Summary
I have a wide background and experience in Arboriculture (Tree Care). I hold the Arboriculture
Association Technician Certificate and have worked as a Senior Tree Officer within the
Planning Department for the City and County of Swansea. I have good computer skills in
computer aided design (AutoCAD – City and Guild Level 3) and in the use of tree related
software and hardware for use on site that allow me to produce Arboricultural reports and
plans effectively and efficiently.

Solely responsible for all matters involving trees within the planning department
including providing comments on planning applications, assessing applications for
works to trees with Tree Preservation Order (TPO), within a Conservation Area or
Hedgerow removal notices. Assisting with tree/hedgerow/woodland enforcement
issues including working with relevant organizations (NRW, Wildlife Trust etc.). Serving
new TPO and reviewing current TPO. Providing representation at planning appeals and
committee. Providing Arboricultural information to the public including onsite
discussion with landowners and agents regarding tree, hedgerow and woodland

2. Arborist (City and County of Swansea)
January 2008 - January 2010 (2 years 1 month) + November 2001 - March 2007 (5 years
5 months)
In 2008 I carried out a three-month tree health condition survey of a large Victorian
local park. Also at the time I did voluntary work with the Tree Preservation Officer.
During this time I worked within a team of fourteen arborists. This role consisted of many
different aspects of arboriculture including chainsaw use from rope and harness, to the
use of elevated mobile platforms. Due to the nature of the work it was very important
that health and safety regulations were strictly followed to maintain the safety of my
colleagues, the public and myself. During my employment I gained many National
Proficiency Test Certificate in different accepts of arboriculture. I have attended many
training courses in areas such as first aid, disability and equal opportunities awareness.
I have always had a keen interest in Arboriculture and have worked proactively to
learn wider about this subject.
Wildlife Conservation Work (Tree climber/Rope access) at - RSPB – Vulture Conservation
– Nepal & Invasive Species Survey and Eradication - Gough Island, Red kite Trust – Tree
climber to gain access to the nest of Red kites for monitoring purposes & various
work/volunteering for the Wild Life Trust. This includes giving presentation talks to
