes that they are not at fault for the decline in caribou society, as a matter of fact, they are doing quite the opposite. There is something far more powerful than wolves harming the population. Human kind itself is destroying the community of our nature. "I kept coming up with the fantastic figure of 112,000 animals killed by trappers in this area every year"(Page 86). With all the hunters and trappers in Keewatin, the population of most animals are immensely falling downward. Protect the Gray Wolves Essay Protect the Gray Wolves Long before the settlers started to make the United States their home, "American Indians lived long beside the Gray Wolf before settlers started to come here." (Rowe, Mark) The wolf is native to the North American continent and has been inhabiting its land for centuries. It is a canid species, or member of the canine family and is a cunning, smart, fast, and sly animal. Gray wolves range in color from black, brown, gray, and white and also look like a grown German Shepherd. These were all key factors to their near extinction. In 1974 the wolves were placed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA), but were not protected for long. Many environmentalist agreed with this act because environmentalist knew how crucial this keystone specie was to the ecosystem. Without the grey wolves existence, the whole rest of the ecosystem would not function properly. Unfortunately, around the 1960s, the gray wolf population was basically extinct, which resulted in a huge controversy. Luckily, "In 1995, the first 14 wolves were introduced to the Yellowstone National Park to increase the wolf population"(Transplanted) that had been decreasing gradually. Over the years more Canadian wolves were introduced to the Yellowstone National park to increase the wolf population. This procedure was successful because the wolf population throughout the Yellowstone region was on the rise. The long term goal for the environmentalists and Yellowstone park rangers would be to have around 1,000 wolves roaming the region. The declining wolf population has turned around and is now increasing at a steady pace. The National Park Service says "During the 1980s, wolves began to reestablish breeding packs in Northwestern Montana; 50–60 wolves inhabited Montana in 1994."(NPS) We are very fortunate for the quick acts of transferring the wolves from Canada down to the Yellowstone National Park and to the intense research that has been done ... (Urbigkit ,2016) However, it doesn't stop there, every day livestock and wildlife are killed and rarely eaten by wolves in almost every western state. This is a problem that needs to be addressed before ranchers lose their herds, and before the wild herds are depleted beyond restoration. If the wolf situation was bad a couple years ago, well now it's worse, even some of the "protectors of wildlife" are starting to come to their senses. Livestock is the most expensive prey that wolves can get to, and the problem is that they get to them very easy and can escape because they have no reason to come back to the kill. ... Even beyond that our generation of families won't feel safe letting our grandchildren run around. The wolves have mass killed 19 elk in one night, slaughtered countless numbers of livestock and in places threatened people. "In the rural town of Reserve, New Mexico kids wait for the bus in wooden and metal cages, meant to protect the kids from wolf attacks." (Toft, 2016). You may think is this is unnecessary, until you see and hear about the wolves growling and snarling at the frightened children. It's a sad time when the most important thing you walk out of the house with is not your coat or anything it's your weapon, so you can defend your family, home, and livelihood. As communities and stewards of the land our duty is to protect as well as manage, we as hunters are managing, however the wolves are not being managed correctly, and are getting away with the minor scolding of words that they cannot comprehend from the government. Summary Of Beast Of Waste And Desolation ' In "The Beast of Waste and Desolation" in Barry Holstun Lopez's book Of Wolves and Men, he writes about the attitudes he encountered from people when discussing wolves. These attitudes came from several different sources, ranging from several different Native American tribes and field biologists to ranchers, trappers, and general residents of the areas where he conducted his research. Lopez expressed his discomfort when he spoke with the latter group, as those people that felt there was nothing wrong with killing wolves, and that the practice, overall, was a good thing. Lopez writes that it seemed many of these people appeared to be filled with a general hatred; of government, laws, and wolves. The killing of wolves held a vengeful element, with no remorse or regret. He goes into detail of the single–minded persecution of the wolf, even though many of the conflicts with wolves were man made. One example provided was of man depleting many of the wolves' natural prey sources like elk and buffalo, and as a result the wolves turned to preying on the domestic stock instead. Suddenly, man was justified in killing wolves as it became necessary to protect livestock. The larger questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their existence could cause the recession of coyotes and increase of red foxes. As it can be seen from the grizzly delisting public comments that I agreed with, I am against having the grizzlies delisted. It requires the importation of two bears every ten years into the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem to address genetic problem. Today the only place red wolves can be found in the wild is in eastern North Carolina. The red wolf has gray or black fur mixed with red, especially on its legs and sides. It has a long snout and a long, black–tipped tail. It wafted into the black wolf's nostrils, sending the canine's senses wild with an explosion of thoughts. An elk? 'Much too sweet.' Cautious, silent steps brought the dark figure through the thick of an overgrown path, rarely used by civilians in the past few years. Each one drew him closer to the fragrance that was beginning to ferment in the amber eye'd wolf's snout; beckoning him forward, luring him from the safety of his cave and surrounding territory – something the lone wolf didn't do for just anything. But the lingering smell was much too intoxicating to ignore.. igniting a fire within the male's paws as they began to rip through the terrain, carrying him forward with a lunge. A lower growl erupted from the back of his throat as the wolf's paws carried him around the unconscious woman, circling her fully to try and get a better sense of where that smell was emitting from. It wasn't until he'd reached her side that the disgusting stench wafted stronger, mixing with the scent of that sweet nectar that had originally lead him there. Nuzzling the woman's arm, he shifted it from her side, eyes narrowing with dread upon seeing the puncture marks of a bite. Pollution, industrialism, and increasingly high levels of carbon dioxide emissions transform the climate of the earth at a rapid pace. With increasing global temperatures and rising levels, and myriad other effects, the future of the planet is cause for concern. Despite many willing voices and hands, it can sometimes be confusing as to what one can do to help. However, Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si' and Ellen Davis' Scripture, Culture and Agriculture, along with the writings of other agriculturalists and voices of environmental advocates around the globe, provide insight into this dilemma. Taking these into account, the voices of many communities will be included. If humans attempted to solve the issues at hand within their bubble of technology, many details would be forgotten, and different peoples would be left behind, and perhaps left worse off than before. This completely neglects the concept of looking after those less fortunate and promoting the common good that is essential to Pope Francis' concept of integral ecology. Coinciding with this is the importance of incorporating humanism into how we build cities and other societal structures, as we must consider the setting, relationships, and preservation of culture while promoting sustainability and lessening pollution. Attention to the common good, which is based on human dignity and living toward full achievement by working together as a society, calls for care and concern for one another as well as promoting peace and justice. By attending to the common good, we can attend to the plights of the poor and prepare and nurture God 's gift of creation for future generations, while answering his call of caring for one another. Consequently, it is not only an issue of ethics, but also one of theology. Moreover, voices that are not solely scientific must be listened to concerning matters of environmental justice and protection. • 40. The Crossing Cormac Mccarthy Analysis In the passage from Cormac McCarthy's novel, The Crossing, the narrator describes the main character's burial of a wolf that was recently killed. It us unclear if he had killed the wolf or had found her dead, but the experience has a profound effect on the character either way. McCarthy uses several literary techniques to accurately convey the impact on the protagonist, including detailed diction that creates powerful visuals in the mind of the reader. Along with this usage of imagery, the author includes religious and spiritual references to emphasize the deep sadness and wonder felt by the main character during this passage. From the very beginning of the passage, McCarthy's precise vocabulary expresses not only the visual experiences, but also what he hears and feels in those moments. The narrator describes the scenery and the "grassy swales" beneath "tall escarpments". He also goes into another sense of the protagonist by telling us of the "yapping" of the coyotes. We can feel the coldness as he "shivers" waiting for dawn, and the fire that he built dies down to "a few low flames seething over the coals". However, what most ... This hedge was nearly a quarter of a mile long, but I had to look very hard to see it at all. The little trees were insignificant against the grass.
