President’s Letter—April 2015 by Don McGinnis
Just when you think thinks can’t get any worse; it does; March was
worse for me than February. My wife had been in the hospital for
over two weeks, with a stroke. After she was released and everyone
thought she was getting better, she passed away. I want to thank eve-
ryone for their prayers and support during this time. Church, Club
members and good friends helped me get through this time of sorrow.
I am still going to have a knee replacement on April 7th
. It will be 4 to
6 weeks before I will be able to get around on my own. Our club also
lost one of our faithful and dedicated members, our prayers go out to
Gwen Porterfield with the loss of her husband Dwayne.
Now to car club issues, the club members that are going on the fun
run trip to Randleman NC are getting excited. I am still hoping I will
be able to make the trip.
Reminder several car shows coming up in the next few weeks. Be
sure to check the coming events section of this newsletter so you want
get left out. Get ready for Cruise-in season starting the first week end
in May. (Time 5:00 till 8:00). June is when we elect new officers for
the following year. Nominations are made from the floor at our June
meeting. If you are interested or know someone who is, start cam-
paigning. It is time for me to step down as President. The last two
years have been great. Thanks to our club working together, we have
accomplished and surpassed several huge goals. I want to thank eve-
ryone for their support and cooperation.
Keep our club members and their families that are sick, hurting, or
lost loved ones in your prayers. Remember our monthly club meet-
ing every 3rd
. Thursday held at Shoney’s

Greetings HCCC!
April is here and May is on the horizon; we have another cruz n season right
around the corner. Car shows have already started with one or two every week-
end. Remember our Jr. Club show is the 25th
of April at East High. Love to see
HCCC attend this show and then we are going to cruise over to Nathan’s Cruise
Against Cancer in Newport afterwards. We’ll have baling wire and transmis-
sion fluid ready.
As we all know, we have lost some of our family. Mary Nell was a great lady
and a major worker in all club activities. Tea will never taste the same again! It
hurts to lose someone of her caliber, as she joins some other great ladies that
have gone before their time. And then there is Dwayne!! A friend to me since
school, we visited Uncle Sam together and came back home. He was always
there to help and talk to. He loved the HCCC and the Angel Tree charities that
we have. Going to miss seeing the cigar!! Give Don and Gwen your love and
prayers as they heal with their losses.
I must say, I’ve never been as proud to be a member of HCCC as the turnouts
and support that we had for both of these funerals. Thanks to all!!
Remember to sign up to work the trailer to qualify for the gift card.
Victory Junction trip is coming up and we still have a few seats available on the
bus or you may drive your own vehicle if you wish.
WAE meetings will be announced soon and anyone can attend.
Look at show schedule and attend all you can. The Jr. show, Skymart show on
May 2nd
– Downtown, as well as Dan’s show for Brooklyn Jade on May 9th
at
Big Lots, all of these shows are being backed by HCCC.
Remember all our members that may be ill or grieving at this time; keep them in
your prayers.
Happy cruzing, Butch
Think they will get it figured out!!
Let’s hope so!!!!
